Hoo Wah (Sunrise) in Stockton-on-Tees

1st time, absolutely disgusting, never again, sweetcorn soup like dishwasher couple of pieces of sweet corn in it, curry and chow mein full of salt, couldn't even eat it, want our money back.....

Delivery was fast and food was excellent as usual. Big thumbs up!

I have given this venue a chance to improve and have found that the quality of food delivered has been found to be worse. Once again the offerings are disapointing There was so much onion and not enough of other meats that is suposed to be included Very upset by the quality of food,not upto previous standards. Meat very strange taste,not much veg variety within the dish,packed out with onion and very salty. DISAPPOINTED to say the least

Shocking. They were updating new delivery times over 1.45hrs on Just Eat even though they had already delivered to some other address instead of mine, couldnt even say where. When I called and asked for a replacement they refused, even said id pick up and refused. Said get a refund. First and last time using.

Absolutely excellent food. Chips are freshly made and lovely.

Appalling service. Placed order on just eat, waited an hour and a half and no food. Called the restaurant, and they told me the food wasn’t in the kitchen so it must be out for delivery and it will be 10/15 minutes. I rang back 25 minutes later to be told they lost the ticket and have had to cancel the order on just eat. From the first phone call they should have done their due diligence to discover the ticket was originally lost. And not have us waiting longer to then eventually cancel. Poorly ran, won’t be attempting to order again.

This place provides excellent food. However my last order of Chicken Kung po arrived and was sweet and sour chicken instead! Didn't complain but it was very sweet and not too my liking. Poor.

Usually good food but chips often not cooked enough! I asked for them to be well done tonight and they arrived practically raw!! Not happy at all

Food was dry and tasteless paid for food we didn't get. Order was not what we asked for this has happened twice now after giving benefit. Won't be using anymore

Never had a bad meal in the 30 years I have been getting my meals. The lady is always very nice and welcoming when I collect my takeaways.

Used to be a lovely, tasty takeaway. Now it's a long way off that sadly. House Kung Po was unrecognisable, no beef, no cashews and no heat. Was really looking forward to it, but won't be using again.

Vile just went in the bin. The sweet and sour chicken tastes off! Got a funky sick taste to it and the sauce tasted odd too like it had been in the freezer and got that freezer ice taste. Rice ok. Curry ok. Overall won’t order again waste of money. First Chinese I’ve ever left, I’ll eat most things but not summet that tastes funky.

Customer service shocking, attitude problem of the woman on the phone, argumentative after getting order wrong and not wanting to rectify it....gone right down hill since last owners had it, wouldn't care food is OK too, will not go back though due to the attitude, what happened to customer service!!!

Never tried this place before so thought would give it a go . Food came absolutely freezing. I called up to make complaint and instead of apologising and saying they would replace it . The lady said who was very rude phone just eat for a refund . The customer service was disgusting. Called back up to get verification code for just eat and then rang up just eat to say verification code has expired Will be taking this further Please avoid at all costs I will be leaving a review on n every day until this has been rectified Would of have it no stars if I could

wouldn’t even give this place one star, took the money out my account but i didn’t get the email for confirmation so i rang them and they said that it had gone through, rang them again when it got to about an hour and a half later and they said it was on the way, waited another half an hour after that rang again and they said that the order didn’t go though in the first place, absolute waste of time and money haven’t even got a refund yet, never coming back here again

I spent £30 last night for 2 boxes of veg. Each container had maybe 3 pieces of diced chicken. The chicken was not prepared as stated on the menu. I never leave reviews. I feel like driving to you and throwing these nasty green peppers and onions at you… It’s so bad don’t order from here.

Absolutely awful! Had just finished work and was hungry so Ordered a king prawn chowmein and plain noodles with a tub of gravy for when I got home. Firstly they forgot the gravy, the plain noodles were extremely salty to the extent I needed a drink after every mouthful. The chowmein sauce was bitter and left a horrible aftertaste and the prawns were discoloured and hadn't been prepared properly, the bowel lines were still hanging out.... waste of £15 had one bite of each and went straight in the bin. Save your money.

Waited over 2 hrs for food when told under 45 mins food cold poor quality delivery driver rude very expensive for what we got will not be going here again

Used to use hoo wah every week but this week it was sunrise and it was awful. Very potent taste to everything. Disappointed ☹

How Wah was always our go to for a Chinese take away. Food was always lovely, their meat cooked so it was really tender and juicy. I understand it is is now under new ownership and now calls itself Sunrise. Unfortunately our meals tonight were well under par. Beef was like chewing an old rubber boot, in fact all of the beef in our curries ended up in the bin, rice was undercooked. Suffice to say we will be going elsewhere for our Chinese food. Come back the chef of Hoo Wah. You will be missed.

This takeaway has been my go to Chinese for a long time. I always rated it highly, but I am under the impression that the cook has changed, all I can say is the food is not as indulgent as it was, almost like they have changed to a more healthy recipe. Shame really.

Personal favourite Chinese takeaway in Billingham

I have just collected a sweet and sour chicken from this takeaway. It was absolutely disgusting. The smell of the sauce as I took the lid off the container was very odd and the vinegary fumes made my eyes sting. The sweet and sour sauce was so thick and gloopy it was almost set. I love my sweet and sour chicken and never leave any. But 80% of this went into the bin. I will not be visiting this takeaway again.
