Hongkong buffet in City of London, Westminster

Some times I’m pleased when I don’t rely on Tripadvisor to decide where to eat, looking at the previous reviews, I probably wouldn’t have gone here if I had!! But I came in because the food looked nice in the window from outside As with all restaurants like this, service and payment is quite swift, though to be fair the waitresses were helpful and pleasant I have to say though the food was lovely, and tasty, and I’d be pretty sure it was all cooked fresh!! Would definitely return!!

We arrived just after noon. £13.95 pp so realistic with our expectations. Good selection of dishes, plentiful in supply. Very clean with visible cleaning in process. Staff v pleasant

Worst buffet I have ever been to, staff were violent and rude to my friend who was simply observing my food. Staff did not seem to care, as they spilt sauce on my top while this happened. The 10% service charge is fraudulent, and dont be fooled by the cheap prices on the outside of the shop. plates were dirty and unhygienic. Cross contamination was everywhere, food was dry and sickly, and looked like it had been out for days. I felt sick afterwards, and so did my friends. The fact this place has a 2 star rating is astonishing, dosent even deserve 1 star. DO NOT COME HERE

Words cannot describe this awful restaurant watch out for a man with a black bowl cut stared at me whilst I was eating wouldn’t take his eyes of me smashed my friends hand for nothing and split sauce on my friends shorts and also screamed at me for going on my phone. I came here right before they closed and got 2 good sized takeaway boxes for £10. The food was pretty much what you'd expect from a buffet, a little greasy but otherwise delicious - and for the price you really can't complain! The best things I had were the beef, the broccoli and the egg fried rice, although the pineapple veg dish was a bit vinegary. Otherwise it was tasty, quick and cheap. Would come again!

Selection of mains ... it was cold and tasteless...so disappointing. Ruined our night out. Never again.

daylight robbery, avoid as possible - First of all it was £13.5 for each person then they do have service charge, yes they do have a service charge even though it’s a buffet , for each person total of £15.5 . We got in for 2 person, you have to pay before anything else. We got the food and it’s was the toughest food you will ever eaten. Solid as a rock. We complain about it to the waiter who actually no customer service whatsoever, rude and avoiding conversation. The table next to us complain aswell because how solid the food was. Then when there is a new food coming out , that waiter told us . Oh it’s fresh and soft then he spilled it all over the floor. Unsanitary. Call it bad karma. - the only thing that I enjoy in there is a can of cola. Spend £35 all for nothing. - checked the food hygiene score which is 3 but to be honest is more like 1. - no standards, no consistency, no customer service . Avoid at all cost and just go try somewhere else.

Don’t really know how this place is still open with all the reviews, they take you money before you eat or you wouldn’t pay them it’s that bad! The place is disgusting.

We had Theatre at 7.30pm so we wanted somewhere quick, where we were in charge of the timings (ie a buffet). We chose this based on Google reviews, but until I logged in just now I had not seen the dire reviews of previous diners, so I may have chosen differently. It is what it is. Actually rather small (unless there was an annexe), and the dishes were rather limited, about 16 or so, I think. The food was rather bland, although the noodles were OK. £40.59 for two, including drinks. Service was workman-like, perfunctory. Undoubtedly there are better buffets in the Smoke, but I suspect that those in 'chinatown' are much of a muchness. Anyway, it was quick, we left feeling full, and we did not spend the next 24 hours in the toilet- so what was I expecting?

Food was horrendous, chicken was so dry but we had to pay before we ate so we tried to enjoy our meal! The worst decision as I have now got food poising - do not eat there!!

The food on the buffet was fresh and full of flavour. There was pork, chicken and beef mixed with some peppers and onions. There was rice and noodles so pretty much something for everyone. It was warm and true to the word, had plenty of it. The only flip side for me was that there wasn’t enough veg options. I loved the meats but would have liked some mixed veg or mushrooms.

Avoid. Awful food, pay before you eat (red flag), poor service, bad atmosphere. Literally the worst Chinese food, if not food in general, I have ever had.

You pay before you eat, and trust me this is not by accident. Food looks good from the window. As soon as you are seated you’re asked to pay, which is odd. The food is cold and dry. Service charge is automatically added to your bill. When a complaint was made, there is apparently nothing they can do. Awful food, awful service in comparison to the restaurants surrounding.

It says here on TripAdvisor that this restaurant closes at 10:30pm. Google says 10pm. Either way, the place was empty and we turned up just after 8:30pm to be safe. The guy was clearing away the food and said “sorry, closed, it’s been quiet”. I don’t care if you’ve been “quiet (read - not making enough profit). You’re running a business and closing so early before your advertised hours disappoints customers and wastes their time. Absolute disgrace. So unreliable. Made a special trip to come here because we wanted a buffet and they totally let us down. Never again. As an aside, the food he was “clearing away” looked dry as a bone and overcooked. Wouldn’t surprise me if they will put it back out on the hot plates all day tomorrow 🤮

I have been visiting this buffet for several years and am mystified by the adverse reviews. For some £14 one can enjoy a very wide range of dishes, regularly refreshed. To demand the standards of fine dining at this price is ridiculous and fails to recognise what the HK Buffet is offering: pleasant, copious food, without the frills. The staff lacks the skills of those in my Pall Mall club but are polite and attentive. If you object to plastic plates, then try the Ritz. If you want a good value, satisfying Chinese meal at a rock bottom price, then this is the place. Ignore the entitled moaners!

Super friendly, very clean, Asian taste, I spent years in Asia and for the price the food is fantastic! It’s all you can eat and they have a good variety of meat, noodles, rice, vegetable and salad! 100% recommended! I definitely come back here!!!

Llamado porque era el mejor buffet de todos los de la calle, nada de personal muy amable, muy ocupado, así que siempre es una buena señal (el gerente estaba comiendo su propia comida) así que conseguí estar bien. El arroz estaba un poco seco, pero aparte de eso, la comida era realmente buena. Sí, los baños son un poco incómodos, pero están limpios y ordenados. Sobre todo el 7/10 definitivamente regresará de nuevo.

Fui con mi esposa durante las celebraciones del año nuevo chino. Nos ofrecieron un asiento y nos dijeron que solo era efectivo y que teníamos que pagar por adelantado. Nos sentamos y dos minutos después, una pareja blanca estaba sentada junto a nosotros. Sin embargo, no se les pidió pagar por adelantado. En la otra mesa junto a nosotros vino una pareja oriental, pero tampoco se les pidió que pagaran por adelantado. Los dos somos de origen indio, pero somos ciudadanos británicos. Esta es la primera vez que experimentamos discriminación racial y hemos tenido suerte en ese sentido. Le preguntamos al gerente acerca de esto y él dijo que estaban solicitando un pago por adelantado de antemano, pero se detuvo cuando estuvo ocupado. No lo compramos. ¡Nunca más, y las patatas fritas estaban frías!

I think the folks that previously reviewed this were expecting a high class sit-down restaurant. This is not that but it good for what you get. It's a hole in the wall all you can eat Chinese buffet. 13 £ for as much food as you can stuff in your mouth. The food was average with a decent variety. We got plenty. It's cramped but you should expect this by looking in the window. It's part of this kind of experience after all. The service is decently good as well. You just need to realize what you are getting with a place like this.

Estábamos fuera como una familia en la ciudad de China y vimos el buffet de Hong Kong. Como teníamos los niños con nosotros pensamos que sería una buena idea. Puede estar equivocado. Desde fuera parece buena. Eso fue en la medida en que la impresión de ir. Por dentro es asqueroso no limpio. La "comida" no hay opción y ha sido por un largo tiempo. Los niños que normalmente nos encanta ir al buffet no podía conseguir nada más que sopa sin sabor. Cuando nos dijo que no nos impresionó no parecía importarle.

Para la zona que está y sabiendo que es comida china, está bien, fuimos con mi hijo que le encanta la comida china,y la ventaja del buffet es que cada uno coje lo que quiere, las dos sopas se las añadí a los fideos arroz y verduras de todo tipo y estaba muy bueno ,yo en estos sitios opto más por la verdura,pero mi marido e hijo son más de todo y la costilla y el cerdo agridulce les gustó, lo que son más pobres son los postres, pero como estábamos tan llenos,tomamos piña de postre, 47 £los tres, una cerveza un refresco y un té, para ser Londres y la zona está bastante bien, tienen una opción para llevar una fuente con todo lo que quieras meter por 7£.

Fuyiez cet endroit!!!!! Aucun plat du buffet n'était mangeable.. la viande est sèche et à l'air très vieille. On voit à peine les légumes dans les rouleaux de printemps. Il n'y a aucun dessert mis à part des morceaux d'ananas en boite.

Stopped here with two friends this evening. From the outside it looked okay. £12.95 all you can eat. For that part of London we didn't think the price was too unreasonable. Drinks are reasonable. Soft drink is a rip off at £2.30 for a 500ml of Coke.Food. Oh my gawd. Stale, tough, cold, over cooked and tasteless. There's not a great selection of starter food. The prawn toast was lacking any prawns and was so tough and dry. The noodles and rice were very over cooked. The main course selections were also cold. We we complained. We were told 'Just dig down to the bottom of the panThe staff couldn't wait to turn the table. A gent came in while we were eating and was on his own. They moved the poor man three times to different tables so that they could make full use of the available space. They also have the cheek to add a 10% service charge to the bill. This is well advertised on signs so not a shock. But as you have to go and get your own food I'm at a loss to understand what service you're paying for. We paid £62 for three plates of food we couldn't eat. Best part of the visit were the drinks. They couldn't muck them up.On the way out I warned a few people waiting to maybe try elsewhere. A few took the advice. I've rarely written a bad review and normally see the bright side of situations. But could genuinely see nothing positive about this place. Really disappointing start to the night out.

This is without question the worst restaurant I have been to in my entire life, and I've been to hundreds. The selection is below average and is honestly disgraceful, the place is an absolute disgrace. Roast chicken red raw in the middle, toast hard as rock, sweet and sour chicken that might as well be stones in sugar water, absolutely horrendous. My partner became violently sick afterwards after eating the prawns. The atmosphere is dreadful, genuinely the worst I've ever seen, I can imagine a homeless shelter food hall is more lively, this place is like the saddest place I've ever seen. Some food is searing hot, some is cold. The dessert selection consists of mango jelly, orange slices and pineapple chunks, the staff look like they're on the verge of suicide, what an utterly depressing place, avoid like the plague, or you might end up feeling like you've caught the plague eating here. £11.95 for a buffet, plus service charge (which they make a big deal about if you don't pay). You could get three full meals at McDonalds for that, and you'll feel less ripped off. There is a reason this is 2/5 stars, honestly I can't believe it has that.

I will never complain about my local Chinese takeaway again. Visited this place two days ago, shabby miserable interior which felt nothing like being in a restaurant. Small bland cheapo buffet selection, labelling above the food had no relevance to what was below. I should have read the reviews and stayed away. The 10% service charge is an absolute joke. We didn't stay for long and didn't eat much either.

Surprised by the poor reviews on here. For a buffet there isn't a large variety but that's expected of a small restaurant. The food was nice enough, and very good was the melt in the mouth sliced beef in black bean sauce and the very crispy fried chicken wings. The price is what you would expect of a buffet. I was full and I felt value for money.

Reasonably priced Chinese buffet. Food was always pretty fresh and there was a fair bit of choice and as you would expect. The place could do with a revamp and going to the toilets was a little like something out of a horror movie but all in all it was enjoyable. Staff were friendly and always cleared the table promptly when you were getting a new plate.
