Hong Tai Takeaway in Staffordshire Moorlands

Quick friendly service, we're visiting the area and fancied a take out Chinese. There was plenty of food and the crispy prawns the best we'd had. We had to wait as we'd arrived early but the staff were talkative and very polite- I wish we lived nearer.

Black Pepper Duck with Egg Fried Rice. Black pepper sauce had a good flavour, not too sweet, duck was crisp, vegetables cooked well. However the amount of sauce only came up to midway within the container it was presented in leading to it being spread a little thin considering the £7.70 without rice I'd expected more. Egg fried rice. Had the appearance of boiled rice with egg in it, likely due to the fact that it was clearly not seasoned with soy sauce, rice did not have the consistency I would attribute to fried rice either. Average meal but not blown away

Came here and orderd food for myself and hubby plus for the kids on our way home after a few drinks and we had just paid just over £30 and then forgot to add a won tons so went to order them again went to pay and they wouldnt let me pay with card unless i ordered over £10 this is shocking wen id only just spent over 30quid with them i wont b goin again food was crap aswell so i felt robbed Avoid at all costs very rude

Last time I ordered from Hong Tai, the food was good but they omitted a side order of crispy seaweed, fortunately the manager remembered the mistake and I finally got my seaweed 3 months late! This time I had the set meal for 1, which is great value at £11. Just make sure you are really hungry or get a friend to share!

Ordered from here before when in the area and it usually been ok. Chicken fried rice was extremely bland. Chicken balls very greasy and salty. Not the best. Chinese takeaways where my partner lives are far better.

This is now an ongoing issue. Food is ordered through the website and a delivery time given... Again we are waiting a full two hours, after ordering. This is not good enough.. We shall start to Order elsewhere.

Very nice food but for £6.80 a main, the boxes should come full of food, unfortunately not the case. Would order again, but hope the boxes are brimming next time! Thank you

twice now we have waited 1.5 hours then 2 hours for our delivery. Its over priced portions are small food not even that nice anymore. I wont be ordering from them again.

It’s a really shame we have used this takeaway for a long time and the food is great HOWEVER the customer service is TERRIBLE advised delivery is 1 hour after 90mins tried to call to chase the food delivery no one answered to the phone after two hours the drive turns up. This was too late by now as we had already eaten. Staff and driver not bothered that they had failed to delivery on time or even close.IF YOUR HUNGRY AND WANT DELIVERY AVOID AND GO SOMEWHERE ELSE. it’s a real shame

We were staying nearby for the week and had two takeaway meals from here. Both were well prepared and all you can ask for a takeaway. Well recommend.

Please save your money and eat elsewhere. 3 chicken dishes and 1 noodle dish, all the chicken dishes were like rubber, and well over cooked. called them to report this, offered a replacement, but NO refund. All thrown away...

this was the worst Chinese I have had. Poor quality rubber like meat. Don't bother go elsewhere. Contacted after and they don't care.

Large spring roll had no meat in whatsoever, just full of bamboo shoots. The satay chicken was also extremely chewy!

I rang the proprietor Bobby to explain that I had a bad reaction to the food... I found it completely inedible and disgusting. I’ve gone through cancer treatments and also a recent hip fall/surgery. My appetite is not the best but I can’t believe how disrespectfully I was spoken to by this man. I shall not be returning and I certainly won’t be recommending this establishment to any of my friends or family. Dreadful on every level.

We found the app very good helped us place our order as we was not from this area. So as we was not local was unsure what we would get. But may I say it’s was lovely all off it. If we are every round this area again we will definitely be calling again x

We had a takeaway from here for 7 people, food was delivered 30 mins earlier than expected which was fine for us. Food was lovely, absolutely no complaints, food was really hot and we had everything we ordered. Would highly recommend!

great food fast delivery always delivered hot unlike most take away's in the area. There is lots to choose from the english dishes are very good too specially the steak. Order online then there is never normally a problem with missing items ect.

Stayed self-catering in Moneystone, in the back of beyond. We were a bit skeptical of ordering takeaway so far from Cheadle and in a house so tucked away down a track. We needn’t have worried. The meal arrived on time as promised with the driver ringing en route for final directions.And what a meal!! We ordered the set meal for four, with no alterations. It was simply sensational. Beautiful food, wonderful ingredients and well cooked. The portions were just enormous. Four? This could’ve fed eight!Well done Hongtai! No hesitation in thoroughly recommending you

Having found this by chance we now order regularly and receive restaurant standard food which we have delivered, we really wouldn't go anywhere else now. The food is always hot and the delivery drivers are very friendly. Excellent work Hong tai, we will see you again on sat evening.

Great food and service. The spicy noodles were actually spicy, the Cantonese duck was in a marvellous sauce and the chicken balls were not greasy. Everything else was equally as good, even the price. Delivered in good time too. Thank you for a terrific experience.

Chicken balls were stringy and not nice, Son tried 1 & was poorly. Chicken & Duck rice - rice was hard, duck fatty & a horrible blobby sauce. Chips were reheated & awful. Won't use again.

We ordered on a Saturday night and was told it would be around 90 minutes due to peak time. However the food arrived after 40 minutes. The food was really good, my favourites from here are the crispy chicken noodles and the ribs. If you want great quality, tasty, satisfying Chinese food then this is the place.

We have ordered food from Hong Tai before and it has always been reasonable, however we will never go again. Firstly we ordered the food and paid on line, we thought this was a fairly simple process and also liked that we could track our order, when it was taken, when it was being prepared and when it was being delivered. This service is a scam and doesn't actually tell you anything, it is obviously an automated service which the takeaway fail to tell you as a customer. We waited for 70 mins despite being told by the online tracker that our food was being delivered. I decided to ring and enquire, I was greeting by a female voice who almost blamed me for ordering the food and when I become upset when she told me the food order hasn't even been received she told me "well it's notice fault" actually it is your fault, the takeaway had taken my money but had no recollection of an order being placed. The female asked me to tell her what I had ordered, I explained "smoked chips, garlic fried rice, mushroom chow main, chicken balls with sweet and sour sauce and two cans of Diet Coke" she advised me that it would be 10 mins. When the food arrived there was no "sorry" from the driver, she didn't know anything about the issue anyway, no one had thought to tell her. Then the food, oh dear, they had sent two portions of chips (not smoked), chicken balls with sweet and sour sauce (they were at least right), garlic fried rice (right again although we didn't think there was any garlic in it), mushroom chow-main (the best thing we had), some kind of chicken with chilli (we didn't order and couldn't eat as I have an intolerance to chilli), prawn crackers and finally no cans of Coke. My worry with this is that if my intolerance had been bad enough to cause me significant harm then i could have been really ill. I was going to complain, but as my partner pointed out, the girl on the phone obviously wasn't interested and neither was the manager who she spoke to regarding my order in the first place, or I would have had an apology in the first place. Shame but I don't think we will go there again. And be warned, you might not get what you order in the end anyway.

Pedí una comida para llevar en Hong Tai antes esta noche y tengo que decir que la comida y el servicio era simplemente excepcional. No estoy terriblemente bien en el momento y el único líquido caliente que he tenido últimamente es sopa! Yo admito que no logramos todo pero estaba cocinado a la perfección, felicitaciones al chef, entregado rápidamente, no puedo encontrar ningún defecto. Yo recomendaría este para llevar, rara vez comer de comida para llevar, pero yo sé que la próxima vez no será, Hong Tai mi elección sin duda. Un cliente muy satisfecho. Gracias Hong Tai

DONT GET CAUGHT OUT! The delivery fee is very expensive. I had to pay £3.50 to just get it delivered about half a mile. It originally lists it as just £1.20, but then an additional £2.30 is added at the end.
