Hong Kong in Coventry

The food is always lovely cannot fault it, delivery is amazing. Bearing in mind we order on a fairly regular basis and only live 0.7 mile away not only have they put their prices up but they now have the cheek to charge us £4.80 delivery

We drive across town to go to this takeaway as we love the food, and it's always good! Really good prices too. A while back, we tried somewhere closer to where we live. Big mistake. Back to driving here. My son raves about the ribs. I love the chow mein.

Ordered food here a few days ago, and was expecting some good food from one of coventry's top 5 Chinese restaurant. The chow main was good, however the sweet and sour chicken was very BIZARRE. It was literal slices like the sandwich chicken meat slices in a sweet and sour sauce needless to say I didn't touch it. In addition, the dish itself was very poorly made with little effort with about 5 cuts of peppers and with what looked like freshly opened tinned pineapples. An extremely sad dish. I can only compare it to a 1st year University dinner from a lad that has made it on his first night way from his parents. Overall, the order was VERY disappointing.. had instant regret of wasted money. Which makes you wonder if the people of Coventry had voted for this as top 5 they all must have no tastebuds. I usually make a Chinese fake-away but was lazy to do so that day. It's true what they say if you want the job done right.... do it yourself. With this said they service was good and staff friendly. Just a shame about the food.

Fantastic food and very friendly service, Steve and the team do an excellent job - highly recommended. The curry in particular is superb!

The people working there are friendly but the food is not very tasty. The curry smelt nice but had no taste at all, the meat in all the dishes especially the beef was very low quality which has been boiled and is so chewy and tough its difficult to eat. I will not be ordering from there again.

I went in as I fancied a spring roll and they did have the old style large ones I love. The mushroom foo young was fantastic and mushrooms in sauce never tried before they was to die for and the staff were very happy to help me. It was very clean a a 5 in the hygiene from the council will visit again soon

Prepared 12 meals for us at short notice. Food was great, really tasty, and generous portions. No complaints at all. Only catch is that it is cash payment only.

Been coming here for 20 years and never dissatisfied. Portions are generous and the food is always lovely. Topped off by Steve who is a pleasure to chat too. My wife is very fussy and this is the only Chinese she enjoys.

Spent all day today looking forward to having a chinese takeout. Rang them at opening time to order. no answer. I went up there incase the phone wasn't working and they were closed even though they said online they were open. Does anyone know why they weren't open today (Monday 23rd August 2021)

My whole family have used this take away for decades and we would never use another for chinese food because you cannot beat the quality. The dishes are delicious, and the perfect size- my mum and dad love the chop chicken curry, brother and sister rave about the chicken and pineapple and I'm the odd one out being a vegetarian so I love the vegetarian Singapore chow mein. I am sure every dish on the menu is tasty and made with love so I highly recommend giving the Hong Kong a try.

Friendly staff although that's where it ends. The portion sizes are big enough for a small Chinese chicken to eat perhaps of which half of the portion is oil. If you're after rice and stuff that's cheap for them to purchase then this is your spot. The food quality is quite poor also the chicken is like rubber due to being in the fridge with the other meats. The meal was very bland, lack of spices or anything creative with little to no meat. Overall 2/10 the rice isn't too bad probably the only thing that was freshly made and given a good quantity of surprise surprise. Never again most disappointing food I've ever had in my life including microwaved meals so really says a lot.

Just had chicken with green peppers and black bean sauce so tasty and full of flavour. Would definitely recommend, been going there 20 years no complaints.

Ordered what we thought was going to be amazing but got delivered cold bland food Very disappointing to say the least! You can buy better food for your dog than this crap bland non Chinese crap! Never again would I eat here or recommend this as a Chinese food outlet! Shockingly bad!!!!

Unfortunetly my expirience with them were not that good as other people were post on webside.the beef was so dry and cold like it was stored for a few days in the fridge.spring rolls was stuffed with massive amount of bean sprouts only no seasoning at all and under coocked.that was my first and last time having food from them

Always go here with my family for a takeaway and have done all our lives ! Gorgeous food and it is spotless in the takeaway itself. Such lovely staff too. Will be coming here for many years to come !!

Lovely tasting food ,great service

1st time and last time.. salt n pepper chips and it was like a ton of seasoning dumped on chips. feel sick chucked straight in bin 14 down the sink.

So here I was looking on trip advisor for a Chinese that would deliver to my hotel when I came across Hong Kong takeaway. I called them up and placed my order. Called them straight back as forgot to order a bottle of water-they don’t sell water but no problem, Steve popped to the shop for me and also brought some cutlery for me. Food was here really quickly and absolutely delicious. Excellent takeaway and outstanding customer service. 100% recommend.

Tried once and simply the best Chinese food take away in coventry. Always served with a smile. Steve is superb at what he does. We are regulars now 👌🏻 By Bearded Fella 😊

First time using hong kong Beautiful food and fast thank you

We actually live in Allesley Park (about 10 minutes drive away) but as I was passing I got a take away from here as had one in the past and remembered it being good. I had a mushroom chow mein (extensive vegetarian menu available) and husband had a king prawn dish. I was concerned about it going cold on the way home but it was still very hot when I got home. We both agreed best Chinese Take away we have had and are going to drive there in future when we want Chinese food. We have tried numerous takeaway's in our area and never bother returning...always disappointed with them. Now we have one to go to! Totally worth the drive. I noticed they have 5 star hygiene rating too which I always check! Just try it!

Great food and Steve is a top guy..

Nicely cooked tasty meals, vegetables were perfect, not too hard nor too soft. Good quality cuts of beef and chicken, no gristle in either meal and very tender. Rice was moist and flavourful. Two people fed for £12. Thanks :)

I believe this traditional Chinese takeaway is the original Chinese takeaway in Coventry and has been going since 1969 (according to the sign on the shop front). It has an up-to-date 5 stars rating from the council in terms of hygiene and cleanliness. I have eaten food ordered from here twice in the past few weeks. The first time I ordered a Chinese chicken curry with egg fried rice for myself. It was good and any of their curry dishes are recommended. The second time I ordered more food (as not only me eating this time) - Singapore noodles (brilliant), chicken with green peppers in black bean sauce, egg fried rice and prawn toast. Really enjoyed it and can't fault the food. Steve the manager will look after you, although they are closed on a Tuesday.

Just a note to the first reviewer...this is a different Chinese take away. The one in Holbrooks is called Hong Kong Kitchen. Bits surprised about that one too tho...never had a bad meal from them either...

Very friendly staff (Steve) Reasonably priced, good quality food. Not open on Tuesdays though !
