We were on holiday near here, enjoyed visiting many craft bakeries but only spotted this one the day before we left. Went in on the day we left to get some rowies (butteries) to take home: they were put in a white paper bag. The counter is high, with display cases. Only discovered when we got home that two of them were well fired to the point of being burnt. How did the server (Saturday boy, I think) believe that was okay - but why had the baker chosen to put them on sale? Maybe some local like them like that, but please ask. However, there was a delightful range of baked goods, and my sister enjoyed the wee custard creams we brought her. So caveat emptor - buyer beware! Check what they are giving you.

Popped in for some fresh breakfast rolls and a couple of cakes on our recent visit to Banff. The rolls were prepacked, small and dry at a premium price. The cakes weren't much better.

This is a fabulous bakery with a great range of breads cakes etc. Obviously, being Scottish, they also have a good selection of pies and while we were buying a macaroni cheese pie (which was very good) I also noticed a lasagne pie, which is a new one on me. It was fabulous! We also had lovely service from the lady who runs the business along with her baker husband.

We were there during the Haal festival and the restaurant was very efficiently run and the food was great.

The chippy is just up the road from us but we probably only pop in to get chips once a month to go with a meal we are making. The chips are always good these days, as is the service and the staff are really helpful. On more than one occasion I’ve seen them going above and beyond to help out a member of the public. Also really pleased to see the phasing-out of polystyrene trays and plastic bags in favour of paper and cardboard over the last few years. Fish could always be bigger but you could say that about any chippy these days and the last few fish I’ve had have been really good. Highly recommended.
