Holy Cow in Islington

Cold food, again. Driver wandering round for 20 mins, spotted having a cig! Restaurant offered no small gesture for cold food and wait time

I have ordered many takeaways from Holy Cow and always had good service but the last two have not been good and this last one was terrible. Ordered a takeaway last week on their website waited an hour and half for delivery had to ring chasing them -told it was on its way but it wasn’t. When food eventually turned up it was barely warm. We then discovered they took two payments of over £55 - went to the shop two days later and showed them the payments that had been taken from our online bank record. They took a photo and said the manager will pay it back - 3 days later still no refund - rang the shop and told manager not there but they spoke to manager and he will pay it back in two working day - it’s now been 3 days and still nothing - would never recommend this

I’ve never had a bad meal from Holy Cow Archway; the food is delicious but there are often inconsistencies with getting the order right. Tonight the mint yoghurt was missing from our starter and no mango chutney was delivered with the poppadoms. I never know what comes with them because it’s not stated on the menu. Sometimes I order two and get six. Sometimes I order mango chutney and onion salad and I get two of each. They need to do final checks before sending orders out; not sure if the mistakes are just carelessness or because they’re so busy.

A pesar de que solo recibí una parte del pedido correcta, cuando llegó la comida, en el mejor de los casos era comestible. Cortes de carne pobres y secos, verduras cocinadas a muerte, obviamente arroz recalentado y todo sazonado de forma errática. Guarda tu dinero.

Esperamos casi dos horas para que nuestro pedido nos dijera que duraría aproximadamente 55 minutos. Siendo un sábado por la noche entiendo la demanda pero no tanto tiempo. La comida era tibia en el mejor de los casos y no había popadums gratuitos que suelen dar. Este lugar ha empeorado con los años, lo cual es una pena porque solían ser grandes. Lamento la calidad de la comida en general y no los volveré a usar, lamento decirlo.

Pidió una comida para llevar por 2 cantidades totales. Se dijo a 58 horas, 1 hora después de 1 hora en que el conductor llamado estaba en camino, 1: 5 horas más tarde, ¡no pudieron decirme cuánto tiempo tomaría! 2. 5 h más tarde llegó la entrega les dijo que lo mantuvieran en la carretera 1. ¡5 horas de servicio absolutamente atroz no pierdas tu tiempo! Fuming?

Spent a fortune on a take away. Waited over an hour and a half for delivery to get cold food and wrong food. When I complained a rude young man told me "what do you want me to do about it, have you seen the weather out there it's cold". I told him to come back and get the food and refund my money please. He continued to be rude and made me wait 45 minutes to get my money back. Would never order from them again customer service is everything to me. Food has always taken ages to arrive but I've always made allowances when really I should have not. They need to get there act together

My husband’s birthday dinner. Only half my delivery turned up. At first they tried to fob me off with an offer to credit my next delivery and when pushed said it’s because they didn’t have any drivers around. Eventually agreed to deliver the rest within 20 mins. It took 40 mins. Won’t be ordering from them again- shame because we’ve been loyal customers for years and the food is tasty.

great flavours and fresh ingredients make this our go to place for spicy food. the vacuum packing really helps keep it all fresh too

So, we’ve ordered from here a few times and it’s normally great. Tonight it’s valentines (which is not why we’re ordering but we know it might be busy) so we leave ample time for delivery. The allocated slot passes and then by some considerable time, but when we try and call it’s busy or no pick up. Two hours later, no food and no contact from them. Terrible. Won’t use again

We have ordered from here for over 4 years. The food is good, one of the best take out places around. However the service is getting worse all the time. Delivery takes minimum 1 hr and they frequently get orders wrong. Forgot my main dish last time and when I called they only offered to replace it in 1hr or take the missing item off the bill. No offer to deliver it quickly while the rest was still hot or to give us a discount on the rest of our meal which was basically ruined since one of us had no main. Pretty poor customer service that. Will be looking for an alternative.

Ordered from this restaurant last Saturday night . Really good food I have to say the quality was excellent. Salmon seti with really good chunks of fresh salmon with superb flavour The chicken and vegetable biryani was also very good with great flavour . I was very impressed with the quantity of meat in the dishes and the lamb Bhuna was delicious Well worth trying as a takeaway option as the food all turned up hot and ready to eat

Tried this place out as new to the area. Ordered face-to-face and the food was ready within 10 minutes. The staff were pleasant and prompt and the lamb biryani and garlic naan were of a decent quality at a fair price. They included a couple of popadoms with dips too, which was a nice touch. Would definitely order from them again.

Proprio holy cow 🐮. Posto simpatico dove non ci si annoia. Ottimo steak house e ottima carne. Forse un pochino costoso.

I ordered a takeaway from Holy Cow because I know I can expect good quality food and premium service. However, I ordered a takeaway at 20.11, expected for delivery by 21.11. After not receiving the takeaway by 21.15 I phoned to ask where it was and was told it was "just leaving" so would be with me in less than 10minutes. When it still hadn't arrived by 21.30 I phoned back again to be told I would receive it in 20minutes. I had to push to get 10% off which, at a value of £3.70, felt this was not satisfactory so pushed back further. I was told that I would get 30% off but I'm yet to receive any kind of discount. The food I finally received needed heating in the oven. Totally not worth the wait, strongly recommend going elsewhere. And I will be phoning the shop in the morning to get the discount I was promised!

Always good, quick delivery. Fresh good quality food, well seasoned and they'll cater to special requests

I just love this place, I rarely visit, but I order takeaways frequently for those days I just can't be bothered to prep food. It is simply excellent. Yummy dishes and fresh ingredients, and nothing feels heavy like some Indian takeaways, all in all well balanced and full of flavour. Highly Recommended!

Used to use Holy Cow regularly for our Friday night takeaway. Stopped as the food became very poor in quality. Lamb was very chewy / tough. Spice levels changed between mild to super spicy even though we were ordering the same dishes.

Actually, probably the best Indian takeaway in all of London, though I can't claim to have tried them all. Fantastic, authentic, subtle flavours, and never too greasy. Best of all, the service is unsurpassed and the turnaround time from phonecall to bell ring is astonishing....

Este lugar es increíble. He estado varias veces y cada vez ha superado a sí mismo. El jaiselma murg en particular es fantástico, el paneer Mutter también es genial. Recomiendo encarecidamente
