This place is so unhygienic! The food was awful, undercooked and seemed like it had been prepared over a week ago. Walked out annoyed especially when you struggle to communicate, very poor English!!

I wish I knew the name of the Mix Grill's proprietress/cook from Bombay, because she deserves star billing here for not only providing delicious curries day in day out, but also for working so hard and staying so cheerful and welcoming. From the outside Mix Grill looks like any old doner/burger joint and if that's your bag, they have it; but you would be missing out. For one thing, her home made chicken sheekh kebabs in flat naan that she bakes to order, are a far better "fast food" option. Or her delicious home-spiced tandoori or tikka chicken. But her curries are the true glory. Each day there's a juicy, tender lamb or mutton curry packed with flavours - cooked on the bone, of course, because that's where the full richness of the taste comes from and, besides, you can suck out the delicious marrow; plus a couple of chicken curries, one off and one on the bone perhaps, with biryani rice (spicy, with chunks of chicken in), plain rice, and three or four vegetable curries: dhal, chickpea, spinach, aubergine, potato, etc. Towards the end of the week there's always a fish curry, made with Indian Ocean fish in a lovely tangy sauce. On Sundays don't miss her heavenly chicken soup, bursting with flavours of coriander and cumin. An enormous and generous plateful of curry comes at £4.50 (2010 prices) to sit in and eat at the tiny table or at the bar-style counter at the back, using plastic spoon and fork, helping yourself to water from the tap at the sink. Mix Grill gets crowded at lunchtime with Asian posties from the Mount Pleasant sorting office opposite. There is no booking system. It's cramped and hot. And it's heaven. Backpackers should make the pilgrimage. One warning: if you're a bit prissy about surroundings, well it's a bit cluttered in there; and if you're squeamish about bone-in lamb, you might prefer something politer and far less tasty. The rest of us can enjoy her gorgeous hearty home cooking to the full.

Food arrived 2hrs 30mins after being ordered. The restaurant lied continually when we called to find out what was going on. No apology or offer to take money off. Rude on the phone and dishonest do not order from here.

No estaban bromeando!
