Terrible customer service really rude, terrible attitude from the waitresses. The behaviour was just awful. They got my order wrong too and carried on being incredibly rude!!! Did not expect to be treated so terrible whilst spending alot of money in the restaurant. Won’t be back!!

Absolute joke in here, these guy’s especially the daughter are not baby friendly, they hate kids aswell so arrogant and disrespectful, Food is nice but my god the price to sit and eat or takeaway is by far the worst place in Glasgow Over all aviod Replying to the daughter am guessing, cause the rest of your waiters are from Japan and there English isn’t as good as the arrogant daughter. Sensational food in a wonderful setting, it was a treat to dine there, absolutely first class in every way. I can't wait to go back and treat another friend to such a wonderful dining experience, the decor is stunning and the management have trained the staff to be discreet and at the same time....attentive and well informed. There were no down sides at all, it was worth every penny and I look forward to my next visit ❤️

Ok. Don’t be fooled by the high prices. I’ve eaten at a lot of nice places and as a rule of thumb you’d expect to get what you pay for. No so here. The food is decidedly average. The peking duck was very dry, the salt and chilli was akin to basic takeaway from pretty much anywhere and the sweet and sour chicken had almost no sauce. This is almost akin to overpriced buffet food. But that’s nothing compared to the service which is nothing short of horrific. Staff and managers literally speak openly to each other about customers and leer at them with disdain and resentment. I’ve never seen anything quite like it. The decor of the venue is fine, nothing crazy special but they have packed a huge number of tables into this place and it’s so noisy that a table for two can’t even hear each other without shouting over the crowd noise. This is not a fine dining experience by any measure. To make matters worse. The staff manager decided it was a good idea to abruptly break up a private conversation at the bar afterwards to pay a drinks tab that we hadn’t even finished. Sloppy, overrun, rude, loud and avg food. What the hell is going on here. If you want a nice, quality Chinese restaurant in Glasgow, I recommend Zhima on St Vincent place. We wont be returning to this place.

We were visiting Glasgow on holiday from Canada, this was our last night before returning home and I have to say what a fantastic restaurant. It is elegant and extremely comfortable at the same time, the staff were very professional and friendly. I had the pleasure of going with my relatives that also are regular customers and spending the last evening in a beautiful restaurant with the most delicious food. Until next time thank you for a lovely evening.

Excellent restaurant, staff very friendly, professional and very attentive throughout service, food was excellent and well presented. Slightly more expensive than a normal restaurant but well worth the expense, would highly recommend to anyone looking for a great meal. Have to book in advance as the place is usually busy, especially at weekends.

Lost £100.00 voucher and they will not honour it even though it was paid by card and I could provide proof of purchase. No serial number on vouchers for record purposes. Rude and abrupt reply. Be careful when purchasing gift vouchers as no record is kept and tough if you lose it.

Plenty of choice however EXTREMELY EXPENSIVE We had a private area specially arranged for a graduation dinner. The large table was good however the rotating carousel was too large for the table. The end result, evening totally spoiled as when turned it knocked glasses over. The disastrous result of this was my daughters very expensive white dress was covered in red wine. I mean literally covered. Staff did nothing to help. My daughter extremely distressed had to rush to the toilets which were at the other end of the restaurant to try and dry herself. The serving spoons hang over the edge of the serving Platters and as top is turned around will knock over everything in sight. NO ACTUAL APOLOGY GIVEN My daughter was amazing as she did her best by carrying on not wanting to spoil her songs graduation.... I am so angry..

Heard very good things about the food here at Ho Wong by a few halal food reviewers so decided to confirm they still serve halal by calling them up. Initially as soon as the Ho Wong representative answered, I greeted them and asked if they serve any halal meat and replied saying ‘no halal’. I then went on to reconfirm this and she repeated again that it is not halal. I then for the third time asked more specifically is the chicken halal in which she replied ‘no chicken and beef is not halal’. I then went on to say a few of my friends came a few weeks back and said it was halal which is why I was inquiring and to that I received a very rude and aggressive response which I was not expecting when I was speaking in a very nice tone. The representative went on to say ‘ why are you calling to ask if it’s halal if you already know it’s halal’. I was stunned to speak after this and after a few seconds of silence, she went on to say ‘chicken and beef are both halal’. I then decided to question her on why she initially said it was not halal as I was left very confused and eating halal is very important for us Muslims. Instead of giving me a reply she left the phone on and went to speak to someone else, I’m guessing in her native language, about this call very angrily which can be heard in her tone and heard her say ‘halal’ about five times. She then came back to the phone and cut it off. Very disappointed as this is a well known and respected establishment. Will pass this on to my fellow Muslim community.

Distinctly average. Food was generally ok and a little bland (Dim Sum was disappointing)- the rest just ok and nothing special. I did like the noodles. I would give 3 stars as the food was average but have taken one off as for this value I expect much better.

Without A Doubt The Best Chinese In Glasgow

I went to this restaurant after I was told that it is one the fine’s restaurants in Glasgow. Upon arrival we were met by an abrupt staff members but I didn’t pay much attention to that as it could be cultural differences. The orders came quickly and started to eat. I didn’t find the food to be in anyway amazing for the price tag but the set up is ok. We shared the first dish with my partner and when were just about to finish it and start the second, I felt something strange around my lips which turned out to be tangled hair with food. I Spat out what I was chewing and we both stopped eating. When we informed one of the waitresses, we were simply told “I make another”. Given how quickly the food came, it would have been from the same readymade stock and I didn’t want anything as I lost my appetite. No any apology or any attempt to appease us and when we asked what are they going to do with the bill we were told to pay for the second dish (that we started eating and stopped eating because of what happened) and the rice that came with the one there was the tangled hair in it. I would not have minded paying for the dish that was ok if the staff showed any sympathy or apology for the low standard of basic hygiene. It was not just the low hygiene standard but the poor customer service and the arrogance that was displayed that made me furious! A reply the following day offering an apology so that I go back and pay! lol

Went for lunch 2/5/24 have visited many times & its always fantastic. Staff don't chit chat but I like that.

It's been a few years since dining in Glasgow so headed to York Street to be disappointed it was closed. Thankfully we spotted it had moved to Waterloo Street. Although lunch time we opted for the a la carte menu. We were delighted the food is as delicious as we remembered it to be. Impeccable service. Thank you!

Went in to see if they had a table - the girl approached us and said wait here and I'll check and came back to say they were full - I asked if there would be a table later and she said very bluntly fully booked and turned her back and walked away. Quite rude and no need for it to be honest as I was only asking a simple question.

A varied menu that never fails to satisfy. It is real food, nicely made. They are also able to modify dishes for allergies ( a testament to the live kitchen)! The staff are attentive, professional and helpful. The decor is beautiful and it is a pleasure to eat here. Prices are reasonable for the quality and ambience. Definitely somewhere you could keep coming back to.

Amazing - Best Chinese in Glasgow Expensive but your get what you pay for It’s a must visit if you like Chinese food

We had a table of four which we prebooked on the day. Our table was for 8pm but we arrived earlier as we had parked already and they have a lounge so a couple of pre meal drinks. I have to say they staff were very rude, they seemed aggrevied that we arrived early and thought we hadn't booked. Explained our table was later and we wanted a drink first, the lady serving us snorted and walked off. Another waitress came over and was better. The meal itself was just average, mostly standard fair nothing extraordinary. The chicken soup was OK but I found the chicken a bit 'smelly' didn't seem overly fresh. Mains, I had chicken black bean sauce which was better but still not really any better than your standard takeaway food. The bill for four was £245 which in my opinion is way overpriced. Sure the restaurant is nice and looks great but the service and food doesn't justify the cost. Supposedly fine dining but it definitely isn't. I would not return or recommend this restaurant unfortunately.

Really lovely restaurant. Food was absolutely amazing. Lived upto the expectations set by everyone. The duck pancakes were just out of this world. So hard to get booked but really glad we managed. Staff were very attentive. The atmosphere was great as the place was packed. The only slight negative was that the service was slightly slow and we were asked to leave our table the moment we put our cutlery down. I understand it’s busy but another few minutes would have been good. Overall would highly recommend and love to go back in the future to work my way through the whole menu. The wine was also 10/10

I'm afraid my experience this afternoon was not the greatest,as a family of five we booked for a mother's day meal,the service was poor the staff looked and acted if they had been sacked,the food was mediocre,when the appointed time came for us to vacate they couldn't have been more clock watching,when we went to collect our coats they they were thrown on the back of a couch minus one jacket,sorry won't be back.

This is the best Chinese food in the whole of Glasgow I ate here for my girlfriends birthday and it was fantastic

Absolutely horrible service we had yesterday lunchtime... was looking forward of going for such a long time but it was really disappointing.. the lady waitress looked and spoke to me like I was stupid when I ask about the spring rolls if they were chicken or veg and no one came to ask if we liked the food I was at one point saying something to the waitress about the water and she just walked away won't be going back.

Amazing meal as always been going for over 20 years and the service and food is the best in Glasgow if not the UK. Thanks for looking after my daughter so well she loved her kids chopsticks and never seen her eat so much. See you soon.

The best Chinese restaurant in Scotland!

Went on Christmas Day dinner was amazing and the service was the best..cant praise the staff enough.

Went for Christmas dinner, we were welcomed by a crowd of people waiting to be seated as they still hadn't turned over the previous sitting, which was ok. Once we sat down, 20 mins to take our drink order and 45 to take our food order . We ordered soup and spare ribs as a starter, so nothing particularly complicated but they took 45mins to come out. Mains were served over an hour after starters. Given the long wait we asked if we could have some prawn crackers which they tried to charge us 11£ a basket for. Service was not only slow, but most plates were basically tossed at us on the table. Desserts were basic (no surprise there) however cheesecakes came frozen solid and sent back. Very crammed and noisy environment with no music or ambiance. Sat 3.5h for a 3 course meal, with waiters only turning up to try and pour our wine to get us to drink more without clearing empties. Overall, really poor service and quality of food, could've gotten the same quality from a takeaway and paid a fraction of the price. Wouldn't go back or reccomend

I went to the ho wong on Saturday with family and friends. We love it there as the staff are Soo friendly and always welcome you in and get seated quickly. Everyone is just Soo attentive and want you to have the best experience. The food is amazing and I can't fault them on anything, as we have been there before and Everytime it's just amazing and the atmosphere is quite nice. Would highly recommend.

my niece who is 11 was accused of putting a hair in food and the guy paraded the hair very rude and not great customer service and made her feel bad i have been in the service industry for 27 years and not come across such arrogance we paid £500 for our meal and they said they needed the table not a great night as we where celebrating our family and our 40th wedding anniversary if it wasn’t for my family you spoilt our night also when i spoke about my dissatisfaction he he waved his fist never would i recommend this restaurant looks like they where just there for the money

Best Cantonese in all of Scotland!

Really enjoyed eating at Ho Wong. The staff, the food, and the ambience were all spot on. The best dish has to be the Hot and Sour Soup and Honey Chicken. Highly recommend.

We had booked a table for four at 5pm and arrived on time, Lovely decor and surroundings, After being seated I immediately felt one member of staff a bit pushy for us to order and I had to ask if we could have a couple of minutes to look over the menu and discuss what we would be having, Service was very quick after ordering and although I had to wait for my order that was delivered to our table to be changed because it was wrong and not for me generally everything was fine, Food was to be honest nothing to write home about and was a bit pricey for what you get, Atmosphere was generally good although very noisy at the rear of the restaurant, I noticed there was an older man standing in the middle of the restaurant and watching over all the staff and it was himself who eventually took our payment and this is were it upset myself and our party, My wife had taken a bit longer to input her card details as she was adding the tip and he said the card payment didn't go through and grabbed the card machine from her after a hand gesture and this made me very angry to be treated like this, The payment was fine after a second go but we felt that this member of staff was so impatient and so arrogant and he knew we were unhappy but it didn't bother him in the slightest, It made our departure a bit awkward having to walk by him and the look we got from him wasn't very nice, I personally wouldn't eat here again after this situation and there are definitely better restaurants in town and more appreciated of our custom.

I’ve been a regular at this mediocre restaurant for some time now. This dusty establishment has some of the worst attitude I have ever experienced and all for some average food. Take a long look in the mirror before you start your shift tomorrow and cheer up. 0/10 would not recommend. P.s You could do with upgrading to a better grade of beef while you are reassessing your customer service standards

Too expensive, I spent over 50 pounds for a take-away for two people(2 veg and 1 prawn only). Nice dec inaide though.

Will never come here again walked in at 5pm as they opened and tables were fully empty but they refused to give us a seat and said they were fully booked .I didn’t see any tables full.I will lever come back with my family again and neither will I recommend it to anyone.

My daughter was there with her partner last night for her birthday meal along with my grandaughter who is (7months old) the table was booked for 6pm , they were out by 7pm , not only that , on arrival they sighed and told them NO PRAMS , then they were put at at table away from everyone , everytime my grandaughter made a noise the staff were staring over they were rude and made them rush and feel unwelcome , what a waste of money on food that they didn't enjoy , didn't look up to much. Needles to say the won't be back . Not child friendly in 2023 SHOCKING

Absolutely fantastic experience but then again, it always is.

Food was 10/10 however, the service was disappointing. The lady in charge was extremely hard working - however we felt rushed - like we were on a conveyer belt. Giving constructive feedback to hopefully improve so we can return for a better experience. Thank you.

By chance I came across this beautiful restaurant in Glasgow tonight, staying @ Hotel Indigo it’s literally across the road, The exterior looked good, clean and well presented, upon entering the decor was stunningly beautiful There was a lovely bar area, with lots of seating, private yet social The welcome was excellent, even thou I was on my own for dinner as staying away in business, the restaurant had a real mix of large tables , couples and individuals didn’t feel uncomfortable at all Great menu, asked for recommendations Had the most tasty, delicate scallops with crisp asparagus so fresh and firm but extremely tasty in a mildly spicily chilli sauce with fried rice Couple of nice Chinese beers too The restaurant had Great atmosphere, service by everyone was unbelievable and decor was stunning Paid £45 approx for a delicious meal , well worth it and would definitely visit again in the near future In fact I’ve just arranged to bring my partner Great not good Chinese restaurants are hard to come by, I visit london often, with the Good Earth on Brompton Road and China Rose in Bawtry, South Yorkshire amongst the very best These are my two Nationwide favourites however this has just moved to being Top of the Lot My Glaswegian friend just asked where I’ve been I said HO WONG He said it’s by far the best in Glasgow I certainly struck lucky This was an excellent experience, not cheap but if anyone likes quality in food, service, decor and ambience visit this place - well worth it

Loved Ho Wong for the last 30 plus years. Great to see a Glasgow institution returning, and visited the new restaurant for the first time 2 weeks ago. Ordered ribs with capital sauce; meaty, tender and delicious! Likewise, the Chicken Satay and Spring Rolls. Visited for a second time this week ordered the ribs and could not have been more different; very little meat, tough and portion size cut back - as were the spring rolls on this visit. Satay was good again but chicken dish I had was disappointing. I advised the server of the ribs and she said she told her manager. But at no point did the manager follow this up and given that the ribs carry a £2 supplement I feel this is a big let down on their part. There seems to be more of a rush to get you out than there is to attention to detail and indeed to address customer feedback.

Wonderful food with great hosts. The decoration is a beautiful oriental design with teal and gold along with excellent lighting. The banquet for 6 or more was varied and filling also. Would highly recommend booking a d visiting if you are in town.

The interior is lovely and high hopes for this restaurant when I walked in £18 for 2 course at lunch, however food just tasted like your Saturday night Chinese takeaway. Service was very good. Need to try once.

Fantastic lunch menu and the service was rapid, exactly what is required for lunch. There were a high number of servers within the restaurant so the customer service was attentive, without being overpowering. Food was amazing.

First time dining at Ho Wong and have to say the food 🍲 was delicious 😋, staff very attentive and the place is amazing looking but all comes at a heavier price. Drinks are limited on draft beer and very expensive.

We were there to celebrate my sons graduation and this is a fantastic restaurant, the service and food was excellent and couldn't be faulted.

Gorgeous food and great bar/wine selections. We went for a family celebration and everyone enjoyed themselves.

We've been coming to the Ho Wong with our Parents since we were little when it was on York St, and we are still frequent customers in the new premises, and now my siblings and I have our own children and they are new generation No.1 fans, there's no place for Chinese food other than the Ho Wong! 5🌟

Food was ok, wasn't like Wowzas or blown away. Staff were trying their best to be off service for every little thing which was slightly annoying. Hanging around to refill, or serve your food. That's just a personal choice for me. Like to put my own food on my plate etc..

I have read with great interest some of the recent reviews, some of which are quite scathing ,my wife and I frequented the original premises at least once, if not twice a month until the closure. The new premises are fabulous, food as good as ever, and staff delightful. Ok there were a few teething problems, but you expect that with a new opening, we have dined there at least 15 times since the reopening in December and have loved every moment ..Trust me,it's the best! And incidentally if you are looking for chips and curry sauce, do us all a favour and go elsewhere, this is not what the Ho Wong is all about! I can see a pattern emerging with recent reviews, good luck and don't come back!

As big fans of the previous restaurant in York Street we were excited to dine at the new premises for my mum’s 60th birthday. We were not disappointed! The food was delicious as ever, the service was outstanding as always (I think previous reviewers who complain of “feeling rushed” don’t understand that the staff are just super attentive and efficient). The new decor is absolutely stunning too. Yes it’s not cheap but you are paying for a special dining experience and high quality food, it’s worth the money for a treat. Thank you for making a special desert for us on request (from the old menu) - it made our day. We will definitely be back. We don’t understand how there can be any negative reviews.

Can’t recommend this place enough, a must try!

Second visit and the food is just as lovely. Went for one of the prawn starters and aubergine tofu this time which is 10/10 so tasty. Amazing veggie selection and service. Would recommend 💫

I’m giving two stars the first time I visited was in Valentine’s Day and it was amazing everything, then second time was ok too but omg the third time I wasn’t felt welcomed and felt had to rush what to order the waitress nodded her head which to me was extremely rude wanted to say something but remained silent so for this reason I won’t be visiting again they need to up there game and treat customers with upmost respect like they do in dubai they need to look very closely at there customer service. It’s a real shame I would love to go again, but not feeling welcomed puts me right off unfortunately.

Visited the Ho Wong for lunch today. IT WAS SUPERB. I've hunted high and low throughout Scotland looking for the BEST EVER chicken satay and today I found it at the Ho Wong. My wife and our friend found their dishes equally as good in terms of taste and quality of food. Well done chefs and well done staff for making this dining experience so memorable. Will be back.

I don’t mind paying a bit more for the ambiance and OK food but at least be nice to your customers. We paid (including soft drinks) £32 a head for 3 course business lunch in what is supposedly Glasgows premier Chinese restaurant. Would be 5 stars if the staff were not so ignorant! Spent £160 - Our same lunch order in another top Glasgow Chinese restaurant is £70 with great attentive staff and food every bit as good.

Lovely set up, plenty of staff, very accommodating. I especially lived the round tables as it felt more inclusive and the staff stored our jackets for free.
