Since being gluten free I havnt been able to have a takeaway then I found this chippy and oh my the gluten free fish is better than the fish I used to buy when I was allowed gluten 😍

First time I've used this chippy for a couple of years and the food today was vile the fish was definitely gone off made me sick straight away and the chips looked like they was warmed up was not fresh I will not be using this chippy again I gave the shop a call and got answered by a very rude man and told there's nothing they're willing to do about it very poor customer service

Absolutely awful food, chips tasted awful and the kebab was hacked up chunks instead of slices, the sausage was also dried out and old. So disappointing as I’ve ordered before and never had anything like that!

Delicious gluten free fish & chip

I've ordered a couple of times now. I used Uber once & rang them myself the other. The service is excellent, the food could do with coming in one of the silver bags to keep it piping hot.. but it's always hot & never cold. The portions are 'very generous' & the taste good. The price is fair & inline with most chippies

cold food, took 1.5hrs for 3 kebabs and fish and chips and cost £60???

Received a battered sausage instead of battered mushrooms, fish batter appeared old and very greasy

So disappointed to have to be putting this bit I’ve had food from this chippy many times before mainly cause of how good their food is and the mixed wraps are lovely! Order came tonight and I’m sorry but this is disappointing and disgusting for the price I’ve paid! Not even wrapped properly Seems like cause it was a late ish order it was just slap it together don’t matter we want to go home! Was my new go to chippy but not after tonight unless they can rectify it

Delivered chicken nuggets instead of spicy wings and the chips were not good quality

This used to be our favourite fish and chip shop. My two daughters and two grandchildren came to commemorate the anniversary of my husband, their dad’s death, and eat his favourite fish and chip meal. My haddock was horrible the fish was dry the batter was cooked on the outside but soggy and raw in the middle , I couldn’t eat it, three others had mini fish, which was okay, and my granddaughter had halloumi which she really enjoyed. But we all had mountains of the driest not very warm chips, so not much was eaten at all, I paid £40.80 and was still hungry but didn’t want to complain on the night. I phoned the shop the next day and didn’t even get an apology, I will not be going there again.

Lovely food, huge portions, arrived piping hot.

It was just what I needed would of been perfect if it had more chilli sauce on but it was lovely the meat was nice and soft very happy with my food and the service

Extra £2.50 per piece of fish if you order online (only found out once went to collect and having paid for it, reason given being "website charges" verbally but not stated anywhere). Highway robbery. Will be reporting to trading standards.

We have used your chip shop regularly over the last few years but just lately over last few months I would say the standards have dropped dramatically and tonight was the final straw, we ordered our food online and had it delivered, however, rather than what we ordered which included a pork & gravy batch we received a tray of kebab meat with chilli sauce on, my wife’s doesn’t eat this so I rang the shop to report the issue, they apologised and said they would redeliver a pork and gravy batch instead, it arrived 16 minutes later, we live 1 street away from the shop, by the time it arrived the chips we had originally had delivered had gone cold so my wife had could not eat them with her batch, and then low and behold the pork gravy batch when opened looked like the attached picture!! 2 paltry pieces of pork and about half a pint of gravy! Really?! Absolutely shocking so now after paying for dinner my wife will not be eating and we will no longer be visiting the shop again, enough is enough, and I will no longer waste money when the service doesn’t match

The food arrived early, but the quality was really bad. The fish was fried with the skin on which I have never seen in any o the chip shop! The doner kebab was not fresh either. So overall a poor food quality for the £40 that was spend.

Anyone know of a chip shop that will deliver hot food? By the time our food arrived it was just about warm and the fish had dried up. The chips were ok but when a piece of fish costs over £9 you expect better.

This place is absolutely lovely! Staff is the kindest people you will ever meet and the price is good! This is my top chippy to go to and everyone I know loves it! Chips are absolutely gorgeous as well! 😊💞

Ordered 1 kebab 1 fish 1 chips 1 large curry sauce and 1 large mushy peas for delivery. Delivery was in a reasonable time about 1/2 hour but food was rubbish for £33.50. Two tiny pieces of fish soggy chips hardly any salad in the kebab for £33.50 a disgrace. It all went in the bin.

Ordered a grilled kebab salad. Tasted very bad. Quite good & fast service. But the food wasn't very tasty.

My order was 1 hour late last night through Just eat and I requested a part refund due to the inconvenience. I have received this text this morning. For context I live a 6 minute drive or 30 minute walk The restaurant isn't going to give you any money back for your delayed order. They say: "We're really sorry your order wasn't delivered on time. The driver was stuck in heavy traffic, sorry."

Order came early which was good but, one bag of chips was missing and also the food was awful. You could tell the chips had sat around for hours and the kebab was actually the worst kebab I have ever had. None of us could finish the food and will not be ordering from here ever again.

Forgot to put this up a week back - Great fish & chip establishment, with fantastic staff members. Food always arrives fresh, timely and delivery driver is polite.

I try not to use Hipswell anymore because of the terrible food, but after my visit today, I'll never call again. Everything is going in the bin. The chips taste nasty and bitter, the sausage in soft cake like batter is just grease. All this for £5.80. It's the last money you'll ever get from me.

Normally nice chips. But on that day it's as though the chips had been in the warmer for 3 hours as they were rank.

Been at the hospital all day and needed to get something to eat, so tried hipswell highway chippy. It blew my mind how much I enjoyed it... Crispy battered scallops and the burger was the best I have tried in any chip shop. Well done to the staff for making my meal enjoyable, so much so that's all I've been thinking of since I went there. 👍

Pork and chips not alot of pork. Put "on" time because they did say it would take 1hr 20 mins. But it was nearly cold so I suspect it left an hour before delivery and he had multiple drops. Had to reheat chicken burger and chips and microwave the pork and chips. Very disappointed. Won't make this mistake again.

Had a donor kebab and chips donor was lovely but for a chippy I had more black chips than edible ones! Would not recommend this chip shop unless your really desperate.

It took over an hour to get my food

Wasn't sure the 1st time so thought we would try again. 2 pieces of cod and chips. The fish was so dry neither of us could eat it. Very very disappointed. Have to find a new chippy.

Absolute class lately. Cooked to order and fresh as can be. By far the best chip shop now in this area in terms of fish and chips. Can’t comment on the kebabs etc but yes, way better than mega and Charlie’s keep it coming

ordered a few meals one of which was a kids meal for £7.15 and all I received was a scoop of chips and 4 nuggets. ordered a bubblegum drink with the meal which wasn't given in my order. very disappointed

I ordered Fish & Chips from Hipswell Fish Saloon: 29th Feb 2024 and unfortunately, the quality of the food was far below expectations. To put it bluntly, this was the worst Fish & Chips I have ever purchased online. The fish batter was supposed to be light and crispy, as advertised, but it was evident that it had been double-dipped in batter, which is an outdated technique that did nothing to enhance the flavour or texture of the fish. Instead, it made the batter excessively heavy and greasy. Furthermore, the chips were shockingly subpar. They resembled the gnarly nails of an elderly person, and they were so unpleasantly tough and overcooked that they were virtually inedible. Considering the total cost of approximately £18.00 for this meal, I expected a far superior dining experience. Instead, I was forced to discard the entire meal due to its unpalatable nature. As a loyal customer of Just Eat, I believe it is crucial to bring such instances to your attention. I trust that you will take appropriate action to address this matter and ensure that future orders meet the expected standards of quality. I would appreciate a prompt response regarding this issue, including any steps that will be taken to rectify the situation or compensate for the unsatisfactory experience. Completely missed a full meal from the order. Mistakes happen, but when you try and ring the phone says unavailable. Rang over 40 times. Not good enough, won’t be using again

Ordered a kebab and chips in a tray and scampi and chips. The chips here are always amazing, the curry sauce is on point, just like the curry sauce we got when we were kids. I say that because I think the taste has definitely changed over the years. There's always a queue but that's the sign of a good chippy. The kebab was tasty but not the best kebab meat I've ever had, could do with improving that.
