Hideaway Cafe in West Lothian

lovely little cafe serving really nice food and coffees . staff were rushed of there feet but nothing was to much trouble . clean warm envirement and the scones are to be recommended . we often pop in as its a wee gem

Very good cafe in an excellent location with fantastic views, serving brilliant coffee but most unusually for a Country Park, the cafe is not dog friendly (apart from the outside seating area). I don't know whether it is the Visitor Centre or the cafe owner(s) who insist on no dogs being allowed indoors, but either way it is a weird situation. I dare say the cafe does well because of the location, and it is a good cafe, but they must be losing a huge amount of business. The cafe was very quiet when I was there this morning but there were scores of people in the park walking their dogs. Yesterday around the same time, we were at the nearby Muiravonside Country Park and the very dog friendly Wee Coffee Cabin there was almost filled to capacity. We might go back to the Hideaway Cafe on the odd day that it is warm & dry enough to sit outside, but such days can be few and far between in Scotland. Wake up and smell the coffee folks!

My husband and I went to Hideaway Cafe for breakfast and it was tremendous! He had the full breakfast and I had a roll with square and tattie scone - both delicious. We also had two cappuccinos which were really good. Service was friendly, prompt and the premises was clean and welcoming. Will definitely return!

I was out walking with friends around the country park and found this little gem. We were all talking about being hungry and parched and were definitely glad to see this place and get a reprieve from the heat. The place was fairly busy and was clearly popular all the staff were lovely and nothing was a bother for them we picked up drink and placed our order then we sat down. Our food was out quick o our surprise as the place was very busy at the time so we definitely were happy. I love cafe food you can’t beat it and this place serve some of the best.

Lovely food, good choice of cakes and great views. Let down by one very rude member of staff refusing to give us a napkin or paper towel to wipe down a wet table outside. I had to take my tea into the toilet to get some toilet roll to wipe the table to let us sit outside 😞

This is a fantastic cafe. Located in Beecraigs Country Park, on the outskirts of Linlithgow, it is great place to pop in for a tea or snack after a walk. Any food I've had here so far has been cooked well and tastes delicious. I visit here often, and could not rate the place highly enough. The staff are all so friendly and accommodating, they make it an absolute pleasure to visit every time.

It's a beautiful café but it would be better if it allowed dogs inside during the colder days. Many older people who use the park to walk their dogs might find some well needed company with others, while keeping warm.

**** not an inclusive cafe*** We visited the cafe today with my nephews who were visiting from England. We ordered food for 6 adults and one child and chose to sit outside. My nephew is autistic and unfortunately was unable to eat outside as was too overwhelmed in the environment. My sister and her partner took him inside to try regulate him and help him eat. The staffs attitude was absolutely appalling, they approached the table and began being argumentative and incredibly rude. Despite explaining the situation they continued to not show any empathy. My brother in law offered to pay the extra for sitting in as it seemed this was the issue. They were told they should have informed them before purchasing food and despite explaining that they didn’t know my nephew would struggle with regulation outside, this did not change their attitude. Having lived in linlithgow all my life was actually quite upsetting how awfully they treated their customers when it came to supporting parents of a child with autism. They are very keen to promote how they adapt their food for allergies but clearly not their attitude to support two parents having a difficult time and just trying their best.

The food was okay but noticed that the staff were not very disability aware. You have to queue if the cafe is busy. I noticed 2 elderly ladies standing for quote a long time one leaning on a zimmer and no seat or help was provided. As both my husband and I have a disability that would put me off going back.

Mixed reviews. Firstly the positive… great options for allergies - I had a lovely df/gf cake and coconut flat white. Also caters well for dogs with free dog treats! However, in a park where many people go to take dogs a walk, I’m unsure why dogs are not allowed in the cafe. I had both my cockapoo and my 7 month old with me. The outside tables also don’t have a cover so if it was raining we wouldn’t be able to have visited at all. Luckily it was a nice day so we sat outside. My friend asked the cafe staff if we could take a could of highchairs outside since we were not allowed to sit inside with the dog, however the lady said no highchairs outside. This seemed a bit of a strange rule and meant that we both had to sit with our wriggly babies on our laps while eating and wasn’t particularly enjoyable. I think the cafe has great potential but dogs should really be allowed inside or have outside cover and highchairs provided for all customers regardless of where they’re sitting.

What a fab cooked breakfast all freshly cooked, prepared and served with a smile. Coffee was good too. Good sized plate,.

A return visit here ,usually for cake n coffee but tried breakfast this time as was staying on the adjacent campsite .Staff were welcoming and friendly as always and was very impressed with the freshly cooked breakfast .Had great filled rolls the day before in our motorhome and lovely French toast this morning .We were very impressed with the campsite so will be back for more breakfasts on return visits. Well done staff ! 👏

This cafe is excellent for Coeliacs. I had confidence that the staff understood GF requirements and cross contamination risk. Staff were friendly and helpful. Menu is simple standard fare (burgers, chips, sandwiches, cakes, etc.). Orientated towards families and visitors to the Country Park. Stunning views over the Forth Valley, Pentlands and West Lothian.

Best scone I’ve had in a long time (Bakewell tart scone?) - and amazing jam too! Sat outside as no dogs allowed in the cafe. Great views 🌄

Plenty of staff and very attentive and friendly. Toilets clean. Good selection of hot and cold drinks. We had a lovely day here so I opted for a cherry slush which came in a huge cup. The scone was amazing too, fresh and tasty. Seating indoors and outdoors.

Beyond helpful, and great service. Always helpful. Staff always cheerful. First class service. Ur customer is isolated and loves coming up to Beecraigs Hideaway. Thanks!

3rd time I've been to this cafe when mountain biking round beecraigs park and 3rd time the service has been immense. I am coeliac and the options, staff awareness and quality of food is just great, all staff go out of that way to make you feel at ease and there are gluten free awards all over the walls, it really is a safe haven for coeliac sufferers, that said even if your not coeliac then this this is still great place to eat when you visit beecraigs, 5 stars as round they're doing a great job here and I'll be back every time we are in the area.

What a wonderful surprise to walk in and see a whole fridge of GF options. Staff took coeliac v seriously, took my GF order first, made my chips in a separate frier and made me feel so confident eating here. The whole menu can be made GF which is just WONDERFUL! Friendly and accommodating staff too. Perfect for kids as there’s plenty of running around space outside. Would go back here in a heartbeat!

My husband has coeliac disease, so eating out is always tricky but being greeted with 'Does anyone have any allergies' was like music to our ears. We felt very comfortable ordering and felt very safe. They also had vegan options for me. Very inclusive and friendly staff. Beecraigs itself is a lovely country park, despite the rain we had a great walk through the woods after our meal and the kids had a play in the playground.

Nice wee friendly cafe, offering standard toasties and baked potatoes with a lovely side salad and the option to add soup. Dogs not allowed. Very reasonably priced and seemed very toddler friendly.

We have just completed a 3-night stay at Beecraigs park so we visited the Hideaway cafe. As a coeliac, I have always been cautious when eating out but this cafe is excellent. Everything on the menu could be GF. Food for GFs prepared separately, delivered separately with separate annotated cutlery. Chef in different apron. Chips cooked in separate fryer and so delicious too! The staff are friendly and helpful - thank you for such consideration. I have never eaten quality food with such confidence. Best experience ever for me!

Nice place in great location with superb views. The scone I had was definitely the best ever, clearly home made and the size was XXL. Worth going solely for the scone. Very friendly and helpful staff. 4 out of 5 stars because there are not many tables to sit at so had to take food out.

From lovely walks and a deer farm a play park and the most scenic views this cafe has the best location, but it doesn’t stop there! They have a small menu but everything on it is made well, fresh and to the highest standard, even a simple sandwich is a delicious masterpiece. We’re vegetarians and they cater well for us with the tastiest vegetarian options! The staff are always so accommodating and polite, and the prices are so reasonable! Fun day out which can start or end with a visit to this cafe, you won’t be disappointed Yum!!!!

We stopped here for a bite to eat after a walk round the country park and I am so glad we did. They cater for allergies, the entire menu can be made gluten free which is a first and they have dairy free ice cream. The staff were so helpful and friendly. We absolutely would come back here.

Stopped here for lunch and delighted to see they are great for GF. Good selection of options on the menu and also have Some GF cakes including a cheesecake! All very tasty and in a lovely location at Beecraigs with friendly staff.

Indoor and Outdoor seating nice little park, parking and clean toilets. The food portion sizes were good and the burger (which the staff recommended) was very nice. The staff are lovely, and helpful. I will definitely go back.
