So good. Proper BBQ pit, superb service, big portions, reasonable price, authentic and researched food. Best BBQ I've had in the UK alongside Smoke Barbecue when it was in Leeds/Sheffield. Even for a free cinema room!

Came with my family. Had a blast! The food was delicious, the staff were welcoming and friendly. The music and atmosphere created an awesome vibe and experience. Will definitely be coming back 100% ! 🤠

Food poisoning avoid! Went here on Friday the 25th of October with my wife and 2 children for my birthday meal! Was really impressed with the place and the service was phenomenal! They really went above and beyond on that side, it's also the first resturant I've been to that has a cinema which was a cool touch! I ordered the fried chicken waffle, when I was eating it they was an odd taste but I wasn't sure weather that was because it was my first time trying a sweet and savoury dish, so I carried on eating, when I returned to my car about 30 minutes after finishing my meal I started to feel extremely poorly! Like I was about to vomit, I haven't been able to eat or drink anything since and have been awake all night in the bathroom, completely ruined my birthday weekend because of this I can't reccomend Hickorys to anyone.

First time at Hikory’s I was very impressed service was amazing, drinks and the best brisket I’ve ever tasted. Great atmosphere. Gets very busy! But doesn’t feel overwhelming as seating is nicely spaced out.

Good service and delicious food

Me and my boyfriend came for his 21st birthday. Got an American country vibe to it which we loved. Food was amazing, a little pricey (around £30-£50pp) but totally worth it. The staff were so kind, checked that everything was alright and asked if we wanted more drinks etc… the berry good iced tea was 10/10. Our first time here but would recommend this to anyone thinking of going here and will definitely come back.

Ate here on Sunday. Booked weeks in advance when arriving we were told they were unsure if we had a table. Asked to wait in the bar area reapproached again unsure if they could seat us? The two share platters came dry ,Luke warm and abit sad looking the rest was ok. We had to practically jump on staff for additional drinks, puddings ,coffees etc Within 24hrs all of us had excess gas, the youngest vomited followed by another member from another house. We would have wrote this off as a bug had it not been that both families were unwell and those that didn't come out have been perfectly fine. Easy to say we won't be coming again or recommending to others.

Food is always excellent, one of our favourite places to go. Only ever had 2 issues, we were once forgotten about, we had to go get someone to take our order and once was an extremely noisy kids party that was out of control. We still return on a regular basis despite this.

First time visiting with my partner and it was amazing! Brett gave us his personal opinion whilst we were struggling to decide & he was great throughout. Constantly checking if we needed any extra drinks, sauces etc. we will be back with family, thank you Brett.

Always wanted to try one of these. But disappointed to be fair. I had the ribs which should be a BBQ staple and should be excellent. But no. Dry and came cold. Couldn’t be bothered to send them back if they can’t get something as simple as ribs correct. Iceland do a better box of ribs. Staff are good. But food needs to be a lot better. We won’t be returning

Hickory's is incredibly atmospheric, with delicious food and great service. It gets very busy towards the evening, so booking is recommended, although we did also do a walk-in on an occasion in the late afternoon with no problem. Parking also gets quite full up during those busy periods. The staff welcome you warmly with some complimentary popcorn. On the drinks side, beer is great, but the frozen cocktail I didn't rate - Miami Vice was very weak, like a fruit juice. We have tried that sharing platter, with no starters. It was plenty for two people, and featured all the great menu items.

Visit here regular and never disappointed both food and service are always spot on! This time our waiter was a young lad named Tyler who went out of his way to make our visit perfect, he made a huge fuss of our daughter who had just done a gymnastics competition that morning and he really made her day!! A big thank you to the staff at Hickory's Smokehouse Horbury for being truly amazing. We booked one of the outside cabins to celebrate what would have been our good friend's 35th birthday. He sadly passed away in June this year. When we contacted the restaurant and informed them about the occasion, we chose this place because our friend loved everything about the USA—he was a British cowboy at heart. Before the event, Sam, the manager, reached out to me to confirm everything was set and asked if there was anything extra they could do. It was so thoughtful of them to check in with us. When we arrived at the restaurant, they had gone above and beyond. They reserved the large outside cabin for us and decorated it with red, white, and blue balloons in tribute to our friend. They also provided a memory box with cards and pens so we could write birthday wishes and post them in the box for safekeeping. In addition, the staff gifted a beautiful bouquet of flowers to our friend’s mother, which was such a touching gesture. Kitty, the floor manager, warmly greeted us and gave us a tour of the cabin. They had even set up a special table for Paul with a bottle and something sparkly for us to toast him when we were ready. A special shout-out to Juice, Dave, and Foxy Roxy—the two team members who were assigned to us. Five stars isn’t enough to express how incredible they were. We will never forget the kindness and exceptional customer service they showed us during such a meaningful and emotional time. They even let us write messages on the balloons, and cleared an area in the beer garden so we could release them into the sky for him. Thank you all so much. You made us smile again when we needed it most.

Amazing American food, exciting menus

Great service here on Saturday lunchtime, good food and portion sizes. Staff went out of their way to make it extra special with a couple of cocktails to mark an occasion. Big thanks to the team!

Very busy on Saturday night, had to wait a while for table and food but the staff were brilliant and lovely food.

First time at Hickory ,and it was a great atmosphere and the food was great also price not too bad for portion size.They also do good stuff for kids too.

We went with a party of 8 for my daughters birthday. The staff were lovely and 7 meals were perfect but mine was overcooked. I ate it but mentioned it to the server at the end and the staff couldn't do enough to apologise. Both daughters (6 and 3) loved the cinema room and the popcorn, watching Moana kept them entertained all night, they didn't want to leave. All the family really enjoyed it, and we will definitely return.

Love this place great for families

The food, of course, was delicious. Tonnes of smoky barbecue flavour and I especially enjoyed the jalapeño sausages. But the best but was the atmosphere. I sat at the counter where you could chat to the chefs and the really made the experience fun. Highly recommend

Decent food terribly slow service Was for a birthday and we stayed for 3 hours in which we only had 1 course and 2 drinks After one hour of waiting we received our first course, within 30 minutes we'd all eaten but only had one drink within the 1.5 hours and I had to leave the table to go ask for drinks The drinks took 30 minutes to come and we waited another hour in hopes we'd ask for our desert order in which never happened so we left at the 3 hour mark as we'd given up

Booked hickory’s for my mums birthday this evening at 5pm and immediately delayed 20 minutes to a table. The food was great and arrived fairly quickly, however we must have been sat with our empty plates and glasses for over an hour. By 7pm we’d only had one drink and finally had our plates cleared away. We were very excited to try the desserts, but after having to ask for a menu and another 40 minutes passing by without being served, we asked for the bill and left. I’d also called prior to the booking to ask if we could sing to my mum for her birthday and the server told us they would, this never happened. They were really busy tonight but clearly need to hire more staff or stop taking on so many bookings as the reviews on here suggest this is regular for them. Our server spent most of his evening at the opposite end of the restaurant. I’d definitely suggest you celebrate a birthday etc elsewhere as we left feeling really deflated and won’t be returning to hickory’s

If I could give 0 I would an apallingly bad experience. The smoke here was from bottles, cans or jars. The brisket was greasy with no smoking done, the gravy was thin and runny, the beans were disgustingly runny and grey coloured with strings of pork. The shrimp in the Po'boy were served stone cold. The brisket in the sub was tough and grisly, the french fries all served cold and obviously from frozen. The Mac n Cheese was very salty and portions were ridiculously small. What the heck is that so-called coleslaw with its unknown flavour and rather rank. In my 30 years as a food product developer in North America I have never come across such blatantly false advertising for meals. As for the ambience - please stop playing that god awful cowboy music so loudly and supposedly representative of Southern music have you never heard of Delta Blues, New Orleans jazz and even Jimmy Buffet, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Johnnie Cash? This restaurant would crash and burn in a week if it was in the Southern USA. Received an email from the GM about this review who promised to call me about it and then she never bothered.

Service shocking . Food ok and over priced. We asked for the bill after we ordered dessert then they decided to bring my grandsons birthday donut. I think they'd forgot till they saw the bill but there was a happy birthday sign in front of him

All the food we ordered was perfect but service was terrible. Took ages to get served after sitting down. The starters arrived before the drinks, then the server tried to clear our starters while we still eating. The mains came while the starters were still on the table. We waited 30 minutes for our mains to be cleared, then got the bill when that didn't happen. Other tables had eaten 3 courses and left while we still waiting. No extras for the birthday celebration which was very disappointing. Much better experience at the Huddersfield branch.

Reminding us so much of dining in the America. The location is a little hidden but that did not stop it being really busy with a great atmosphere. The decor truly adds to the experience. We got good service and had high expectations for the food having read other reviews and we were not disappointed at all. The beef brisket was cooked perfectly and the burger we had was unbelievable possibly the best I have ever had. We will definitely be back very soon.

Got taken here for pre stag doo food and drinks, realy friendly and polite staff, did a lot for us on the day bless em. Even had me behind the bar making myself a cocktail, blew my head off to be fair ha Keep it up peeps 👍

Good food, friendly relaxed atmosphere and great service.

This was my 3rd visit to Hickorys, on the 2 previous occasions I had ordered the waffle, but this time I wanted something different. My son and daughter-in-law had taken me for a meal for my birthday. I am a straight talking person who will quite readily voice my opinion if something isn't right. On looking at the menu I found there wasn't anything I could order from the starters as there are lots of things I just don't like, so my son ordered their starters as a side dish to accompany their main meal. Again, I had the same problem with the mains, there were just too many things on the mains which I can't eat ie: onions, pickles , peppers etc. So after studying the menu I decided on the pulled pork, it came with pickles but I thought I would just ask for them to be left off, I am allergic to cucumber, ( it makes me violently sick). On trying to order this meal, I was asked what pickles I was allergic to and basically told that this wasn't the meal for me as it was cooked in apple cider vinegar, (I don't have any issues with apple cider vinegar) anyway the waitress then said she would get a tablet and go through the allergies with me. However well intentioned this may have been, I had by now had enough, so I ordered the 3am mac n cheese. That was a mistake. I ordered it with fries which were cold and the chicken on the mac n cheese tasted like it had been cooked in salt. I left at least half of the meal, and as I said I'm a straight talker but I could see the disappointment on my sons face so I kept quiet. The waitress asked me if I wanted a box for my leftover food ( only if I wanted to give it a decent burial). I politely refused. By now, I just wanted to leave , but I was presented with a donut on a birthday board with a firework in and had happy birthday sang to me. If the floor would have opened up I would have gladly crawled in. I hate being the centre of attention. I was now ready to leave as I had a banging headache from the ridiculously loud music. I think its safe to say that that will be my last visit to Hickorys. Disgraceful response from the owner.

Time is currently 19.19 sat here for over half an hour as a table of 12 after we have finished our meal and not one member of staff has been over to ask if everything is alright or if we need our plates clearing away. We have been here 2 hours .... After we ordered our food, 3 of our plates had stains on and we told the staff... Instead of bringing new plates out he just wiped it down and brought it back out, the plates still had tomato sauce stains on. Me and my partner ordered the platter, beef brisket, beef rib , chicken wings and sausage is very good. The pork ribs and pulled pork was very underwhelming. Food was Luke warm when brought out. I would go back to Hickory's for the beef brisket and beef ribs but not this branch (Video taken at 19.10 & 19.25)

Food was ok, service was disgusting staff would rather talk to team members than pay attention to customers. Waited ages for the bill and even longer for a box to takeaway my food. Wouldn’t come back again

The food is to die for it melts in your mouth, all served by friendly staff. The Beef rib was my favourite, lots beautiful meals to choose from on a great menu. Our party of seven were all very satisfied and will come again. Thank you Hickory’s

Food very good. Service fine, but nothing special: server didn’t repeat our order back to us which caused an issue as an item was missed although we noticed when cutlery was delivered so the food did all arrive at the same time, but that’s a basic, controllable error. I was expecting ‘over the top American service’ but we didn’t really get that and there was little warmth at all probably because of the amount of different staff that served our table not enabling a rapport to be developed. Restaurant was at 10% capacity so slightly irritating that all diners were seated in the same section and as a party of 4 adults, squeezing us inbetween two tables with multiple small children on seemed totally unnecessary and the results were as you would expect in terms of ambience for our meal.

Perfect choice, 1st time at Hickory’s, Texas Style Briscot was delicious, excellent pale ale from Sierra Nevada

Really unimpressive food. The staff were lovely, very welcoming and pleasant throughout. We were sat in the corner of the restaurant which was a little dark - but not uncomfortable. What let's the place down is the food, me and my partner had the £60 platter to share, all the meats (of which there is plenty), tastes the same, the taste been completely uninspiring and very boring - nothing exciting at all. The corn bread arguably the only thing that was pleasant..the coleslaw potential gone off, or intentionally sour? As a whole - it's not the worse place to eat, but you'd not recommend it to anyone, and if in conversation someone brought Hickories up, I'd suggest they don't bother. I was shocked, when asking to remove the tip from our bill, that the waiters had to have approval from managers. I appreciate they want to be an American BBQ house, but tips are truly optional!

Great atmosphere. Great service. Free delish sweet+salty popcorn for the table. The atmosphere was perfect for families. Appetizers were small but understandable for the HUGE main portions. The beef rib is massive and tender and delicious. The cornbread was the only disappointment. Drinks were fantastic. Overall great experience .

Be prepared to be constantly harassed by staff! Nicely themed, clean pub. OK selection of drinks, nice food, great for kids, ample parking. But staff won't allow you to relax, from the moment you walk through the door they are questioning you.

Good re-creation of a US dining experience with smoked meat, American soft drinks and beers. I had chicken & bacon on waffles with maple syrup and a root beer float. Server was friendly and attentive, food arrived quickly.

Tiktok made us do it! 🤦🏽‍♀️ We hadn't booked but were seated straight away, I wanted to stay inside, so we were given seats right in front of the kitchen. Our drinks order was taken first - I had Grape Soda, and my husband had Coca cola. Service was very quick. We were given a bottle of water & and a little bag of popcorn to graze. We were also offered a sample of the beef brisket, which was so nice. The 3 chefs on the front had amazing banter, and when they saw us browsing the menu, we asked for their recommendations, and they gave us their favourites. They spoke to us multiple times throughout our time there. I had the smoked brisket sub, my husband had the Go big or go home burger, and we also ordered southern fried chicken in a basket, dusted tator tots, and mac & cheese. Everything was so flavoursome and cooked to perfection. I couldn't fault any of it. The communication between all the staff is excellent, they genuinely seem to love working there, the kitchen and bar flow perfectly. My husband had split his burger in half to be able to eat it easily, he had asked for some extra burger sauce, the Head chef came out personally to admire that he'd split his burger and gave him another top for his burger garnished with salad and sauce. The grape soda was so nice, I loved it that much the waiter noticed and gave me a free can of soda to take home 😍 It's one of the best places we've been in a while. We came as a couple on this occasion, but it has an outdoor play area and a little cinema playing Disney movies! 😍 Great for kids. We are already planning on our return 😁

Bar staff were friendly food was not that great it looks better than it tastes. Our orders were mixed up and some items missed off and then they added 30% tip on the bill.

Very average food for very premium prices. Got charged tips without asking as well as some sort of extra spice feef for your burger fries.. On a flip side place is huge, and they made an effort to look like American restaurant. But will not come back there for extortionate prices and very average food.

First visit here, won’t be our last. On the recommendation of Dylan (our fabulous waiter) we shared the platter for one and had a couple of extra sides, it definitely gave us a better idea of several of the menu items. What can I say, the brisket was sensational, the bourbon gravy I have absolutely no words for, the baby back ribs, chicken wings, cornbread, onion rings and fries, all amazing. Pit beans, no words to describe how good these are! I could go on - shared a churros for pudding and that was fab too. Shoutout to Dylan, so polite and attentive without being overwhelming and he was so helpful as well. Great anniversary meal!

They definitely need to get some ceiling fans installed in this place for the summer. So hot. However the food, service and atmosphere were second to none. Very nice outdoor area too.

Staff were outstanding. A visit today (30th July), my nephew fell and hurt himself outside. The staff brought appropriate first aid to wipe the grazes clear and offered for the little one to go behind the bar to make his own milkshake afterwards. The chap behind the bar was absolutely brilliant with him, put a right smile on all of our faces. Would happily return!!!

I'm not a fan of the tip being added to the bill for me. (the "we will remove it without any awkwardness if you ask" isn't okay. Only the customer can decide what makes them feel awkward) I had planned to tip anyway but adding it for me leaves a sour taste on what was otherwise a great meal. The food was excellent and service was noticibly good.

Enjoyed a fantastic evening out with family and friends. We booked a table in the outdoor seating area as it meant we were able to take our puppy with us - the staff were so accommodating towards her! They brought her out a dog bed to lay on (which she loved and slept on the entire meal). Food was served quickly and enjoyed by everyone in our party! The play area is fantastic for the children to burn off energy (great for our very active 4 year old!) we will be back again for sure 😊

Went for a friends birthday and wasn’t sure what it was going to be like but since being I’m definitely going to be back because the food was absolutely incredible and the service was amazing. From the minute you enter the staff make you feel welcomed and looked after. The food was amazing too, ended up getting ‘The Go Big or Go Home’ which I barely finished it was that big but was too nice to not finish, definitely worth eating there and would highly recommend going when your hungry too

Went in for a birthday meal. Really busy Sunday afternoon and took a while to get seated and for food to arrive, however staff was more then compensating with gifting us the bill on the house, without us complaining about anything. Very much appreciated, and top quality food 👌🏽

Food was amazing, Shame I got back to my car with damage on it, Told by the manager no cctv covering the car park. Car park spaces seemed narrow and considering most people have SUV's or pickups these days. Who ever it was that did it had checked the back of my car and chose to walk off, Scum bag.

We came for our Anniversary tonight and on entering we was wished happy anniversary. We were shown to our table which they had decorated with love hearts and a lovely celebratory sign. We both ordered the Hog Heaven and we definitely wasn't disappointed it had a bit of everything on. We asked for the bill and then they came out with a platter with Happy Anniversary on with 2 teapots and 2 cups with candyfloss mocktail as 20 years is China. The attention to detail was outstanding and it made our night. Thank you so much we will definitely be returning.

Wow thank you the staff at Hickory's, it was my wife and i's 20th wedding anniversary and our first time here. When we arrived our table was decorated with hearts and stars and a happy anniversary plaque, the food was amazing and just about every member of staff wished us happy anniversary. The attention to detail was spot on and when we asked for the bill we were presented with a tray with a none alcoholic cocktail each and the tray had Happy Anniversary stencilled on it. The staff made it an evening to remember, unfortunately next time will just be an ordinary date. See you next time thank you. Darren and Joanne x.

Great food, great service, will happily visit again

Fantastic food and atmosphere. May not be ideal for vegetarians but even them will find something to eat. Meat always perfectly done, great flavours and I love the American style. Not the cheapest place to take the family for Sunday dinner but worth coming for a special occasion or during week when daily specials are a bit less pricy. , Really love the place

Wow, what a place the service was fantastic they even came out singing happy birthday with my sweet. I had a burger with chicken ash brown and a beef burger on, and it was amazing. I have no complaints the staff were great no wait for food they really couldn't do enough for us. Definitely going back real soon
