Great service, really looked after us. Food delicious and plenty of it. Will be coming back again.

Got a smokehouse platter for 2 to myself, as a bit of an informal food challenge with some colleagues. Majority of it was great, highlights were the Cheese Jalapeño sausage and the brisket. Unfortunately, the Jacob's Ladder and the pork in the cowboy beans were bland and sloppy. Towards the end my mouth refused to continue chewing. Would come again for the items that I enjoyed though.

Amazing food, only come here if you're very hungry as you get good food portions, it's just too hard to choose what to eat. Very family friendly, you get a little bag of popcorn on arrival and a bottle of water, also a little cinema for the kids to go to while waiting for the food. Would definitely recommend.

We found the service charge bumped the bill up quite a bit, we always leave a tip wherever we eat but hate how it's added to your bill.

Very Mediocre Experience, went in as a walk in and got told that it was a 2 and half hour wait, went back to car and was able to book a table online for the next 10 mins? Service was poor to say the least, waited about 20 mins to order, food came out in a decent time, brisket bites were nice, however the main was misleading on the menu, I ordered the ‘Hand Pulled Pork’ - what I got was a full tin of named brand Baked Beans with some pulled pork inside. Looked terrible and tasted terrible, definitely not two flavours that should be put together. Then waited another 25 mins for a server to clear our table, had to get up and ask for the bill twice, definitely not for you if you want a real American style BBQ restaurant.

My first visit and won't be the last. Was sceptical of the reviews as always but got to say it was as good if not better than they said. Give it a go

I want to preface this by saying the food itself is incredible and the staff are really nice. Which makes the experience disappointing when the service isn't to the same standard. We've been a couple of times where we're just left waiting. Either to be served or for the bill and last night was unfortunately the last straw. I understand that if its busy, service will be slow. But at the same time, we shouldn't need to wait nearly 30 minutes and have staff walk past us twice and not be seen, especially when we're clearly just sat there doing nothing.

Staff are kind, welcoming and friendly. Highly trained with allergens and will come back to the table to offer advice on what you have ordered if an allergen wasn’t listed originally. Atmosphere is great with occasional live music. Tables are very regularly cleaned and everywhere is kept tidy. The food is incredible, large portions, everything is well seasoned. Brisket melts in your mouth. Highly recommend.

A wonderful 1st time experience - brilliant to start with the anecdote that I share my name with a senior member of franchise's hierarchy so to hear my booking caused a stir with staff wondering if I was someone else was very amusing indeed. Incredibly attentive staff, very welcoming and friendly, I'd heard good things from others and I'm happy to say I was not disappointed... If I could leave a review higher than 5 stars I would 11/10 will definitely be coming back again and would highly recommend to anyone. Thank you for your hospitality and keep up the good work. (might try a different location and see if they have the same reaction to a booking in my name)

Great place with consistently great food

Visited to celebrate a family birthday, first time I'd been and I wasn't disappointed. Not the cheapest of places to visit ,but I would say it is of reasonable value,decent sized portions, we were all very full after. I opted for a mixed meat skewer,which I would recommend,it was huge ,came with fries,pickled jalapeño onions and slaw and a dipping sauce ,I also ordered fried pickles ,other members of our party had a brisket sub,half roast chicken, half rack ribs,jumbo dog and chicken in a basket,sirloin steak (cooked to preference well),all came with fries and mentioned slaw . Can't speak about veggie options as we all ate meat. We made a booking and it was busy(Bank Holiday Monday),but wouldnt be sure if this was normally the case so I would recommend booking just in case

Excellent food. Excellent service. Couldn't do enough for us when we mentioned a food allergy. Checked 3 or 4 times that my wife would be ok with different aspects of her meal. Highly recommended. We've to rwo different sites now and both were spot on. Been back a few times since my original review and it's been just as good every time.

Absolutely gorgeous place! Service was 5*, mains were amazing - would highly recommend the brisket, and the puddings were enormous! Came as a group of 8, food came relatively quickly and had no complaints at all. Lovely outdoor play area for kids, cinema showing 'turning red' with free popcorn.

We came to hickory’s for my nieces birthday on the 26th March, and the service was astounding from start to finish, Sam went the extra mile to make sure the children in our family had an amazing experience, what a fantastic asset to your team he is!! We will 100% recommend, and also return without hesitation!

Absolutely fantastic second experience at Hickory’s in Horbury! From the moment we walked in, the staff made us feel so welcome. Despite clearly being very busy, they were sure to greet us with a lot of energy! I cannot fault ANYTHING at all, drinks were divine, sharing platter was out of this world and the Fro-Co was perfect! A special shout-out to Sam, who sprinkled some serious magic dust on our visit (literally and figuratively!). He went above and beyond to sort out some magic dust for me when I forgot to ask for it on my fries; I was far too excited to eat the food! A true hero. You can really tell the whole team cares about creating a great atmosphere. I cannot wait to come again — thank you, Hickory’s Horbury! Attended 16/4/25.

Fast friendly service and the food is good. I just prefer my bbq to be a dry rub. Myself I really didn't care for the Korean bbq sauce they use. As I have said in my other reviews of bbq restaurants, BBQ is an art and shouldn't be hidden with sauce!

Upon entry was greated pleasantly staff were nice and pleasant as we ordered we were given some complementary popcorn and water this was a nice touch we were hungry so decided to have the sharing platter the waiter said you won't need a starter cause it was big and cost 65 pound so thought it must be when it came on first impression it looked good but it wasn't as good as it seemed some of the spare ribs had nothing on literally couldn't fill a teaspoon with the meat the short rib was nice but again not alot there then underneath was another piece which was mainly fat the brisket was tender but was abit lacking in that punch of flavour , the pulled pork and beans wasn't very hot the sides coleslaw and pickes probly a level tablespoon of each and as these are cheap commodities you would think they could give you abit more the 2 cups of fries was half full of a ball of greaseproof paper corn bread wasn't for me it was like having a treacle sponge pudding on the side never saw the waiter again after food check 2 seconds after we got the platter so didn't get to order any more drinks then was waiting ages for anyone to clear us by then we had given up on desserts then added a service charge without telling us prior which I don't mind if I'm told upfront I'm very disappointed cause I thought it was gunna be great and it really wasn't I wouldn't recommend the platter as its not value for money at all unless you want to pretty much pay for a big plate of bones the other meals that were going to ther tables looked bigger and better value ours for 65 I felt robbed after what we were given and when I told the waiter he did nothing to rectify any of my complaints just said have a nice night which was another layer of disappointment

Food was great. Only downside is the dessert i ordered was £6 and most was air. Service was a bit slow but they apologised every time and were really polite. Atmosphere seemed like a real American BBQ with cowboy like music. Expensive yes, but it's worth it.

Great place to bring the kids. My little boy loved the cinema and play area. The service was super slow. No one cleared out starters away, and the mains jusy arrived with nowhere to put them. The starter plates remained on the table the whole time. The food was delcious, always a great standard.

The service was too slow 30 mins to get drinks... When the chicken arrived it was still running with blood, to be fair they didn't charge for it after it was pointed out. Not the best experience!

Booked and paid £25 deposit but despite this our table wasn’t ready for another 20 minutes afterwards. Very slow service from staff. Food was lovely when it arrived - no complaints there! However we had 3 children and was sat on a table right next to rowdy drunk adults x6 who kept swearing constantly, this was 5.30pm on a Sunday. Will stick with other restruants in future for better service and atmosphere.

Went for my Grandmas 60th was really nice some of the nicest food I’ve had in a long time our host for the afternoon was rob and honestly couldn’t say enough nice things about him well worth it and will be going again.

The only authentic American restaurant experience including proper crispy bacon, perfect fried chicken, and unlimited filter coffee. Can't recommend it enough.

Fantastic place. Having worked in the south of the US, this is genuinely the only place that matches the quality of bbq I have been since. Staff are friendly and attentive. Highly recommended. Good beer, great bar staff too. All in all, 10/10

Food was 10 out of 10! We had the brisket & magic dust chips - amazing & one of the best chip seasons we’ve tried! It also came with a bourbon gravy which was delicious. We also had corn dogs (our first time trying) and they weren’t to our taste preference and the chicken & waffle- stunning! The waffle was lovely and soft and the chicken was so tender. Only thing we weren’t a fan of was where we were sat; it was a long bench with separate tables but were sat very close to the people next to us. Live singer was amazing!

Gorgeous food and good portions. A lively atmosphere and a bit different from the normal restaurants. It was a great night, I would definitely recommend and hope to revisit soon. Only downside was when one of the staff came with drinks, we ordered more and they just looked at us totally lost and forgot some of the order.

Great service.......quite a buzz inside, food was good but there's definitely room for improvement. Maybe it's a personal preference but I'd love to see more beef and chicken on the platter, it seemed to be a lot of pork. Overall it's value for money and definitely worth a try.

2 adults and 6 kids easily accommodated despite been very busy . Only down sides were we asked for everything to come out together and it didn't. Also the kids wanted to eat I the cinema room like they have done I the past bet were told they couldn't but later when time to leave other were eating in there .is it a case of if we see you you can't but out of sight it's ok . That said the food and service were great

First time at Hickorys, won't be the last. Absolutely superb. How I've lived 37 years without Frickles in my life is a travesty!! The smokehouse platter was amazing and just didn't seem to go down despite filling us both to the brim. Would 100% recommend

Good food, friendly staff, kinda expensive but worth it. Was a ton of feral kids running around when I went, kinda annoying, probably from the massive council estate.

The food is always cooked perfectly, very consistent. Clean interior with great decor and music fitting the southern/country vibe. In house cinema and outside play area for familys. My only negative is the service is slow when asking for the bill/trying to pay. I often find myself waiting around. Perhaps to keep the restaurant looking full?

We have now been to hickory’s 3 times 15/01/24 for a family birthday and then 7/02/24 + 29/02/25 for a couple meal, on every occasion we have been blown away with the quality of the food the taste of the meat and flavours are mouth watering. We have recommended hickory’s to lots of our friends and family and they have visited and been impressed too. The American atmosphere is amazing and even the touch of popcorn 🍿 is really cool. The sharing platter is a must and is the best thing ever!!! We have added all the photos from 3 seperate occasion as the place is definitely worthy of a 5 star review ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

One of our favourite places to eat as a family - we drive 30mins to get here each time, so that says a lot! We travel to the U.S. a lot and this is a taste of America in the UK - minus weird & creepy politics and more interesting weather… The kids love the cinema, popcorn and fro-yo, as well as the food generally. When younger they would’ve loved the outdoor play area too. We all love eating in the huts by the fire! Authentic smoked meat is exceptional. I personally love the brunch menu, served until mid-afternoon. The service is exceptional. One day our table was delayed and they gave us VIP service - drinks at the bar, got the kids behind the bar making sundaes, etc etc. Great fun to toast marshmallows on the table too. Only negative - the toilets are absolutely freezing in winter! And I’m always too hot 😂 Take a big coat in with you! Oh, and please open one closer to Sheffield/Barnsley/Penistone please… 🙏🏼

Food is consistently very good. Service is hit and miss, the table is rarely ready on time and getting service after your food has arrived is always very hit and miss.

I did my first review not long after opening and a couple of visits to get a feel for the place, how has it fallen so fast! From a great 5 stars and good feedback, to this. As a group we haven't been for a long while until we visited last night (2 Feb 2025) as a party of 11 for someone's birthday. We asked to be outside in one of the sheds. We were put in one with round tables, which were not laid up for such a group (the other shed was empty and has rectangular tables that would have accommodated better)! The TV in here was broken! Also I had to ask for the music to be turned up 5 times with different members of staff. The food was well below the standard of what I expected from previous visits, and was nowhere near what it was the last time we dined here. 1. Sea Bass with Rice. The rice was well undercooked and the food was cold. 2. Pulled pork, not pulled, and cold. The person that had this has woken up the following day with the deli belly! 3. Go big or go home burger. I wish I went home! The bun was dry/stale, the beef burger was overcooked and dryer than Ghandi's flip flops! OH and again COLD! One meal came out wrong, TWICE, and one meal was forgotten completely! All in all a disapointing experience and firmly puts a nail in the opinion of not returning for another go! Work to do at Hickorys Horbury!

We planned a birthday dinner and visited the venue earlier in the day for some drinks. Some of the staff were exceptionally attentive, anticipating our needs with great detail. The indoor cinema and outdoor play area for kids are a bullseye 🎯 - quite obviously, the team behind it knows what they’re doing. The dishes, which have an American signature, are excellent. However, they can be quite rich. The smoked chicken and beef were outstanding, and the sides were generous, with the maple sauce being a standout. The atmosphere is inviting and relaxing, and the staff are very friendly. Plenty of parking, and the venue is easily accessible. A couple of areas for improvement: When our mains arrived, we weren’t provided with fresh plates and cutlery, as the ones from our starters had been cleared. Additionally, while we appreciate the warm service, we found that addressing guests with phrases like “thank you, boss” can feel impersonal, and somewhat distant.

The services on asking for the bill was shocking we waiting 20 minutes asked 5 different waiters, while still waiting a couple next to us asked for there bill and got it straight away

I knew what to expect food wise, having dined at their Leeds restaurant. But Horbury restaurant was freezing, we were a large family group and lots of people kept their coats on ! Not a comfortable stay

I felt that everything happened too quickly, from the arrival of the drinks to the food. It felt like they wanted your eat up and go.

After driving by this place multiple times my family decided to give it a try. Alas, we were let down on the British interpretation of American BBQ. For myself I had the Texas 1/2 pound brisket and cornbread. 1) that was not half a pound, 2) it was very bland and the accompanied gravy didn't help, 3) tne coleslaw was flavorless, and 4) I'm American so I know what cornbread is and that wasn't it. It wasn't bad but it's something I wouldn't order again. My partner's chicken and waffles were also bland. Thank goodness for the syrup. The only pluses were our mocktails were delicious and our appetizers of pork bites were ok. Overall I won't revisit this restaurant or any other Hickory's for that matter. Think I'm better off with Reds or just taking a plane to the States and head to an actual BBQ restaurant.

After the first trip, we went back a week later as it was that good!

Our first visit for four. We ordered a smokehouse platter for 2 with garlic mushrooms and magic-dusted fries for three of us to share and a go big or go home burger for the other one. We decided on the sharing platter as we didn’t know what we would like and wanted a variety. I don’t usually eat big portions of meat but probably ate twice as much as I expected to. The meat was amazing, tasty and tender and mostly just fell off the bone. The brisket was like butter and the dusted fries certainly were magic. The burger was also a hit. Two shared a cookies and cream waffle plate and loved it. We are now in a food coma. Staff were really friendly and efficient. We loved the atmosphere, great decor and music. We asked to take our left over meat home and were given a couple of cardboard boxes and a strong paper bag to pack it in. It will make some lovely wraps for lunches for a couple of days. We would definitely recommend a visit and will visit again.

Didn't book prior to going, so the "front of house" seemed a bit put out!? After deliberating for a while, she said there was a table, but we could only be there for an hour!? Not very welcoming! ( That's why 4 stars ) However, the food and service were good 👍🏻

Food is gorgeous and the portions are very generous! The staff are extremely attentive and friendly. I would recommend the Louisiana hot chicken wings and the brisket Mac and cheese! The grape soda is also divine! Especially with a shot of vodka! Gave 4 stars, as they have had the same movie playing in the cinema for about 6 months. *EDIT 2024* This restaurant has really come a on leaps and bounds since my last review. The staff are absolutely fantastic and the food is always top notch. Highly recommend!!

I turned up without booking but they managed to fit us in. Typical American diner type atmosphere but at least there was no line dancing. The brisket was not bad in flavour, but I'm full of cold, and the salad was packed out with lettuce underneath.. Staff very friendly and served us quickly. I'd certainly call in again

This place is beyond good. Great atmosphere, genuinely thoughtful & professional staff and very authentic American smoke house style food from a vast menu that didn't fail to impress. Definitely visiting again ASAP

I was limited in menu choice (that's on me, not them)!!! Food was lovely. We were in a hut and a little chilly, however, the staff couldn't have been better, sorted the heaters and brought hot water bottles. Wonderful night. Will be back x

Visited on a busy Saturday evening. The staff were very friendly and helpful and our table was ready on time. Three out of the four meals were excellent. However, my medium rare steak was very rare and a bit tough. When I mentioned it to a member of staff they immediately apologised and took my meal off the bill. All in all, it was a really enjoyable evening. I will definitely be returning.

Smoke rings, check. One of the greatest dining experiences we’ve had in a while. The food was glorious and the staff were incredibly friendly and kind. We got the most thoughtful gift at the end of our meal and were made to feel really welcome. 11/10 for culinary expertise and top notch service. Thanks to the whole team.

Food okay had the pulled pork but was a small portion. Starter of chicken gougons was better sized. Loud inside the place so conversations tended to be shouting matches. Watch out for the added tip on the bill Not too bad an experience but improvements could be made

Originally gave a 5 star review a few years ago but it feels that hickorys have put profit over quality with their expansion. Non-gluten menu now has may contains which defeats the definition of the word 'non' which is 'the absence of'. Doesn't feel very safe any more. They've also got rid of a common gluten free beer for jubel which isn't a normal beer. It just feels like they're getting rid of gluten free options and replacing them with cheaper quality products. Unfortunately we won't be going back, but it was nice whilst the quality lasted.

We booked a table of 16 for our friends Christmas presents dinner, along with a friends and my wife's birthday. I want to start by saying,The customer service there is outstanding!!! Seriously,I feel "outstanding"doesnt do it justice.Welcoming and tireless.......Amazing work guys. The food was amazing,bloody flawless infact and the cinema and play area just add to the experience. My daughter said its the best place she's been to in 8 years......she 8 by the way. The waiter was top notch.....sorry I'm rubbish at remembering names. We were genuinely blown away.Well done!!! I'll leave you with a Christmas tip: If you want to get someone a present but don't know what to get them,get them a false leg and tell them it's a stocking filler.

Hickory’s Horbury is our absolute favourite restaurant and we recommend to everyone. The food and surroundings are excellent but the service is incredible. Particularly when you have a celebration, the team at Hickory’s really make it an occasion. We took my son for dinner to celebrate passing his black belt in mixed martial arts.The team were wonderful with him, asking about his test and even arranged a gift as a congratulations. My son was made to feel very special and left with a huge smile on his face. They really do go above and beyond and we will continue to be regular visitors!

The staff and food are incredible, however the gluten free menu is much smaller and more expensive since our last visit. It's very clear they are putting quantity over quality of dishes now they are opening more stores. It's a shame a lot of gluten free options are now may contain.

Excellent food, had meat platter n daughter had mac n cheese. Got beef short rib, pork ribs, pulled pork with beans, brisket beef, cheese pork sausage, with magic dust fries garlic mushroom and a seasoned biscuit.. I had to take box home as there was enough for 2 on my single platter. Wow tho gorgeous. Will be visiting again. Staff are very helpful and tend to your needs. Complementry pop corn when you go in.

came to Hickory’s for my 21st birthday meal at 8 months pregnant and our lovely server Liv made me so special and even made me a blue mocktail to celebrate my birthday and expecting a baby boy! everything was perfect and of course the food was delicious. attention to detail was out of this world and i can’t thank the staff at Hickory’s Horbury enough, especially Liv! thank you :)
