Hibiscus in Northampton

An outstanding evening with delicious dishes, packed with flavour presented perfectly and by caring staff who wanted to make our Erving as special as the food. Trying to choose a favourite course was almost impossible but the Beetroot with goats cheese and meringues was delicious, the Monkfish and cauliflower dressed with curry oil was wonderful and the venison was equally delicious, so to choose one would be disingenuous. All of the other courses were outstanding the fig tart may have been better in a sweet shortcrust case. Your staff are excellent, attentive but not intrusive, a delicate balance.

Absolutely incredible dining experience! My partner treated me to a lovely meal here, and I was blown away by the tastes of each meal. All the staff were very attentive, friendly and knowledgeable, and when each course was served they tell you exactly what is on your plate. There were various vegetarian selections for my partner, and they catered to this with no problem at all. The cheeseboard we had was a nice addition also. I would definitely like to return and try the wine menu along with the food, there's always next time!

This place is divine! Northampton does not have many restaurants that offer this level of a tasting menu..... sublime! I have an intolerance to gluten and dairy and when making the reservation I made Hibiscus aware of this . On the night, I was not disappointed by what I was served! The 7 course were evenly spaced put so as not to keep people waiting too long or feeling hungry. The grounds of Delapre Abbey are amazing aswell

We did a tour of the Abbey then the tasting menu with wine flight. Wonderful evening. Such a warm, relaxing atmosphere and the food was excellent. No hesitation in recommending.

This place is outstanding. Food unlike anything I've tasted before. Front of house attention to detail and service is the best and they're all a real credit to this place. Would highly recommend.

The room was very poorly lit. Tables too small. Disparity in service from each server as one table would get the whole description of the course and we had the young, male waiter who basically said "mushroom soup" and walked off. Not all of the courses were memorable, his squid ink risotto was excellent. The chocolate dessert and the apricot with white chocolate pre dessert were farrrrrr too rich- and I like chocolate. Would not return.

Wonderful restaurant in a beautiful building. Friendly, efficient and knowledge service. Delicious food. Excellent wine including Nytimber English sparkling. This is by no means a cheap place to eat, but definitely an excellent choice for a for a special occasion. Every dish was beautifully presented and the waiter explained how the wine flight choice paired expertly with the food. I highly recommended Hibiscus to anyone wanting special food in a special place.

Fantastic experience staff were knowledgeable, friendly food was delicious, however I did find the room a little cold so bring a wrap or cardigan .

Fantastic food and service but the restaurant itself lacked atmosphere.

We booked a table for the 7 course taster menu, the food and service was amazing! Every detail was paid attention to, staff was very friendly and welcoming and the food was outstanding! We will definitely be booking a table again soon.

Overall, it was a good experience, the food was excellent and the service was attentive. As mentioned in other reviews, timings between courses are too slow. The food was worth the wait, but getting timings between courses snappier would elevate the overall experience. Delivering this whole experience in under 3 hours would make it exceptional. It took us a touch over 3 1/2 hours, and towards the end of the meal, it was clear serving staff wanted to go home.

Fabulous food (tasting menu) and the accompanying wine was amazing. Highly recommended.

7 course tester menu fantastic experience.

My experience was good but not excellent at this time. Lot of the staff has changed.

Dec 24th, 2020. After a terrible birthday and afternoon for my 20th I was looking forward to going to Hibiscus for dinner with my sister. It is covid season and I was nervous for what they would say and where we would sit. However, I booked the table for 2 about 1 week before attending and they were very accommodating. They asked what time and date etc, and even asked if I had any dietary requirements. We finished the phone conversation and I remembered I had to tell them something. After not getting through I had a call back immediately (I was leaving a voicemail as they called back) The day arrived and I was ready to go. I had a big red ball gown which I had to get changed into in the bathroom, they were happy to let me do this and then lead me and my sister to our table. The service was spectacular, every dish which came out they explained what it was and I had a superb evening considering the current day I have been through. Elliot was particularly friendly and very knowledgable about the courses like the other staff. They were all extremely polite and happy to serve us both. At the end they even brought out some cake my sister had bought for us to eat since it’s my birthday. The chef came out and spoke to each of us table by table.HONESTLY this review may seem a bit boring. But this was one of the best and most professional restaurants I’ve been to (and I’ve been to quite a few) I would definitely go back again!! Nice and spacious area with social distancing implemented which was reassuring. They all wished me a happy birthday and Christmas/new year and so did some of the guests. The people here (staff & guests) aren’t your average Joe’s. (They’re lovely, beautiful people) Over all 10,000/100 Would definitely recommend!

A hidden gem. The atmospheric Delapre Abbey is the beautiful setting for this fine dining restaurant. The 7 course tasting menu with wine flight was inspired. Would highly recommend a visit to Hibiscus for a special occasion.

Had lunch for 3 and a baby, 3 toasted sandwiches, 1 vegan, all were really nice, service was good too, all at a reasonable price, very nice experience

My husband and I ate here last night for the first time and the whole experience was amazing. The staff were friendly and attentive. The food was delicious and presented perfectly. The service was exceptional even though the restaurant was full. We had 10 courses in total if you include the bread, snack and the after dinner sweets which we were not expecting, so was a plesent surprise. We both felt extremely looked after. The atmosphere was calm and quiet and we thoroughly enjoyed the who experience of the taster menu and will be planning on going back again.

Pretty awful evening. There was an incident between a couple of guests that totally ruined our evening. Both were in the wrong. Both had valid points. The staff did all they could but should have been firmer and I'm disappointed to note that no one followed up after we left, despite having our details. The food was quite bland and very small portions. Wouldn't be returning.

Lovely to be at the Abbey on an evening. Beautiful dining room, glamorous and stylish. Cool lofi ambiance with chilled music and a friendly warm atmosphere. Food and wine flight combo was sensational. Cooking skills displayed were fantastic, unexpected flavour combinations, plenty of textures and the Hibiscus Billini was magic. We loved it!

Lovely meal to celebrate our birthdays

Another superb taster meal with the usual friendly but unobtrusive service. We love the Hibiscus. It's our number one in Northampton.

It's good. In fact, it's very good. The food was just one or two notches below the best. The service was flawless, the location is quirky and elegant.

Cannot recommend enough!! Food was amazing and the service was excellent. The staff clearly have a passion for what they do!! They certainly delivered on all aspects, we cannot wait to visit again! Top marks for all involved!

During lockdown, only doing take out food and drink, so have to try and enjoy sitting in the cold and enjoy views of the parkland.

Great service, some of the courses are a bit 'out there'

Amazing food and service. Lovely restaurant worth every penny. Only stopped rating it a 5 as it was our first time there and due to lack of signage we along with other customers couldnt find the restaurant. Took us 10 mins to find the place but well worth it.

A hidden gem in Northampton. If you like fine dining this place does not disappoint. With attentive and professional staff, amazing venue and food. The only problem was trying to find the entrance. We walked around the building a few times in poor lighting. Could do with better signage.

The food here is amazing, a real gem for Northampton as there are not many places like this in the area. The staff were very tentative, smart and had impeccable service standards. Highly recommended

Third visit and different menu each time. Truly fine dining with excellent service... The food is out of this world and there are lots of little extras thrown in too... Definitely recommended for a special occasion.

Bit rushed service despite our request to slow it down (we were eating well after performance times), but we liked the food. Room could be laid out better with the tables close together in straight rows, but fortunately it was nearly empty.

Been invited out for the most amazing fine dining experience from Sophie White the head manager. Promises to be the best evening of fine dining I’ve ever had and my taste buds are looking forward to it.

Service was extremely slow and the flavours did not match the food. Extremely disappointed.

Has the potential to be the best restaurant in Northampton. The town has been crying out for a fine dining menu for years. Hibiscus is an attractive well managed establishment, the staff are friendly and knowledgeable, the food presentation is exquisite, the price is a little top for Northampton but all in all very good. I enjoyed the experience, but would like to see more on the menu however, the food was exciting. I will be going back.

Have wanted to eat here for ages but was so disappointed! The staff were really good but the food was terrible...my lamb main course was so fatty I couldn't cut it. As a gesture if good will they gave me a free cup of tea. The other 4 diners thought theirs was ok but not great. Also I know it is fine dining but I personally think all main courses need some sort of a potato product, or the option of some sort of sides. My main course was inedible and served with courgettes which I am also not keen on, a potato would have been very welcome . The chocolate kinky boots was nice to look at but not particularly nice to eat ....

Wow fine dining in Northampton this place is a hidden gem. Kieran was front of house / waiter and was amazing. We went on a date night and will be going back we friends and family ASAP
