When they first opened the chicken was 'real' lovely chunks, fantastic quality. Over the last few months the chicken has mirrored many other Chinese takeaways in the area - rubbery, wet and slimy. Pretty much inedible. It's a huge shame as everything else is lovely. They've obviously changed supplier for profit reasons and as a result the chicken is horrendous.

Great food, service was wonderful. Me and my friends had a great time! Not only was the atmosphere nice and the people good but the food was something else.

I visited Hi Bangor last night with a friend having heard some very positive reports from others. It is a relatively new takeaway to the city, and is modern and very clean, with some creative lighting. I ordered a simple prawn noodle box at £6.60. It was delicious! I have travelled in China several times and know from experience how different the real Chinese food is from the food we get served in the UK. But this simple box had the immediate smell that I remember from the back streets in Kowloon. The serving of huge prawns was very generous, and they were perfectly trimmed and de-veined. They were tender and jucy - so often sea food is overcooked and tough. The noodles were also cooked with perfectly stirfried mixed vegetables. I have for years been trying to imitate the stirfied vegetables I have experinced in China. I can only describe as being both soft and crunchy. Good Chinese food is all about texture and the play between different textures. These vegetables were perfect being soft and succulent but still retaining a slight crunch in texture. I suspect they were slightly steamed prior to stiryfry. The portion was too much for me. It could have made a small meal for two people. At just over £3.00 each, this would be very good value. With another side dish of vegetables or rice and some crackers this would make a tasty good sized meal for two people. There is good parking over the road, and the Nelson pub is next door for a drink whilst you wait. There is also a nice sitting area so you do not have to hang about. They do not take credit card payments so have cash ready. It seems they do take many telephone orders. I do not know how this is paid for, but will soon be finding out! PS - this was a very good Fish and Chip shop, and I see they still do F&C but it seems the batter has that ultra light crispy texture that is so beautiful on Chinese food. A 'must try' for next time!

Great value tasty food. The menu is slightly limited, but don’t let that put you off. It’s takeaway only. We really enjoyed it and would strongly recommend it to anyone in the area looking for a Chinese takeaway.

Have been using sitar for sometime however unfortunately this time felt I needed to write this negative review . Says on the front of menu just ask if you want things to be vegan, so we have been . However realised some weeks ago one of the breads we had been ordering was made with butter. One of the gentleman did let us know this when we phoned one time, and we perhaps put that down to being our mistake as well as maybe it was obvious it should've been. However they hadn't let us know the previous times we ordered it . Anyway, we ordered last night at 6:40 and the food didn't arrive till 8:45 . When eating my vegetable korma which I has asked to be vegan, there was a bit of chicken in it . Honestly if you don't want to serve vegan food then don't, or if you are going to advertise and say it on your menu that you do, then do it properly . Not some half arsed attempt . Therefore don't trust that what they cooking is actually vegan and they're just taking bits out . The chicken actually looked like it was tandoori rather than korma, so I'm not sure why that ended up in that dish. Which doesnt say much for cross contamination etc, with regards to nut allergies and so on if it had been a different bit of food . So ,.all in all, paid £38 for a takeaway , took over two hours to arrive and had chicken in the 'vegan' korma. So unfortunately won't be going there again, and shame because it was nice having a takeaway in Bethesda .
