China Hot Chilli Chinese Restaurant in Gwynedd

First time to eat in this restaurant and was surprised to be presented with two menus, a traditional Chinese menu and the normal menu. I was brave to try the traditional menu and didn't make mistake, it was the best Chinese food I had outside of Chinatown in UK. The belly pork just melt in your mouth and the vegetable is the perfect accompaniment.

I booked a table for my friend’s birthday dinner three weeks in advance. One evening, I happened to walk past the restaurant and decided to pop in to ask if it would be okay to bring a birthday cake. To my surprise, I was told my booking had been canceled because they had received another booking with more people. The restaurant never informed me about this cancellation. When I expressed how unprofessional this was, the staff suddenly acted like they didn’t understand English. It’s clear they prioritize profits over treating their customers with respect.

Absolutely loved it the food was brilliant, serve was lovely and for all the food we got it was relatively cheap, very cute looking on the inside, I would come back again and again. Not to mention the portions are definitely worth the price

Incluso cuando comimos aquí hace un rato, siempre agregan demasiado cilantro a prácticamente cada plato que comimos, que me sabe a jabón (las bolitas no el cilantro fresco). Tengo que señalar que el personal es muy agradable y educado aquí. No hay nada malo con el servicio, solo la comida.

Had a takeaway. I was disappointed with this place before this but decided to give them another try. Portions were smaller for what we paid. Part of the order was wrong, food was too oily and over the top salty. We ordered 40 minutes beforehand and when we came to pick the order, the order was not ready, and we waited longer than expected before the food was ready. The place was not that busy, so not sure why we waited so long. Will not be coming back.

Mi esposa reservó aquí para mi cumpleaños ayer, 16 de diciembre. Éramos 10 en total y teníamos una mesa redonda grande encantadora todo listo para cuando llegamos. No podía faltar el servicio en todo eran excelentes como lo era la comida que se sacó oportunamente entre el entrante y principal con ellos, incluso comprobar si estábamos listos para el principal nada era demasiado problema. Muy recomendable y sin duda volveremos. El aparcamiento es bueno también, con un gran aparcamiento justo en frente que puede estar ocupado, pero hay otro aparcamiento más grande a dos minutos a pie

i used to love this restaurant for its amazing food and great service, but my recent visit was disappointing. I was served with a pork dish with a visible nipple on the meat, which was very off-putting. When I brought it up with the waitress,she consulted the boss, whose attitude was unpleasant. They dismissed the issue, saying, “it’s still meat”, and took no action to address it. While the food here has usually been excellent, this experience has left me hesitant to return.

Fantástica comida. Recomiendo pedir en el menú de "estilo tradicional", ya que la comida es mucho mejor que algunas de las opciones más occidentalizadas. El tiempo de preparación fue bueno. El personal es amable y el servicio está bien, pero parecían un poco desconcertados por las preguntas que tenía, y cuando intentamos dividir la cuenta. Tengo que reírme de las críticas negativas ocasionales. Este restaurante sirve la mejor comida china en cualquier parte del Reino Unido. Sí, es muy básico por dentro, más como un café, así que piensa en ello como tal. Sin embargo, si quieres una cocina impresionante a precios razonables, estás en el lugar correcto. Olvídate de los negadores. Prueba el pato en jengibre y cebolla de primavera, el cordero en pimienta negra, la sal y la pimienta de las gambas reales son increíbles. O ser más aventurero y optar por un plato a base de chile picante (la carne de res es excelente). Enjoy.

A bit of a hidden gem - a really good and varied menu of delicious Szechuan food. Not a run of the mill Anglo-Chinese restaurant. Well worth a visit. No card payment though, so bring cash.

Excellent food and service. They have 2 menus. One genuine Chinese food version (spicy) and one westernised Chinese (non spicy. We ordered from both and it was all delicious. Washed down with a lovely pot of Chinese green tea and Chinese beer. Already planning our next visit.

I absolutely LOVE the food here. It’s definitely more authentic. I’ve eaten in and had take out from here a few times and the food has never been less than amazing.

Gorgeous food & friendly staff. We had: Shredded Stir Fry Lamb with Spring Onion Plain noodles (& with bean sprouts) Mapo Tofu (asked for the veggie version) Tofu & Vegetable Soup Duck Spring Roll Would highly recommend, our food was great!

We are Chinese, and this has got to be one of the best Chinese restaurants we’ve been to in the UK, beating most in London Chinatown. We came here 3 times in 2 days. The chefs in this Sichuan restaurant speak the Sichuan dialect, so you know they are authentic, and are so dedicated to the craft of wok frying that they master chef even got an overuse injury on his arm. Service was really friendly and kind as well.

The food was pretty good (very legit) for a fair price and the facilities all right. However I can't recommend this place due to the fact that this place probably the only one in Britain to not accept card payment. Instead you have to pay by bank transfer (!) or cash. If you are not British paying by bank transfer is obviously not possible so off you go the nearest ATM.. I would have been okay with this had it been clearly communicated from the staff/signs that card payment is not an option but it wasn't.. I would recommend other restaurants in the area until this issue is solved.

100% Authentic chinese food with medium level of spicy. After we set the order, the dishes were served very fast with hot and fresh steam around the plates. Meat ingredients all been processed well without any wired odour. We come from london, so feel the price is proper and worthy here, with a great portion of each dish suitable for 2 or 3 people. Super recommend. 好吃，嘎嘎炫！

A favourite of my son who lives near Bangor. During my week long visit, we ate here three times. The food is delicious and piping hot. Very prompt attention from the staff on entering and lightning speed service. The downside is the cost of cheap can soft drinks. My son recommends the duck with ginger. For me the stand out dishes were the crispy beef and sweet and sour chicken.

Comida excepcional. Me hicieron un tofu mapo vegetariano, mientras que es típicamente un plato que incluye carne que estaban felices de acomodar. Mi amigo tenía la ternera revuelta con comino y estaba decepcionado de que no pudiera terminarla porque estaba lleno 😆 Fue uno de los mejores platos chinos que he probado. Definitivamente volveremos cuando tengamos la oportunidad.

The restaurant's decor, the sound of the chef's wok, and the towering flames in the kitchen all reminded me of home, which I haven't visited in a long time. The dishes here are authentic Sichuan cuisine, known for its bold and spicy flavors. The menu offers a wide variety of dishes, rich in ingredients and reasonably priced. However, the menu organization could be improved for easier navigation. If you're looking to experience genuine Sichuan flavors, rather than Westernized versions like sweet and sour chicken, this is the place to go.

Can’t recommend this place enough. The food is amazing (I recommend the Sweet and Sour Chicken), waiting times are less than 5 minutes for most dishes, staff are very friendly, service is polite and timely, the decor is simple but welcoming and the place is always clean. One of the gems of Bangor that you must visit if you come here.

The food is lovely but just a bit to hot for me

Very delicious and authentic taste. Generous portion. Good service. Nice, clean place and clean bathrooms. Parking is free after 4:30 pm at the square in front of the restaurant. My hotel reception recommended this restaurant and it was not a disappointment at all. The steamed chicken with Chilli oil(no picture, sorry)is a must if you can take the level of spicy. Ma Po Tofu with minced pork (picture here) is also my favorite.

a friend told me about this restaurant... initially I was a little hesitant, the environment is very bare with no decorations. the service was very kind and welcoming. but my opinion has definitely changed reading the menu... finally a traditional Chinese cuisine... many of the dishes in their menu I have never seen in any other Chinese place, not only in the UK but not even in Italy or Hungary. the service was fast and the dishes full of flavour. perhaps the presentation could have been better but honestly it is not important given the goodness of this cuisine! definitely worth visiting again as soon as possible!

Although restaurant is clean, the decor is bear and soulless, just red pained walls. The staff needs training on on how to communicate with customers. The staff should be in uniform, they were causally dressed like if they just stepped out of their student digs.

Yet another great meal here. There are two menus , one is spicier dishes. Really enjoyed the salt and pepper ribs and the sweet and sour chicken. Be sure to take cash as cards are not accepted.

My partner and I did a lunch date here. Second best Chinese we have ever had (and we love Chinese) traditionally made, much less of a commercial chinese than you’re lucky to find around these days. We will be returning.

This is honestly the best Chinese restaurant I have eaten in! Great selection of meals to choose off the menu, and a separate menu for milder options available too. The starters are flavourful, and the soup is delicious! Sharing a meal with a group, and this is a great option for families and groups to share a selection of meals. One thing that could be improved on is the selection of soft drinks that are not Diet, but there were enough options overall to drink!! 100% recommend anyone going.

I wish I could give it more than 5 stars!! I couldn't have imagined that such an authentic Chinese restaurant would exist in Bangor. The food is just awesome and if you ask them they'll even customize it to your preferences.

Very disappointing & will not go back No atmosphere, dreadful layout , poor service all round .. like a canteen , not even offered chopsticks . Nobody cared about our food & whether we enjoyed it or not We were served by 3/4 different Uni students . Food was very average .. a lot of veg & sauce & very little good quality meat . What a shame for such a large space !

Food was absolutely delicious but…….. the restaurant area is terrible, it’s more like a train station cafe which is such a shame. Good job I hadn’t realised the restaurant was so uninviting as I simply wouldn’t of booked. Also it was absolutely freezing in the there! This place would lend itself to doing buffet nights as plenty of space in there. Such a shame surroundings let it down.

Honestly this was one of the best Chinese I have had, it made anywhere in Manchester Chinatown look rubbish. Serving you a mixture sichuan dishes and Cantonese fare. Pricing very reasonable £10-20 a dish Portion size was big, all 5 dishes we ordered was freshly prepared and tasted exceptional. Purposely ordered more so we could have it again the next day as we live far away. I would highly recommend if your in the vacinity I probably would even travel that far for it as it was that good.

Lovely place, amazing food, fairly good prices- Cash or bank transfer only. We came here for the first time just before covid when it was a pretty new place. Food has been just as good every time we have come since. Portions are good, always leave the place full! Lovely staff too. Atmosphere is good, came in on a Thursday and it was still busy.

Found the restaurant on trip advisor and looked forward to something a bit more spicy on the day. Unfortunately only cash or bank transfer was accepted which was not convenient as this was a business trip expense.

Extremely Excellent original Sichuan Chongqing cuisines were enjoyed today. Enjoyed the Hotpot Hogo as I had enjoyed earlier in Chongqing. Would definitely strongly recommend for all to relish on this very original Sichuan cuisines. Lovely Chinese restaurant with nearby free parking. Welcoming, cheerful atmosphere, generous portions of subtly flavoured dishes. We had visited again today, the New Year ie. 1 January’2024. Which was a tasty selection of prawn starters. Then for mains, we enjoyed the regular Hotpot Hogo , plus noodles and our favourite chicken in red hot chilies etc. It was all delicious. It is definitely a very super place to eat. Most of the other customers seemed to be Oriental, and many locals too,which is itself a great recommendation in itself. Just remember it is a CASH only place. I have been coming to this place regularly for the last three years , mainly because of the Extremely Excellent original Sichuan Chongqing cuisine chef cum owner, who is definitely one of the best in the world. Mind you I have been travelling all over the world. Incidentally, I have been visiting China from 2004 and have tasted some of the best Sichuan’s cuisines in mainly Chongqing and Chengdu and the nearby Sichuan Province areas. Thanks again for the lovely happy time.

We ate here for the first time not too long ago…safe to say we weren’t disappointed. The food was great and the portion sizes were adequate. However, the price of the food was high for the portion we received. Overall we would recommend this place 👍

Amazing food... Loved it... One of the best Chinese food I had after moving to UK

we came here as, we heard that a lot of locals had been. however upon arrival the atmosphere was really cold, both physically (no heating on). and socially. The décor also left a lot to be desired (no pictures). the staff themselves were good however when i asked if I could add some cashew nuts to my meal, the staff replied that the owner is very stingy. the second thing that was odd was that the manager said that the owner is always watching and pointed to the cctv cameras. and finally the food was okay, nothing special. however the bill was really expensive, £8 for a portion of salt and pepper chips. Unfortunately we had bad experience. i hope you a good one. if things changes i would be more than happy to try again.

Lovely polite, attentive and happy waitresses began my fantastic experience, followed by what I can only describe as absolutely fantastic food to take away. Very impressed, unlike the majority of Chinese restaurants, the chicken chow mein, I ordered was not boiled, rubbery strips but fantastic perfectly cooked morsels of wonderfulness. The seaweed and prawn chow mein, I asked for not listed on the menu was excellent. Overall the best and nicest Chinese experience in north wales. Super generous on the prawn crackers; great value for money at £26 I am changing our usual Chinese in favour of this incredible restaurant!

Authentic home cooked style chinese food. We were on a day trip and discovered this restaurant thanks to TripAdvisor. The quality and quantity was superb and the service was amazing. The dishes are very authentic chinese cuisine and cooked to perfection! Amazing find in Bangor.

This time I came to Wales and had dinner here two days in a row. Today I ordered a large plate of chicken and mapo tofu. The large plate chicken was excellent, the chicken was springy and tender. The tofu is tender and tastes good. The service attitude of the waitress is very good

The best Chinese restaurant in Bangor The restaurant patron is very helpful and respectful, and the food is delicious and reasonably priced I ordered 6 dishes and 4 drinks for 50 pounds, and before I left, the children who were with me were given sweets.

Surprise, I happened to visit this restaurant by chance. The most delicious is the fried beef river, which is even better than many Hong Kong tea restaurants. We also ordered steamed sea bass, saliva chicken, and Chongqing hot and sour noodles. Except for the saliva chicken, which is a bit "shoe", the others All first class

Absolutely excellent food. Easily one of the best Chinese foods we’ve had and this includes the food we’ve had in China. Lovely staff as well. If we have another chance to visit we definitely will.

Located in town centre next to a car park. We didn't book and they had space for us but it was busy so we'd book next time. Drink choice is limited but the food menu is great. Happily go back again.

Generous portions of great tasting food. Friendly, efficient staff. However, if you like squirt of lemon on your salt and pepper dishes you'll have to take your own. The chef eschews the use of citrus fruits! Would definitely go there again!

The food was very authentic and delicious! If you can take spicy food, the steamed chicken with chili sauce is a nice Szechuan starter that will get the appetite going. Otherwise, the sweet and sour pork is fried till crisp and coated with enough sauce for a great balance!

The atmosphere was relaxing, the staff were attentive and polite and most of all the food here was great! It was our first time dining here tonight celebrating father's day and we all very much enjoyed ourselves. Would 100% recommend this resturant and we will be back soon!

Now I love Chinese food but takeout just doesn't do it justice. Dined in with a couple of friends and was blown away! Completely traditional and sublime! Everything was share plates and we all had a great time. The atmosphere was light and warm, the server treated you like old friends who'd been away too long. Food was fresh and delightful, plenty to go around and we even had leftovers we brought home. Can't go back to takeaways after that, just spoiled us rotten.

The best Chinese food ever. Cash only and all very authentic. Not Anglesised chinese food at all. I love the preserved eggs, the beef and white carrot hotpot, The cold tripe,the pickled cucumber the constant flow of jasmine tea oh the list goes on and on .The warm welcome when we arrive. We are always recognized.
