Tasty food, I enjoyed my chicken and chips

Quieter, and nicer than the one in Newcastle!

Sent 19pound on food chips were just pre cook it's not hard 2 cook chips an to top it of a bit hair in my food think they should be made to wear hair nets

I ordered a chicken fillet burger meal is says 8.95 on the menu including drink they charged me 11 pound they should update menu price very misleading

Very disappointed with this KFC one of the worst I've visited, food inconsistent staff disinterested

This is a good well run place selling the delicious herrons country fried chixken.. Much the same quality all over. Good. . And staff alwqys attentive pleasant and kept busy. And very good value.

These outlets have been hit or miss this one was a hit .

We went here while on holiday, chicken is OK skin not crispy but sloppy very greasy, very slow service seems to me they can only do 1 order at a time, even though there are plenty of staff on, but they are just standing talking and staring at the customer's, but they don't actually take your order. Herons chicken used to be the best totally different taste now, long before I would go back, and you only get 1 good size piece of chicken and the other piece is a wing in the 2 piece snack box.

Good food but poor service for condiments never seem to get them.

Extremely irregular quality. Used to be great, way better than KFC. Then got new ownership; apparently recipe and cooking instructions weren't part of the deal. Ordered from them a few months ago; no idea how you manage to overcook fried chicken closer to the bone while leaving outside soggy. Gave another shot last week; much improved although the outside was crispy & the meat there nice & moist still overlooked, mysteriously near the bone. But if new owners discover other seasonings than salt (was oversalted for me; but most people use a lot of salt in everything which makes it harder to taste salt, so probably ok by most people's taste) but if they figure out other things exist to season fried chicken (like thyme) & get cooking times down a bit better, then they'll be a welcome addition indeed to Kilkeel. 3 stars because they improved quite a bit since first try since ownership change and a lot of improvement in relatively short time. Can just drop in; which is nice, and husband said service was pretty good and was prompt. Will try again in again a couple of months and change review accordingly; hopefully improvement will continue and I can up stars then!

Chicken really good, big portion of fries

The place is clean, service is pretty quick and they also have the added bonus of nugeleto for dessert 😆

Excellent food. Also serve fries for breakfast. Best in area. Coffee shop at back with plenty of tray bakes, scones, etc.

If it's nice do it twice. The taco and garlic sauce kebabs are the real deal. Had it two nights in a row and didn't do a third because that would just be wrong 😋

No good garlic mayo like soup one forkfull of chicken in my kebab didn't know wither the nuggets were cold or chicken. No hurry back

On my way in to my logal country fried chicken tandragee I was charged £6.10for a burger meal then I was charged £6.30 I was told this was a sugar tax burger was small and cold

Orded 2 chicken burger meals. Was served Cold chicken in a bap with the tiniest amount of coleslaw. So disappointing.

Visited here for lunch it was outstanding, the staff was extremely friendly and welcoming the variety of food was excellent especially the slimming menu. Would highly recommend

Staff very friendly and food just great

Very rude staff. A man ordered before us while there was two staff at the till and another at the back of the kitchen. When we went up to order and said hello, the two women at the till ignored us and walked off. We waited a few minutes to see if they were going to come back to the till to take our order but they didn't so we left. Maybe they're incapable of completing more than one order at a time. Shocking service, will never return.

This fast food sit in & take away has a warm and welcoming atmosphere with a café that serves a range of beverages, sandwiches and delicious desserts. You will always find something to spoil yourself.

Had the super chip which was delicious. Chicken breasts weren't too salty. Miles better than KFC and any others, this is the best place in Newcastle for country fried chicken. Maybe the decor could be improved though

Good food a friendly staff will be bk

I visited the Kilkeel kfc fillet on Friday 30th September, ordered a chicken fillet which had numberous bones and fat throughout it, quite inedible and as it was a takeaway I was unaware until I was home. There must have been an issue with the chip fryers also as they were overcooked and hard. I have to say the staff were lovely but the food was very disappointing. I will avoid Kilkeel kfc in the future.

Good value for money. Very busy most of the time.

My usual super chip was lovely and chicken breast was nice as well. The whole family enjoyed it, and you should too!

Pleasant staff, good food, even have a great slimmers menu, would highly recommend if you are around Killkeel give a go you won't be disappointed. 10 out 10 from me.

As usual the place is packed but the service was quick. The staff are pleasant. I had the super chip and chicken breast which was great. There's nothing more to say!

From the outside this cafe is a little deceiving it looks like a certain Fried Chicken establishment. Inside the cafe is split in two, one part is the Fried Chicken takeaway the other part is a sit down country kitchen style cafe. So I had a seat and ordered breakfast. The service was quick and friendly, the breakfast was well cooked and very well presented. I really enjoyed the breakfast served with tea, and toast for £5.50 which was excellent value.

Better tasting than the Colonel's chicken and much better service too.

Delicious fry freshly made unless you’re very hungry the small fry is adequate . Friendly staff don’t be afraid to ask. Very clean. Their carry out is fast and consistent.

Had a lovely brunch here today the kids all wanted something different and the staff were very helpful and sorted us all out two adults 4 children food was lovely hot and the place is spotless

I have done the country fried chicken I have been to and I live in ballynahinch.Richard Herron the owner of the kilkeel branch provides quality food everytime and it is always nice and clean in it.

Took the two we ones in today for there tea they loved the chicken nuggets and curry chips . the staff were helpful. The place was spotless

Makes the best chicken burger ever. If you are near to Herrons you have to stop and get one to try foryourself.

Had a lovely lunch here today what I love is in the kids can get fast food like gravy chips if they want and I can still get a nice dinner plus my we man just wanted a egg in a bap and it's no bother to get what your child is going to eat. The staff are fantastic

I love the food here only downside is if I want my coleslaw on the side instead of on top of my food I get charged an extra £1 and then it means I get less coleslaw other than that it's good

Best kebab on chip iv ever had! Very clean and tidy and a great varitey on meals and meal deals. They even serve coffee here.

CFC is in a lot of towns across NI but Kilkeel is most certainly the best 1. Fast service and the food is always good it's always busy but with the great efficient staff you never have long to wait. Great wraps, burgers, kebabs and chicken gravy

This is definitely the best Country Fried Chicken around, there is one in my hometown which i never go to, but every time I am in Kilkeel I have to go to this one.

Superb and surely the best chicken outlet in the area. Nice clean and very big service area and great varoety of chicken variations to choose from and in my opinion best complimented by Herrons own very unique chicken gravy sauce makes it food to die for. Never miss an opportunity to visit when in Newcastle.

Popped in here for lunch. Great staff, friendly and helpful. Didn't realise they had as much on the menu, thought it was just an extension of the chicken burgers and kebabs. Thai red curry is really good. I'll be back and happy to recommend the sit in menu.

Haven't been here for a while, so decided to give it a try once again. I ordered chicken fillet, chips and curry sauce. The queue was lengthy. Quite a wait. When I finally did receive the food it was not as hot as I'd have expected and the chicken unfortunately was rather greasy with a somewhat burnt oil taste. Hopefully this improves on my next visit or it really will be my final one.

Not sure where to start. Staff friendly but that's it,food is probably the worst I've eaten. My partner and had drumsticks white meat on the bone and Chips. Chips were like eating carboard dry and tasteless chicken was just a pile of greese. After eating about half of it both of us felt sick. So folks save yourself the bother and eat elsewhere. WE WON'T BE BACK.

I love herrons however, I found the one in Kilkeel very disappointing. The staff got my order wrong. The chips were hard and the gravy wasn't nice at all. Definitely a different taste to every other CFC I've ate in. Won't be back

Had a nice chicken burger Saturday past from here also ordered 2 extra pieces of chicken which were lovely too, didn't sit in but they have plenty of space & chairs to sit in, looks very clean and inviting, there was plenty off people in there when I was in also so that's a good sign.

Very clean. Helpful staff. Easy to read menu. Great sitting area. Good cafe as well also toilet facilities great for every member of family.

On Saturday afternoon of 24 Oct 2015 I entered the premises of Herrons CFC Newcastle and ordered a 3 piece meal. I was then asked by a HCFC employee, who I was subsequently informed was "Ellie Maguire", if I wanted chips with my meal. I asked her if chips weren't already included in meal, and she replied "no". I thought this very strange, and replied "no chips", and was then served up 3 pieces of chicken without chips or a drink. I then had to order a Fanta. When I got home I realised that I had been charged for a 3 piece meal, but received no chips or drink, and had in effect paid for the drink twice. I then spoke by phone to a female employee who works at Herrons and was told that the 3 piece meal on their menu DID include chips, so I was evidently lied to by HCFC employee Ellie Maguire.I wasn't provided with a receipt for my purchase either. I suffer from a back complaint, which makes it very difficult to walk and drive, and asked the woman I spoke to on the phone if she could arrange to have what money I was owed by HCFC brought to my home. She declined my request. I then emailed Herrons with my official complaint. Herron's "Ryan Heggarty" acknowledged receipt of my complaint by email, and replied with "One of our team members will contact you shortly". That was on 24 Oct 2015 and I still haven't received any contact. Herrons sell edible chicken, it's just that the staff they employ leave a lot to be desired. Because of my customer dissatisfaction with HCFC, I have been left with no option but to post my negative experience of Herrons CFC, Newcastle, Co. Down on a number of relevant business review sites including this one, as I feel it is my duty as a consumer to make the general public aware of just how woefully bad the staff at this establishment are.Lying to customers about what is included in a so-called "meal", which according to one female staff member "Ellie Maguire", is not a meal at all, speaks for itself. If ever in Main Street, Newcastle, Co. Down, Northern Ireland and feeling a bit peckish; do yourself a favour, and instead of visiting Herrons CFC, pop across the road to KFC, where you are guaranteed some quality chicken, and some customer service that doesn't include being needlessly and unfathomably lied to, and ripped off.

good hot quick food and service. we went very early and the staff were all happy and helpful. i had scrambled eggs on toast and it must have been made with at least 4 eggs it was fab and well worth the money.

Chicken breast missing from order - although the food was absolutely revolting I took 1 bite from the greasy chicken and couldn't even manage to swallow it. Tried to eat a few of the chips and died of heartburn after only managing a few handfuls. Cannot understand previous reviews as this is the worst food I've ever gotten from a takeaway. Will never return.

The Chicken in this Herron's Kilkeel is so fresh and very juicy. They must have a good supplier.Not greasy at all like lots of chicken retailers.I noticed lots of customers ordering the Chicken Kebab on Chips with Chicken Sauce or Curry Sauce. Very large portion of chips, with a chicken fillet cup up over the top. Looked very tasty, but I am a meat, fish or chicken eater. Like my food with very little processing or reformed to look like chicken etc.
