Herbs And Spice in South Tyneside

Using Herbs and Spice on just eat had a 20% off offer so never to turn down money off and after looking at the big menu we decided to give them a go as there were plenty of new dishes for us to try. Now if the 20% off is good it means nothing if the meals were poor. This was far from the case, they were all excellent quality, received 15 minutes early, hot and ready to go. The Naan tikka was light and really tasty, sometimes they’re hard around the edges or lack filling, my son and I found the chips were really tasty but spicy whereas my husband found them lovely and tasty. Tikka rice was plentiful and lovely and after filling ourselves there’s enough leftovers for two tomorrow. Can’t fault the takeaway at all, glad we found it and gave it a try.

We tried this as an alternative to 'our usual' which is closed for refurbishment and were left slightly underwhelmed. We opted for their Sunday special and apart from the chicken tikka starter which had a nicely balanced marinade found the food was relatively bland and uninspiring. The chicken Dhansak contained 6 very small 'pieces' of chicken and the sauce which is traditionally cooked with lentils to add thickness was too thin and a result failed to satisfy the hunger earned from a busy Sunday. Any level of chilli heat was completely lacking with no hint of spice. The rice was of fair quality and the naan bread was average. After resisting the many menus describing wonderful and reputed quality food offering we won't be rushing back unfortunately.

Absolutely delicious curries, full of flavour. Prices great & menu plenty of options. We live in Sunderland and order from Herbs & Spice as the food is that nice. Prawn bhuna was delicious, naans lovely & extra poppadoms are always a bonus. Can't wait for the next one.

This is the 2nd time we have had a takeaway from Herbs and Spice. When you place your order the gentleman is always polite, helpful and friendly. We always request delivery. The menu is excellent, giving you advice on what's hot, what's spicy, and the prices. Always plenty of choice. I would certainly recommend this brilliant takeaway. The delivery driver is very nice.

I used to visit here after work all the time but no longer live in the area. I still visit every time i return to South Shields though. I’ve never found a decent curry shop anywhere in my new home town centre even though the street is full of them. Herbs and spices really are that good! I find the curry extra spicy compared with other takeaways but i like this. First timers might want to order a weaker curry than usual just incase.

Had a lovely takeaway tonight. Very tasty and good recommendations from the staff for me (as a picky veggie). Tasty rice, breads, and main. Give it a go!

With a wedding to get healthy for we decided on a final takeaway, thought we'd end on a high but wish we'd ordered from elsewhere. The onion bhaji's were greasy rather than crisp & there was no mint sauce provided. The curry itself was bland & very 'watery', needed to add salt. The mushroom bhaji & bhuna prawn puree was just as tasteless as the rest. Doubt we'll ever use again & after this I expect to delay our diet for another week....

One of the best curries i've ever had only word i have is amazing and their manager mas he is a credit to the buisness one of canniest people iv met!! Well done herbs n spice :)

Not nice at all if not going to use breast then should be a option to say if want breast or not . The chicken was awful had black bits and stringy bits threw it really put me off and it went in the bin :( wouldn't use again for this reason. Delivery driver was canny tho

Amazing food every time I order, food is usually delivered withing half an hour and always hot on arriving. Wouldn't consider going anywhere else! Customer service is great and they are always happy to help.

Ordered a few times from here, first 2 times food, driver and delivery times were perfect 5*. Third time round, food is half an hour late, drivers starts getting abusive towards my 12 yr old daughter who answered the door because HE couldn't find the address, that is until I come round the corner, confront his behaviour and he can't apologise enough, worse still the food was now cold and soggy, never again, I can forgive the food not being to the usual high standard but you guys need a new driver, this guy's an ape.

I messed up with my order using Just Eat and rang the take away, I explained to the manager and he was more than helpful.. Big thank you for sorting it out! Good came prompt when promised and very hot. So came straight from the shop! The starter was all fresh considering it was late.. I recommend the mixed kebab! Main curry was really tasty but I found a little bland.. My fault I should have asked for madras hot but totally forgot! I have ordered from there before and certainly won't hesitate to order from there in the future!.. All in all hot, fresh food delivered on time. Will definitely recommend

Food was great apart the onion Bhaji was slightly overcooked, also the popadom was all broken and looked like it come from a packet.

Well worth ordering a take away from this little gem. Excellent quality, lots of choice even for vegetarians!!! Will be adding to the list of favourites!
