Amazing meal and great service. We came on a Tuesday night and it was a real buzz. The waiter was super efficient and the food was second to none. Don’t hesitate … come pay a visit

I would suggest new interior and menus and make it look modern. The service was great however, the waitress was lovely and we managed to book a table an hour before arriving which was great.

We ordered beef massaman curry, jasmine rice and deep fried chicken. The food quality was appalling. The massaman curry was extremely watery. It had no seasoning at all, didn't taste like anything. The rice wasn't fragrant and the chicken was chewy and rubbery. Really disappointed with the food. Definitely wouldn't return.

Visited Orange grass the other night and had a delicious meal, food was incredible good, as was the service, the staff were warm welcoming and efficient.

I have been going to orangegrass for 14 years and I have never had a bad experience. The food is always amazing, the staff are always warm and welcoming and the restaurant itself is beautiful. The soups and salads are unbelievable and the chicken with cashews in a chilli sauce is my absolute favourite. Amazing value for money too. Probably the best restaurant in South Shields

Today is my son's birthday. The Thai food is very delicious, and the staff even helped prepare a surprise in the evening. Thank you so much🥰😍😁😉🥳

Dined here on Thursday 29th February and would highly recommend as the food was excellent and the staff were very friendly and courteous. Will be returning soon.

I've ordered several times from this restaurant for delivery and it's never been on time. I've finally had enough and wont be ordering again. Order placed at 19:10, estimated delivery time was 20:17. Received an email at 19:18 saying the order would be delayed by 10 mins. No big deal. Called the restaurant at 20:44 as still no delivery and was told 6-7 minutes. Order finally arrived 21:05. Food was cold, stodgy, very little sauce with the main, and way past its best. Had to put the food in the microwave which is far from ideal, so we ended up leaving most of it. Called the shop to complain at 21:30 to be told that there was NO WAY the delivery turned up at 21:05 and i was just a LIAR. The guy on the phone said he had no qualms giving refunds but in this case he wasn't going to do anything. I hadn't even brought the subject up. Overall, this was just an abysmal experience from a very poor restaurant. STAY AWAY.

Clean and nicely decorated room. Excellent service and well presented tasty food at a reasonable price.

Took my niece here for a night out, food was lovely couldn't complain. Unfortunately service was a let down, after our table was cleared, nobody asked us if wanted anything else, so after 35 mins we asked a waitress if we could order something else, she acknowledged and then the bill came! I was a little sharp with the waiter (sorry) I explained that I didn't want the bill but wanted to order coffees, he said OK and said has nobody asked you? No they hadn't. He did say sorry but we just felt forgotten about, which is a shame as the food is lovely. Maybe next time won't be forgotten, no hot towels no desserts 😔

Not a good service, food was late 30 min. Literally rang them to remind them I had ordered online delivery. I had to wait other 40 min 😩

It’s always a special treat going to Orangegrass. It’s situated just outside the town centre and worth finding. Atmosphere staff and food was excellent, no faults from either of us. They also do takeaways and deliveries.

Acceptable for south shields standards. Not as authentic as expected. Understandably heavily anglicised to suit local community otherwise the business wouldn’t sustain.

Ordered a takeaway on Saturday the 13th May 2023 which was simply a green Thai curry with Rice. We collected the meal ourselves and returned home with it immediately. It had extremely limited water-like sauce, a few slices of onion and 4 small prawns in it. Oh, and one piece of random tomato. I took a picture of the meal which I will try and upload with this review. What a sorry excuse this was for what turned out to be an expensive takeaway!! If this is the type of rubbish the Orange grass are putting out, we won't be going back there in a hurry. This was one of the worst takeaways I've had in a long time, and I'm really not easily put off by things. I've never left a review on here but felt compelled to do so for this meal. I only gave it 2 stars because the small amount of food we did get was actually quite tasty, otherwise it would have been a deserving 1 star.

Tried for the first time tonight, fair drive from Sunderland ! - menu comprehensive, food lovely, staff friendly, restaurant nice. From the outside looks iffy but inside food and service was first class - will definitely return despite the distance !

Visited the Sunday buffet for the first time . The manager was very pleasant, got us a seat and explained how it worked. The place itself is lovely and he even brought a heater as it was quite cold in there. First thing we found while visiting the buffet was the plates were very cold which isn't a good start, the choice of food was very limited and mostly barely warm, so by the time it went on the cold plates was then cold too. There was very little sauce in the food and the blackbean sauce was far too spicy. Red hot!! Dessert was shop bought cake, fresh fruit or tasteless cheap ice cream which we had to ask for (wish we hadn't bothered). For the price it was very disappointing and certainly wouldn't go again or recommend it. Shame really as we were so looking forward to it.

The first time we have been to the monthly sunday buffet, great choice of food which is always well stocked with fresh piping hot dishes .

Food was good, staff were great .. only issue was it is upstairs and we had an old person with us. If we had known about stairs we might have left her at home

Lovely food, very pleasant and helpful staff. Be aware this is an upstairs resteraunt 3 flights, steep and different lengths. The toilets are very narrow and down a flight of stairs. There are no baby changing facilities but space was provided twice. There were some heating issues the night we went but hopefully these will be sorted. They were very helpful with vegan requirements, but my daughter in law would have liked a bit more tufu and vegtables in her dish. We will go back but not with my disabled mother because of the stairs.

I cannot recommend this restaurant enough. Beautiful Thai meal (very tasty and authentic. My partner travelled around Thailand for 6 months and he even said how stunning it was). Decor was very nice too and price well worth it. Service was second to none. Couldn’t do enough for us. Thank you for such a fantastic evening. We will be back - 10/10.

First class food and service,very friendly staff.

Usually a very lovely place. Beautiful food and helpful staff. Also usually no issues with delivery. Tonight we waited 2 hours for food. I called three times, and I was told each time it would be a few minutes. I ended up waiting a further 45 minutes from the initial call. The lady on reception said she would call back and didn't. When we rang back up she said she couldnt get hold of him. The man delivering, Manager? Was very rude. So the food, which at this point should have been in his car 45 mins as the lady on reception said it was in his car over 45 mins away, just laughed when we asked if it would be cold. When I said if it is cold we may have to cancel, he just tried to grab it flippantly and said okay I can take it before we had even checked. No apology and very unprofessional. Just found him rude and tonight's service really poor unfortunately. This has put me off using orangegrass in the future. Shame.

Visited this evening, we were all delighted! The starters arrived and all 3 of us had to take pictures of them before we tucked in. We loved them but also liked the look of what the others had ordered. The mains were just as good :) Our waiter Titu was friendly, helpful and efficient which just topped off the evening. Absolutely much more than we'd hoped for...

Yet another delicious meal at The Orangegrass. There’s nothing else like it in the area and it’s the tastiest, authentic Thai food you can have. Id really recommend the ped grob. Have it every time I go. The buffet banquets on Sundays are fabulous as well, great way to be able to try out lots of different dishes and discover something new!

Returned here for our wedding anniversary meal. Last time was about 3 years ago and enjoyed the meal. This time the food was lovely but we were served the wrong dish twice. The prawn starter became chicken and the duck main also became chicken. Maybe that's all they had to cook! Shame. Also our dessert was forgotten about and had to remind them.

Everything was lovely except the beef starter which spoilt the experience, described as Grilled marinated beef in a special sauce with coriander shoots and garlic. Just too pieces of dried up, non marinated meat, no sauce, garlic or coriander shoots. Really terrible overshadowed the rest of the food.

So, me and my girlie popped up to Newcastle for my birthday, and as a special treat was gifted with tickets to see the Magpies do there stuff at St James's park....However on our day of arrival (my birthday), I fancied a Chinese do you think we could find one with in a twenty minute drive of our hotel? Could we heck as like! We actually ended up at a (very nice) pizza hut... However, four days later we stumbled across this unassuming eatery on our way back from South Shields, and what a find! From the outside this establishment doesn't look particularly appealing, but, trust me, it was well worth a visit up the rickety staircase to a very clean very well laid out restaurant. We were greeted in a traditional style by our waitress who led us to a nice table on the mezzanine overlooking the eatery. Our entertainment was provided by a rather excitable chef who was screaming and shouting at the top of her voice in her native tongue... The menu was packed with goodies and a wide selection of Chinese/Asian fayre. I opted for the chicken and sweetcorn soup for starters and it didn't disappoint! We both had sour fry for our main course and it was not only well presented it was truly delicious and flavoursome. The drinks menu offered not only the usual choices, but also a small selection of cocktails and mocktails. I opted for an alcohol free Pina Colada. The staff were great, very friendly, and you could see that they work as a team. This is not an overly expensive destination, and worth every single penny of our hard earned southern cash! Do yourself a favour, and pop in for a great experience

This was an outstanding meal. Everything about it. We were a large table, seven of us, but this didn’t impact the service or quality at all. The service was first rate and the food was sublime. Special mention for the soup and the lamb massamam curry that I had. Really excellent.

Fantastic food as always so tasty full of Thai flavours. Waiter was very helpful as I was keen to have a meal with strong kafier lime leaf flavours and recommended the perfect dish. Food is always so well presented.

Rude and very disrespectful staff that charge customers incorrectly, check your bill is correct but expect to be hung up on when you bring this to staffs attention. After years of custom and loyalty we won’t be ordering from here again.

Received a warm welcome in this spacious restaurant. The service was slick and the food ( a duck dish and a king prawn dish) was delicious. With not being in the town centre there is plenty of parking nearby.

Ordered a takeaway and was a bit skeptical as hadn't ordered from here before but it was really good! Great price, massive portions and really tasty. My partner, who is extremely fussy, loved it so definitely a win there!

Wonderful atmosphere, delicious food, charming staff. Also very clean. Thoroughly recommend it especially if you enjoy authentic Thai cuisine.

Amazing food great service and very good value

I was very disappointed after reading all the positive reviews. The Tum Yum was the worst I have ever had. The Pad Thai was awful with over cooked chicken and the rest of the meal was a complete disaster. However the staff were good and the prawn crackers edible, thank god for small mercies.

Went to orangegrass this evening for a long awaited catch up with some family. So much amazing food to choose from and nothing is too much trouble for the warm, welcoming and friendly service. The food is delicious and brilliantly presented. Even the kids loved their choices from the kids menu. Turned out to be a bargain too with the government eat out scheme. Can not recommend this place enough. Can't wait to return again soon.

We ordered from here on just eat at 16.14pm to be delivered for 8.40pm it did not arrive until 9.37pm. When the food arrived it was cold, the chow mien we payed extra to have chicken within the meal... It came with no chicken. £7.00...
