Customer service was amazing. Food wasn’t good at all, far better Chinese food in harborne. Food was bland and tasteless, and we found a hair inside our dumpling. This was immediately replace by staff.

Amazing! I visited with my mum and elderly grandfather who struggles to walk and he spoke of visiting this restaurant many years ago. The staff were wonderful, so kind and gracious helping my grandfather to feel comfortable and accommodated. The food was delicious and of such a high quality, he mentioned the food tasted just as good as it did when he visited many years ago. We could not have asked for a better meal! Staff were so attentive and helpful without being overbearing and the food was so fresh and delicious. I highly recommend visiting Henry Wong’s, thank you for a wonderful meal!

Always amazing whenever I dine in or takeaway the manager (the man from Thailand) is such a lovely person! He always ensure service is top tier and has a conversation with people even when busy!

First visit here and defo the last. Didn’t get a warm welcome when we arrived. We sat down to order out food with high expectations after reading some of the good reviews although was a bit dubious after also reading the bad ones. Well where do I start- the chicken fried rice was bland, the chicken had no colour or taste, looked like it had been boiled not fried and the rice was stodgy. The fried chicken dumplings tasted like sage and onion stuffing with no chicken to be seen. The chilli chicken was literally a dried chicken burger with peppers and onions, the chilli chips wasn’t too bad but for over £6 there was literally 10 chips on a plate. So I ordered a chicken chow mein and by the time they came to clear the table I still had no meal, the waitress tried to blame me and say I never ordered this however I was the first to order. We asked for curry sauce and they said this is something that is made specially if orders and cost £5 and tasted like a fruit sauce nothing oriental about it and defo not curry sauce. They seem to concentrate on style on the plating rather than quality and taste of the food. The waitress had the audacity to say I did not order any food so what am I going to do, sit and watch 3 other people eat, which luckily they didn’t due to the poor quality and taste. I asked to speak to the manager, didn’t even get an apology and was having a dispute with the waitress in front of us to which we had to point out how unprofessional this was. My partner said it should be called Henry wrong lol. The cheek of it was all they took off the bill we The £5.70 service charge after it was their mistake and their tasteless food. All I’m all a terrible experience. It’s a shame wok chi was fully booked to dine in as we had to order a take out from wok chi to go home with. Rude staff, rude manager, terrible food.

If I could put zero stars I would. For years I me and my wife wanted to try this place so we did tonight food was like takeaway food only good thing was curry sauce. Carpet was absolutely filthy then I went to the toilet on the walls was stained and dirty then as I approached the toilet it was like a building site massive hole in the wall where the waste pipe goes out the wall. Very disappointed and will never go there again.

Been some time since I last eat here and I won’t be rushing back. The place is soulless, too bright and desperately in need of a refurbishment. Admittedly, the staff are friendly, but the food came out within 5 minutes of us placing our order. We thought we were going for a Chinese meal in a restaurant, but the speed of the service, it felt more like a take away. When it came the food was well presented and tasted was OK, but over priced for what it was. From walking through the door to paying the bill was 40 minutes and they weren’t busy. Still trading on the back of the Henry Wong name.

Had a family Xmas meal . They put us on a large round table which was too big. We had to shout to each other due to the distance. It was a table which could have held 10 people but we were only 5. Also served rice with egg in it when I asked for no egg. They still placed a service charge even though they got the order wrong and served egg. Not worth the money. Won’t be going again.

I recently dined at this fantastic Cantonese restaurant and had an amazing experience! The service was exceptional, thanks to our waiters, Meng and Nick. They were attentive, friendly, and made great recommendations from the menu. Meng was particularly knowledgeable about the dishes, suggesting some of the restaurant's specialties that truly impressed us. Nick's warm demeanor added to the welcoming atmosphere, making our meal even more enjoyable. If you're looking for delicious Cantonese cuisine and excellent service, I highly recommend this place!

First time here and last I'm afraid.....we didn't like the food or the menu tbh, it's really is UP MARKET food and very pricey. If your looking for run of the mill Chinese food, such as, chicken curry or chips etc, then forget it cus like I said it's UP MARKET. Just being honest.

Amazing food & service, better than your local Chinese! The food all had an individual flavour and was delicious. The drinks also were lovely I recommend the lychee mocktail. The service has been excellent and very efficient I would definitely come back here again.

Enjoyed honey and pepper prawns, excellent. Unfortunately for the first time at this restaurant my duck with plumb sauce was a little tough. Everything else was excellent. Great staff and atmosphere.

Excellent food, excellent service, nothing negative at all. We would normally go to Chinatown for Chinese food but have been trying local places recently. Henry Wong is very impressive, the staff are friendly and attentive, the chefs are quick to cook so you don’t have to wait long, and the food really is delicious.

Food is always: tasty, fresh, authentic and well presented. Service is excellent and the atmosphere is friendly. Great place and dining experience for the whole family.

Phenomenal food! We ordered via Deliveroo and hands down the best food we’ve had in Birmingham. Sesame prawn toast was mind blowing, and the sweet & sour was like nothing I’ve tasted before (from someone who usually hates it - husband’s order). Really missed our favourite place in London (Good Earth) and this has filled the gaping hole in our lives!!

The atmosphere, service, and food quality are all good. It's a little pricey, but the quality is good. I recommend this place for special occasions or when you need to entertain guests. It is not irritating and not greasy. If there's one thing that's disappointing, it's that it's only open for dinner and not lunch.

The restaurant was recommend by a friend who had been on several occasions previously. The service and the food was excellent, levels above your standard Cantonese restaurant & buffets well forget about it. If your primary focus is price then do not dine here it is not overly expensive but more pricey than other places I have been. As the saying goes though you get what you pay for and this was worth it. I will definitely visit again within the next few months. Thank you to all the staff that facilitated a very pleasant evening.

Top notch .... We have been twice in as many months, and I am right off Chinese at the moment due to generic and flavouring. but Henry Wongs definitely pay a lot of attention to detail in this department, produce is excellent high quality and fresh, spices are balanced, very flavoursome yet interesting and not overpowering, Not the cheapest, but definitely worth that little bit extra. Excellent if not one of the best.

Called to book a reservation for 1pm and said that they are full and I would need a card payment deposit. I said that it didn't say anything about a deposit when confirmation text was sent to me,so they accepted my reservation,but then said that once we get there the kitchen will close at 2pm, they weren't wrong at all,they rushed us to order,didn't ask if we wanted any drinks for about 25 minutes and on top of that when we basically finished the food ,they came took the plates and started taking the tablecloth off the table while we were still drinking. The lady waitress was lovely presentable and polite but the manager was very rude,didn't acknowledge us in any means possible ,and to top it off,the restaurant only had one more table dining at the time,the whole restaurant was empty. I asked to bring the starters first until 2 other guests arrive in 5 minutes time and was declined and brought out all the starters and main courses together and it was only 1.20pm now ,so the kitchen had another 40 minutes for us. Would I go again and look at the £18 service charge they asked for -no way, food was brilliant either the crispy beef and sweet sour chicken were that elasticated I wonder how long they had been blanched for. Decor was very plain,toilets clean but doors dirty, Overall a 3/10

First class food and really great service, make this the best place to visit for Chinese cuisine. China Town is good, but Henry Wong is better. Check out the manager Ming, he dresses cooler than me and I am an International Playboy.The girls that served us,Tong and Nik are so hospitable and will make your visit really enjoyable.

Ate there on Saturday 20th January 2024 with 2 friends. Service was amazing food exceptional and the whole experience was fantastic.even though they were busy they didn’t neglect anybody. Best Chinese restaurant I have been to. We were visiting Birmingham but will use it next time we’re there

It pains me to write this review but after being our favourite restaurant for almost thirty years we had our very first disappointing meal last week. The restaurant has been taken over and the menu largely remains the same. However, the new chef seems to have “ tinkered” with some of the dishes on the menu. The result was a seafood dish with soggy bits of chopped up noodles (always been long crispy noodles), slimy mushrooms and a pool of liquid in the bowl which ruined the dish. Crispy duck was cut into thick chunks and not one part was crispy. The beef dish on the set menu has changed and was watery. The starter greasy and inedible. I realise after being customers for so long we could be accused of being “set in our ways” regarding this restaurant, but soggy bits of noodles and crispy duck which is soggy would, I suspect not sit well with new customers either. It is not cheap to eat here. Too much emphasis seems to be put now on the presentation of the dishes but style over substance is not the way to go! Yes, the old manager was rather miserable but she ran a tight ship and the food was infinitely better than it was this time. Sadly will not be returning.

We have been coming here for years. There was 10 of us. It has changed management recently but the chef and some staff remain. The service and food were fantastic. If never disappoints and they mange large groups really well.

What a lovely evening. It was my birthday, and went just as a couple..but it became one of the nicest nights out because of the service and food. When they knew it was my birthday they gave me a delicious desert with a candle, and sang happy birthday. A lovely end to a great meal. The sea bass in ginger and spring onion was beyond beautiful. My partner had fillet steak in blackbean sauce..delicious... I cant fault anything.

Ive been frequenting this reastraunt for over 5 years or more. Ive recommended it to friends and family. However last night i had a really disappointing experience. My partner ordered a single dark kraken and diet coke and normally these are priced at 3.75-£5.00 and these came back as £10 for a single with no mixer. Thats the price of cocktail ! I frequently travel for work and even down in London i have not paid this price. Brought this up with staff which agreed it was an odd pricing but pointed us to the menu. Felt like we were being ripped pff since my partner ordered 3 and we could of brought a bottle for £30 Wont be recommending the place again sadly.

Food was top notch as always, I love their gluten free menu and complete understanding of what’s what when it comes to allergies, so refreshing! Highly recommend the chilli and garlic lamb, that was particularly unique, but we love it all! I have to extend special thanks to the gentleman this evening who went above and beyond to assist me in getting my 90yr old grandma in to the car, he came outside during full service, stopped the traffic, assisted with parking right outside and helped us depart safely, next level service- what a gentleman!

This has been become a real favourite of ours and has established itself as our go to Chinese restaurant in Birmingham. Set slightly off Harborne high street, this is a bit of a hidden gem. The interior is lovely, service so good (and they are great with my mum who is not as mobile as she’d lie to be) and the food outstanding. The sea bass is amazing if you fancy trying something a little different. My favourite starter is the chicken yuk sung.

We hadn’t been to Henry Wong for at least 5 years, as previously we had been treated very badly by the front of house / waitress who had a very haughty attitude. We were tempted back with a special offer and so glad we went. The food was amazing and the staff were helpful and attentive and the atmosphere was great too. I had the Singapore noodles and garlic chilli tofu. For me personally, it was slightly too salty on each occasion (we’ve been twice in the last month). It was quite expensive too and had we not had the special offers we probably couldn’t afford it.

Wonderful experience. Professional customer services. It was amazing meal.

This is certainly the top Chinese restaurant in Birmingham. The food was amazing especially Yung Sung and the Laziji lamb. The food shown itself that the chef was very delicate in preparation and cooking. The lamb was well marinated and very tender. Other dishes were also outstanding compared to other Chinese restaurant. The staff were amazing. They were friendly and, at the same time, very professional. Michael, the manager, was polite and professional in what he's doing. The atmosphere was great and classy. The music was cozy and classy. Overall, we can say that this restaurant is very impressive and we will surely visit again.

Enjoyed a meal at Henry Wong's recently. Tempura prawns were lovely. Lamb satay was our favourite dish. We also ordered the crispy duck pancakes. Nothing wrong with this dish at all, just felt it was slightly over priced for your standard crispy duck pancakes.

Visted Saturday night great new staff great new manager very polite and very helpful.Its obvious it's been taken over.Great staff very polite very helpful with smiling faces GREAT FOOD.Thank god the previous miserable manager has gone.Really great new vibe.

Amazing experience. We will sure come back. We been welcome very well. Mr Ming (I hope it's write well) welcomed us showing the food and drink menu. The starters was incredible. We ordered aromatic duck pancakes, tempura prawn and chicken dumplings. The mains was delicious as well. We had seabass in soy sauce, lobster tail with chilli and garlic and sizzling beef fillet with ginger and spring onions. Really thanks to all the staff. It was amazing dinner.

I booked Henry wongs for 4 people then read the reviews and nearly cancelled after the bad feedback! I’m so glad I didn’t cancel we had a great night the food was amazing and we all agreed the same, the service was very good and friendly helpful staff , it was a little expensive but we did really enjoy it! Battered prawns were lovely, prawn toast was great but very greasy. I was really disappointed that the garnish used on the platters was mouldy and the cucumber soggy. I pointed this out but on the next platters it was the same, looked reused. I always make the garnish fresh in case someone wants to eat it.

I have always known about Henry Wong’s but I had the pleasure of being wine & dined for my birthday & I was not disappointed! The meal was booked for 18:00, when we arrived half of the tables were already taken, which is always a good sign, The service was excellent, staff were very attentive & the food was superb 👍. I would recommend the still Italian wine which complemented the food. If you visit or live in Harborne it is certainly worth a visit.👌🏻

Went for my 31st birthday with family, was a bit of a pain booking as need to leave a deposit and kept missing each other. Other than that food and service was great.

We have eaten here over many years although not since 2020 because of COVID. We did have takeaways during that time which were good.When we visited recently the staff were pleasant, the food was good but there was no atmosphere and it was very expensive....
