This restaurant is a hidden gem in Handforth. The interior design is beautifully Greek style. The staff are friendly and served us very well. The food is tasty and appetising. Dinning there is a wonderful experience

We could not fault the food here, it was delicious very generous portions, so go here hungry! The service was not so good! Our starter took 50 mins to arrive, whilst customers who arrived after us were served. After the main course was finished, our plates were cleared, 15mins later we asked for the bill, having not been asked if we wanted desert. So, in summary, the food is really good however, the day we were there the service was not good or friendly. Having said that we will go back, to enjoy the food.

Food was excellent i had the salmon which was exceptional and everyone else had the share boards which were spot on too great value for money and top class service

Lovely decoration of restaurant, after a wonderful trip to Tsvilli Zaykinthos a few months ago I felt I was back there with my mythos and the the vibe! Had a gyros platter super filling and had to take it home! Great portion for cost! Recommend this little taste of Greece!

I’ve been practicing my Greek for 380 days on Duolingo but unfortunately no one could speak Greek to me . Maybe we will book again but I really expected someone to be able to take my order in Greek

We found this restaurant by chance while staying overnight in Manchester before our early morning flight. We looked around the Wilmslow area for dinner but most restaurants were full and not taking walk ins. We saw Ela whilst driving around and saw the reviews which were really positive The restaurant was full but they managed to get us a table and I’m really glad they did. We shared a King of the grill platter - it was excellent. The staff were welcoming and attentive, the food excellent. Brilliant meal and now our ‘go to’ restaurant when flying from Manchester.

1st visit BUT I cannot believe it was a lucky first visit! Went in on 22nd Oct 2024. Thank You to Ela's we will be back! The food was amazing! "Ela's Secret" for Starters WOW! Need that as a main. Everything cooked perfectly and hot (not warmed up) just fresh and wow! Service excellent. We were looked after by 2 waiters and both super friendly, attentive and knew how to have a laugh. (Genuinely top service). Price: Very reasonable. Not cheap but then quality food, service and atmosphere must be paid for and staff aren't free! So for me it was fair price for starters x 2, Mains x 2 and Drinks. (£66) Thank You again.

This is my second time coming here, the food, service and atmosphere are amazing. Richard served me and topped up the tzaziki when it was almost finished. Would definitely recommend going if you are in the area.

1st time here, food was average, the spanakopita pies had been reheated in the microwave & didn't have much flavour. The lamb kleftico was basically a lamb shank, which was disappointing when we have experienced true Greek food in Greece. The service was good though & our food was served at good timings

Good food shame about getting order wrong but still being charged more for a meal I didn’t have and not willing to change the bill. Staff not overly attentive.

Really nice food, however be wary of going as a group as we come to find out they have a 10% service charge and with a group of people as you may know came to a large sum however didn’t seem worth it as the customer service wasn’t worth a £5 tip there was one staff member who was lovely however others would either completely walk past and ignore when respectfully trying to gain attention which i’d understand if they were busy (which they weren’t) overall lovely food and a nice place however would be a visit again if they had lovely and welcoming staff.

We were excited to revisit Hellas after our first visit last year for Mother's day, which we we all really enjoyed. This occasion was for my son-in-law's birthday and the restaurant has recently had an extension and refurb so we wanted try it again. It no longer opens for lunch so we arrived just after it had opened at 4pm. There were a couple of other tables taken but that was it. The waitress gave us all a menu but then did not return for some time to take the drinks order. Again more waiting for the drinks to arrive. Another waitress took our food order and again we had a lengthy wait. My daughter had ordered spanakopita and my husband the gigantes which was more like a soup as there was hardly any beans in the dish. The spanakopita was over cooked and a little burnt. The other starters were fine but the tzatziki should have had homemade bread with it and the creamy mushrooms crusty bread, we got pita bread. My husband had stifado for his main course which was blisteringly hot as if it had been microwaved and so he couldn't eat it. The side orders of rice had also been microwaved as the grains were crispy and dry! The other mains were good, kleftiko, paidakia (lamb chops) and gigantes (plenty of beans this time). We complained to Zidan, the head waiter and he did his best to make amends but we shall not be returning.

Hi My daughters recommended Hellas. They have been but must have been before refurb. I decided to go as i love Greek food and my friend only eats fist or vegi and there are loads of options. We decided on dips to start and just mains as starters may have been to much. The food we had was delicious, fresh dips and hot pitta. Kleftiko ....to die for!!! just melted. i had with potatoes and salad. Vegi moussaka and side salad was also chosen and very well received. The staff were polite, smiley and very efficient. I had defo food envy looking at some of the kebabs etc ,, so going back soon. Thank you Ela x

Excellent. Visited with friends after the makeover and it’s still amazing- but better! Very busy but this never detracts from the service and attentiveness of the staff. Great wine advice given, plenty of time to explain different dishes and what’s in them for allergy sufferers. Unfortunately Stifado wasn’t available but the Kleftico portion was so large I had it for lunch the following day too 🤣 Everyone had a starter and a main. No dips or shared starters but the portion size is large and delicious so all left feeling completely full. No room for dessert unfortunately- next time. Highly recommended

Paid a visit here after hearing of the refurbishment as we enjoyed it previously the restaurant is twice the size and the decor is lovely staff were very friendly and welcoming the food was excellent overall we had a wonderful experience and would highly recommend !

Don’t bother booking a specific table! As when you get there (dead on time) your table will have been given to someone else 😡 Generally food was okay and service was acceptable. One time visit I think!

I have been to Hellas twice in 10 days both times the food was delicious and great service. The restaurant was full and had a really good atmosphere. Will definitely be returning.

We have been here three times now over the last year and each has been an excellent experience. The recent revamp has made the restaurant seating area far bigger and smarter while still being cosy and inviting. We ordered the vegetarian Mezze for two on two visits (it just keeps on coming 🤤) and ordered a three course meal the other time. The best Greek food in Manchester of all the places we've been. Staff are really friendly without always being there, didn't feel rushed at all.

First time visitors after the new renovation, and we were really impressed. The interior of the restaurant is welcoming and fresh. Both the food and the service were great. We tried the selection of dips with pita bread to start. I had the garlic prawns with tomato & feta and my wife had the beef. It was excellent. We would highly recommend and will definitely be back.

The Greek food here is the best,its a great place to celebrate any occasion or just have a meal for to with Authentic Greek music Playing in the background.

We visited here for a birthday treat. We both had the mixed gyros and it was huge. I had to take half home. Another table also had too much food. It was hot and well presented. Lovely cosy place with background Greek music. When the member of staff realised it was my birthday I had a yummy slice of chocolate cake and candle which was very much appreciated. It made the occasion memorable. Thank you.

Fantastic food in a lovely restaurant. It's small, but from February 2024 to mid March they're renovating to increase capacity. We'll be revisiting when they reopen.

We called into Hellas Taverna on Friday 05.01.2024 and what a thoroughly enjoyable experience from start to finish A wonderful, friendly, Greek welcome from the lovely proprietor who worked her socks off taking orders, delivering food and generally keeping everyone happy with her wonderfully warm personality Nothing was rushed, just as it should be in Greece, and the food, when it arrived was piping hot and extremely tasty. After a couple of dips with copious amounts of pitta my wife enjoyed the Chicken Souvlaki and I had the absolutely gorgeous, melt in the mouth, Beef Stifado. We were absolutely stuffed after enjoying these courses but, of course, we found an extra corner to share a Baklava with ice cream, well it would be rude not to !! This is definitely a very authentic Greek restaurant, wonderful to hear Greek tunes on the sound system, the decor and atmosphere is spot on and the family who own/run the business are just lovely people We would absolutely recommend Hellas and will certainly be back again to try some more dishes
