Heddons Kitchen in Enfield

Absolutely shocked. Usually I will go to the Edmonton branch as I’m not in UK much. Thought I will visit along to the Cockfosters location. As you’ll probably expect in any nature, a good location, and the food service should be up to standards. I had ordered two breakfast meals. One the Shakespeare special and the other Shakespeare platter. These are 2 breakfast meals. I had roughly waited 40 minutes to have my food come. Along with the order I ordered 2 tea. The tea comes way before the food had touched our table. Which by the time we had our food, our tea was cold. Anyway thinking that our time awaited will bring us worthy food, shockingly both meals were served cold. This to any kind of business which presents a form of boutique lounge, should in the ideal business nature serve the customers with fantastic dine in experience and hot food, to which you want to eat and be paying for. Having called the manager/owner and approached them with what I had been experienced, they were not keen to come to any resolution on helping. This meant I had to pay for 2 breakfast meals which one plate had not been touched at all, apart from trying to taste a hot side of platter. And the other, likewise due to the cold meat served and cold dish which was terribly unpleasant. Please kindly review your hospitality services and improve on management. I will no longer as well be visiting the Edmonton branch either, to where I had no concerns.

One of the best places I’ve ever been to. An absolutely stunning design with lots of flowers and lights, comfortable seating outside with heaters, the nicest staff and the best cocktails. Thanks a lot for the best service guys, you’ve been taking care of me and my boyfriend very well for the whole week during our vacay and we really appreciate that. Keep doing that 🩵

Teas don't cost 5 cents, I don't like scented tea, tea with buds.

Only went for a take-out coffee, but had a great experience and will definitely be back. Coffee- 10/10. Had an oat cappuccino and it was foamy, creamy, with good amount of chocolate powder. Staff- Super polite and friendly staff. I was greeted by 3 staff members, had a waitor open the door for me when entering and leaving, and the gentleman working the register was chatty and cracking jokes while I waited for my coffee. It's the little things, but I felt like a princess the whole time I was there. Atmosphere- personally I liked it, but the lighting was quite dim and gave the place a bit of a club feeling. Ambience was cool for a date setting but less so for taking your mum out for a coffee.

I really want to like this place, but they are slightly over priced , and the continuous charge of service charge, even if you order a takeaway coffee, starts to take its toll on getting regular people. ...

Great food great and caring service

The French toast was so big it was hard to finish it! Cooked to perfection and generous with the berries unlike some places giving you 5 strawberry pieces. The halal break was ordered by my friend and she enjoyed every bit. She ordered and extra sausage but didn't need it as the portions are rather big! Lovely staff super friendly! Will definitely be going back.

Lovely food and service. We did wait a little while for the food to arrive however it was very busy with about 3 large groups so it was expected. The cocktails were very tasty also. I would definitely recommend a visit.

I booked this place to celebrate my daughter’s graduation from the medical school. We were about 30 people and all my guests loved the food, the service and the atmosphere of the restaurant. The owner was so helpful and did his absolute best to make the experience enjoyable The food portions are very large and the food quality was amazing Thank you so much to all the staff for the hospitality and the friendliness.

I recently vısıted sheakspear Cockfosters and had the pleasure of trying their pasta dish,and ur was absolutely amazing!the pasta was cooked to perfection al dente just way I lüle ıt.the sauce was just the right amount of seasoning.the portions sıze was generous.the dish was garnished wıth fresh herbs and sprinkle of parmesan cheese.and also ambiance was lovely staff friendly and helpful thanks to manager

I recently tried the chicken penne pasta at Shakespeare Bistro the creamy souce had a rich flavour blend of garlic and herbs complementing the dish beatifully make in it a good value for the price definitely order again the staff consistently checkt on us to ensure we had everything we needed without being intrusive.They were friendly,professional made us feel genuinely welcome thanks to manager Koksal and thanks for complimentry turkish tea

The venue and most of the staff that served us were fantastically attentive and great. We ordered the chicken wings, veggie and beef burgers and a chicken wrap, all of which were very good. However, DO NOT order any of their pasta dishes. They were the blandest things we’d ever tasted thay even salt and condiments couldn’t fix, and they cost more (even the arriabata) than a beef burger. When we tried to raise the issue of no taste with the manager, it seemed to fall on care-less ears, which was disappointing.

The restaurant is very quiet, it's not noisy even when it is fully booked with customers. The waiter was very attentive in taking my order, and he gave a few good recommendations from the menu. Portion sizes are really big and very fulfilling. The toilet is very clean and is decent in taking photos with good lighting. The seating arrangement was good with enough space between each customer sitting in a boot area. The meal arrived on time fleshly prepared nice and hot

I went in with my wife and we have waited for over 10 minutes to be served but the waiters were to busy having a chat between them we will never step foot in there again!

Shakespeare is definitely one of the best places to go for a warm atmosphere and an amazing service for . Always recommend this place to my loved ones and there nearly every week. Staff are top tier and manage to always be their best!!!

Saw this place on tiktok, thought I'd give it a go. First impressions, nice from the outside, nicer on the inside. They sat us by the toilet, didn't realise until 30min in... Had the bbq chicken wing starter and calamari. Shakespeare house burger, meat was cooked thoroughly, chips were underwhelming, coleslaw looked better than what it tasted. When the bill came, they slapped on an automatic service charge of £8.15 cheeky! Total score: 7/10.

This is more than just an "instagram" cafe. The food is great and the service is on point - backing up its modern and funky look. Style with substance. Worth a visit if your in the area - or even if you aren't 😉

Lovely brunch with friends. Good menu and service. Between us we had the smoked salmon and eggs, pasta dish with prawns and a goat's cheese salad. The place has a nice vibe to it. Free parking on nearby roads but in the parade it was £6 for two hours.

I left this review in October 2023 but it was removed, and I am not too happy and this is most unprofessional. I visited last week on Saturday 15th October. I felt the food was good, but the prices are so overcharged, they think they are in the West End this is Cockfosters. The service was poor, and not attentive. The atmosphere was not good , as there was a women walking around with a child all evening and I was able to see this. Then the child was handed to the guy who took our order, which was weird. I have no idea if this is the owner, because cannot workout who owns this place in Cockfosters, it was not professional. I wont visit this place again, and to charge such high prices. Also very limited choices, not many fish only three choices Salmon, Sea Bass or prawn, or vegetarian 3 options. In fact limited choices for an evening menu. I wont visit again or recommend as I live nearby. I was ready to walk out. Spent so much on the decor they lacked to make the menu better and at a better price or customer service and in fact removed some plates when still eating, no conversation was made no please or thank you. I expect better customer service all round, and I know about customer service and this did not happen. I agree the menu has nothing about, allergies, or gluten or wheat allergies, this is fact if you are running a restaurant you are supposed to put these facts on your menu, because someone can have a bad reaction you would be liable, and this is not good, because this should be displayed. I’ve been a regular customer of Shakespeares Edmonton brunch and they have disappointed me so much that I wasn’t expecting much from this place however I’m really surprised with the attention to detail.

6 of us booked a table at 1pm for Sunday lunch. First time there for all of us. When we arrived it was absolutely rammed and I expected the worst. How wrong can you be? We were looked after by Ismail who was absolutely brilliant – polite, friendly, efficient, got everything right first time and regularly returned (we were there just under 3 hours) to check everything was OK (which it was). He wouldn’t be out of place at a 5-star London hotel but then again he probably would given some of the morons we’ve been served by in the past. The food was simply delicious – very generous portions and reasonably priced. Considering the number of people dining, we didn’t have to wait for anything. Calamari, Chicken Caesar Salad, King Prawn Spaghetti, Grilled Terriyaki Salmon. So much so that we had no room for dessert. But our ‘Wow’ moment was when Koksal brought out 3 complimentary desserts. Never expected that! Apart from Ismail, we interacted with several other staff members who were also excellent. None of us live anywhere near Cockfosters but we all said without hesitation we would come back (and soon). Would thoroughly recommend Shakespeare. One small negative – the toilets are separate cubicles more like a disco than a WC (plus point) but in one of them, the toilet seat was wobbly (minus point). Knew we would get them on something!

Delicious! Went here for the first time today for breakfast/ brunch. It is £13.80 for a full English but it is great quality. Staff are so polite and really welcoming. Yum!

Went there for breakfast. There's a really good variety of food, especially with the "make your own" option. They also did really well with our gluten allergy (Celiac). It was clear our server knew what we were talking about and the severity of the condition, she knew what was in the food and how it's cooked so could advise us on what we can or cannot eat. They have gluten free bread and toasted it separately. We didn't get sick so seems like they really did take extra care with the food.

Food was very good. Staff were also very nice and friendly. Would definitely go back.

The waitress with the curly hair was extremely courteous and kind, as was the manager who brought us two complimentary teas to have with our baklava. Not sure if tips are split between all staff, but we left something to show our gratitude to both the lovely waitress mentioned and the manager.

I’ve been going to this restaurant for the past few months. It has great breakfast options. Today I ordered a steak and the meet didn’t have the consistency and smelled really bad. I didn’t touch the steak beyond one bite and handed the food back. Didn’t ask for anything apart from the bill. The waitress came and said why I hadn’t eaten my steak and I explained. She took it to the kitchen to be checked by manager and they said they had tasted it and it was alright! Not sure that’s the best method of customer care. Then she said I’m sorry I don’t have anyone to take it off your bill (I hadn’t asked for it to be deducted). It was an unpleasant experience and having been there over 20 times, this will be the last time as there are many other good restaurants on Cockfoster Road.

Me and my partner decided to try this place as we live locally and always seen its while walking past. Upon entering the ambience is lovely and relaxing. I ordered the salt beef sandwich which at £16+ was rather expensive but I ordered it expecting a grand portion. When it arrived I was so disappointed. It had one strip of salt beef, a tiny amount. Really disappointing. The sweet potato chips tasted great but I won’t be returning after the insult of what’s called a salt beef sandwich. I could have gone to the deli across the road, who do a stacked salt beef sandwich for half the price. The reviews are quite good which leads me to believe people are clueless.

Attentive staff and a delicious breakfast, very flexible with seating although we booked for the wrong time. Good location with parking.

Hedons - The food is good and the people are friendly....but we went with our 2 year old and 6 year old on three occasions and they really made us feel like the children aren’t welcome. Won’t be going back. After this changed hands from Heddons to Shakespeare it’s much better so I’m changing my rating to 4 Stars.

They where very patient as we couldn't decide and while waiting for us the make a decision they chatted with us and we didn't feel rushed. Now, let's talk about the food at "Shakespeare" - it was nothing short of amazing. I had Shakespeare full breakfast with extra halloumi cheese and an ice latte with a shot of caramel and my friend had a fully loaded omelette with salad, chips and extra sausage and a English tea. Another review that didn’t post. This place is an absolute gem replacing the forever popular and remembered bakery that was there before them. They took the name and certainly lived up to it. Enjoyed immensely every visit and I was in the same year as as the boss when at school.

I’m very disappointed to have to write this review, but I’m not sure what has happened with Heddons. It seems that it has changed management, and has gone downhill literally overnight. I wrote a review about this place a couple of years ago and gave it a 5 star rating. (See review history). It really was my favourite place of its kind in the area. Today our experience was so bad, we had to walk out. We were a group of 4 people, and placed our order with our waitress (who didn’t seem at all familiar with the menu). We received our drinks, which were were messed up (iced coffee, instead of black coffee, coke instead of Diet Coke, tea where the milk perhaps was off as there were white bits in the cup). Thereafter, two out of four meals arrived. We were then kept waiting….and waiting….and waiting. When we asked where the other two meals were, there was confusion!! Then the waitress approached us with a menu!!! Enough was enough! Clearly no other orders were being prepared. They were neither busy nor understaffed, just entirely incompetent. None of the staff seemed to have a clue! I don’t think we were alone in our dismay, we saw other tables walk out who were waiting to be served! So very sad to see a once thriving, buzzing eatery change so drastically. Whoever has taken over this place needs to sort it out quick, otherwise they’ll be out of business within the month.

Have been a regular at Heddons and always enjoyed the food and service. Came for lunch with my husband today and it was like a completely different place (subsequently discovered that it had just changed ownership) The waitress was very friendly. I ordered eggs Benedict and requested that the whites of the eggs weren’t runny. I was then served egg whites with no yolk so the waitress said they would make me some eggs. Another waiter came over and my husband asked for some cutlery to eat his food and the waiter asked him if he wanted a fork. He brought and fork and my husband had to ask for a knife too. Meanwhile I tried the ham and it tasted off so I sent it back. I poured my tea and there were black bits coming out. I checked in the tea pot and there was a teabag (not loose leaves as advertised on the menu) I asked the owner and she said the black bits were coming off the tea pot and offered me another cup of tea which I declined. I ordered the waffle instead as they didn’t have pancakes and it was supposed to come with berry compote, toasted walnuts, fresh Greek yoghurt, Greek honey and cinnamon. Instead I got one waffle with a few blueberries, Greek yogurt and a bottle of golden syrup. I was only charged half price for the waffle but was charged for the tea which I asked to be taken off. It was an awkward and uncomfortable lunch. I have never had to complain about so much, it was just embarrassing! We are locals but definitely won’t be returning. There are so many great cafes in Cockfosters.

Great time, delicious food, very helpful staff.

Went today for a quick breky instead of Middys or Miracles. It was better, more down to earth and the food could not be faulted.. a delish Hot Salt Beef sandwich and some french toast to follow. the wife also had a Heddon Coffee which was nice but should be a little bigger to be spot on. Not the usual type of thing I would eat for breky bu the wife made a great choice. Italian lady serving very smiley and Tattoo lady calling me darling (not sir etc) was a nice felt a bit retro and I like retro We shall be back and I promised tattoo lady a review so here it is.

What a lovely place. We went on a Sunday and it wasn't busy. The toasted banana bread is one of the best deserts I've had. Staff were friendly and nice. They made sure they took our empty plates away so our table doesn't get full. The place was also warm. I definitely recommend this cafe as it's special.

Fantastic food - great place for breakfast

Heddons is by far the best place to grab a delicious brunch in Cockfosters. Having tried other places, we always end up back there almost on a weekly basis! The owner and all the staff are always really welcoming, customer service is fantastic and the food is incredible - I’d highly recommend the Heddons Delight or for something sweet, any of the french toast options are amazing. Looking forward to my next visit.
