I visited the Heath recently while I was nearby. lovely beer garden with friendly staff the barmaid was there with a warm welcome and smile .although busy acknowledged us on arrival and poured a perfect pint just what I needed on a lovely day . Definitely go back thank you for a plesent visit see you soon.

I’ve been going to the heath for years and after a rocky spell with management Dave has come in and really picked the place up! The staff are so lovely and I think they’ve found a solid group of workers now! So sad to be leaving Cardiff and my favourite local pub :(

I came to do the quiz on Sunday with some friends and we were gassed to see a rascal burrito pop up. Of course we tried everything on the menu, really hope they continue doing pop ups like this. Pub really seems to be picking up and I’m proud to call it my local!

The heath has changed… and for the better! Been coming to the Heath for years to take part in Dan’s quiz on a Sunday and have always loved the atmosphere. (8pm on a Sunday) They now have curry from kiwis cafe served during the quiz and also have an folk band before the quiz… who are amazing! Live sport is always on and the beers are great, with a great selection available. The staff are friendly and the new landlord clearly cares about the direction of the pub bringing in so many amazing and positive changes that were much needed. Pool and darts next door as well as great outdoor seating mean it is a great place to be all hours of the day and for any occasion!

I was let go after working here 2 shifts. The manager knew very well I had just come to work straight off the back of a medical surgery. I was given my rota for the following week and two days before my shift, the manager called to very abruptly let me know that I had been cut due to not ‘picking up fast enough’. There are barely any customers at the Heath on a Saturday. It is not like there is anything to do other than wipe tables, pick up glasses and stand around - hence why most staff leave. I am friendly, a fast-learner and I believe an efficient worker — I was working to a high degree despite returning to work a week after a painful and difficult medical surgery. Instead of giving me even a notice period, the manager decided to just randomly fire me with no explanation until I practically begged for one. He did not have the time for me, rushing to get off the phone, and this greatly upset me and put me in a state of financial ruin. I have since contacted legal advice and ultimately decided against looking further into taking action - although a lot of managers and owners of establishments seem to think due to their employees being on a zero-hour contract, they can just let people go with zero warning and no explanation, and that’s not right, especially when you know someone has just had surgery, ultimately it is clear this case is just a manager with poor morals and abysmal communication. He lacks integrity and very only cares about what he wants for himself and his (failing) business. Let this be a warning to future people looking to work here. It’s a lovely establishment but the management are unfortunately rude, unorganised and unprofessional. Every customer who came in had a word of disappointment to say, particularly about the manager and his new decisions, and it’s fair to say that this is not the management that will change the Heath for good. Anyone can see that - plenty of reviews will show you that.

I ordered a spicy chicken sandwich and then waited 45 minutes for it!!!!! So I confronted the operator don dave and said he will give me a free sandwich and that turned out to be a knuckle sandwich!!!!!! As I laid on the ground so helpless the roaches in the back and came and lifted me up and threw me out!!!!! IM LIVID

Great local, with good priced beer and wine. Lovely outdoor space with plenty of room for family and friends to enjoy.

A great homely pub. Regularly attend with friends, particularly the sunday quiz night which is one of the best in Cardiff with a more competitive and practical edge to other pub quizzes I've been involved in. Staff are superb and great place to play pool & darts - would thoroughly recommend the Heath

The Heath Pub is an old-fashioned pub in the cathays area in Cardiff. It’s a classic pub with daily activities. Ambience: The pub is located by the road on a good spot beyond the crwys road, not very far from the University Hospital of Wales. The pub itself is a huge one - divided into 3 areas including an outdoor beer garden. One area is dedicated for the daily events and the other one for gaming and stuffs. The pub has an old- fashioned classic outlook, with classy wooden furniture and a fireplace. It also has a bunch of TVs installed at every corner where they screen sports every time something is on. Activities - - Sundays - Sunday roast for lunch, Dan’s Big Quiz at nights every week (hosted by Dan at 8:30 PM onwards every Sunday is probably one of the best pub quizzes in town, with price money at stake for the winners) - Open mic nights on Tuesdays - Karaoke on Wednesday nights - Games night on Thursdays Live music on Fridays & Saturdays They host these events amazingly well every week, and there are regular patrons who religiously attend them every week. Food: Heath Pub offers a good selection of alcohol, cocktails, craft beer including the Brains - bitter and gold. They also serve food and snacks. Service: The bartenders and friendly and fun, and service has always been quick in serving. They also love to chat with the customers and make the atmosphere look friendly. Drinks Menu options ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Service ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Decor ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Ambiance ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Value for money ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ My verdict: Not the liveliest pub around, but definitely has something in it to attract customers and glue them as regular patrons. Have rarely seen it being crowded except during the events at nights. Would recommend attending the events there.

Abysmal. Dreadful. Catastrophic! Do NOT recommend. Saw a rat in the pub. Never again returning.

These people need to learn how to run a pub. Got about 2 decent bar staff who aren’t rude, pub manager sits around getting drunk everyday, worked for two shifts in the kitchen and got taught how to make slop, and have not seen more than 5 customers in at a time. I can not express enough how you should not work there, or even go there in fact. Also, in an awful location, and the most expensive pints in cardiff I’ve seen so far. As I entered the pub, I was immediately smacked in the face by the lack of enthusiasm. The staff were rude and the place seems like it was designed to inspire misery. The food was subpar and one of the employees definitely has a dandruff issue as proven in my curry from last Saturday. Would not recommend coming here if you enjoy your life.

Would not recommend. Pints cost an arm and a leg, even had to remortgage to buy a warm carlsberg. Staff looked manically depressed. Didn’t try the food as it looked disgusting, but from what I’ve heard it’s on par with the slop in HMP cardiff. Everyone here keeps talking about the “atmosphere” but really it’s just annoying 20 year olds unknowingly wasting their prime years answering questions about the Triassic period for bragging rights. Will not be returning unless I can get drunk for less than 25% of my monthly rent and/or the management starts putting sertraline in the water.

Ridiculously overpriced pints. Old bar-lady looked miserable and was rude. New management is definitely putting this place down the drain. Tired, sorry state of a pub. Can only blame management.

Lovely pub with great atmosphere. Staff were really friendly, helpful and accommodating. We were visiting as part of a student charity fundraiser event and had a fantastic evening, so I would highly recommend this pub. The pub garden was also pleasantly busy so perfect for evening drinks!

I've been going here for years as my local, but not anymore. No longer selling food. Stopped the jam night, and to top it off, the new rude manager now decides that there is no smoking in the smoking area as he wants it to be a "family area." While he was sitting there drinking. The only thing that's not terrible is the bar staff, but it is not enough to outweigh the negatives will avoid in future

I'm from Swansea my name is Gloria i had a wonderful welcome from all the staff and made a few good friends whilst I was there the atmosphere was so welcoming like home from home the meals I had there to be fair was outstanding and didn't have to wait too long for service either the night life was great as someone that only just met people I felt as though I'd known the punters for years they made me feel welcomed and involved in all conversations even though I'd just met them had a great night dancing with everyone I've never felt so welcome in a pub as what I did at the Heath...child friendly and dog friendly just a quick hi to Angela 😃 OUTSTANDING PUB that makes all welcome keep up the good work I'll come back soon to see you all

We decided to pop in for Sunday lunch at peak time short notice as other pubs had been booked up. Upon arrival we were shocked to see that there was not a single soul having food here - a few were drinking in the front pub-part, whereas the restaurant was quiet. Although it was off-putting being as quiet as it was, the food was brilliant. Extremely tasty - no complaints there. Other than the quietness and an awfully carnival-sounding buzzer whenever the kitchen buzzes the front of house staff, it was a pleasant experience.

Very well priced pub food that is tasty. Friendly staff and reasonably priced drinks. 10% NHS discount too. Separate sports bar area with dart board and pool table.

Went for Sunday lunch,very tasty, had the beef which I recommend. The pub was virtually empty which is sad to see, but I suppose it is a sign of the times. The beer was good , well worth a visit . Thanks.

Quiet hotel, food not great but eatable.

Went to the Heath for a group Christmas meal, something we’d done in previous years with no issues. As a large group we were asked to pre-order as you’d expect, but even so it took 2 1/4 hours from the booking time for everyone to get their main meals. The last main arrived almost 40 minutes after the first. Not all of the starters even arrived so some people were starving. I had to leave after 2.5 hours so didn’t get a dessert. When the food did arrive it had clearly been blasted under a heat lamp and looked very sorry and wilted. This is also the first time in years I’ve had sprouts which have been boiled into oblivion. Service at the bar was glacial in addition to the food service. Atmosphere was ok, but the furniture was all very tired and uncomfortable. Very disappointed in what was once a very good pub.

Very big pub. Food was generally good, especially the vegetables, but the 'vegetable wellington' was very sweet as if too much cranberry sauce and the stuffingcwas a bit dry. Difficult to find parking nearby.

Poor pub steak experience. Bar staff asked if I wanted “medium rare steak”. That’s my preference, and I said yes. The rump I got was perhaps the most cooked steak I’ve ever seen. It is what it is. But when I was asked if I enjoyed it, I offered it was “pretty overcooked for medium rare”. The server replied “oh, no worries”. Not really what I’d hoped for at £17 for a main and pint of IPA

The food, the people, the service, everything was very mellow. The Sunday Roast, that we were specially looking forward to, was very dull. Not recommended.

The only thing colder than the UK weather was the food at The Heath. Oh no, wait, perhaps their service was colder. I don’t know it’s a tough competition. Would totally recommend it in the summer though!

Nice pub in the Heath area of Cardiff, the pub was quiet on a late Sunday afternoon. The lady serving was very helpful and friendly. The food was standard pub grub but was very tasty and good value for money. A good pub well worth a visit if you're in the area and need a good value meal.

Good open mic 🎤 with welcoming house band. Since reversing the decision to only have open 🎤 mic every fortnight instead of every week Tuesdays have gone from strength to strength. Well worth a visit to a real pub.

I had the veggie burger, it was so good! 🤤 the patty was homemade and fresh, the burger was loaded with nacho cheese, fantastic, and the staff was very lovely, thank you 🙏 🫶🥰

We were looking for a pub for a few of us to meet up and have a chat. This worked for us at the Heath. It was quiet and plenty of space to get seats. I'm not sure what it's like when students are back, but for now, it works for us

First time here today as I had a hospital appointment locally.. The Heath was highly recommended by the staff who frequently use it, so I thought I'd give it a try! What a charming pub!! Spotlessly clean and friendly staff.. The managers were really helpful with explaining gluten-free options, so I opted for the bbq cauliflower wing salad... wow! I didn't think it would be as nice as it was and the caramel latte was so lovely! Thank you for being so attentive, and although I don't come to Cardiff that often, I have definitely found a regular place for food and drink before heading home!!

Popped in for the first time with mum and had the best pint of guiness ever!! Weren't hungry until I saw my mums food so went for the less healthy burger option, a cowboy burger!! Amazing burger and the fries were great!! Loved the barman!! Sound guy!! Big clean pub and beer garden is a hidden gem!!
