Haven Ferry Cafe and Takeaway in Poole

A very enjoyable and good value breakfast, efficient service and dog friendly, we all look forward to returning in the near future.

Glad I popped into this cafe today for lunch. I was in Sandbanks for a nostalgic break - happy memories. The HFT was just the ticket. I chose a ham salad sandwich (made for me ‘on the spot’) and a a coffee. Sandwich excellent- fresh salad and tasty ham. The surprise was that the cafe was virtually empty - all the folk in and around the ferry seem to be missing somewhere very good.

Visited a couple of times whilst staying nearby. Prices were reasonable and food good value for money. Staff were efficient and friendly. Our party of 6 had a mixture of different types of baps and pancakes, and all were delicious. The Special Hot Chocolates were particularly nice. Would definitely visit again.

Best breakfast in Poole alway consistent with first class products. I’ve tried others in the area but not a patch on this cafe for a simple English breakfast .

Fabulous and friendly. We arrive just as they were closing up and they kindly made us coffees so that we could have for takeaway as we are waiting for the ferry. Many thanks. See you again.

Having been here for breakfast loads of times over the years the staff seemed to have changed and the service too Easter Saturday 2024 Arriving just after 830am we greeted the waitress outside with a friendly hello and where ignored, oh well maybe she didn’t hear me Order the food at the till for the three of us, the breakfast then comes out the kitchen super quick not even more than 5 mins Bacon was cold along with eggs, mushrooms warm, cold plate the rest not that good. My son had bacon and pancakes, which clearly came from a supermarket (pancakes) Waitress passed by a couple of times looking like she didn’t want to be there after a late night No one came to clear the table after we had finished or ask if the meal was ok nor did we see anyone on leaving I’m thinking is it under new ownership or are decent staff hard to come by these days?

We had a lovely lunch at this cafe. The food was delicious and fresh. The staff were polite and courteous. We would recommend.

We have passed by this cafe many times before when we have been in Sandbanks. Definitely our loss! We enjoyed perfectly cooked food from the very extensive menu. Very reasonably priced too. Great service and friendly staff. We will definitely drop by again when we are next in the area.

I stopped for a quick Bacon and egg roll today. They were full up and very busy. The Lady o. The till was very polite and attentive. After five minutes she came to my ṭable and said we are very sorry its a little busy and said the food might take a little longer, she smiled and offered me a magazine to read. The delicious bap then came just a few minutes later. Great service around and nice experience had.

Great little cafe near Sandbanks chain ferry and beach. Ideal while waiting for the bus/ ferry/ walking along the beach. Great value for simple food and they offer lovely fried egg or bacon baps and nice mugs of tea!

Wow! What a lovely cafe! A big menu with plenty of options. The food was fantastic and nothing it too much trouble. Perfect!

We always call in to the Haven Ferry Cafe on our visits down to Sandbanks and today was no exception we had an excellent all day breakfast which was ideal on a cold March day. The Cafe was full so that says it all.

This is an amazing place for breakfast, brunch, lunch or just a coffee. Friendly staff, dogs welcome. Due to reasons out of their control closed until end of December but worth a visit.

Loved this cafe. Simple food and so tasty. We both had full English and we couldn’t fault it. Will recommend to others and will be returning when we are next down to Sandbanks . Staff were friendly.

Stopped for a chicken burger, bacon bap and omelette with the family. Can definitely recommend. Prompt service and lovely food. Will return!

Stopped here for lunch whilst staying at a nearby hotel - staff were helpful - great selection on the menu.

Cafe has a limited menu but all food is cooked to order, and provides good quantity and quality, it's a pity closes at 4 pm

A really lovely Cafe, food was exceptional and reasonably priced, lady that served us was friendly and welcoming even though she was working alone our requests was welcomed with ease. Would highly recommend this Cafe.

We had breakfast/brunch most days whilst on holiday staying at Haven Court on Banks Road between 26/06 and 08/07 and really enjoyed food, lattes and service - we really recommend it - good also for people watching and for those queueing for chain link ferry...

Given that Brownsea Island is a national Trust property and the only cafe is controlled by the NT it makes sense to buy sandwiches or whatever before getting on the ferry.

Stopped here while waiting for the ferry. Friendly and quick service, good portions and value, seats inside and out and food also available to takeaway. Pasty and chips at £5 was good.

On New Year’s Day we walked along the beach at Sandbanks and down to the ferry.

We had a coffee and bun in here after a day on the beach, coffee was very good but cakes were rather limited and a bit stale tasting.

Nice little cafe not a lot more to say really if you are passing and need a snack or drink drop in...

Three young families on a day out to Brownsea...we were running early so popped in here for a coffee. Treated the kids to a bacon and egg sandwich and it was great. Coffee was fine apparently and staff seemed nice enough. Great find and would thoroughly recommend. On arrival our friends indulged too and no-one was disappointed.

Stopped for breakfast on a Saturday morning before heading over to Brownsea Island. Very pleasant staff, efficient service and good food in very generous portions for the price. All in all a good place and great sitting outside watching the world go by and across to Studland.

What a shame that this is the onpy place to get any food around this location. Rude young girl not gave any interest when I returned chips in polystyrene box which was burned through with polystyrene melted into chips! She was not happy that I requested new portion on a plate and just poured existing into tge plate. I requested brand new chips as was not going to eat the foam melted on them! She was looking at me as I am weird! Another member of staff there told her that she must have put them in the box too hot. When new portion arrived, she just showed it in front of me no word said even though I thank her very nicely.

Stopped by for lunch, omelette salad and chips, good food, good coffee, friendly staff, would have like to try cakes, they looked good, but was too full up, maybe next time.

We stopped for lunch today after a long beach walk and escaped the rain. We were not disappointed. My husband had a full English breakfast and I had omelette and salad followed by Dorset apple cake, coffee and hot chocolate. The staff were friendly, cleared and cleaned the tables quickly. The food was delicious and plentiful. The coffee was really good quality and cake very moist and fresh. It was great value, you won't find anything better value in Sandbanks! It's a traditional cafe, not posh or amazing decor, but has some interesting framed old photos of the locality on display. If you're not looking for anything fancy, but tasty great value food this is a great place. We will definitely be back after our next long Beach walk!

Whilst waiting for the Brownsea Ferry we took the English breakfast. Excellent. They cooked my bacon to perfection as I asked them to (overcooked for everybody else). The tea was spot on, and the service was fine. All at a reasonable price. Great cafe.

I had been across to Brownsea Island and I was waiting for my wife to join me so I decided to stop here for a cuppa.The people on the next table were tucking in to a cooked breakfast which looked good so I ordered one as well.The staff were friendly and the breakfast was cooked just how I like it.My wife arrived,saw what I was eating and promptly ordered the same.I would highly recommend this place-the staff are nice,the food is good and you can watch the comings and goings of this busy corner of Poole.

Popped in for breakfast one day. It's a busy place but lots of lovely tables, inside and out.

Avoid this cafe! I walked in and stood by the counter to get a drink and all 3 staff just ignored me and they continued to chat and laugh between themselves. When I asked if I could be served I was told by a man behind the counter that I could see that all the staff were busy! When I said I had been waiting a while he told me to go to another cafe! They obviously dont want custom so I would suggest the public dont give it to them!

This place serves the THE best whippy ice cream I have tasted since I was a kid! Stop off when you get the ferry.

I visited recently with my daughter and ordered the omelette and chips which was delicious. The cafe is very clean and we always receive a big welcome when we pop in even if it's just for a coffee on the run.

The coffee was lovely and it's very conveniently by the ferry port so can get a good coffee before heading to the island! There's not a lot of coffee outlets on the island itself so worth getting before the trip and something to eat too if hungry.

Popped in here after trip to Brownsea Island having taken ferry from and to Sandbanks, as based on past experience the cafe on Brownsea didn't have a wide range of choice or anything we fancied. Good service, nice food.

Today we visited for a late breakfast/brunch and ordered an omelette and scrambled eggs on toast with bacon and mushroom. Firstly the team behind the counter were so helpful and friendly. We took our seats and our coffees were delivered with a smile. It was hot and delicious and accompanied with a lovely biscuit. Before we knew it our food had arrived and the omelette looked amazing a really generous portion and tasted as good as it looked. The scrambled egg was piping hot and you could tell the bacon was top quality. We enjoyed every bit and we felt it was really good value for money. The coffee was so nice we decided to stay longer and have another. A lovely lady with amazing red hair came to clear and chatted for a while and I can only assume she is the Manageress. It makes such a difference when you are made to feel welcome and out chat with her finished off a perfect visit to this wonderful gem. We will certainly be back and recommend it. Breakfast was fantastic! As I am not a fan of hashbrowns, they let me swap for extra Bacon which was crispy and tasty! So welcoming and friendly too. Highly recommend! If in the area make sure to go! Thank you.

Stopped for a bite to eat, nice food served quickly. The place was nice and clean. We cycled so it was easy to leave the bikes as racks were near by.

Love this little cafe , great food,and plenty of it with a good price to match . The staff are all very efficient and friendly with it. I'm very fussy with my tea but can't fault it. my husband always says it's the best cup of coffee he's ever had when eating out. Always come here when in the area .

Visited this café 1.30.p.m. today 15th October, and purchased 2 coffees and 1 cake to takeaway. When attempting to cut the tart in half to share, it felt damp and had a "green bloom" on the icing, that's when we checked the date on the packaging and found it to be 26 days out of date!!!! Returned to the café with the tart, was offered another tart or a refund, chose the refund but received no apology at all.

Great menu options - the all day breakfast was yummy. Staff are very friendly and catering to all our needs. Defiantly coming here again and bringing the family. Parking is really nearby.

Was pleasantly surprised, food was quick and good value for money. So close to the beach so can get a take away and sit by the sea.

Sadly arrived at 3.40 on a Wednesday afternoon to buy hot drinks to be told "we are closing early as its been a dead day" They should close at 4pm which is still early for a cafe in holiday season.

We had toasties and jacket potatoes. The service was good and food nothing special, but perfectly acceptable for a small cafe for a basic lunch. the chilli potato was quite good, and toasties were tasty.

We recently found this cafe and have been a few times. It's dog friendly which is great for us as it means we can pop in for breakfast and coffee after walking along the beach. The food is really nice and sensibly priced. The staff can't do enough to help and are very welcoming.

We recently stopped off her with some friends was only popping in for a quick coffee ended up filling our faces! The staff here were very accommodating and friendly. The food and drink is not expensive at all, would of happily paid more considering the lovely location the cafe was located. The food was amazing despite some of us being fussy they catered for our needs and dished up some lovey grub!! Will defiantly be back, many thanks for looking after us all.

Dropped by here when going for a walk with some friends. The coffee and bacon baps were great, the service was good and fast, not rushed. Also the parking around the corner, at the hotel, was much cheaper than parking along the beach anywhere else.Will definitely be returning next time we come down for a walk.

Called in after crossing by ferry from Shell Bay to have a warm drink whilst waiting for a small boat to take us to Brownsea Island. The coffee and cake were good and the staff polite and helpful.

I stopped here for a coffee after a walk on the beach. It was busy with customers enjoying substantial cooked breakfasts. Coffee was good, service friendly and there was a selection of nice looking cakes. Good place for a coffee to go if you are waiting for the ferry immediately outside

We have been to Haven Ferry Cafe many times over the years, so knew it was a great spot for a pit-stop the other day. We had a long journey home and decided to grab a coffee and a bite to eat as there was a beautiful sunset over Sandbanks. Service was super and the food was top-notch as always!

I visited during July 16 early morning with my daughter and granddaughter. Very nice clean establishment with friendly accommodating staff. The food was freshly cooked to order, very tasty and good value for money. I will definitely visit again.

I have good memories of grabbing a bacon sandwich here and sitting by the ferry first thing in the morning on a warm summer's day. Pleased to see the café is still here and looking good.I decided to treat myself to a bacon butty and coffee for lunch, this time, indoors on a cold February day.Good service and good quality bacon too. On a cold wet January day, you don't expect a cafe to be open on the peninsula of sandbanks, my wife and I were out for a long walk and the idea was to make a U turn at Panorama road and stop at one of the Cafe's along Poole Quay on our way back, we saw that the Haven Ferry Cafe was open and went in, it was very popular, which is always a good sign. there was plenty of food options from breakfast, to jacket potatoes through to burgers and fish and chips. I had a Jacket potato and my wife had a toasted sandwich with chips. Both came with a lovely fresh salad. The food was served promptly by very polite staff and tasted wonderful, and the price was sensible as well, so whether you are out for a walk, popping down to waters edge in your car to chill and take in the view or going across the Ferry to Studland, be sure to stop in at the Haven Ferry Cafe, you'll be glad you did.

Delicious food cooked to perfection by warm and friendly staff. Lovely little cafe spotlessly clean and comfortable. My favourite spot for a breakfast. Love it !! :)

Just visited with hubby for a gingerbread latte and slice of butterscotch cake which was amazing!! Great prices and very clean and well presented inside. Staff very friendly. Great location too. Worth a visit.

Great little cage to visit after a walk on the beach or on the way to studland. Fab menu choice, cooked breakfast was lovely, hot and the bacon was lush. Really enjoyed the haven special hot chocolate which comes with cream and marshmallows. Dog friendly which is a great idea for dog owners. WillDefinitely be visiting again .

This cafe really does a great breakfast. What you would call a proper full English. All freashly cooked. Lovely coffee and great staff.

We went for a cake with my college, worked in the Haven. The cake is so delicious and huge! We had a lovely hour till the bus. I would reccommend it to everyone!

Always the place to stop at if crossing the ferry. Great place to refuel on fab coffee and quickly prepared snacks-all served with a smile!

Rainy Saturday so decided to stop for coffee and cake at the haven cafe. Service with a smile and the hot chocolate, hazelnut late and cake was great to.The girls who were working today were really friendly and smiley.Breakfast looked great to!

Nice place. We stopped to have chips before we got on the ferry. Prices are good for the area and the quality of the food is excellent . There is a good selection on offer as well as daily specials. The cafe is clean and the staff are really friendly.

Just ordered two teas and they charged us and gave us coffees. Very ungracious response and very unfriendly service, got our order wrong and didn't offer a refund we had to ask for it. Live locally and won't use again.
