I ordered a delivery because i have in the past heard good things about this chippy food was nothing more than OK chips had obviously been standing a while they were on the dark side fish batter was soggy even without vinega being put on it and when you see onion rings on a chippy menu at £4.20 I would expect them to be actual onions dipped in batter not the onion rings you can buy at tesco for just over a pound for a bag full......on the whole disappointed.

Absolutely disgusting..chips were ok..fish was tasteless and pie was mouldy and off. Definitely won't be returning. I'd rather eat my own foot.

Amazing little place, people running it are ever so friendly. And look at all the food I got for just under £10. Will definitely keep on coming back.

I recently came to Hartshill Chippy based on a recommendation from a friend and it certainly did not disappoint! I got the large Fish and Chips which was cooked perfectly, fresh to order and with an incredible batter which was both light and crispy. The family running the business are so friendly and welcoming. I don't normally leave reviews but their service, as well as the food, was something really special. Thank you very much! You can expect to see me again in the near future!

I live in Harts Hill, but my local is the Milehouse. Today, I thought I’d give you a try. I ordered Fish & Chips, and here’s the positive—they gave us a lot of chips, and they were okay. However, here’s what genuinely happened: I took a bite of the fish and immediately told my partner to try it. I said it tasted like it had been caught out of a pond, almost like eating old carpet (not the texture the taste). She tried it and made a yuck face. All I can say is that the chip shop used to be very good in 2017/2018, then it became just okay. Now, it’s less than okay. My advice: please, whatever it takes, improve the quality of the Fish & Chips. If you can match the quality of the Milehouse, I’m sure the trade and reputation will start to return.

Rubbish !! Your delivery dvr told me he couldn't deliver because I had given him the wrong name, which is the same one I have been using for the last 81 years. He then told me that I needed to put my house number in my address, because he hadnt got 13, well I am looking at tonights order on your page and all the necessary details are there and correct. Whilst all this unnecessary banter is going on, my meal is going cold !! He only agreed to let me have the food when I told him what he was delivering, Large fish, 4 fritters and medium peas, from hartshill chippy. The food was OKish, of the four fritters I ordered one was inedible, batter was rock hard as though it had been cooked previously, it was a totally different shape and colour to the others.

normally rated pretty decent, but last few have been so stale and horrible. the curry sauce is definitely something u can buy at heron foods. the fishcake is tasteless and dry the whole meal was just overpriced and unenjoyable didn't finish it. I'll enjoy jam on toast cheers

I used to love this chippy, I lived nearer so when we had spent all day at the Royal Stoke we fancied some chips and said we would go where we had always gone ! Now I don’t know if it’s changed hands but I had my usual piece of SFC and chips my chips were nearly all bits with no potato and my chicken was over cooked or cooked for a good while not that good the curry sauce was nice though. Now my other half always has a fish on some peas which she said was ok… however later on was so sick and all that you could see was what looked like bits of fish. So disappointed because I always rated this chippy and to say this was only 6 o'clock teatime why was mine so like end of shift ? I just wish I’d took pictures because like I say it used to be fab 😢

Decided to try this chip shop as the closest one to me on George St was appalling. The staff were very welcoming when I walked in. Shop looked clean and tidy. I walked the 10 mins home and it was all still warm. I got a large chips and buttered sausage and it all tasted really nice. As you would expect from a proper chip shop. Definitely be going back.

The food actually took nearly 2 hours to be delivered, I wasn’t on my dinner hour by the time it had arrived. I would like something to be done about this as it is an absolute joke!

The chips were horrible and taste funny the flitter didn't look nice so we had to throw away and the pie was dry

Had family visiting so pre ordered early for delivery at 6pm as it was a very large order for 16 of us. Delivery was 30 mins late but worth waiting for, nothing was missed from the order, food arrive hot & was really lovely. One of the best chippys around. Thankyou

This is my local chippy and like another chippy it's here to help people like me with craving desires for chips, love the place as the chips aren't overly expensive and the portions for the price just ace!

Terrible service- food was awful and not able to eat. Kebabs were So heavely spiced that ruined the dinner. Spent £30!for rubbish. Never ordering here again. Cannot believe we waited 1 1/2 hours! We are only down the road.

I used to order from here regularly until the prices went ridiculous! £4.50 for a regular chips lol. Large fish chips and peas delivered would cost ya £20. Ya could go out for a meal and a drink for cheaper. Seriously guys sort ya prices out!

Lovely hot food, particularly the fish which were really fresh.

I have ordered from here before and there’s never been any issues. The food has always been hot and, tasty and fresh, this order was cold on arrival. Chips were hard and tasteless.

Fantastic service .. friendly staff and super tasty fish & chips presented beautifully in ♻️ cardboard take out boxes and recycled ♻️ quality paper carryout bags 🛍 .. convenient for North Staffs Hospital (BLC HOLDERS WELCOME) would have no hesitation to highly recommend this take away .. telephone orders are taken too

Cannot fault the quality of the food , delivery was on time, arrived hot, what more can you ask for.

Unfortunately not great this time…. Was barely warm on arrival, and the burger was terrible, bread was soggy, lettuce brown and limp, and the actual burger tasted real cheap and nasty, couldn’t eat it awful….

Awful. Avoid at all cost. The cheese and onion fry’s are 2X the price of riverside and normally they are 2X the size. Tonight they were just 2X the price and half the taste and also smaller. Their small chips are also more expensive than riverside. And the same size as riverside cone. Oh. And also totally tasteless. Nothing like the chippy of old.

The lateness was nothing to do with the chippy it was down to just eats not been able to assign a driver. The food from this place though is lovely. I always have one of Thier kebabs and they never faulter really fresh and tasty. They didn't have any Fanta lemon which I ordered so as a gesture of kindness they put two Fanta orange in the bag with a little note. I thought that was a lovely touch. Anyway we enjoyed our lunch and will no doubt be ordering again soon.

We were kissing two items from the order when it arrived. I called them and they said they couldn’t send it out and we had to call the just eat call centre!!!!! Not really any good when you are trying to eat your meal there and then!!!

Very disappointed. Paid £9.20 for a large fish and £5.50 for large chips to share. The portions were tiny. The fish looked like it had been cut in half and was not much longer than one of the chips. The chips were smaller than the regular portion I had last time I was there. Paid over £20 with a small curry sauce and small peas and portions were so small and not good value for money at all.

The smallest portions ever, poor value for money, I thought it was a joke or a children's meal Chips £5.30 not enough for one small child, Kebab so small I was looking for the rest in the bag incase it had fallen out

I was very disappointed with my fish. the batter was soggy and stuck to the paper.. soggy batter means the cooking temperature is not high enough.....not nice
