Can't wait to visit the cafe and have a english breakfast, ordered chicken sweetcorn and salad baguette was so fresh and jam packed 😋 sausage rolls are yummy and my son loved the egg mayo wrap, best cafe I've tried in cambs in a long time, forget subway or Greggs! A family run cafe with handmade fresh foods and cakes is a winner! Packed with love, not rushed and packaged sensibly with foil and cling film - thanks for putting love into your food because alot of cafes don't do this.

Small cafe with a lot of vegan and vegetarian options of pastries and sandwiches (many meaty options too) Food is great! I had a mushroom arancini. Friendly staff. Good price for Cambridge.

My wife and I pop in here occasionally, usually for a ‘brunch’ sandwich and a coffee. This is the sort of place that is sadly lacking these days.There is an extensive choice of hot and cold food, snacks cakes and drinks. We have been in here with different staff serving and they have always been very cheerful and pleasant to everyone that comes in. We have both found the food very nice and fresh and very cheap price wise-usually there’s too much for us to manage. Our number one go to place.

Excellent food, huge selection across all sandwiches, pastries, cakes, hot and cold drinks as well as ice cream. Really friendly and efficient staff, I wish this place was near my work!

Fantastic local, family-run cafe/bakery. It has a great selection of freshly made savoury and sweet foods, at a reasonable price. The staff are lovely. Definitely recommend trying it out for lunch. It’s a real gem.

First time in there after my son had been a few weeks ago. Surprised by how much choice there was. Everything looked and tasted very good quality. The staff are friendly and offer helpful advice. Very popular place which is great to see as a local.

Just what you need! Perfect weekday lunch spot. Warm and friendly service from a couple of lovely ladies working very hard to get you your sarnie quick. Fairly and reasonably priced and bloody delicious too.

Owner is the so rude very bad attitude and thinks she's above everyone else she needs to go on a customer service course thats twice now she has been rude when I asked a question and the breakfast was the worst I've ever had it was cheap low quality food and it's also unclean

For years I have been going here. It’s never changed or let me down. The warm friendly service has always been consistent, the food has always been five star amazing. You won’t be disappointed. It’s a must to try the cakey flaky’s (just saying) yummy. And if you’re coffee lover like myself, I would go as far as saying this is the best coffee around the…..UK. Deeeeelicious. 5*

Top notch sandwiches with fresh and varied fillings

First time visiting yesterday, busy little cafe which is always a good sign....ordered a breakfast baguette and southern fried chicken and salad baguette. Made with care and absolutely delicious, the staff are lovely too!! Definitely worth a visit....

Love the food from here never really give 5's. Fantastic selection of rolls, sweet and savoury pastries, cakes and breakfast. Offer a good veggie and vegan choice as well. Highly recommend a visit but go early as lunchtime can be busy.

Great place for a great brekkie. Seems to be about the only place ìn the vicinity serving breakfast at breakfast time. And it's a good one! Have they collared the market? They should! They also have a fantastic selection of sandwiches, baguettes, etc, savouries (samosas, sausage rolls, pasties, etc) and a large array of cakes (for consumption later in the day, of course). Worth a visit.

I've been here a few times now for breakfast and lunch. I absolutely love the cappuccino! It actually tastes how it does in Italy 😍 everything is super fresh, from the baguettes to the pastries and cakes!! The chocolate truffle brownie is out of this world!! Very good value for money, I highly recommend a visit!

Stopped for a takeaway egg and bacon bap. Nothing freshly cooked. Reheated, rubbery bacon and hard egg (obviously also cooked previously) in a cheap bun. Vile! Chucked in bin after a mouthful. Tasteless flapjack accompanied. Won't return.

Great food selection but at the moment I am avoiding it as they don’t enforce mask wearing. Lots of builders use the cafe and some seem to resist mask wearing. Most times that I’ve recently popped down I’ve turned around before entering as there is a man inside without a mask and no attempt has been made to enforce the rules. So they win some customers, lose others by being so lax, and they have lost me for now.

Good food good prices and staff always friendly

I go to Harpurs regularly for lunch and it is hands down the best and most delicious food I’ve had in a Cambridge cafe!

My wife and I got a loyalty card each about two years ago. We have popped back in from time to time ever since because we liked the food. We deliberately did not use one loyalty card when it was full because we wanted to use both loyalty cards together. We were very excited today because finally both our loyalty cards were full, we’d been having a very difficult few days with our daughter in the hospital and we thought we would treat ourselves to a free breakfast bap, that we had earned over two years of being loyal customers. I went over there, and the woman who owned the place said that I could not use both loyalty cards at once. She was very hostile from the get-go. I explained that the two cards were for two breakfast baps, so I should be able to use both loyalty cards. She begrudgingly agreed but said I would have to pay an extra £1.50 per bap. I told her that I thought that kind of sucked and she flew right off the handle. She started having a massive go at me in the middle of the café. I told her that whilst I did not like it, I would just pay the fee and be on my way, as I did not want to argue. She was not having any of it, and called me out for being rude, using the specific term “sucked” to describe her loyalty card system. I conceded the point and apologised for using the word “sucked”. However, I stuck my ground and said that I did not think her loyalty card system was very good because it had provisos attached to it. At this point all she had to say was, “Well sorry you feel that way, but that is how I run my business” and left it there. If she had said that to me, what could I have really said in return? However, she really wanted to argue. I again said that I did not want to argue but she was not having any of it. She started going on and on and on about fillings. “Breakfast baps have extra fillings. It is not fair because of the extra fillings. Fillings, fillings, fillings!” Why do I care about fillings? I am not counting fillings when I come in to buy food, all I want is food. Unfortunately, I did allow myself to get drawn into the argument, which was my fault. I called her out on her hypocrisy, that if I had been rude to her, she was now being rude to me and she should stop, but she was not prepared to accept that. In the end one of her employees had to literally come between us to end the argument. She did come out when the food was ready and thanked me for my loyalty, which was nice. I suggested we end our conversation amicably and she agreed to this. However, Harpers has definitely now lost two customers. I know it is no skin off their nose as neither my wife nor I were frequent customers, but still it is kind of sad. It is a shame really because I remember that lady being really nice to us when she first gave us the loyalty cards and it was a really good vibe in that café. Times change, I guess. Ultimately, I do not care overly much about an extra £1.50 per bap, although I still do not think it is good to have those type of provisos in a loyalty system. What I am not prepared to accept is being argued with like that in the middle of the café. Both my wife and I did enjoy getting Harpers food and we had both recommended the café to other people as well. Obviously now neither my wife or I will be going back and the recommendations that we used to give will turn into us telling this story. However, it was a nice breakfast bap to end our two-year run on, so there is a positive 👍

Cheap sausages never make good sandwiches so I was disappointed.

The selection is incredible and their specials are amazing. Especially the Mexican chicken, red onion, cheese and jalapeno toasted wrap.

In my opinion, the best sandwich, panini, baguette, roll & service in cambrige.

The food is brilliant and is in expensive and in my opinion the coffee is far better than most of the big chain brands. When ever I go in I'm welcomed with a warm smile and a pleasant attitude like seeing a seeing a good friend I havnt seen in a while. They also like to get involved in donating to charity which as a massive plus.I work not far from here and send all my customers there while they wait for there repairs and they always come back thanking me. Thank you guys keep up the good work.

Love this place. Don't live locally anymore, used to go most days on way to or from work. Now I pop in whenever I get the chance. Great selection of fillings for sandwiches and baguettes. Great ice cream amd cakes. Can't comment on the coffee as I am afraid I don't do coffee. But if you are nearby or passing by I highly reccomend.

I have now been to Harpur's Café three times in the past three months. There is a very good choice of sandwiches and cakes. I have had a baguette, a cake and a cooked breakfast on these occasions. The food is okay. The service can be friendly, but I also had the unpleasant experience being told in a gruff, unfriendly manner that the kitchen was closed at 14:00 when I was merely studying the cooked options. I have since observed that the staff can be very friendly. The cafe is conveniently located close to Hills Road. It has a functional, matter of fact atmosphere. It is not exactly inviting you to sit down. If you should wish to sit down, you will need all your strength to move the extremely heavy and clunky (rustic) wooden chairs away from the table. I personally would gladly swap some of the extensive choice for more originality and atmosphere.

In a world increasing saturated by multinational coffee shops it’s a rare & genuine treat to find an authentic family-run business of this type. With gorgeous Emily at the hub, keeping an efficient eye on her dad ( who can be known to talk football!), food is fresh, delicious & well presented. Our coffee, baguette & Bakewell were the best we’ve had in Cambridge - Thank-you Martina. The atmosphere is fun & welcoming with a lovely vibrant energy, spotlessly clean & comfortable. There is a wide range of food to choose from including vegetarian & vegan. I can’t wait to try their famed Italian gelato when we visit Cambridge again in the Summer!

Worst customer service I've ever experienced. As we were being served immediately the lady said that we "obviously not eating inside" as I had brought my own sandwich (my brother was ordering food). She was rude, impolite and incredibly condescending. She then said "that's the same in all shops don't you know that?" We were then served a cold baguette and told to take it away. Would not recommend until she's left the cafe.

One of the employees was very aggressive. Have been a loyal customer for past 4 months and got kicked out today for nothing. Food is average and would not visit again since there are over 20 food places in 500m range. Would not recommend

I have been coming here for lunch most days for over a year and a half now and it never gets old. The food is fresh and delicious and the owner Emily is now one of my favourite people! She's so funny and thoughtful and super welcoming. I love going in for a chat and the best jacket potatoes ever. Best cafe ever!

Fabulous service and food! Oh my god the home-made scotch egg is absolutely delicious, worth every penny. Also, love the gelato selections, can not resist the temptation to try all different flavours of gelato every lunch break throughout the week.

Harpur's used to be called the Bun Shop until Emily took over so ignore previous reviews. It now has a really friendly service, good food and lovely fresh coffee. My favourite is the toasted wrap, not really in to the sticky buns but other people obviously are. The fillings for the wraps, baguettes and sandwiches are very generous and there's a good selection too.

Really poor, shame as it looks OK from the outside. Service was very sullen and couldn't be bothered attitude, food wasn't fresh, and coffee was tasteless. Avoid.
