Pricey, poor service, the girls behind the counter think you cant hear their conversation 😂 Theres better places to go to nearby, not recommended. The 'large' fish are average at best.

The fish & chips was delicious, so glad we only had a standard meal because it was a big bit of fish & plenty of chips, staff were very friendly, will definitely come here for food again when next here

Had the best milkshakes ever here! Really nice people, the guy who served me said he hand dived the milk, not really sure what that meant tbh but he sure knew how to shake milk!

The fish & chips were OK, a little dark & overcooked, but tasted better than they looked. Standard fish is smaller than expected. The young man serving was cheerful & helpful, however the two young girls serving alongside him were sullen, no customer facing skills at all. The vibes from them were, 'We don't like what we're doing & we don't want to be here'.

Very good haddock and chips. Chips hand cut fresh every day, the haddock was cooked to order, so a bit of a wait, but worth it. Really good, worth a visit, and I would return.

Fish and chips were cooked fresh so a good start. We sat and opened the paper and I was shocked at the portion size. Unless our normal cod portion is huge, the portion size was so small. Cod was very small, almost like a normal cod had been cut into 4 portions and the chips were very bity and not many of them. The price for two x cod and chips was £21.00 so not impressed with value for money at all. We also had a latte each but when drank, it was awful. This sounds like a moany old person but no, just someone giving a heads up and if you go here, check out the size of cod portion before you part with your hard earned cash.

Best fish and chips in west bay! We came during dinner time and although there was a long waited queue it was worth it! The lady at the till served us with a smile and took her time to listen to what we wanted and made sure everything was correct considering how hectic they were! There was only 3 ladies and they handled everything perfectly and communicated well. The chips were cut fresh and the fish was light and crispy. Would be delighted to eat here again!

We came here as the local chip shop was closed Mondays BUT wow ! It was cheaper but that was so much better ! I would eat here over any other chip shop in west bay ! Excellent food !!!

Absolutely the best fish and chip places in Dorset. We go every year lovely little family run business this year. They had a new menu and the salt and pepper squid 🦑 tempura. prawns was absolutely delightful followed by a lovely ice cream. We do go every year as a family. We stumbled across the fish bar & there was a long queue, so we waited & was really pleased we did has the fish & chips were delicious, the staff were really friendly & made us feel like they had known us for ages, the fish & chips were very filling but we did manage to have a lovely ice cream afterwards, we thought this place was great value for how money & will definitely going back when we next visit

Bloody gorgeous ! Food was cooked fresh and in front of you. Even when they are flat out busy the fish and chips come out piping hot and as tasty as ever. We got talking to one of the staff called Sonya. She was amazing! Just watching her do 4 things at once was interesting enough but she also took time to ask us about our holiday and how our week had been. So not only is the food 10/10, but so are the staff!

Worst food of our holiday. Overcooked, greasy and tasteless. The fish cakes were awful and the chips looked like yesterday’s leftovers. We really wished we hadn’t eaten any of it - we should have just thrown it away when we opened the packages back at our apartment and saw the contents! So disappointing.

Absolutely beautiful food. All cooked fresh to order, staff were extremely friendly and inviting. They do kids meals which are served in buckets, which I think is an amazing idea. They also have a young man working in there with curly hair, he paid attention to detail and really took care of our order and made sure we was looked after our whole time. Impromptu trip to the seaside for tea, decided to give a different kiosk a try .. ‍♀️ what a mistake! After ordering and waiting for our food we are called over to collect our order. All we can hear is the lady shouting and arguing with the poor lad who was working with her, Even my children noticed. After walking to the seafront to eat our food and half way through my dinner I find a piece of metal scourer in with my chips. That’s my appetite lost! On the plus side, my children and partner enjoyed their food, but with so many lovely places to eat we certainly won’t be going back.

stopped off here for a hot dog but we weren't overly impressed with what we got. No hot dog sausage just a normal breakfast sausage in a bun and only a small one at that. The onions that came with it were raw and uncooked. Not one of the best! Sorry Harbour View. Popped into west bay today for a short walk around the pier and some fishing , we decided to eat at the little eatery area by the little harbour , harbour lights was by far the busiest fish stall with all the team working effortlessly behind the scenes , amazing customer service with food to follow , and they even supplied me a wedge of lemon on request ! , 100% recommended if you are to visit west bay , please do take the time to try the food !

I have walked past this place and seen a big queue every time, so I can’t really see why the average rating is only three stars. The batter on my haddock was light and crispy, not soggy or greasy at all. The chips were tasty, and had a crispy outside and fluffy inside. I would definitely be a regular customer if I lived in West Bay!

A superb service offered by two lively ladies. Ordered two portions of chips and one of calamari - (all shared between a family of four). Both came out super delicious and fresh. Portions were of a super decent sizes and service was fast and friendly. Would highly recommend to anyone looking for a quick delicious bite to eat but above all else someone who prides in supporting a family run business.

LOVELY FISH AND CHIPS , no problems with the social distancing that some are moaning at , at end of the day it’s up to the individual to keep your own distance , only problem we had was the food shack next door , the way they started shouting to get away from their barriers is unreal , VERY RUDE !!!! We have had lovely food from several kiosks in West bay, but harbour lights was the worst ever, greasy fish awful chips, scampi like lumps of lead and beef burger swimming in grease. No social distancing, salt vinegar help yourself, ( I don’t think so) and a jug of milk to help yourself if you buy a hot drink, obviously not thinking of COVID-19 AVOID LIKE THE PLAGUE

Previously marked this as the best chippie in town. But that was last year - first visit this year I couldn't believe it was the same place - won't go into detail as others already have but suffice to say I won't be going back. Far too often tourist areas serve up poor quality at exhorbitent prices knowing that the person they are serving is on holiday and won't be coming back anyway.count me in that number.

£35 for a family of 4 and the batter on the fish was soggy and really greasy. The chips were average, id said your paying for the location not the quality of food.

Love the food here. Hardest part is choosing what you want from your fantastic menu!! Chips are not frozen chips which I love! Lovely tasty fish and great portion size! Childrens sausage and chips are great value for money and my little one loved that it came in a bucket and spade and a free drink! Thank you harbour lights for great food to end our great day out. And not forgetting our ice cream. So many flavours to choose from. Our favourite place to eat when we come to west bay. We will be back.

Have visited a few times now and it has become my favourite place for food down West Bay. Can’t go wrong with the menu, by far the biggest selection of food in the area. I like to try something different every time but the fish and chips are my favourite, the batter is golden and crispy and the chips are hand cut by the owners which makes all the difference, loads better than frozen! It does get busy and almost every time I’ve visited there’s a queue, but the food is cooked fresh to order so it’s well worth the wait! Looking forward to coming back again and again

Well we were a little sceptical to use this food bar after reading some bad reviews but I’m glad we did . The only place in west bay that does proper chips and they were very delicious too , never have i had trouble deciding from a huge menu , ended up with fish and chips and the wife had cheesy chips and curry sauce , kids loved their food as it came in a bucket with a choice of drink . I must say with all the reviews saying extortionate prices , well I disagree as we payed more a few nights before in Weymouth in the sea front . We as a family all enjoyed what we had and we also commentated in the Covid 19 restrictions that was in place . Did find it a little difficult hearing behind the screen they have in place but I can’t fault it , well done and we will be back soon

We’ve visited Harbour Lights twice in recent weeks since they’ve reopened after the lockdown, both times around lunchtime.On each occasion it was a genuine treat, beautifully cooked cod in a crispy batter. I’m not a huge chip fan but what I ate was delicious and my husband demolished his own and what was left of mine!! The price was reflective of what I would expect to pay and their seaside position. Yes social distancing can be an issue wherever you go at the moment but on our visits it seemed well managed and adhered to..Would recommend.

Vile fish and chips, was very disappointed. Chips were cold and terribly dark which didn’t make them appealing. The fish were edible but had burnt bits from the fryer - again not very appealing. No curry sauce / no mushy peas available - had a poxy pot of gravy for £1.30 which was disgusting too. Definitely will not be returning.

I always love visiting West Bay and have done for many years. It was a great stopping off point for breakfast, tea, supper, whichever time of day I got back from fishing the Chesil Beach (I used to most weekends back in the1980s and 1990s). It is still great to go back there to visit though with its local shops and independent fast food huts, it is a delightful place.The Harbour Lights Fish Bar has been a local fixture since I've been visiting and shares its name with the TV series based in the town. The food is always very good. It is simple fare, but that is all a hungry traveller requires. Prices are very reasonable and even cheaper than some places in Bristol where I drive from. Their close proximity to the beach and the pier make it a popular venue. Well worth a visit
