Do have a meal here! We read about this cafe on Tripadvisor and we’re not disappointed. W3 ate breakfast there twice and couldn’t fault anything, the food quality was great and the quantity certainly didn’t leave us hungry. All the staff were so friendly and the cafe was immaculate, I just wish it was nearer to home so we could go more often!

We discovered this gem by accident having parked our car nearby. The plan was to pick up some fish and chips but the queue at the chippy was too long so we popped in here. They had a Sunday lunch menu on offer, 3 courses for £12.95, with a choice of 3 roasts. At that price I didn't have very high expectations. I have never been so wrong! We enjoyed one of the best Sunday roasts I've ever had (sorry mum). If you enjoy the top quality home cooking it's a must visit.

Arrived for a 6.30 reservation (the only one we could have before 9pm) with one extra guest for a table for three. We were made to wait for some time while the maitre d', who did not seem that pleased to see us, wandered off leaving us stranded at reception for some time whilst other guests, obviously more important guests streamed past us to their seats. Eventually a table was found and we were seated, once our order was placed the service went down hill fast. Any attempts to get the attention of the waiting staff was futile. The only attention we received was endless questions about how our meal was but when we needed anything, bread, for example, or wine it took some time to gain the attention of the staff and then even longer to actually receive what we had asked for. A request for mayonnaise for the chips was never fulfilled and there was a clear feeling that our requests for service were wholly unreasonable. The only exceptions to this appalling service were one waiter and the restaurant manager who were polite, if inaccessible, for much of the evening. The food was perfectly fine but nowhere near the standard we had hoped for having eaten regularly at The Jetty and The Harbour Hotel in Southampton and the bill was enormous in relation to the quality and quantity of the food. It is the first place I have ever eaten where I was tempted to take service off the bill. Also, curiously, the restaurant was never anywhere near capacity despite the lack of available slots to book tables for that evening. Overall the evening represented terrible value for money which is such a waste of an incredible venue in a spectacular location.

We have just been back to this little cafe that we came across by accident last year. I had the Cullen skink and it was so good I promised myself I would go back. Today we went back and had it again. It was as good as last time and just how I remembered it. Totally homemade thick and creamy with warm buttered baguette. It is worth making a detour to stop off at this cafe and have a look around the pretty little harbour.

Booked a table for 8.30 went and spoke to waiter he said he would come and get us when ready! nobody came! felt like we had been forgotten about, there was quite a few tables empty so could not see why we could of been seated earlier. I had to approach the waiter again then we finally got seated at a different table we had booked and people had been seated before us that turned up after we did! Once seated the sevice was very good, but one of our starter turned up cold had to send it back but it did come back fresh plate and hot mains were very nice. Was just a shame the start of the night ended up spoiling what we hoped to be a lovely evening.

I went to HH for afternoon tea for a friends birthday. Having phoned the week before to confirm I was vegetarian, I reminded the staff again as we ordered our teas. A waiter then questioned "if I'd told anyone" as the chef had nothing prepared in the kitchen so it may take longer. I assured him I had phoned to confirm this but felt quite taken aback since being vegetarian is not a disease and shouldn't be too challenging for a chef! When the tea came out, the waiter could not tell me which sandwiches were vegetarian so the entire tea was removed again whilst I was asked once more "if I'd told anyone!". Finally it was given back but nothing was described from the tea, which was a shame as we'd have liked to have known what we were eating and also there was no choice of different teas to drink which was a shame. I left feeling pretty embarrassed.

We thought that as we were in a harbour and on the sea front, the fish dishes would have been caught fresh that day and not something that resembled that from out of a bag.ie kippers for breakfast and the sole & crab for a main course all out of a bag from frozen. In addition, it was a shame that we were asked by the head waiter to take our deserts in the lounge. We could see the reason for this was that they were setting the tables for breakfast next day, but it wasn't late, and we felt that we were being pressurised to leave the table, so we did take our coffees and our Champagne that we had not finished into the lounge. The chairs in the bar area are grubby on the seat backs and there are cigarette and cigar butts all over the decking outside left unswept, for the two days that we stayed. Room was very clean but the carpet worn and filthy. When we checked out, normally you are asked how your stay was, unfortunately, the gentleman who checked us out was not at all interested, which was a shame because the young lady that checked us in was really nice and polite. We didn't go there to find fault with the place, but you could not help notice the things as mentioned. In The Jetty restaurant on our second night, my husband had Oysters to start with, but our main meals were both really disappointing, both fish dishes looked like they were pre bagged from the frozen fish section of the local supermarket and not freshly cooked on the night. Really expensive for something that had no taste at all and did resemble anything like that of a flat fish at all. And to top it all the General Manager that we spoke to about it, had such a poor attitude, very abrupt, defensive with no communication or people skills whatsoever. With our evening ruined, a half bottle of wine left not drunk, we wanted to leave , we had to pay just short of £100 for the privilege of a really bad meal and night. We certainly would not recommend our friends to visit here.

Came to the harbour hotel for afternoon tea for my mums birthday, had a lovely feel as soon as you walked in and was made to feel welcome. The atmosphere was slightly ruined due to other diners complaining with an issue with there voucher which I felt could have been handled better by staff and could have rectified the issue in private as we were sat directly next to the table so put a dampener on our experience. Afternoon tea was lovely though and hopefully upon future return there will be a better atmosphere and no complaints

We enjoyed an excellent Sunday lunch. There was plenty of choice on the menu, but while we all enjoyed different starters, we all chose the Steak and Kidney pudding for our main course. We visited for afternoon tea for my friends big birthday. They did a lovely happy birthday choc writing as all the hotels do. The food was nice, between us we found sandwiches we liked and it was nicely presented and the cream tea was good, not the best scones I have had but nice all the same, as were the cakes (fresh cream éclairs would be better than choc cream filled). We had a big pot of tea between us but were not offered any more tea, we asked for a refill and got a pot of water but with only 2 teabags in the big pot anyway there was no tea left in the bags. So overall a lovely afternoon, but maybe an offer of more tea half way through would be good. Would recommend it to others, the views of course are amazing.

Unfortunately my wife has a garlic intolerance, and instead of getting CHICKEN TRUFFLE AND MUSHROOMS, which is Breast of Chicken, Served on Spinach With Truffle Macaroni and Creamed Mushroom Sauce. Sounds good doesn't it, ask them to take the garlic out, and you get chicken and chips with a side of macaroni cheese. We of course complained to the manager, but the result was, he asked us to come back the next night, and let them try again to get it right. No fear we went to the Jetty, now that was perfect and did everything right, although owned by the same company, the food and service was the complete opposite of the upper deck.

The Maitre D (from Malaga) welcomed us as though we were very loyal repeat customers - engaged us in conversation and spent time with us. I mention this as the place was packed to over flowing, but he still managed to make us feel that we were the only ones in the room. He arranged a special window table and had us escorted there. Our wine order was delivered speedily and we were able to linger over the decision as to what to eat at our leisure. We had two lovely evenings in the restraint while staying in the hotel. The food was excellent - the menu reassuringly simple and very well cooked. The atmosphere was very warm and the service exemplary. My only criticism was that we had children with us and there was no offer of a smaller meal for juniors on the menu. I am not asking for a children's menu with chicken nuggets on, as I believe children should eat as their parents do, but there was no option here but to pay full price for a main for them, or share my own, which I did not want to do! A couple of simple options such as a small portion of meat in a simple sauce with chips or potatoes and veg would have made all the difference.

We came to the Christchurch Harbour Spa for Sunday lunch last week. We both had the set menu of three courses. I was impressed with the scallop starter, so the meal got off to a good start. However, the main (roast beef) was lukewarm at best with the most measly thin coating of gravy I have ever seen. The food itself was OK - nothing spectacular - but the fact that I had to ask three times for extra gravy (which came out thin and uninspiring) and the fact that the meal itself was almost cold when it arrived was very disappointing. The pear charlotte dessert was, like the starter, good but came with a strange stale bit of cake/wafer on top which added nothing. Overall I would say the hotel clearly does good food as evidenced by the starter and dessert but they give little care or attention to the main event on a Sunday - something I have found almost everywhere that I have been for a Sunday roast, it seems to be seen as an "easy" option to get right and as a result people are lazy with it. Because of this I would not recommend the hotel to anyone for Sunday lunch but I might recommend it for dining at other times.

Food is here great. I don't understand the service though. Seems to be plenty of staff but felt ignored . Before eating we sat in the bar area, a lady took our drinks order of a bottle of wine. It appeared a few feet away from us on the bar. And there is sat, and sat. Several waiters came by. A couple arrived and were greeted by all the staff, and our wine still sat there. Bar area was not busy. Waiters passed. Just as I was about to go over and get it, the original lady brought it over and then had to go back for an ice bucket. I finished my dessert, we were not offered coffee, but we had ordered more wine, so sat back to drink it which took over half an hour. And my dirty plate sat there, and was still there when we left. Certain people seemed to be getting preferential service. Starting counting the amount of times staff walked by and it got to over 20. But no-one removed the plate or asked us if we wanted coffee or anything else. Great meal, can't fault the food. No-one was rude to us, just felt uncomfortable at times.

Fabulous location with stunning views over Christchurch Harbour. Very friendly and helpful service. Food OK, but not amazing & the Eton Mess was really just Berries & cream with no ice cream and only a tiny piece of meringue!

Lovely waterside venue with friendly staff. Our starter was very salty - the sause. Main course was very nice. Inside would benefit candlelight in the evening rather than large over head lights. Eating outside was fantastic.

We have been coming to this hotel for approx 25 years, as hotel guests for special family occasions etc. Unfortunately my husband is now confined to a wheel chair, we wanted to meet up with our daughter last Christmas and thought your hotel would be just right for such an occasion .....how wrong we were, we were so disappointed with the disabled room, it made my husband feel even more disabled....it also needed a good clean. On the plus side, the food was superb, hence us returning last weekend to catch up with same daughter. Again, the disabled facilities were not acceptable, the ladies cloakroom certainly was not up to your usual standard. I wonder if this was due to the wedding being held there as the staff seemed more interested in that than helping us. To say we are disappointed is an understatement as we used to love coming to Mudeford and staying at your hotel, it has always been a special place for us....even more so now as we cannot get away due to my husbands disability. Sadly, I don't think we will be returning.

This was a birthday treat for my husband and we both had a lovely meal and thought the meal was very good. We are locals so this was not our first time eating there and we have never been disappointed . Expensive but worth it for a special occasion. and not disappointed this time. service excellent and view to die for on the deck on a beautiful summer evening. so lucky to have it in our doorstep.

Stopped in for some lunch today. Friendly service with a good and varied choice of menu. Offers half portions of meals if more suitable. Brilliant value. Hot and cold options available. Felt like the teapot was bottomless, think it was 3 cupfuls in total!

Wonderful food and so nicely presented and the young man serving was so polite and professional. Only negative was the disappointing vegetarian options for my sister. Macaroni cheese is more suited to a cafe menu. But a lovely evening none the less.

Got to say, I’ve never had a bad meal or experience in here. The ham hock and lentil soup as amazing, the steak and mushroom pie was outstanding. It was packed with lean steak in a lush, beefy broth type gravy. Great fies, a la dente peas and everything was piping hot and cooked to order. Even the plates were warm, which I always appreciate. The staff were great and the owner is a real friendly guy. If yer heading North or South on the A68, make sure this is yer pit stop, even for a coffee and cake. Made me smile today whilst I was eating, it was that good. It looks like a greasy spoon if you pass it on the road, but it’s not! It’s on a par with very good pub grub, and it’s really clean inside, as is the kitchen which I passed on the way to use the bathroom.

Go here now before everyone else figures out what amazing value this place is! The drive through the Scottish countryside is stunning (a half-hour drive from the railway stop at Galashiels). The owners have created something special that I simultaneously want to keep to myself and share with the world. Oxana's hosting (and baking and wine-pairing) skills mean you are welcomed with friendly service, clear explanations of the wine pairings and amazing, sweet treats. We have been twice - once in September and once in November - and from beginning to end, our glasses were never empty, and we were treated to amazing service. Now, the food is really something to talk about. Bryn is doing something special here. The food is fresh and innovative while remaining down to earth and approachable. A simple parsnip soup sent our table to heaven with its perfect spice. We had pork belly with the crunchiest crackling and lentils with vegetables that were flavoured so beautifully I couldn't tell what was in them. Blue cheese with truffled honey had all of us begging for more. Every bite is a delight, and some of it was items I wouldn't normally order. This food, this place, is truly something special, reflecting our Borders community and some of the best food in Scotland. Go now!
