Fried rice was not to my liking a bit stodgy and pale in colour

Used this place twice while on holiday and it was by far the best chinese restaurant we had had, we've had loads as well

Food was poor Noodle seemed like they just put curry powder on them Chicken was horrendous and seemed boiled

The Chow Mein was delicious as always, the chicken curry was good but sweeter than usual. I will be ordering again from The Happy Dragon.

Food was gloopy and tasteless and the only thing inside the spring rolls is cabbage - very beige and boring considering they’re £5.10!

One star because the duck was ok. The rest consisted of watery sauces and dried up chicken floating in oil and prawns in burnt batter. The order was also wrong!!

Went there for my 50th birthday dinner, the food was delicious (even my fussy 2 year old enjoyed it) the service nothing short of excellent and all round good atmosphere. We will definitely be back again.

We use the restaurant for delivery every time we are at our caravan and in 7 years have not had a bad one yet. Always phone when they are on the way, food arrives hot and drivers always friendly. We will be ordering one tonight and looking forward to it.

We had a really great time! The servers were so nice and accommodating, the food all tasted great and we left very full and satisfied. Definitely returning when we can!

Unfortunately I was given the wrong rice dish. I ordered egg fried rice and mine contained prawn, pea and meat. Rest of order was fine and tasty.

Had the all you can eat menu, food extremely dry chicken very rubbery and tough. Small portions, but that's expected on the all you can eat. Waitress seemed to be rushing us, which was off putting . Not sure I'd be returning to this Chinese restaurant.

Really sorry to say this as I've used them for ages but tonight take away was not very good. Really over cooked & arrived cold. I still give the delivery driver £5 as its not his fault.

One of the worst takeaways I’ve eaten to date. Ordered two chicken dishes and they reminded me of cheap microwave meals with the chicken being rubbery and in tiny cubes. Singapore noodles were bland. Thai Ribs were overcooked. The curry sauce was so sweet we couldn’t hack it. Ending up binning basically all of it. Won’t be ordering here again.

Often seen it never been in until last night. Dining area clean and pretty but missing something, not very welcoming. So decided on takeaway meal for two. We thought it was very nice with loads to eat. No complaints. On the books for next time we're visiting.

We ordered two curries and egg fried rice for takeaway. The curries were extremely sweet and tasted as if they had lots of sugar in them or were sweet and sour dishes. The meat was in tiny pieces and seemed like it was reconstituted and there was more onion skin than proper onion. The rice was quite hard and didn't seem fried, just plain rice with a very small amount of egg in. They were such unpleasant meals, we were unable to finish them only eating a few mouthfuls. Unfortunately, when we contacted the restaurant to discuss this with them, they were unhelpful, dismissive and refused to give a full refund, only agreeing to refund the curries. We made the point that we were unable to eat plain rice as a meal and as the rice was covered in the sugary 'curry' but they refused to refund the full amount. A disapointing experience, would not recommend this restaurant and will certainly not return. ****Update - response to restaurant's comment We left two reviews as we are two people, who had two very bad meals but happened to pay together. The rice was not at a reduced price, you refused to refund it, even though we couldn't eat it and had said it was poor - so we paid £10 for plain, chewy and inedible (as we'd put the saccharine 'curry' sauce on it) rice.

We bought two special curries and egg fried rice for collection, and it was inedible. We have had many Chinese curries and not one of them has been as sweet as these was. It was like eating syrup. The meat was terrible. It came in cubes and not once have a seen a square chicken or pig. It was overcooked, chewy and gristly. The onion was mostly the outer layers so couldn't be eaten. We phoned up and had to say how disappointed we were and that were we in the restaurant then we would have sent it back. I asked for a refund and after taking my card details they told me the refund was £10 less as we had to pay for the rice. The rice was bad too, but mostly why would we have bought fried rice on it's own? Besides it was all in the bin as it was thoroughly covered in the horrific sauce. Poor food and poor service.

Half the order was missing but the driver phoned and bought it back. Food had no flavour and the dishes were very watery. Chilli beef was like fritters. Never had anything like it, definitely won’t be ordering from here again in the future.

Excellent takeway at lunch time, no queues and ready in 20 minutes, with toy’s shop next door to find something for your kids or grand kids while you wait. The food was very good with generous portions, we had enough for both lunch and dinner. Especially pleased that the food wasn’t as hot as in most Chinese restaurants, kung po chicken was quite mild but tasty. Sredded duck was really crispy, will try shredded chicken next time. In our case £33 was more than enough for 3 people. Fried noodles with beans sprouts were nice and not burnt. I can highly recommend at least as a takeaway. Today visited Happy Dragon again and weren’t disappointed. The food was ready in 15 minutes, shredded chicken was at least as good as shredded duck, Singapore noodles were well prepared, next time will try vegetarian version as a side dish. For £27 we have got tasty food for 2 people for 2 days as at once we could consume only half of quite generous portions.

First delivery from the Happy Dragon but definitely will not be the last. Food was great and plenty of it.

Definitely the weirdest chinese I've eaten. The special fried rice had what looked like chunks of spam in it. Rice - weird Chilli beef - sweet and weird. Plus it was cold in there. Not worth the money. The chicken and sweetcorn soup was absolutely DISGUSTING. portion sizes were TINY.

We were a party of 16 . None in our party enjoyed the food. All the dishes , with the exception of the salt chilli parwns, were sickly sweet. The service was pushy and made you feel very rushed. By the end of the evening dishes were being "plonked" onto the table. We did not eat most of the food. Soft drinks are expensive at £3.50 for a large glass. Food all too sweet, service quite sour. Avoid.

Chow Mein and Pork Hong Kong Style, very tasty, lovely flavour. Good distribution of meat in Chow Mein. Would definitely order again.

Some of the best chicken curry I have ever had! Staff were friendly enough & the price may have gone up a bit, but it was certainly worth it. This place has improved from last time certainly and keen to help with new orders. I am impressed and shall return in future.

Decent local Chinese restaurant. Good value for money if you are hungry - only dinner option was to do an all you can eat menu for about £24. There is a large amount to choose from, food is delicious and fresh, and there are 3 1/2 courses. Children's prices are cheaper, service super friendly and very efficient. Recommended

A great meal for 7 of us. Beef was tender, duck was cooked to perfection. All very tasty and hot. Will be back!

The restaurant was decorated lovely, all staff were so sweet and welcoming!! But best of all the food was absolutely delicious! I have tried 4 different Chinese restaurants in the past and I must agree that this is so far the best I have ever tried!! Beef in black bean sauce, the beef was so tender and sauce was delicious!! Noodles were also amazing!! All the meat here is cooked to perfection so tender and cared for. I had a deep fried banana, for dessert and was also super delicious!! Amazing amazing amazing!! Definitely 100% recommend.

13/06/23 First and last time we order from here. Staff were friendly, sweet and sour chicken balls ok but sauce in a small pot. Beef in black bean sauce not eaten as not sure what the "beef" was! Hot and sour soup was not eaten as weak and watery. Seaweed ok, 6 small vegetarian pancake rolls were empty of vegetables with a single piece of limp lettuce leaf on the bottom of the tin. I could go on but our other dishes were either ok or just bland. £48 odd for not a lot. Decorative wise, not very appealing and no food hygiene rating displayed outside, perhaps it was on show inside???

Certainly the worst Chinese takeaway we have ever endured. Crispy rolls soggy and uncooked in the middle, chicken balls not crispy. The chicken and king prawn chow mein was 90% noodles with an excessive amount of a rather inferior soy type sauce, claggy and barely warm. Practically inedible. Reporting this to the restaurant met with a refusal to do anything to compensate. I canmot recommend this one at all.

We ordered Thai Green curry but it was more like Thai red curry as it was extremely hot and a red colour sauce. We were unable to eat it. The mushroom chow main was tasty but extremely greasy. The egg fried rice was lovely. The ribs and duck were good too.

Excellent meal at a good price. Complimentary prawn crackers was a nice touch. We had enough for a 2nd helping the next night. Delicious!

Went with a friend on Bank holiday monday. The service was exceptional, the food was the best Chinese we've had, maybe ever. Every dish was well presented and the inclusive menu for a set rate works perfectly. Each dish is sized just enough for you to get a decent portion whilst leaving you space to try your next choice on the menu. Free parking too! Will definitely be back.

We went into this place. Just cos the Rose chippy was shut. Huge huge mistake it was chilly in restaurant. Staff dressed scruffy. Food was really rank 🤢🤮 2 people 1 soft drink 2 rice to mains £40 😲 Total rip off bigtime. We was given what was there Al Carte menu? 😆 Wasn't offered there buffet menu until last minute. £5.50 for bowl of rice 🍚 suppose to be for 2 😆 rashens. I won't be returning or recommend this place. Suggest you give it a miss.

Absolutely fantastic,was apprehensive after reading some of the review's,huge choice of food from the menu, all fresh and hot to your table so actually better than normal buffets where trays are empty or warm food,would give it 6 stars if possible, blonde waitress very helpful and friendly. Returned and the food and service was just as good as the first time, excellent. returned six months later and it's still one of my favourites.

I believe the restaurant was extremely busy, just eat kept me updated with the few delays my order had. Trying to call the restaurant direct was not possible as was always put through to answer machine. This was the first time this has happened, restaurant normally very good on the phone. Food did eventually turn up and was very nice as usual, can't complain too much about it because if they were busy I was probably in a queue situation.

Whilst the delivery time was recovered, the time from order to delivery was 2 hours. The restaurant did explain when I called, that they were busy and on delivery, there was an apology. But 2 hours, even if communicated is still a long time.

Im sorry HAPPY DRAGON but dinner was AWFUL and it was most certainly not happy. cold food, 2 hours to make from time of order, far to sweet, no beef in the crispy chilly beef, no chilly what so ever. " like eating hollow batter wrapped in a toffee coating. no flavour to the rice at all, egg fried rice with egg that was fluorescent orange just yuck. WILL NEVER ORDER AGAIN.

Terrible, never again. I ordered delivery prawn chow mein, they sent instead noodles with pork, which was just horrible. You understand why in Eastbourne good restaurants are very expensive, they have no competition.

Very disappointed with this restaurant. We were excited to try as a friend recommended a while back, however, everything from the service to the food was very poor and extremely overpriced for the quality. Firstly, the food took a long time to be prepared.. which would have been fine if when it came out if was hot. Most of the food was luke warm to cold. Also, when the main was served, the noodles came about five minutes before the rest of the dishes so was freezing by the time we had a complete meal. The taste of the food was not too bad, but the chilli beef was particularly disgusting. Secondly, the restaurant was so cold that I had to keep my coat on whilst eating. Not a pleasant experience really when your expected to pay high prices. Finally, the lady who served us wasn't the most welcoming, she came across quite rude. The atmosphere was very uncomfortable. If your looking for a friendly, good quality Chinese restaurant I would avoid this one. I have been told it was once very good but it has clearly gone down hill. I strongly recommend You's Restaurant in Hastings. It is run with the same principle, all you can eat for a set price. It is slightly more expensive, however, the food is a very high standard, served warm and the service is very welcoming and friendly so the price is justified.

I've ordered twice now and the delivery service is brilliant. Unfortunately, on both occasions the food wasn't. First, I ordered King Prawn Chop Suey and it was incredibly sweet, more like an overly sweet, sweet and sour, couldn't eat it. Thought this was a one off and yesterday, I gave it another try and ordered a King Prawn Curry. Again, very, very sweet, couldn't eat it. Never had a Chinese meal so sweet, not even a sweet and sour. Sorry, great shame.
