Food was luke warm. Curry sauce was very watery .£70 wasted on this food never again rubbish

Ordered first time from here and never again. Chicken with green peppers and blackbean sauce the worst I've ever had. The blackbean sauce was very watery and tasteless not like the usual thick and spicy full of beans we have from our usual takeaway at home. Sweet and sour sauce was exactly the same watery. Curry sauce had a strange taste to it, the chicken balls were like marbles and the only saving grace was the Chicken Chow Mein. I understand food prices have increased however please do not rip off your customers as we certainly will not return and food was never worth £28.75!!

The food was very bland and tasteless.

Ordered food which took 50minutes to be made. After the lack lustre food arrived I tasted the food, ate my sweet and sour chicken and proceeded to violently vomit, absolutely appalled.

Really busy but I can’t understand why the food was the most bland and under seasoned food I’ve every eaten. Won’t be going back anytime soon.

Had food from here couple of years ago and was really nice but had food today and it was awful. Not even edible. Chicken dishes were so hard and chewy, as if they were reheated. Sauces were so watery and runny, and beef dishes were dry and tasted burnt. So disappointed. Avoid!!

Takeaway meal which has to be one of the worst we’ve had. The chips were clearly last nights which had been cooked again. Chicken with black bean sauce which looked and tasted as if it had been made from drain water!! Normally the food is great there however tonight’s was awful. Won’t be going back there!!

This take away had been recommended to us so we decided to give it a go. We thought the food was average, we’ve eaten better Chinese food. The chicken in black bean sauce was very watery, not the unctuous sauce that usually accompanies this dish, ditto the chicken with ginger and spring onions. The noodles contained lots of bean sprouts which is not something we’ve come across before. Prices were average I’d say. They take cash or American Express only.

I have visited this place first time and my experience with this was wonderful

One star was for the staff, another for the price, but none for the food! Nothing tasted of the food we ordered, just terrible flavours and so greasy we had to leave it and felt really sick. Broccoli was mushy, Chinese flavours were absent and the only seasoning was chilli flakes. We'll never get food from there again. They seriously need to change their chef as they must be loosing customers by the dozen.

Nothing happy about the food here! Some of the worst food we've ever eaten. Started off so promising, phone was busy, went to collect, there were locals in there. Ah so bad. Chow mein grey. Singapore noodles had some weird uncooked paste all over it. Curry sauce - savage. Prawn crackers yellow Chips oily and cold. Duck meat was weird colour and texture. By some miracle we're not sick. Probably because most went in the bin!

The reason they don't open the restaurant is probably because the food is poor and they couldn't handle the complaints

Food was absolutely disgusting tasted very strange and oily. Chow mein insipid and bland. Didnt eat very much of it and yet it still gave us upset stomachs

Ordered a takeaway which consisted of prawn crackers which were stale and only a small bag of them, lemon chicken which was dry and chewy, chicken balls and lemon sauce. The lemon sauces didn't taste of lemon, more like vinegar. Normally share 1 portion of rice with my hubby which is usually plenty, but glad we got 2 portions as the portions were very small. Won't be ordering from again, worst Chinese I've ever tasted! AVOID AVOID AVOID!

Food tends to vary in quality and is actually quite expensive and the fact the shop doesn't accept card can also difficult things. would be really cool to have a delivery service for it as well as not many people drive around Central cardigan

Just got our order (No5 6.30pm on 1/5/2022) home,which is a 3 min drive tops …half of it was stone cold!!! Sweet and sour chicken cold,2 of the 4 pancake rolls half cooked on the outside,soggy and cold inside,rice has to be nuked in the micro as it was warm at best,and we all know the dangers of warm rice… There is no excuse for cold or half cooked food,none! And I shouldn’t have to get home and finish it off just to be able to eat it, Time wasn’t an issue as I waited in the car while it was being done and I’d gladly waited 5 more mins and have it well cooked (hot) than be writing this review.

I'll start with the good things. Prawn crackers were nice. Now the bad, only had 1 portion of rice, noodles were anemic, beef curry was drowning in oil. Beef was crispy & resembled donor kebab meat. This was meant to be hot & it was, because it had tons of chilli flakes added to it. And the bbq sauce, I'm saving for when I re felt my shed roof! I'm glad I won't have to eat there again.

We are really looking forward to the shop opening soon. We have a takeaway about every 6 to 8 weeks. Always look forward to this and have never been disPpointed.

Upon arrival the staff where very friendly and helpful! They had covid measures in place and helped to make me feel safe! The food was very enjoyable! My children had the children’s rice and chicken ball box meals, there was a really good portion size and they enjoyed the crispy chicken balls! I had a chicken omelette and chips and it was delicious! (I know it’s not a very Chinese meal but thought I’d give it a go) we also had a happy city special rice, this meal was a little tasteless but on the whole we were very impressed! Definitely will be visiting again!

Prompt and efficient telephone take away service. Food piping hot and of a decent quality offering value for money. Sit down area does look somewhat "tired."

Very poor experience from start to finish. When ordering we were informed that it would be ready to collect in 25 minutes. I duly arrived around 25 minutes later and the place itself was far from impressive, very shabby and tired looking place. I was told that it wouldn’t be too long. Usually you accept that at busy times there is going to be a delay especially on weekends but after 20 minutes it still wasn’t ready and I approached the desk again to be told it was going to be five more minutes. However it was another 15 minutes or so before the food was finally brought out and they forgot a part of the menu which they had to go back and get. There was a couple of pensioners that arrived around the same time and I felt for them as they were still waiting after our food was finally brought out to us. Also the price is astronomical. We normally pay £20 for the same dishes but paid £38. Absolute disgrace for what your getting which is food of dire quality! Now for the food! I’m afraid to say that it certainly was not worth the wait at all! Every dish was greasy and we found odd bits of crusty tasting bits I still have no idea what they were. Chips were awful. To add insult to injury and make matters worse though my daughter later that evening suffered from severe sickness and diahorrea with excruciating stomach cramps. It got so bad that we had to call the out of hours doctor. I think as there is a limited choice of Chinese takeaways in Cardigan these guys have the monopoly and consequently service and quality suffers . Next time I would rather drive the 20 minutes journey time to Aberporth or even further to Newcastle Emlyn to get a better service and more satisfying Chinese takeaway. I wouldn’t normally bother taking this much effort to write a review which says it all really. Try at your peril is my advice!

Ordered a takeaway for 5 yesterday and a little apprehensive of the reviews here, albeit the google reviews were pretty consistently good. The food was high quality all round and would recommend folks trying out. Would have been a 5 rating but their process for collecting around COVID has not been thought out as one queue for collection and new orders, with one person at a time allowed in was not good.

I used to love the Chinese from cardigan but was very disappointed with our take out last night. Chips are all hard, pork fried rice had 4 small pieces of pork and 3 peas in total. Such a shame as it used to be delicious. Prices have been increased dramatically in the last few years and the quality and quantity of the food has definitely gone down hill....

Best Chinese in Cardigan. Its the only Chinese in Cardigan, but the staff there strive for excellence so even if it weren't the only one I'd still wager it would be the best.

I love this place. Its hard to place an order at times. so please happy city, start up an online ordering menu.

Having a Chinese takeaway to end our family holiday was the worst idea by going to this establishment. The food had no flavour and the sauces were what I can only describe as thin bistro gravy. We spent a lot of money and sadly hardly any of of the many different dishes were remotely edible. Emailed them and after a week have had no response. Please please avoid this establishment!!!

Always top notch food, always a winner!

We decided to round off a lovely visit to West Wales with a Chinese meal from the Happy City, which turned out to be the worst takeaway we have ever had. The Singapore rice was burnt. The Chicken in black bean sauce was like chicken in a dishwater and the beef with beansprouts was undescribably poor. I emailed the restaurant to see what they would say for themselves and the customer service turned out to be as bad as their food. No reply. Please do yourselves a favour and steer clears they will happily take your hard earned cash for unbelievably poor food. They only take cash, if I had paid by card I would have cancelled payment. BAD, BAD, Bad!

If you like your foot soaked in grease, get your food from hear. My partner mentioned it to the owner and he just tutted and exchanged the greasy spring rolls for a cheap bag of prawn crackers. Been going here for over 35 years and this was the worst Chinese we’ve ever had. Cardigan needs more competition I think.

Just a lovely lovely take-away meal. I ended up in Cardigan and all the restaurants were full, so ordered Chinese takeaway. So glad I did. The meal was excellent, lots of it and really tasty. Has the sweet and sour chicken and what was fascinating is the sauce came separately so i could decide how much or little i wanted. What a great idea. Spare ribs were superb. Well worth a visit

Extremely greasy!! Alot of money spent to feel very disappointed and in need of a gallon of water... Also, bbq sauce does not taste like bbq sauce, it smells and tastes weird and its lumpy 🤢

Had a takeaway for valentines. Absolutely disgusting, no taste & a burnt chow mien which made everything taste awful... The egg fried rice & prawn balls looked like it was someone else’s leftovers... Never again, waste of money, disgusting

Staff are very friendly and food was very quick. However, you don't get a lot for your money. Food served in the shallow plastic boxes. Very expensive for what you get!!

We were on holiday and fancied a Chinese so stopped off here. We spent close to £50 between us all and we all said it’s the worst we have ever had. No one even ate half of their meals most went in the bin. Such a waste of time and money will never return.

Visited this evening for dinner (staying at Ty Parc - highly recommended) and enjoyed a tasty, reasonably-priced meal. Service was friendly without being over-familiar ( I hate being called “mate” by waiters / waitresses), drinks reasonably priced and food more than acceptable. Having read some other reviews on this place, what do some people want?

My husband and I ordered Lemon Chicken, which was deep fried in a hard greasy batter, with accompanying grey watery sauce, which I guessed was the lemon sauce. Also Sweet & Sour Chicken, which was also deep fried in the same greasy batter, one small piece of pineapple and very little sauce. Both meals were absolutely awful.

Staff are lovely but the menu (and the decor) hasn't changed in years; Chinese food can be so much better than this...

A solid Chinese. Reasonably priced with a quick and efficient service. Restaurant dated but food is of a good quality. Will be using if passing again.

Just not very good, even the prawn crackers tasted oily , the chicken chinese was very poor with the chicken gristly. Maybe just used to our own local Chinese but we will not be visiting again.

Had Chinese this evening, asked for small ribs and got two. Asked for Bbq sauce and they gave us gravy, when we rung to complain they said it’s gravy Bbq sauce. Very strange. Wouldn’t recommend it , the chicken balls where cheap.

Busy Saturday night so service was a little unpredictable but the food was excellent.

We were staying in Gwbert (about 3 miles away) as a big family. We had looked forward for weeks to the Chinese that had been planned for a while as when we lived nearer it was a brilliant sit-down restaurant but when we saw the reviews on here, I must admit we were a little apprehensive.As a party of 8 we had a cross range of meals, none of us really had any complaints. The 'balls' were better, everyone liked their meals, there were a few aspects that weren't as good as our regular takeout, but considering the reviewers on this, far, far better than any of us anticipated. The only downside was that the pots used for the sweet and sour sauce were only half full, and very, very runny. As for price, we thought it was very reasonable, and pretty much on par with our local takeouts.

The food is decent but not the best Chinese takeaway I've had. Only issue is only having 7 Chicken Balls instead of 10 which you usually get in most Chinese takeaways and customer service over the phone can sometimes be rude. But overall nice food and would definitely be having again. (There's also no card machine)

Well, well, what an awful meal, cheap Iceland chicken blocks covered in powdered chip shop curry....worst meal we have ever had in any Chinese establishment anywhere in the world, when complained, we were told they were sorry, then advised of better restaurants around the town!STILL demanded full price though, no card system in use, CASH ONLY BRIGADE even though we were unable to eat the rubbish....what we tasted was brought up 15 minutes after leaving the place.RUDE local female staff member.Do yourselves a favour and steer clear.

Very nice family run Chinese restaurant in Cardigan. The quality of the food is very good & the staff are very helpful & charming. Well worth a visit.

We'd driven all day and just wanted a quick and easy meal, but we should have kept looking a bit longer. On a Saturday evening there were only 3 tables filled, but there did seem to be a number of take away orders being phoned in.

Not too bad, food was ok. Nothing spectacular but better than average The service was slow, not many people when we came in but it did fill up so whilst I could see the staff were getting busier it still took a while But they were more than helpful Only downside is they only take cash or American express

if you want a bad stomache then this is the place to go , once saw the man clean the floor out side with a mop then washed the window down with it , the woman is filthy , its only a 1 star so as said if you want bad belly this is the place to go

Nice environment within the restaurant with the chef based in cardigan for 18 years. Food is tasty although a little bit greasy but overall it’s a good place to dine with friends and relatives for Chinese cuisine

Quick and easy to order had this as a takeout delivery,food was nice and hot,not he best i've ever had but by far not the worst!!

My husband and I visited the restaurant this evening. There was only 1 other couple in there, but it was early on a Wednesday evening. The service was friendly and efficient. The food was excellent. Both hot and very tasty. My husband had a prawn dish, they were cooked perfectly and the black bean sauce was delicious. I had chicken and the fresh ginger was lovely, plenty of vegetables on both dishes too with ample rice for both of us. I would definitely eat here again if in the area. My only complaint would be that my diet coke was a bit flat, but I think it probably came from a large bottle.

I have been going back there for the last 30 years at least once a year.

I used to love their chicken curry, used to be hot enough to make me sweat and taste enough to make you eat it. It's no longer like that, it seems to have gone up the scale of heat and can no longer taste anything. If you like Spicy then that's fine obviously. Their Omelette is very greasy, but if you don't mind that, then get it, it tastes absolutely delicious!

Whenever my wife and I are visiting family in Cardigan we call in here. We are told this Chinese has been here for a very long time, maybe it's showing it. Starting to look a bit tired inside. Food was good as was the service. Reasonably priced.

Barely warm, very greasy and incompetent moody staff. Wish I had checked Trip Advisor first. As a hungry tourist passing through, we had assumed there was no such thing as bad Chinese food...

This is our local Chinese and we have been going here for years. Have tried a number of others in the area (Newcastle Emlyn, Llandusyl etc.) and this is definitely the best! You get bigger portions in the takeaway menu compared to when you eat in and yes, the decor is a little outdated but the food is really nice and I can't believe some of the reviews on this page. Recommend the sweet and sour pork hong kong style and the special curry, and the honey glazed ribs - yum!

Absolutely disgusting, never ever had chilli in a chow Mein before. Rice was soggy and me and my boy were ill in the night. Never Ever again. I would give it NO stars but got to pick at least 1 to write a review. YUCK!!!!!

Bien, aquí viene mi crítica. . . . . . Como primera impresión. Mi pareja y yo entramos por la puerta de gente cada mesa tenía los ojos sobre nosotros. . . . . ¿Cómo nos atrevemos a entrar en un restaurante como turistas! ! ! . En segundo lugar estaba la oscuridad lúgubre interior del lugar. Descrito como un viejo boozer 1970 que todavía parecía que con los asientos y techos interiores. Después vino la música. . . . . Sonaba como música funeral. En el mejor de nada relajante. He ido a varios lugares de China en el REINO UNIDO y el mundo, pero este tiene que ser el peor. La comida no es el peor que he probado, pero no es bueno. Lo siento por el comentario honesto, pero la honestidad es mejor.

Esta comida china era absolutamente repugnante! Increíblemente caro, mi marido sopesó alrededor de £25 por nuestra orden desde el sitio web y cuando llegamos allí aparentemente los precios había subido, así que nos costó 29 libras! ! Por muy poca comida. Pancake rollos estaban llenos de gusano inusualmente gris bean buscando el satay de ternera coles parecía duros en una luz falsa carne marrón transparente líquido! En fritos y tostadas de gambas lleno de aceite, no podía dejar de probar con el limón el pollo es salada! Es una pena, ya que este era parte de las celebraciones por el cumpleaños de mi hija! Absolutamente repugnante, no debería ser permitido para servir bajo el nivel de la comida! !

Tuvimos una comida servida aquí, la comida era bastante buena en general, una pena no había carne crujiente desmenuzada en el menú. Estaba muy tranquilo en el restaurante, ya que éramos los únicos comensales, sin embargo, el llevar bastante ocupada. Algunos platos estaban un poco más caro que otros lugares hemos comido comida china. El servicio bueno y el personal era muy servicial

Pedir y nos dijeron que sería unos 20 minutos, pero no fue hasta después de que pagamos nos dijeron que en realidad se acerca r0 catedral hasta que recibimos nuestra comida. Por lo menos, estaba recién preparado y caliente, pero no tan genial. Había carne poco en el plato de carne la salsa era muy crudos y débiles y los pimientos eran casi cruda, apenas cocinadas en absoluto. En general no fue una experiencia muy buena y realmente no tienen una comida.

No me gusta la comida aquí, el curry que pedimos, no sabía extraño tuve un curry sabor haya tenido antes y eso me hizo sentir un poco incómodo.

Mi familia y yo estuvimos en la zona y fuimos una comida para llevar. Pedir y nos dijeron que sería 30 minutos, volvimos después de 30 minutos y aún no estaba lista. Terminamos esperando más de una hora para la comida que era muy frustrante como otras personas que había pedido después de nosotros obtendríamos su comida antes que nosotros. Una vez conseguimos la comida fue terrible, los fideos tenían un gusto desagradable, todas las salsas eran como el agua y las bolas de gambas estaban nadando en aceite. La mayoría de nos tirado. Mientras espera la comida también notamos que alguien lavando copas en el restaurante, que consistía en correr el cristal bajo un grifo y colocarlo en la estantería listo para las personas al lado de beber. No muy higiénico. En resumen, un sitio al que no volvería a o recomendar.

They seem to struggle with flavour in this takeaway.My chow mein, to be honest, had some really odd after taste, I can't quite explain what but it really isn't pleasant.Chicken balls, they clearly don't heat the fat hot enough before putting the balls in, since the battery retains so much grease and is slightly separated from the actual chicken. Rice was fine. Chicken with ginger and spring onion is the nicest part, but the chopping of the ginger and spring onions is so incredibly lazy, absolute slab sized slices.Overall pretty poor and on more than one occasion.

Three of us had different starter's and different main meals and all were excellent, hot and tasty.The service was very good and the food was served promptly with good portions. The weather was atrocious so not many in restaurant but takeaway was busy. We will be back.

We decided to have a Chinese meal and as the Chinese near our abode was closed for holidays, we went to Cardigan as this was the only Chinese around. The owner was as glum as a bear with a toothache. The restaurant has no ambience. The hot and sour soup was okay and the plain noodles too. The rest of our dishes were mediocre. I have eaten Chinese food all my life so I do know good Chinese food.

I have been using this Chinese restaurant for years 20+, as many of the reviews have said it does need a bit of a revamp (decor and card machine payments) BUT it does sell good food at an affordable price in a clean setting. The core of the staff are in fact a Chinese or Chinese/British family, despite what a previous review said. I've always been well taken care of whilst visiting the restaurant or the takeaway, they are always happy to talk you through the menu if you are feeling adventurous , or even to omit an ingredient if you don't like them (i hate peas!)No company has a 100% track record of being spot on for everyone's tastes, sometimes things may be a little busy or rushed as this is a well used takeaway, this may be the reason for some of the poorer reviews on here. I can only go on my experience and say that i still eat here year after year, they must be doing something right... the Happy City Special Fried Rice is my particular fvourite!Go on, give em a try :)
