Golden Dragon Chinese in Ceredigion

This was our last night holiday dinner treat to ourselves. We took advice from previous vacationers and rang our order through. The food was hot and there was plenty of it. Hubby enjoyed his main dish where as I didn't. I had sweet n sour chicken Hong Kong style, it had the post perculiar taste. Although the egg fried was more than enough for 2 people I did struggle to find any egg in it.

Staying here on holiday. Our last evening before going home and feeling lazy. We ordered a meal for 3, as there was 3 of us. My husband collected after 30 minutes. Friendly staff. He came back with a box full. It was enough for at least 5 people!!! The chicken balls and pancake rolls were huge! We took the left overs back home and had the next evening. Really good value and tasted great too.

Went here for the first time , very good food,hot and tasty, it’s on the outskirts of Aberporth but worth a visit.

Just really very good Chinese food. Telephone answered promptly and our order taken very efficiently. Great service.

Walked into this takeaway at 17.30, was told that I needed to ring my order through and there was a 2hrs wait, this was in the middle of February!! Instead I drove 5 minutes to Taten Eirw Fish & Chips, got served straight away and the meal was lovely. Would recommend you go there.

Really good ribs and tasty curry. Have to ring order through before turning up and can be quite a wait. Reasonable priced takeaway. Friendly staff. Covid aware and safety measures in place.

Ended up going here after problem eating at local pub best thing we did, lovely food, easy to collect covid safe.

A late spin after a beautifully hot day we ended up in Aberporth, spotted the Chinese was still open & having missed supper we called in. We ordered two chow meins, the lady serving was polite & friendly, we didn't have to wait long before it was ready. Delicious, freshly prepared & piping hot. Would recommend.

My family and I had Chinese food from this restaurant and it was very tasty and certainly not oily as other reviews suggest. We had a few starters and a couple of mains and all were lovely. The service was also extremely good , the staff were very helpful and patient

The main chippy was closed due to refurbishment so went here instead . Absolutely horrid chips tasted nothing but old fat . And the fish still had the skin on and again tasted of old fat. Don't buy here even if your hungry . Total waste of money won't eat from here again .

Large portions and every mouthful was delicious, would definitely recommend the chips and Singapore chowmein

Nice food, and hot. Fairly quick service. In a good location not far from Aberporth - quite easy to find.

Having taken advice from some locals we ordered a meal from here. The young lady answering the telephone had a lovely attitude so we ordered our food. Arrived at the agreed time only to be told it wasn’t quite ready (fair enough it was a Saturday evening) Waited for a further 20 minutes and the food arrived - it was average for a Chinese takeaway but nothing more really but as we are in the midst of a pandemic I suppose I am being picky. Good value though.

Came here for a duck option, I went for the duck in black bean sauce. All I can say is the meat/breast was Juicy and moist all jokes asides I can say it’s the best breast I’ve had in the last 15 years. The service was fantastic - ordering was a breeze. The highlight of my meal was the telephone manner and greeting of this blonde lady called tanya/come to bed with me eyes, she simply had me in the palm of her hand - I found myself sat there talking nonsense just to get her attention. Tanya/pretty blue eyes i hope we cross paths again, I will be visiting Wales in 4 months times once my Amazonian rain forest adventure comes to a end. Wales has a gem here the food is terrific. The fat in the fryer needed changing without a doubt and the chips were as if cooked the day before and then recoiled... I was up all night long trying to get rid of the horrid oily bile. The fried rice was dry the curry sauce was way too salty. The staff we lovely... students working hard for their pocket money.. the safe distancing protocols were excellent. So if you would like to meat nice people in a Covid Safe environment that serves poor quality food... then knock yourself out!.

First visit and we shall definitely go again for takeaway. We ordered Hong Kong style sweet and sour chicken, egg fried rice and chips.we shared it and there was plenty to eat. Very nicely cooked and staff are friendly. We ordered on the the phone and they said it would be about 30 mins, which it was 😃. We collected in person.

Ordered for 6 people and everyone thoroughly enjoyed. Nice to see good adherence to Covid regulations. We ordered for a set time and it was ready when we arrived. Thanks.

The New Golden Dragon is good quality food. We had family feast which was well cooked and tasty. We would definitely go back.

On holiday and came across this Chinese ordered over the phone due to lockdown - wish we hadn’t wasted our holiday money on this thus tasteless watery food! Spend your money on better quality food from a supermarket. We bought two veggie dishes (curry and black bean) with rice! Both swimming! Couldn’t finish! Such a shame- the owners need to take a good long hard look at themselves and stop cutting corners to make a profit! Avoid

Myself and sister had a take out Chinese. We ordered sweet & sour chicken, chicken and cashew nut, fried rice, prawn crackers. It was really good. We were given a time, the food was ready and hot. Will be ordering again and would recommend it.

I'd avoid this place at all costs unless your willing to pay *£7 for a plastic tub of tastless greasy slop which was ment to be a beef chow mein. It wasn't even edible and its also the plain menu ive seen for a Chinese restaurant in a long time. Never known a chinese chippy to not even do soup

We called in here on Sunday evening for fish and chips, I’ve been before and just hoped that it would be as good as last visit. We were not disappointed, the fish was fabulous and the chips, would definitely recommend.

Eleven hungry people needed food, so in we went...Not what I expected....would I be back...doubt it...The whole place needs a make over & the staff a shake up. Totally rubbish night..Will we go back ...never

How this place can serve food is beyond me. On arrival all 4 members of staff, 1 taking orders and 1 serving chips, a Chinese man and woman in the kitchen which we could see. All four members of staff were Scrolling through mobile phones, the lady did put her phone down to take our order. However the Chinese lady who prepared our food put her phone down and without washing her hands prepped and served our food without gloves. Her hair was lose with no net. No gloves. The hygiene standards appeared so low I struggled to eat the food. And on that note the food itself was awful. We had Singapore chow mein which was a tub of over cooked stodgy noodles and fatty meet. The ribs came with a black sauce which i can only describe as tasteless and looked like tar. The sweet and sour chicken were balls of grease and the chips were also very greasy. Do not waste your money. Drive to Cardigan and go to Tesco !!!

We chose from both fish and chips and Chinese menu.The chips were reasonable in quality but the portions were very small. The pasties were an insult, truly awful.As for the chinese dishes, they were completely tasteless.Overall, over priced and abysmal.We won't be back

Good value for money.. Tasty Chicken curry Fried rice.. not greasy... large portions clean & tidy place.. will visit again

Rang to order a take away which was made in reasonable time. The food was of an acceprable quality but i would not rush back and the service was polite and friendly. Not cheap but not expensive for price.

Popped in to buy a take away and purchased the Vietnamese fried rice with king prawn and cashew nuts. Plenty of Chinese vegetables, no GSM. Although prices have gone up, the two dishes were spanned two meal snacks. Recommend these dishes.

We just arrived for our weekend break in Tresaith and no body wanted to cook. So take out it was. This is the only local Chinese takeaway. On the plus side the food was cooked quickly and was piping hot. The taste and flavour was decidedly average. All that had a chow mien dish commented that the noodles were rally over cooked. The dishes were a good portion size. However that were quite greasy. All in all, filled a hole but nothing special.

On holiday here in Wales found this Chinese local to where we are staying, ordered a take away, very quick service and massive amount of food, so double check when you order, don’t go overboard. Only down side no out door parking.

Awful,probably the worst Chinese I have ever had.The fish and chips was even worse,just full of grease yuk!!!

Unfortunately we had a very disappointing take away from here at the end of January 2018. We had ordered 2 dishes which we usually order from other Chinese restaurants so we could compare the quality as this was the first time we had ordered from the Golden Dragon. I had sweet and sour chicken Hong Kong style. It was very chewy and the coating was soggy. Quite unpleasant and I couldn't eat it. My husband had crispy shredded beef and this was even worse, it was soggy, not crispy at all. It ended up being left. The spring roll was nice and the rice was ok. We also had spare ribs which were fine apart from the BBQ sauce which looked like thick gravy and had a very strange taste. We won't be using this take away again.

Arrived too late for a sit down meal around town but enjoyed the Great chips and omelette that we had here.

We have called at the Golden Dragon many times and have had a bad meal yet. The portions are very generous and well cooked.

Estábamos tan ansiosos de un chino, pero quedé muy decepcionado con todo era sosa y probado el mismo. Tuvimos Especial arroz frito, curry y salsa especial de barbacoa chow mein y patatas fritas. Lo único que sabía bien eran las patatas fritas con sal y vinagre, así que no vamos a aquí y no era barato!!

Chinese takeaway in Aberporth offers good food and generally a quick service. Gets very busy so best to phone in order. Use it regularly over the last 15 years or so.

Been using this Chinese for years. Always get some ribs as the gravy is lovely and the curry. No free prawn crackers and take your own bag.

Not bad food - quick service - only criticism it was a bit salty, the sweet and sour was a bit dry and very red, no prawn crackers even though i spent more than £20.

This place seems to be constantly closed! We went down thurs evening around 9pm and its shut? Why? Really really disappointing it should not be closed when the menu and the front door states 10pm.

En primer lugar no hacen las comidas de los niños, así que tuvimos que comprar un adulto tamaño comida para nuestro hijo, 3/4 de los cuales estaba desaprovechado. Me parece que es una pizzería incrédulos que no sirve porciones de niños o los precios. Lo que un timo.

fideos sosa necesitaba más o más fuerte sabor, y la salsa dulce y amarga no puedo comentar, no fue ni. Falta de salsa curry de salsa, cebolla izquierda en cuando nos dijeron que dejarlo. Promedio acercando pobre. Si este es el mejor al oeste de...

La comida era normal, con tamaños muy generosas porciones pero el servicio era pobre, los camareros se levantó a comer sobres de patatas fritas. La limpieza es un problema aquí ya que el suelo parecía como si no se hubiese aspirador en semanas.

have used this take away for 30 years and cant remember ever having to complain about the food or the staff.We have a take out at least once per month and have fish and chips from here as well.

We have family in Aberporth and we often pop over to stay.Great food,friendly staff and the fish and chips, a separate counter in the same building is pretty good too.We prefer to get chips from here other than the other chip shop in the village as we know we will actually get served.Keep up the great work.

We stopped here on the way back to the lodge we were renting and nearly didn't order as the prices were a couple of quid more expensive than our local takeaways but as we are on holiday we decided to order anyway! And boy are we glad we did! I had beef in satay and the beef was so tender and big chunky pieces made it worth the price, the satay sauce was amazing, nutty and spicy but not too much. My hubby had duck with pineapple and he said it was very succulent and his tub was jammed packed. We shared a plain chow mein and this was also delicious, in some tasty sauce. We shared some chips also and these were by far the best chips we've had!! Well cooked, fresh cut chips, lovely crispy texture and nicely seasoned. All round just a great meal. And it was ready in 10 mins!! If we come back to the area we will definitely be going back for a takeaway from this place. We highly recommend.

We were staying at Gorslwyd farm so it was the nearest Chinese .Very tasty and plenty of it. It was about £2 a dish more than we are used to but still very nice.

we were staying just down the road from here in a fantastic bungalow (wenallt) so on the first night we had a takeaway instead of cooking thought it was a bit pricey to what we pay at home but they have no competion but when we got it the portions were bigger couldn't eat it all and was really good and tasty.

We holiday in the area several times a year & decided on a Chinese take-away one night.The food was stir fried nicely - meat tender, veggies still had a bite so no complaints there.We had a mix of meat & poultry dishes but what really confused me is that they ALL seemed to be swimming in the same generic (rather salty) mixed meat gravy which was less than palatable.The verdict... edible & tasty enough but nothing to write home about & hardly authentic.Unless they up their game we won't be going back. I'm a reasonably competent cook when it comes to Asian cuisine so know my review is accurate.I don't want to be wokking it when on holiday but still want some good Chinese food. Please guys... notch it up a couple of gears & we'll give you another go.
