I have a craving for Pho, and it was mildly sated. I have to say it wasn't the best Pho i have had but it did the job.

I have ordered food from this place a few times an until recently service was ok as was the food. However, the last time I ordered the food never arrived! I tried to call but the phone was busy. Several hours later I managed to get through only to be told that they had problems with drivers and "I" had collected the food! They had clearly messed up an given my food to somebody else but refused to refund me!!! I even spoke to the owner who couldn't care less and said that the manager would call me. He never did. I have never received such bad service! Well its not really a service and have been robbed of £30!

I went to this restaurant with 3 friends this evening, never have I seen such appalling service in a restaurant. We placed our order and waited for our starter. After some time the waiter apologised for the delay which was not too long. However only 3 of us were served but expected the fourth to follow. When we had almost finished my friend asked for her starter and was informed that it had been forgotten. It appeared reasonably quickly. After a further long wait the main course began to be served. Two of us were served and the third was given her vegetable side dish. After a reasonable wait the waiter was asked where the rest of the mains were. He was unaware that 2 of us had no dinner. He returned a few minutes later and informed her that her choice was unavailable and she was asked to choose again which she did and this arrived promptly but was so spicy that 3 of us could not eat it. My 3rd friend still had only a side dish. Again the waiter was asked when her dinner would arrive and she was again informed that it was not available. At this point she declined a further choice. Apologises were given but by this point our meal out was irretrievably spoilt, no recompense was offered other than an apology even when requested. Appalling customer service and we will not return. Unfortunately I was unable to give less than 1 star.

I ordered Vietnamese tofu curry and egg fried rice. It was really fresh with a delicate taste of lemon grass and lush greens. The rice was light and slightly crispy. I have never had Vietnamese food before and was surprised how distinctive it is from Thai and Chinese both favourites of mine, so another to add to this list. The staff were friendly, attentive and knowledgeable and the prices excellent value. I have rated it cheap eat but this is no compromise on quality. My only criticism would be that the decor is a little glitzy for my taste as this food speaks for itself.

I approached this place with caution after reading mixed revies on here but i have to say, I did really enjoy my food. I ordered tofu summer rolls and a tofu and veg pho. This restaurant is currently BYOB and should be for the nxt few months while they sort their license out. Will be heading back soon as i'm local and it's pretty good value all things considered.

Hanoi Pho on Green Lanes used to be part of a small chain, then the head chef left and set up his own place of the same name on a different part of Green Lanes. I have eaten vietnamese food all over the world, and was completely blown away by Hanoi Pho. The food is impeccable, very very fresh, the squid was exquisite superbly cooked in a very light tempura - light, tender and not the slightest bit greasy, the duck with rice pancake, the duck - perfectly cooked, the rice pancakes freshly made, the lemongrass chicken was divine, really tasty and again superbly cooked, the two different beef dishes - again perfectly cooked and really tender. The vietnamese spinach with garlic is soooo good. This is what happens when the chef owns the place ! I have seen a couple of negative reviews - these are for the old place before the chef broke out on his own. Super friendly family, its sparkling clean, the chef is just lovely and comes out and checks with you on every dish. It is very reasonable, friendly and you can bring your own wine with zero corkage fee. Highly highly recommended - we were five people eating a wide range of dishes between us and all of us completely loved it. NOTE: the new Hanoi Pho is not the same as the chain of the same name, the Green Lanes one is now chef owned as he left the chain- so the website is the old chain....not the green lanes one.

My family had a takeaway from here last night and it was all delicious. We will be back. A small criticism would be the quality of prawns in the curry. They weren't as good as the prawns used in the other dishes which were delicious. Salads gorgeous and all other dishes delectable. Can't understand how this place has had bad reviews. Perhaps the chefs vary?

Very good quality typical vietnamese cuisine at affordable price. The staff is very enthusiastic and really nice. The menu is interesting and the items we chose were delicious, especially the crispy duck, the monk fish and the sizzle fish. The broths are quiet nice too! We had the mango salad and it was fun of subtil savour, fresh and crisp. Highly recommendable and really affordable.

I'd been keen to support a new restaurant opening in Green Lanes (that isn't one of the usual 'Green Lanes drag' Turkish places. I've had fantastic Vietnamese food before so I knew that it's much more varied than pho. So my friend and I tried other food. It just wasn't good. Actually it was pretty nasty. Perhaps the pho is better - but I won't be giving it another try.

We eat there last night. The mango salad starter was ok. We could not spot the lemongrass in the duck with lemongrass dish and had to check with the staff that the meat was in fact duck (they themselves had to check back with the chef). We were served tofu with lemongrass rather than vegetables with lemongrass and when we asked why were told that in fact vegetables with lemongrass was unavailable even when it was on the menu and they took our order - we think they were hoping we would just not notice! Would definitely not recommend.

Having been reassured for 3 hours that my takeaway was "just around the corner" the restaurant cancelled my order without informing me. I understand sometime there are problems but I take exception to being lied to. Absolutely awful. Do not order from this restaurant

A good friend treated me to a belated birthday meal and I wish she had saved the £80 she ended up spending. Unfortunately the food wasn’t great! The salted squid dish arrived cold, around 10 mins after the satay chicken was delivered. It would have been nice to have had all the starters on the table at the same time. The chicken satay was good, but it’s hard to mess that up! For mains, the mango salad was ordered along with rice noodles, sizzling chicken in black bean sauce and the fish with dill. The chicken was chewy and the sauce tasteless, some of the mangoes in the salad still had their skin on and the fish came with an after taste which made them inedible, eaten begrudgingly by my friend who was hungry, I couldn’t. We spoke to the management who took the defensive and blamed Waitrose- where the mangoes had been bought and told us the fish tasted exactly as it should. He was so rude, I asked for the service charge to be removed from the bill. And I don’t like to do this as I know how the hospitality industry is struggling, but this guy insinuated we were to blame for the food not being up to scratch . Such a shame as we were both looking forward to visiting this restaurant, that my friend had frequented approx 15 years ago and had raved about over the last few months. For a well established, long running restaurant this was disappointing and maybe the owners need to take customer feedback more seriously. Apologies to the nice young lady who served us who was disadvantaged from the removal of the service charge due to the extremely rude head waiter/ owner.
