Ordered food from here chips were very cold and hard as rock. Happened to me 2nd time never again ordering from here again. Had to throw them away just waste of money.

I visited today. The cook didn't answer when I spoke to him. The chips were so hard we couldn't eat them we paid £6 just to throw them away

Ordered a large kebab with naan on takeaway. The naan had a greenish coloured fungus on the side, which I spotted during my meal. This place needs to be shut down for health and safety violations- only go if you want food poisoning.

Hmm, not the greatest chip shop experience. First time ordering from here and unfortunately the last. Chips, pie and sausage were very dry. Children's meal deal drink was missing from order and I paid for a 1.5lt of fanta but received a can. Delivery time was reasonable.

I used to absolutely love Hampton's Plaice. They used to deliver good quality food in a timely manner. It is evident that they must have recently come under new ownership as the quality of food and speed of delivery that was once second to none has turned to nothing short of an absolute disgrace. Food has fundamentally changed. Horribly cooked. Soggy chips. Batter that you cannot cut through. Off smelling, old produce. Put together with a 2 hour delivery. Yet another decent establishment that's gone to the dogs due to new ownership who haven't got a clue. Avoid at all costs.

The worst food. Soggy chips and more batter than fish. Still hungry after I ate what I could. Wouldn’t order again

Orderd from deliveroo last night two kebabs one normal one chicken. Salad was soggy food cold. Partner didn't eat his kebab because grease and taste. My chicken look grey had half. Now sat on bathroom floor with severe food poisoning and have been sick. I wouldn't order from here even again

I order food from here on uber eats and got a complete strangers order. At least its kind of good, very greasy tho.

It has become clear why this place has so many bad reviews. They give customers not what the customers ordered, but whatever they feel like. On 2023.12.07 evening I was asked "battered or plan sausage". I selected "plain". I got battered. Why ask then? Here, take a 1 star. You deserve it. This is permanent and absolute.

Food cold when asked for temperature check probe there reply was they don’t have one and don’t check

Ordered via just eat at 2.30. Order confirmed estimated delivery 3.15. By half 3 I phoned and was told I wasn’t getting it, no drivers (then why accept the order?) and was told her a refund through just eat. Just eat kept getting us to phone the takeaway. I phoned back and explained that just eat said they can cancel the order and refund the money taken. I also asked why are they open to take orders and accepted it if they can’t do it? Was told ‘don’t know’. I asked for them to refund and was flat out told no. And hung up on! I originally asked to speak to someone else and was also told now cause I couldn’t understand a WORD he was saying.

Ordered by phone for collection told 10 mins for 2 doner meat n chips . When arrived at the shop I got told my food wouldn't be ready for another 15 mins. This isn't the first time this has happened but it will be the last. The owners are rude towards customers and towards there young staff

U still get large chips for under 3 pounds

Keep giving this place a chance since they were taken over but I have to say that its the worst chip shop I have ever been too.. Food is awful and cold Service to walk in customers off the scale bad...All they think about is delivery drivers who take over the place ordered 2 peices of fish and chips which took the one person serving 25mins to serve me and the fish had been in the display all that time hence stone cold when consumed My advice go over to Herlington 2mins away for quality food and customer service

This is a shame that I have had to write this but I have waited over 90 minutes for my delivery only to be told its on its way over and over again. When it reached 2 Hours I asked for the truth and they told me their driver had gone missing and they have no idea how long my delivery would be. So I asked for a refund only to be told the owner is out of the country and they would need to ring him first. This is crazy I paid online via their website with my card so should be a easy refund. In the end I had to walk round to the shop and get my money back which they had to pay in cash because they could not use the card machine. Its a shame as its a local business but I will never order from them again and its the fact that they continued to lie to me instead of just being honest.

Delicious fresh fish and chips. Good portions and fresher and nicer than I've had served up in some restaurants! 5/5

The closing time online and on the website shows 9.45, we arrived just before 9.30 hoping for some chips to be told they were closed.

Brought food tonight was cold tasteless donor meat tasted to salty mint yoghurt was like runny slope disgusting

Ordered 1 coke & 2 halloumi wraps, no coke with order & halloumi wrap had batter mix in which tasted like sausage which being a vegetarian left me no choice but to put them in the bin, hugely disappointing

Waited over an hour for food via just eat canceled in the end and got a full refund, this place don’t even deserve one star as they couldn’t even get the food to me 0/5 for me !!!!!!!

Ordered senior meal and large fish got it and the fish wasn't worth 7.99 it was like a fish finger

Since Dev Singh sold this Chip Shop to the Premier Newsagents owner this place has gone from bad to worse in Hampton Vale. I saw tonight with my own eyes how an Asian older woman spoke to staff like a piece of dirt. They where 3 lovely polite young girls working in there tonight who didnt deserve to be spoken to like that. she does not have people or customer skills, the way she spoke to the 3 young girls working there was disgusting, if that was my daughter I would not be happy, I understand they have to learn working life but no amount of pay deserves that treatment or spoken to like she spoke to them poor girls!!! I will not be going back there while that Asian lady is working there, even the way she speaks and looks at customers is totally disgusting!! I went home so upset for them girls I just hope they talk to there family about what happened.

This will be the LAST time we use this place I’m am sick of waiting hour and half for delivery, way over the quoted time ! I informed them of the trouble last time and they made no effort to correct it this time with food being mildly warm and bloody late again !!!!!!!!!!!

No photos. Chips were frozen and not freshly cut. The battered sausage was good. Very tasty and the scraps were freshly cooked and lovely. Service was good. Cooking area was very clean and so was the shop. Hair nets and clean uniforms were worn. Please start cooking freshly cut chips and abandon the frozen chips. Thank you.

This shop has lost its way, used to be the best around. Overwhelmed and disinterested staff makes for poor service with frequent mistakes. Asked for kebab and the kebab rotisserie was turned off, relit it and served me just 30 seconds later. On another order they forgot about my order which lay for about 15 minutes before hastily handing them over to me - stone cold. Smaller portions too combines to make this shop a waste of time and money. Hampton deserves a decent chippy but this isn't it!!!!

Miserable, uncommunicative counter staff. Nothing is ever their fault. Not the time waiting for orders, cold food deliveries or hairy battered fish. I’d agree with Aaron, Robert Kent, Charlene Clarey, Athina Gibbons, Martin Johnson and Common Rare to name but a few. We can’t all be wrong. A plaice to avoid.

If I could leave ‘0’ as a review I would! The food is good, cannot complain however, the service and attitude of staff is terrible! Walked in and placed an order for large chips, unbattered sausage, 6 chicken nuggets, southern fried chicken wrap, large curry sauce and chicken kebab and I kid you not we were there 50mins later! We eventually started to complain and we were aggressively told that they were dealing with online orders! About 10 people walked in after us and placed an order and walked out within 5mins! Utterly disgusting and disrespectful to which we called her out on it! Fish is normally the culprit for an order taking longer than normal which we didn’t even order! Absolutely disgusting service. Such a shame as the food was good. But never in my life have I had to wait 50mins for a walk in order! Should be ashamed of yourselves!!!

Shocking service, 50 min wait for basic food. Excuse was they had online orders! There should be a queue for food irrespective if it is walk in or online. Staff walking round aimlessly with no purpose. I’ll never return to this shambles of a take away. Wish I could offer 0 stars.

Went in today and was met by a scruffy looking lad that was more interested in his phone. It was a very large order, in the end I said don't worry about it and walked out. Went pizza hut instead.

I have been waiting for over 20 minutes for a simple order. There are at least seven members of staff here. No one communicating, no one taking orders, and people don’t know where to start to queue. It has been like this for years. Management needs to change something because their current system is not working.

Used to be great when Ian and Anthony ran the place, gone massively downhill since then. Such a shame as the food used to always be reasonably priced and delicious. If you like hair in your food then order from here, happened too many times now and not ordering from here again. A hair net isn't that expensive is it? None of the ladies were them, no idea how they pass hygiene rules.

Got fish n chips and a kebab. Fish just been cooked so hot but chips and kebab stone cold. Tasted ok but being cold has put me off from returning. As other customers have said , staff seem miserable and not engaging.

This kebab cost me £6.50. They've significantly reduced their sizes without informing customers, I had to literally scream at the manager on the phone to get them to send me a reasonably sized kebab. After 5+ years of eating here I will no longer be doing so.

Missed a sausage on the order when i payed for 3 and received 2 . The chips were stale but curry sauce was nice

I haven't been here for years and thought that I'd get a portion of chips after a long day. Really wished I hadn't. No acknowledgement by the staff, so left standing for ages when no one else was in the queue and 4 members of staff around, one on their mobile! Only 2 of the 4 TV screens were working so couldn't see the price. The screens that were working had smears on them, obviously not having been cleaned in ages. When I eventually got the chips they were hard and crunchy although they were hot.

Rubbish service, completely ignored by staff, this used to be a great chippy but sadly needs new staff who actually know how to serve customers

I had never used this fish and chip shop before. Last night was the first time and it was disgusting! I literally had two chips and threw the rest in the bin. What a waste of money!

Only because I was starving and had to drop daughter's friend if nearby that we called in to get a late dinner the chips go very dry very quick and very bitty the one star Is for the battered sausage which was good but there it stops The staff if they cracked a smile and actually had some customer interaction and me as the customer don't have to grab one for there attention to get served and tell them what I want so I get served ,when I got there was a couple sitting waiting for there order looks like they had been there a while in fact I may go back to see if they would like to borrow my tent to camp out and wait as the girl who I think was getting there order ready was as fast as a snail going up hill. Just wish I had the money to buy this chip shop and bring it back to life

Ordered Large mixed kebab and chips. Food came quick but on unwrapping naan bread it was mouldy. Purchased food for takeaway at 6pm, still waiting at 7pm, rang the shop- they had no record of the order despite ordering it from their website. They had taken our money, had to go down and collect even though we had paid for delivery, didn't actually eat until gone 8pm. Only offered delivery money back in terms of compensation. Awful service. Will be going elsewhere from now on

Shocking service and will never order from them again. Ordered for delivery at 8pm on Friday evening I imagined a possible delay as Fridays are a chippy busiest day. After an hour waiting i called was told driver just left. Waited another half hour and called again. Woman on the phone was laughing and pretending she couldn't hear me then cut off. Called back again and was told its an issue with the phone, and food will be with me in 10 mins. 40 mins after that the food arrived chips were cold and so was the fish clearly the dregs of what was left behind. I had ordered from elsewhere and had it delivered before this arrived. And no refund was given.

I've never been to a fish shop before where you've bought sausage and chips times 4,and not able to eat any of it. Chips actually unedible. All ended in up in the food bin. WASTE OF TIME AND MONEY WON'T BE GOING BACK!

Awful took money never delivered went to wrong address , didn’t bother to call . Called several times and said would be 5mins. Do not order via food hub or just eat as won’t refund ! Don’t use! Hung up and not interested.

Just ordered fish and chips, battered sausage and fish cake, it arrived late barely warm, the chips were mostly hard little bits, the fish was tired, I think we had lunch time warm ups, won't order there again, don't know where the two cans of Fanta went probably arriving in another car

Ordered from deliveroo - incorrect order, rang, such rude young girl, speaking in their own language between them and then answering my questions, didn’t even apologise or take accountability for the issue. Went there to return the food and whilst confronting this lady about her poor customer service she tried to argue back non-stop. Her manager should have dealt with it from the start as she seemed to be the most competent out of all. Seems like 3 year olds work there with 1 brain cell. Will never return back

Absolutely inedible, the worst chips ever, I can’t even say the worst chips I’ve tasted, as I couldn’t eat them, every single chip was rock hard, maybe someone needs to go in there and teach them how to cook. luckily I only brought a portion of chips so not wasted to much money…Definitely will never go again, however the staff are really friendly so feel sorry for them, when people go in and complain. The one star is for the staff, for their bravery.

Well what can I say I must like punishment.I’ve had orders missing when ordering delivery I’ve been there in the shop,Long cue,standing there like a Wally watching others get there food before me,,as they forgot my order. Kebab flew everywhere as the worker bumped into a colegue,another wait. Today capped it off.I sent my wife to get the order. She came back with cold chips,very stupid small pale Kebab and asked for large. Etc I phoned them but they can’t hear me. I went down there with my Pale Kebab Got a good cooked Kebab this time with cooked hot chips I told them they will never have my money again. They said thank-you. I told them you shouldn’t thank me. You should be concerned as you’ve lost a customer and probably many others.

Ordered via Uber eats turned up eventually after an hour, missing fish, no point phoning as it took over an hour to get food delivered pies and chips cold. Not best first order will not be using again.

We’ve been regular customers for couple years now at least but had enough now, gone downhill fast last few months. Last 2 times I’ve been in there found them rude with long waits. Ordered fish chips and drinks tonight, drinks didn’t arrive, was told no drivers just get refund on website, couldn’t get it working so rang back, Managers words after I said I’ll just pick up the drinks: “Oh my god if your going to mess me about can’t you just go on the website” 15 minutes later drinks turned up, food wasn’t great though…

Spotlessly clean throughout, friendly staff, excellent friendly service, generous sized portions, freshly cooked piping hot excellent quality food great value definitely recommend

Ordered for delivery and it arrived 1hr 10mins later. Good portion size but not very hot. Ordered regular fish and chips, large cod and regular chips, battered sausage, Dutch smoked sausage. Battered sausage was very small and greasy and smoked sausage wasn't sent Phoned to say it had been missed out and they agreed to send it out 1hr 50mins later and 2 more calls and sausage arrived . Stone cold and also very small Not impressed at all

If there was a choice not to put any stars then I most certainly would of chose that. Absolutely appalling customer service. I ordered over the phone for a delivery at 19:54 they said it would be an hour. Then at 21:20 I called up again to see what was happening for no one to answer tried again a few minutes later and someone answered and said it was with the delivery driver and would be with me soon. 35 mins later I call again just to be told the same thing. And now another 35 minutes later I still don’t have any food and am really hungry and tired. And to top it off they are now closed and have no way of chasing it up. Would definitely not recommend to anyone. And I certainly won’t be buying from here again

Awful to start with part of my order didn't arrive, then the food came with undercooked pale chips, my kebab wrap tasted nothing like kebab especially the chicken part which seemed to be cooked in something just tasted awful was a let down the only thing that was good was the size portions but thats irrelevant if the food tasts that bad that you dont even want to eat it

Very rude, they missed an item off of our order, told me it was not possible when I called and hung up on me, I called back and was again told it was not possible, they refused to send the missing burger and hung up on me again, would not order from here again, customer service is terrible, looking at the rest of the reviews hanging up on people when their order is wrong is a pattern! Beware

Just bought fish and chips for supper. Large meals, lovely chips and well seasoned fish. Will definitely return. Nice, friendly staff as well. Meal was at a competitive price.

Ordered online at 6:30 for pick up 7 …. Went to pick up order not ready waited 1/2 hour , people walking in getting served quicker and getting food quicker , delivery drivers also getting frustrated as waiting so long , food ok when eventually got it but zero management! Just chaos in there !

Food ordered, 30 min wait drive down after 30 minutes and not even started cooking it. Well over a hour wait still No food, I’m afraid we won’t be back after a loyal customer for years this place is slowly been going downhill, staff not interested in working there so customer service poor.

An hour and a half since ordering call to check up on order and to be spoken to very rudely ask for manager and told not there. Greeted with a yeh! Seriously any etiquette Foods ready but waiting on driver! Still waiting after half hour of the call. So looks like I'll be driving there to get refund

It's disappointing. We were waiting for food for two hours to be delivered. After 1st call (after 1h 10 min) we found out that they even have not started cooking it. When food arrived It was warm but wrapped up very poorly. Chicken wrap was wrapped together with paper, so everything was covered in sauce. Lesson learnt, won't be ordering food from there any more.

My food was 4o minutes late they got the order wrong so paid for food we didn’t even receive and then go hung up on at least 4 times so wouldn’t recommend this place to a tramp.

Ordered Large Fish and chips and Received Small fish and chips. Waited for ages, over heard staff saying that small fish is ready. A couple off minutes later they started to get my order ready. Packing the small fish in stead of a large cod. (Paid for a large) when questioned and pointing out that I no way is this a large fish and that I even heard him saying small fish is ready Got told i was wrong. They just packed a small fish and chips and said have a nice day. Paid £9

It's almost a shame that the food is very tasty, as the customer service is abysmal. I've endured half-hour wait times, incorrect orders and having the people hang up on me after I call about the order being incorrect, saying "what can I do, we are closed, I'm going home" with no refund or goodwill gesture for their mistakes.

Had really bad food poisoning from this place about a month a go and wasn't sure it was this place so didn't leave a review at the time. Having just looked through the other reviews, one said they had the same when they had the fish and that confirms it. I had the fish too and was the same as the prev reviewer, both ends... couldn't keep anything down... worst night of my life ever. I would say just don't order the fish but if they don't concern themselves with keeping the fish hygienic then I can't imagine they do with the rest of the food. Never ordering from here again

No queue system, very long wait times, no food "ready to go". Everything seems to be put in the fryer when you order. And they don't think ahead, they will only think about your order when it's your turn, so you can be waiting 30 minutes for sausage and chips if there are a couple of people ahead of you, because they're busy cooking their food first, and then it's 'your turn'. Food is ok, but they really do need to take a look at how other chippies do it, and work out a way to be quicker.

Great chips and excellent value

Foods good but they are so slow and there is no customer service whatsoever! I always order via website in advance as it’s a 7 person order usually, it says collect in 30 mins, turn up 40 mins later and have to stand there for another 10 minutes waiting! My advice is order for delivery at least then you can just wait at home!!

food uncooked don’t eat at this this hazard of a food place

Really had good good before but never even tasted the following as ordered at 18:20 with knowing an hour wait. Chased them up an hour and half later and told that food ready and waiting on delivery driver. After 50 mins later I called again to be told that it was going to be collected and therefore told them to cancel order as food would have been cold. Awaiting full refund and that after they hung up on me.

Very Poor the staff spoke no English at all and gave us the wrong order. The portion sizes were poor and the quality if the food was awfil certainly won't return.

Blatantly ignored for a good 10 minutes. I would understand if it was busy, but there was only 1 other customer in the shop. Customer service is truly non-existent. Hygiene seemed poor, chose not to bother. Unsurprisingly, other reviews share the same conclusion. I would stay away.

Went there for some proper chip shop chips and wasn't disappointed. Perfect amount of crispness. Not really dry like in some places. Great value for money. Fast service.

Staff member was having a very heated argument with a customer which in my opinion the staff member caused. He then tried to bring me into the argument despite me standing saying nothing. Once the argument calmed down I was refused service and racially abused . "You people" is not a term used in polite society.

Poor packing, long waiting. Verify disappointing, won't order again.

Appaling service. 4/5/6 delivery drivers served before us - one delivery guy came back 4 times before we were served. Waited 45 munutes to be served our scampi and 2 x fish and chips. Chips provided were soggy, small bits and cold. Couldn't eat one fish and chips that night. We put it in the oven the next night to allow us to eat it. Fish was also very thin and poor quality. Large number of other customers were in the same situation as us and were just as annoyed. All items were just thrown in the bag wrapped in paper. The three staff serving didn't seem to know who was doing what! We suggest you train your staff better, or get additional staff. I will certainly not be going here again nor would I recommend it to anyone else.

The fish and chips were great. Salads acceptable and fresh. The decreasing portion sizes when ordering through UBERrrrr Eats is a little annoying otherwise delicious thanks. Probably leave out the UBEREATS next time.
