Frankly speaking, the food is less than normal compared to the price. Every year the level is lower and the price is completely disproportionate to the quality

Really nice and authentic restaurant. The food was 10/10 and quite reasonable priced. Our meal came to £100 which included two starters. 2 mains and a bottle of wine. The only downside is if you sit near the fire there is an awful draft that’s comes through the door.

I had a baby lamb, with rice and finished with lovely deserts. It was phenomenal, so delicious, the service is lovely. Excellent. Especially because it always runs full house but they still have a second to smile I'll back there.

The food is very, very delicious and delicious, but I have a comment on hygiene, as the worker who served us the food covered her nose several times and brought us the bread and covered it with her hand to make sure it was hot. This movement is very disgusting and made me feel disgusted with the food. They also require a mandatory £1 tablecloth cover charge and do not change it after each customer. When I asked to cancel the service fee, the employee told me that he could not and brought the manager to discuss it

The place is ok, but could be much more tasty compared to the greek food I had in Greece. The seftaali kebab/kofte is not the real one but very tasty. Squit on thr grill was verh tasty. Hummus is ok not a special taste. Pidas could be warm. But saganaki is strongly recommended. Tables and chairs are a bit uncomfortable as well as the place is a bit claustrophobic…

Authentic Greek Cypriot taverna. Food was great, same for service and atmosphere. Feels like you are in a traditional village in Greece but you are in Central London. Probably the biggest giant prawns I've ever had.

Charming old school, family run restaurant. A rare find in a world of pret and ivy chains… sadly however after going 5+ times the food and service is now poor. Will not return.

We were very excited to try this restaurant as we heard of its history , we ordered the octopus salad which had a hair on the plate and the tomato ,feta,red onion salad , the tomatoes were massive and had the green stem still attached .we also ordered the Shaftalya and it tasted extremely salty and it's was a Kofta so misleading on the menu, we also ordered lamb kebab and was very fatty and there was a long black hair in my dish and when I advised the waitress she said oh that is not my hair and took the hair with her and smiled and walked off , we ordered rice it was old and dry and the chips we ordered were soo oily and soggy , the food was a total disappointment and it felt that we were being rushed and it's so disorganised and was not a pleasant experience and the prices were high for the quality of the food .We will not be returning nor recommending this restaurant.

i would like to say to the management at the restaurant i found hair on both of my dishes the shaftalya was just kofta and very salty the lamb shish had a lot of fat on it the rice was dry and old and the chips very oily and the tomatos in the salad was huge and still had its green stem on ( tomato,feta and red onion salad ) and i pointed out the large black hair on my dish the elderly greek lady took it out of my dish and said oh that's not my hair and left me to it , I will not be a returning customer and will not recommend it at all

I had been five years ago and I really wanted to go back, it was worth the wait. Although the space is small and always full, the service is super fast and the flavor is spectacular. Mariah took excellent care of us. Super recommended. If you call by phone you are more likely to get a table

We ate here on our visit to London because the reviews sounded good and it looked very good from the outside. I can't understand the good reviews. The service was totally unfriendly, the food didn't taste good and I've never had such a carelessly prepared meal in my life. The prices are simply far too expensive… absolutely not recommended

Nice restaurant for meat lovers

Unfortunately I was very disappointed with the food here. I was looking forward to trying it out but was really let down. Firstly, I'm of Greek Cypriot origin so I know my Cypriot cuisine. The place is quaint and was packed .....but we were probably ly the only Greek Cypriot customers there. That itself should have told be what to expect. No disrespect to the non Cypriot customers but they'll accept what they're given because they don't know what to expect. We had the Meze. It satred with the usual cold dips followed by 1 Dolmada each,a piece of halloumi each, a small plate of Kalamari and a prawn each. So,we wait for the rest of the hot starters....the meatballs, the Greek sausage, other hot starters we'd usually be served at most other Greek restaurants. We wait and we wait but nothing. Along came the main meat part. A small dish containing a couple of chicken wings, some chicken and pork souvlaki and some kofte. If they were supposed to be Cypriot meatballs then they were nothing like it. That was it.....no fruit to follow...nothing. Very small, bland meze. NOT for us Cypriots I'm afraid. If this place was in North London I can tell you not many of our community would go there. May we should have ordered a manin dish as opposed to the meze. I can't comment on the other food but the mezewas NOT a mezeas it should be. If you're reading this and you're a Greek Cypriot, don't expect too much if you go to this place. In a nut shell, this is more of a tourist place, certainly not for anyone used to Greek Cypriot restaurants. Very disappointed indeed!

One of the best greek places in town. Amazing atmosphere but slightly on the higher end of prices. The food was amazing especially the lamb shoulder and the dessert. Thought the calamari could be improved. Overall good recommendation

One word … beautiful…. Classy food, great vibe , good service and owners are involved….. we ordered lamb shoulder with rice and potatoes 5/5… lamb chops 5/5…. Lamb kabab 4/5, chicken soulva 3/5, greek salad 5/5, humus 4/5 tzatziki 5/5….. Simply loved the experience

We booked this restaurant and arrived on time. The waiting area was so packed that we couldn't talk to the reception. By the time it was our turn, the owner said they give out the tables after holding for 10 minutes. We ended up waiting and leaving.

Unfortunately, not a good experience. For the high prices, we expected more – not even a welcome Ouzo was served, which is standard in Greek restaurants. After just one hour, the bill was placed on our table without warning, even though we wanted to order more. This came across as very rude and completely ruined the evening. Definitely not recommended if you value hospitality.

A lot of noise and way too busy, the tables are too close to each other, little atmosphere, the prices on the menu in the restaurant are much higher than on the website.

The Food was fine, service also. Though booking a table for 12.30 on a cold day is not a good idear, the place was cold.

The lamb was amazing! Some of the starters were just ok. The atmosphere was not great as everything was so narrow you couldn't stay comfortable for long.

The best restaurant experience that I can remember in London. The service was EXEMPLARY. The team could not have done more in making myself, and my family feel at home and brought the highest levels of great energy. It was my birthday and it was one of the best birthday meals I have had that I can recall. Kosta (the owner and head chef) was very friendly, approaching our table and chatting with us making us feel very welcome and warm. The waiter we had (I wish I had his name!) was amazing! We had an ice cream cake and Tina and him did their utmost to cut it while frozen, showing great effort and customer service. I honestly couldn't have had a better time at a restaurant. The venue itself is cosy, intimate and a family feel. I love this, and people complaining about this should understand that it's part of the appeal, making Halepi unique. The food was fantastic, we opted for both seafood and meat meze's with the hummus, the chicken thighs, the prawns and the Greek salad being the highlights. I cannot wait to come back again with my family, and friends in the future. Kudos to you all for having us and creating what was a very memorable birthday dinner!

We recently celebrated my son’s birthday at this amazing Greek restaurant, and I cannot say enough good things about it. From the moment we walked in, we were treated with warmth and top-notch service. The food was absolutely delicious—authentic Greek flavours that were perfectly prepared and beautifully presented. The service was beyond exceptional. The staff went out of their way to make our evening special, with everyone being attentive and friendly. A special mention to Tina, who went above and beyond by storing our birthday cake in the restaurant’s freezer from Friday until we needed it on Tuesday! Her kindness and attention to detail really stood out, and we couldn’t be more grateful. The restaurant has been around since 1966, and it’s easy to see why. The owner clearly cares about both his guests and the quality of the experience. It felt like we were part of something truly special. If you’re looking for incredible food, warm hospitality, and a memorable experience, I highly recommend this gem. We will absolutely be back!!

Long waiting times obviously but the guys working there should know that this place is now at top of where they are and they should be more patient and humble even more. Yes it’s good food atmosphere but final touches are the most memorable ones.

Would highly recommend this restaurant, a lovely family run authentic place for delicious food, namely the lamb! We also had the mixed starter which was a great selection of dips, salads and bread. The lamb was the main star of the show, juicy and tender. We had to wait 10 mins or so for our table but the head waitress was very apologetic and she even gave us baklava to make up for it. Overall a lovely experience with delicious food!

Old but gold - if its your first time then just make sure you order what the waiters recommend.

Was very disappointed with the food. Food was bad the restaurant chicken was very very overcooked taste very dry the potato was burnt and taste horrible ,food quality was bad as f. service was poor,I still have full glass for wine and didn’t ask for the bill then they give me the bill ask me to pay ,can see they try to make people eat and pay then go home so they can make more table. Even though we requested, they did not remove the service charge from the bill, they also added a very ridiculous fee called cover price and brought the bill to the table on hand-written paper. I think they do it to avoid paying taxes. When it comes to food, the service is very slow, the ambiance is extremely bad, the place is very small, I will not come again. Definitely

Quality, history and atmosphere in one place

Made a reservation for 1800 but arrived early and we were easily accommodated. Whilst the food here isn’t cheap it is cooked perfectly and of a high quality. The Lamb is delicious!

Ok the food is great, beautifully cooked fish meze par excellence. Starters were good, desert was exceptional. Try the tiramisu and baklava! Well done chef. The service was just about ok but given it was packed tight it was never going to be more so and could easily have been less so. The ambience is great if you’re a fan of 70s decor and sitting on top of other diners… if you care more about amazing food than sitting in a fancy place this is definitely for you. If you want both, give this a miss. As for me and my family we’ll be back! AND so, we went back to enjoy some more of the above... The waiting staff are great, so have upped rating to 4. However, the meze was a big disappointment - the lobster was gone along with the giant prawns, the calamari were tough rubber bands, added was rubbery octopus, the monk fish was dry and overcooked and the scallops (an added 4x£10 each) were raw inside and burnt on top, rest of the dish was fine but not a patch on first visit. The tiramisu was fantastic but the baklava was dry and uninspiring. What a waste of time and almost £300 for 2 (inc a nice bottle of wine). So, based on the first visit would be a regular, based on the last visit, never again. Have reduced 5 start review to 3 now based on 2 visits. Will consider a third visit to decide... and will update you!

I’ve been coming to Halepi since 2015, and possibly earlier when I was a kid! As it has reached more instagram and tik-tok fame as of late, I can say that it hasn’t made it change in its quality taste and value since! There are dishes and food that fits all budget. Its almost always full and you need a booking afew hours before or a day before. If you’re looking for a tasty quick meal you can also request off-menu items like souvlaki pitta or a cypriot soup -avgolemoni (dont tell them i told you). Theres the Halepi Cafe next door also that offers similar tasty small plates in a more relaxed setting if its during a busy lunch.

This restaurant was all hype and no substance. Portions were tiny, especially for the price, and the plates felt carelessly prepared.

I read the great Google reviews as well as the furore on social media about this place. So I decided to take my mum for her birthday. Unfortunately, the experience was really poor and on that basis I wouldn’t recommend. The staff were grumpy, the service was slow and unbothered, and the food was really overpriced for what it was. We paid over £80 which was too much for what we had and we left less than full. In terms of the food, my chicken souvla was over cooked and the food generally lacked flavour and richness. My mother’s main was Doulmades and she only got served 5 pieces and upon complaining they brought over 2 extra pieces. The Greek salad was the best of what we ordered. good but it’s a salad at the end of the day and not even they could get that wrong. I’m rarely baffled by a restaurant’s reviews to this extent. I wouldn’t revisit even if it were on my doorstep.

Busy with good atmosphere. Great choice of well prepared food and friendly service. Will keep coming as there are few good authentic Greek restaurants of this quality food.

The combination of service food and atmosphere makes this place magic. Although I don't live anywhere near Halepi I do make the effort to visit from time to time either with my kids. Mothersday or on my own. It's always great. It's a great place to visit. Recommend all the starters and seafood platter. Haven't tried lamb yet but heard wonderful things about milk fed lamb.

Most fantastic lamb I've tried in London! Will definitely be back! Not the easiest environment to bring babies to though. The restaurant only had one high chair and no space for prams.

I don't understand how it has such a high rating. It has nothing to do with either Greek or Cypriot cuisine. Definitely Turkish food. The salad is the classic one with chopped tomato, onion and all the trimmings and the Turkish tzatziki too. Food full of spices. The waiters are relatively polite but they forget what you tell them and you have to say it a second and third time to be served. The shop is like a box but they have incredibly crammed the tables to fit as many as they can. Finally, it goes without saying that they don't bring a receipt to any table, just the order slip and even though we insisted on a receipt (they held a mini-council looking at us with half an eye) and in the end they brought us a handwritten receipt again. There are many and better options if someone wants to eat Greek cuisine in London.

The order was a leg of lamb, yogurt salad and 2 orange juice The leg of lamb is very, very fatty Delicious yogurt salad We ordered fresh orange juice and they brought us blended orange juice with water The account with the service was very high, 188 pounds

Food is really great and authentic. Service especially by the lady running the place needs some polishing but definitely still worth a visit.

We stay nearby quite often when visiting London, always passing this place but not going in. This time we managed to and did not regret it. The food, was delicious, the helpings very large. As I felt that it wss the best kebab I have had I was determined to finish even though I was full!

What a find. Wonderful traditional Greek cusine in London. The food and service were excellent.

After seeing this restaurant on Instagram we thought we’d give it a try. I’d seen these ‘giant prawns’ and hand dived scallops on a post which looked amazing ! On arrival we were seated and had to call the waitress over after 15 mins to order a drink. We then placed our food order and I ordered 2 x ‘giant prawns’ and 1 Scallop @ £10 each, The food arrived and I was served 2 x standard ‘king prawns’ so immediately complained and was told the ‘giant prawns’ I’d seen on insta were the Mediterranean prawns which were £25 each but not on the menu and I wasn’t advised were available. The ‘baby prawns’ were served with spinach leaves and a watery flavourless sauce which was terrible. We also ordered 2 x roast potatoes and were served 2 potatoes cut in half, which was ridiculous for £5/portion ! I expressed my disappointment and rightly so they took the prawns off the bill which was appreciated. The place is dark and dingy, like stepping back in a 60’s living room and extremely loud. Im all for nostalgia but this wasn’t the best atmosphere. Definitely wouldn’t recommend this restaurant and don’t believe the insta hype ! Over priced and nothing special.

After much hype on social media, we went and had dinner for the first time at Halepi last night. The decor was tired and needed some TLC, and the service was not great from the start, but I put that down to how busy the restaurant was and we proceeded to order our food. To start we ordered a tomato and feta salad, a calamari, an avgolemono soup, taramasalata, tsaziki and two cokes. These were ok other than the soup which was tasteless. For our mains my wife ordered 4 jumbo prawns (£10 per prawn) with chips and i had a mixed souvlaki with 2 skewers of chicken and 1 skewer of pork. The prawns were slimey and tasteless, my wife left more than half of her prawns on the plate. The chicken souvlaki was dry and lacked any other flavour than the charcoal it was cooked over. The pork souvlaki had some over cooked pieces and other pieces were undercooked. We did also try to order re mullet but we're told it had been taken off the menu this evening. A lovely couple seated next to us then explained that they had in fact just had red mullet moments before and had returned it to the kitchen as it had an odd bitter taste and as a result that is why the red mullet had been taken off of the menu. We finished off with a cup of mint tea and English breakfast tea got the bill and left. The bill was £165 for the items I mentioned above which in my opinion regardless of whether the food was good or not, is expensive and not worth the money. The sad thing is, Halepi has been there since the 1960s when my family were all settled locally in the west end. My grandmother and my father used to eat there frequently. Sadly, it did not live up to its illustrious history and we will not be returning for dinner again.

AVOID AT ALL COST! the food is definetely not traditional - small portions and nothing special. BEWARE they put different prices on the bill hoping that customer doesn’t see it and when you call them out they tell you to never go back to the restaurant! haha ! We were a group of 6 people and we were all extremely dissapointed - this restaurant is a trap and there are lots of reviews saying it - unethical and unproffessional to say the least.

We went because of the recommendations and reviews. It seemed overwhelming to me, many tables in a place that didn't even fit. There is no type of privacy, you are eating with people next to you or in front of you. I thought the food was overpriced. The truth would not return.

1. It's very rude staff for not having booked. 2. Don't go to the toilets if you want to dine in. They are very dirty. 3. I found human hair in my dish, and the waiter told me that it was rosemary and unbelievable. 4. They charged me for my cover when I couldn't eat as the lamb had human hair. Totally unfriendly staff, they became friendly as I found human hair in my dish. Definitely, no hygenic at all.

As honest, direct, as fresh as you will find. No frills, no foam but the meat Meze, some 14 courses at £36.00 is in my 60 year experience in West London almost certainly the best value available. An absolute institution. My 50th; my Stag Party here, God knows how many meals here & seated next to from Royals to backpackers. My late Father came here with all three wives & every mistress. Enough said. 👏 🇬🇷 🇨🇾

Ordinary restaurant with good food

It's a cozy but crazy place. Food is out of this world. The lamb melted off the bone and it tasted incredible. The kebabs were good. The tzatziki was probably the best I've ever had. Definitely need to check it out.

Nice food but the whole experience was let down by feeling rushed to leave - they had clearly overbooked for the evening and we were in for a total of 1 hour (including starters) because the staff were clearly waiting for us to leave / hovering around. We could unfortunately hear and see! It’s a shame because the food was great but wouldn’t recommend if you want to relax and enjoy the experience, or are there for a special occasion. Sorry Halepi!

Although a small space inside, it gives it alot of character. Food was excellent, gave me a taste of Cyprus’s culinary delight. Even met the mother chef. Absolutely loved the experience here. Made me miss my side of the world. Atmosphere was buzzing. Place was fully booked. Make sure you book in advance especially on a weekend.

The food is delicious. Would have been a much better experience and not noticed the high prices if the service had been better, though. Three people had to ask our waiter to take our order, which happened about 20 minutes after we sat down. It then took a long time for our food to be served which was brought in parts: two members of our family had already finished eating before the food arrived for the other two. We got the appetizer, which was tzatziki until the end and we still had to remind them/wait for the pitta to eat it with. We did not enjoy our experience.

Disappointing Experience - Not Worth the Hype I visited Halepi Greek Restaurant in London after seeing a viral Instagram video from the influencer EatingWithTod. The video made the food look incredible, and I was excited enough to drive an hour to try it. Unfortunately, the experience did not live up to the hype. First, this restaurant is advertised as offering "authentic, traditional Greek food," but nothing about my meal felt authentic. I even found a literal stone in my salad! When I brought it to the attention of the waiter, she apologized and said she’d inform the manager, but there was no follow-up or proper acknowledgment. We ordered the fish meze for two and kleftiko. The fish platter was overcooked and honestly quite disappointing. The only dish that tasted decent was the kleftiko. To top it off, the waiter (who might have been the manager) accidentally dropped a plate beside us while clearing a table, spilling chips all over the floor. The restaurant itself is very small and extremely busy. The entrance has two curtains on either side, and since the door doesn’t close properly, the cold draft constantly hit anyone sitting near the curtains — not a pleasant experience. It felt like the place was packed with people who, like me, were lured in by the Instagram video. However, based on my experience, I believe the influencer was likely paid for the promotion, as nothing in the restaurant matched the quality shown in the video. Overall, I was incredibly disappointed, and at £160, this meal was far from worth the price. I expected so much more.
