Halepi in City of London, Westminster

We had a wonderful dinner at Halepi — the atmosphere was truly charming, and the warm welcome made the experience even better. We especially enjoyed chatting with Abbas, whose service was outstanding, and with Maria, the PhD student working in the kitchen. She was incredibly kind and shared that she’s expecting a baby in about two months — wishing her all the best! The ambiance was lovely, and although the bill was on the higher side, the overall experience was absolutely worth it. A place definitely worth visiting!

Crowded resturant but very tasty food

The king of Saudi Arabia has been here three separate times, and not for nothing. Get the slow-cooked baby lamb. Even if you don’t like lamb you will love this.

Encouraged to upgrade my initial choice. It was good but not necessary to encourage customers to spend more. Told that I couldn’t opt for salad instead of potato, chips or rice. Reluctantly agreed to do so when I informed of medical condition. Asked for sparkling water and only available in large bottles. Other customers appeared to be having a better time. I think this place is better than my experience but I won’t be back. At least I was hydrated!!

The reception is nice from the owner himself, and at night it is crowded. It is small, with about 10 tables, and the quantities of food are small. My account was 100 pounds (service fee is fixed, 12 pounds, or 12%). My requests were: The French fries 10/3 were full of oil and had a clear consistency Hummus 10/8 is delicious and fresh Moussaka 10/7 It is clear that it is not fresh, but it is sweet and the meat in it is good Grape leaves 10/10 The most delicious grape leaves I have ever tasted, stuffed with rice and minced meat. Chicken kebab 10/2 (it is shish tawook and not cooked White rice 3/10, its quantity is very small and tasteless I haven't tasted a vegetable soup to be honest, but it looks delicious Overall a nice experience but I wouldn't repeat it

We've seen this place on social media. The meze is the worst in London for sure. Dips were nice, but the rest was below average. Our pork, chicken and bifteki were all raw. Bleeding!!!! ½ of the dishes you see on IG are not in the meze. Restaurant was cramped, toilets were FILTHY, service was poor and it's very much running on insta fame. 100% do no recommend.

Halepi is a classic spot with real history — even Princess Diana and King Soliman have visited! The place has an old-school charm and the staff are super friendly and welcoming. We had the Greek salad , fried Calamari and the milk-fed lamb shoulder for two — it was perfectly cooked and full of flavour. A bit on the pricey side, but worth it. I’ll definitely be coming back!

We went to the restaurant for my wife’s birthday after seeing an influencer’s review on instagram but we had a terrible experience. This was very sad as it was our first day out after a brutal 5 months in new baby world. Due to travel disruption on the tube we were late for our booking by 30 mins but let the restaurant know and they were fine with it. When we arrived they said they would require the table back in 1hr 15 mins, not ideal but we thought would be ok. However, it took 20 mins for someone to come and take our order for drinks, so we ordered food at the same time. The bread and dips arrived pretty quickly and were nice but as we were finishing off eating our starter (~40 minutes in) they said we were being too slow and had to move us to a different table in the restaurant. I’ve never experienced that before! They move us right into the corner and I don’t think it was really even supposed to be a table. We were by the wines, paperwork and about a million electrical points and extension leads, it was actually quite an impressive amount of cabling tbf. If we needed the toilet we had to physically move the table to get out! Our mains were served at this point and while eating them the staff were constantly reaching over us to get the card machine, which was housed where we were eating. There was quite a lot of arguments going on between the staff, which made for good entertaimment while piling in our food under constant time pressure. One of the waitors was really rude and kept taking stuff away even though hadn’t finished eating it. We finished the meal in about 15 minutes due to this rush and were out of the restaurant just over 1hr after we’d begun. The food was also pretty average, good flavours but the chicken kebab was overcooked. Horrendous experience overall, don’t go here. It’s well overpriced and some of the staff don’t really want you to be there. You seem like an inconvenience.

Great Greek restaurant. Hamus was perfect. Lamb thighs were tender, juicy, and perfectly cooked. I will come back again for sure.

The food was really nice and the main courses were generous. We will go back to visit again next time we are in the area. Remember to reserve if you want to order their large meat dishes. It is really popular.Booking is essential.

Order: Shoulder with rice and potatoes (price: 85 pounds) 10/10 Enough for two people comfortably. The food is delicious, the Greek salad was very salty and ordinary. A reservation is required, and the reason for not rating 5/5 is that the tables are next to each other and the service is a little slow due to the crowding and the small place.

We found out about the restaurant through social media and decided to try it. We ordered some food, but honestly, the quality was very average. The portion size compared to the price was not fair at all. It feels like they’re just taking advantage of people. I really wouldn’t recommend

Excellently cooked lamb, I had the milk fed lamb shoulder for two. It was delicious and enough food for two or even three people without the need for any starters or salads.

I took my wife there last night for our 29 anniversary,. The food was absolutely amazing. The fish was cooked so beautiful. It just fell on your tongue. Loved this place! Took advice from other reviewers and made a booking. Service was excellent. We tried the meat mezze and there was so much food! Everything was delicious- salads, dips, pita bread, prawns, lamb, beef, chicken, dolmades. Will definitely be back again, I think this is my new favourite place.

They brought us olives and bread right away and that alone was very good. The lamb I had was excellent and completely falling apart. And at the end, they brought us these little jelly candies ☺️. We enjoyed it very much.

Lamb chops and the rice and the greek salad is the favorite

The best lamb i had in my life! Rice was nice and buttery, melts in your mouth. Meat falling off the bone, and for some reason the lamb also tastes a little like duck in a great way. Soft tender meat falls off easily and the grilled skin is soo oooo good with the rice and sauce. Top it up with pita bread and hummus and you will be sent to food heaven.

Never trust a social media picture again, soggiest chips and driest lamb I’ve had. For the price you pay it’s so not worth it.

Traditional Greek/Cypriot restaurant with a tavern decor that takes you to a Greek village. We visited it on Easter Sunday (all with a reservation) and were very satisfied. The only thing that partly displeased us was that it had a specific menu for that day, which is reasonable. The fact that while there was no vegetarian dish on the menu, when I informed them that I don't eat meat, they offered me cooked dishes which were also delicious, was very pleasing indeed. The prices vary, we paid more than 60 pounds per person.

Some of the food is quite nice for example the lamb skewers and rice, the milk lamb is nice and tender too. I do think however overall everything could do with more flavour - particularly the calamari which was really quite poor. Value wise it’s okay, and the lamb spring rolls were quite nice. Overall not bad at all but defo room for improvement.

Organised a dinner with a party of 40 people and Kostas and the rest of the team have been absolutely fantastic! They accommodated last minute changes with extreme kindness, the service was super professional (they remembered who had specific dietary requirements) and the food was very good! The mix of starters and mains in the set menu provided really good value for money. Highly recommended. Thanks again to Kostas and the amazing staff for the wonderful night, will be back soon!

My mum and I are travelling from Australia and stopped in at the closest place open to bring something back to our hotel and it was the best decision we’ve made on our trip thus far. We only ordered one portion of the lamb kebab and a side of mixed vegetables but it was enough for the both of us and soo delicious. The restaurant was homey and warm and everyone working was very accomodating and friendly. We’ll definitely be returning before we head home :)

The food was absolutely delicious, and the restaurant has a cozy, welcoming atmosphere. The service was outstanding! I especially loved the dolma and shish tawook both were full of flavor and perfectly cooked.

The food is good, but nothing special. I have eaten in better Greek/Cypriot taverns. Hardly any space to move in the restaurant, we are all packed. Overpriced for sure. London is expensive in general, but this restaurant is very pricey even for London, and definitely does not reflect the quality of the food/experience.

I finally got to this place yesterday and sadly, it was a huge disappointment. Honestly, I have no idea what the fuss is all about. The food was incredibly bland, so I was immediately disappointed as that's not what Greek food is all about! When I complained about the tzatziki not having enough garlic, the waiter agreed but did nothing about it. The large octopus salad was served in a cereal bowl and it was boiled?! Hardly enough for 1 person, nevermind 3. And when the lamb spit arrived, it was 2 big pieces of meat that tasted like............nothing. The roast potatoes were made up of a medium sized potatoe cut into 3 pieces, with no rosemary or olive oil. In a nutshell, it was pre-made food that was just awful! Nothing special at all. Finally, the bill. £210 for 3 people. Besides the shitty food, we had a bottle of wine so nothing extravagant. It's an absolute ripoff. Don't waste your time or money, it's simply not worth it. The place is also tiny, yet they cram so many people into it. I'm sure it's a fire hazard as you can hardly move. And it really needs a refresh, I doubt it's ever been refurbished. It looks old and dirty. Don't be fooled by the comment that it's traditional. It's not.

I been before to be honest I don’t like to put a review but this time I’m disappointed the service was not good the lamp was really really small without nothing and to salty the soflaki was really dry and not tasty

A very rude and haughty lady received us bribing about how full of reservations they where and that so sorry couldn’t take us but in a very RUDE way! Anyhow, we discovered CERU 6 min away and has way better rating in Google and food was AMAZING!!! Don’t even bother to stop at Halepi

A friend booked this place and I would highly recommend it the food and service was on point. I had the Kleftoko and was stuffed. I took a piece of their homemade Honey Cake home and I really enjoyed that as well.

Service was nice and friendly but that's where it ends. Food had literally no flavour. I used to live in Greece and the food is so much nicer there. Seats are too close with people bumping me like 10 times within an hour. Overall expensive place with below average flavour.

Very fast service, we came with two people without booking at around 20.30 on Sunday evening. We're seated in less than 5 minutes. The food was delicious and the service was quick and friendly. Atmosphere is very authentic Greek and has nice traditional music.

Beautiful cosy place, food was magnificent. We got a large greek salad and a couple of small sides with olives and bread to share between two and it was all fresh, filling and delicious. Highly recommend for lovers if Greek cuisine.

An accidental find just off Hyde park. Great food and fantastic service. But what sets this place apart is the taverna vibe and that eclectic staff flying around serving diverse customers. Don't go for the food go for the cultural experience.

Food is nothing special and bland, a lot of room for improvement. The service was slow and I was trying to get the attention of the waiters to get some salt and I couldn't get it. No alcohol free drinks available which limítate the people who want to enjoy their meals with something else that water. The place is cozy and original but it could pay better tribute to the greek gastronomy.

I was there 2 years ago and ate the best kebab and the best garlic sauce in my life, we went there by accident because it smelled delicious in the whole street. If I ever visit London again, it will be mainly for this restaurant. I hope the chef with long hair still works there, he is a master of cooking. The service is very nice and its cozy inside. General view is not bad 1) Meze’s are quite small 2) A bit expensive ( if you compare to the other Greek’s ) 3) So crowded 4) So noisy 5) Tables are so closed to each other. 6) Foods are average 7) Staff is almost ok 8) Ambiance is ok Do I go next time? Hmmm I don’t think so.

My froend take me to that restaurant. I was not expecting too much but i was wrong. We started with amazing greek salad. Than have chicken soup and minestrone. For main dish we take lamb and chicken souvla. We were told that lamb was great and it is indeed but chicken was above all expectation.

Incredibly good restaurant with Mediterranean and Cypriot cuisine, with an exceptional setting that takes you on a trip to the Mediterranean. They have an extensive menu where they offer typical Greek, Lebanese, etc. dishes. As for the staff, they were very friendly, helpful and very professional, we liked that a lot. Everything is neat and clean and the seats were comfortable. As for the food, the 'beef stifado' 10/10. Highly recommended, because it was incredible, very tender, smooth, the sauce extremely good. We also ordered 'chicken kebab' with roast potato, and it tasted very good, however the chicken and potato were a little dry. Otherwise everything was great, the location was excellent and the price was normal for the area.

As read on other reviews, we concur that you need to be skinny to go to this place. My Greek wife and I went as a family of four with a baby. Our son said he could not taste the meat. The salad was marinated nothing ‘special’ other than the price. No facilities for baby changing and people are crammed in like sardines. The fittings and layout of the restaurant are beyond old so no investment made for decades into this restaurant and this is passed off as ‘authentic’. Bills are hand written …

Muy animado y un gran ambiente. Habíamos visto lo ocupado que estaba cuando pasamos la noche anterior, así que reservado con antelación. Mi escalope de ternera era delicioso, pero el marido encontró su kebab de cordero un poco seco sin salsa. Realmente aprietan a los clientes, así que prepárate para eso.

Finally tried Halepi, and I wish I had found it sooner! I’ve lived in the area for a while and somehow never came across it, but I’m so glad I did. The Greek food was amazing, and the portions were really generous. The house Greek salad was so fresh, and the marinated tiger prawns were definitely a favorite. We tried a variety of dishes, and everything was great. The atmosphere is super cozy, which just makes the whole experience even better. Would absolutely recommend and will definitely be coming back!🦑❤️

Really tasty lamb chops and lamp in the oven. I can visit there just for the meats however no one makes me believe a bottle of ouzo is 120£ if the price is £15 in the supermarket. It’s £70 even in the most expensive Greek restaurant in London. The restaurant overall is reasonable price but I’m not sure if I try here when I gather my loves with an Ouzo spirit.

Food was brilliant, venue was cosy, the service was friendly but lacked in attentiveness (had to be reminded about drinks and bread a couple of times), though it was a full restaurant at peak time on a Saturday night. Either way, would certainly recommend!!

Excellent experience. Lovely staff. This is an intimate restaurant not far from Queens way - worth booking as it gets busy. We had the lamb (klefticon) and hallumi both of which were excellent. Balaclava for dessert was also a good choice.

Arguably the best restaurant I've been to in London so far, delicious good quality food in large portions and good meat and fish. Group of 8 and had a feast. got the maze meals for 6 and there were 8 of us and we got meze starters with pita, and then big plate of fish and meat. really good. and great atmosphere. loved it. will return and 100% recommend.

Closest I can get to home in Greece. Halepi is by far one of the best Greek restaurants I’ve had the pleasure to visit in London. Do not skip on the lamb shoulder and its trimmings, and I 100% recommend the aubergine salad. Phenomenal. Will be returning at the next opportunity!!

Incredibly homely, both in atmosphere and food. This will become a regular favourite haunt of mine.

My money was not good enough to eat here. My husband and I stopped by after a day of exploring for dinner. We waited by the door for 10 minutes before someone decided to approach us. That whole time, we just stood there like two big Barneys looking at each other and the server. When we we finally greeted, we were told that there was a private event and that there was no space for us. Understandable if that was the case. They had a large party that was celebrating a birthday and a few couples scatter on different tables but not a private event. Plus there were 4 empty tables to which we assumed reservations since it was ‘a private event’ We said no problem and wouldn’t mind placing an order for take out. They said, ‘ we don’t do that in person. You can call and place and order.’ As he proceeds to hand me a business card. So we left on our 1 minute walk to our stay and I called them. And called them, and called them and called them for 15 minutes and no one picked up. Mind you, the walk to the restaurant is 1 minute away. So after 20 minutes, I walked back to the restaurant and the place was empty. As in the big group for “private event” was gone and 3 tables of couples were left. I proceeded to ask to place an order for take out and was told I had to call. I explain I’ve been trying for 15 minutes and when the man picked up his phone, they have the phone off the receiver so it wasn’t even gonna ring. At this point, the man let me place my order and I said I’d be back in 20 minutes. I returned 20 min later for our food. Basically unseasoned food that was extremely oily. We ended up throwing the food and our money away and ordered from another place. The two starts for food cause their salad was alright. Save your money and the feeling of being unwanted if you’re a reason of ethic minority.

Really poor experience. Incredibly overpriced, food was quite bland and a lot of the dips in the starters section are not freshly made. Do not buy the kalamari, it’s from frozen and it’s terrible to chew. The lamb was very underwhelming. The portions of rice and chips were insultingly small. Worst of all was the aggressive old lady that is borderline neurotic and incredibly rude. PS. That is not how you cook saganaki, that is not how you make melitzanosalata, nor how you cook kleftiko. Doubt that Greek or Cypriots visit that place more than once.
