Gurmani Cafe Georgian Restaurant in Haringey

Food was really good, but I think it is a bit overpriced. The food is really the only thing to compliment. We were eight of us and had to constantly ask for service. I don't think the waiter came once to ask if we wanted to order food or drinks. When it came to paying and splitting the bill, the waiter clearly showed his annoyance. It is a shame that nothing, not even the music, is Georgian, so the ambience isn't great.

We were there on Valentine's Day 2025. They were not prepared for the number of people. We waited for more than 15 minutes just to get someone’s attention while the waiters were chatting and laughing with each other. People were being moved to different tables during their meals. Plates were being passed over my head. We waited an incredibly long time for our order. There was a clear sense of disrespect towards the customers. The only positive thing – the food was absolutely delicious.

Good wine, tasty khachapuri and shkmeruli. However, we did not like khinkali, chakapuli and the mezes, because of the strong coriander note, definitely ask for not putting coriander if you don't like it.

The restaurant is quite small with a simple decor. It wasn't very busy so we enjoyed the quiet atmosphere. The food was tasty. However, the menu was quite small, with some dishes unavailable to order. We've got Aubergine Rolls, Chashushuli (beef stew), Ojakhuri (pork with potatoes), salad and Pelamushi for dessert. Out of two mains, the beef stew was better, very reach and full of flavour. The pork was nicely cooked too, but flavour was not very soffisticated. The service was slow and not very enthusiastic.

This restaurant is a hidden gem! The food is absolutely delicious, with rich flavors and perfectly cooked dishes. The atmosphere is warm, cozy, and inviting. A perfect place for a unique dining experience!

I'd put 5 stars, but waiting staff needs to be a little bit more on top of things - no particular urgency or notable service. It wasn't that anyone was rude per se, but I'd appreciate a little bit of pro-activity rather than needing to follow them around. The food is outstanding by the way, so if you're a foodie, you're up for a treat.

Khachapuri is not bad. Khinkali were not bad either but the spices were quite strong. Not the ones I’m used to. Napoleon dessert was fantastic! The service could be way better and more welcoming; perhaps a smile would help. Waiters didn’t look very happy or enthusiastic about their job. Good price though.

Amazing service, amazing food! I’ve tried many Georgian restaurants and this one is definitely top two! Me, my partner and now my family have visited three times and will be coming back soon. :)

It's always interesting to try out a new cuisine and having not had many experiences with Georgian food I thought I'd try this place out. They have a concise menu with their dumplings being a speciality. The dumplings were huge and reminded me of large mushrooms, the server recommended to pick up the dumpling and suck out the juice inside. The meat inside was a little dry and lacked flavour definition. The dumping casing was quite thick and I didn't fall in love sadly. I also had their cheese filled khachapuri which was nice, the cheese was oozing and mild in taste. I went for a main of lamb stew with tarragon, white wine and sour plum. I didn't taste much lamb flavour from the meat but it was very tender with an excellent texture. Fatty chunks that were well rendered , tarragon added a nice fragrant aroma and taste. There were touches of acidity but I think for me it was the seasoning and greens that really elevated the dish. Pleasant but nothing out of the ordinary especially considering how close you are to Green lanes . I tried a sweet red wine which complemented the food nicely, great tannic structure with a full body . The dessert was a traditional grape pudding , I could taste the flour and I didn't enjoy the bitter flavour that was bordering on astringent . Overall and think the cheese dish was the highlight and for the price paid it felt somewhat of a let down. London is tough , we're all out there seeking new culinary experiences and value propositions . This place missed the mark on my visit so the search continues

What a lovely restaurant! We had the Adjarian khachapuri, pkhali, and two dishes of khinkali (pork and mushroom). All delicious (I’ve been to Georgia and pour my income into Georgian restaurants across London so have a good comparison set yum). The music was at just exactly the right level (80s/alternative) so it added to the buzz and was still easy to hear my dining companion. Cosy/modern vibe helped by the art work. Staff were friendly and attentive too. Highly recommended; easy to reach on the Piccadilly line.

I’ve booked a table for Valentine’s Day in this place. Food was delicious , wine was very good as well, but service was really bad. Team members couldn’t find my booking first , than they’ve asked me twice about on which name was booking (after we sat down). One of waiters was obviously annoyed on costumers, which is very unprofessional. We were waiting for menus around 10 minutes, no one came to us, so we just ask about it. From 3 positions I wanted to order only 1 was available. We were a bit surprised that two team members was passing plates and tablets between us (plates form different tables), than they were doing this over our heads. Please, make sure your team members know how to do service. Thank you to chefs of kitchen, because food was really really good.

Ate here a while back on a weekend lunch. They hadn't opened despite it being past opening time. Should have heeded this warning. We didn't feel very welcome. Owner doing the books on a nearby table, unpleasant atmosphere. Food was ok, not my kind of thing, Georgian comfort food. Perhaps more of an evening place.

This was my first experience with Georgian food, and overall, it was a success! We chose all vegan options for our meal. The starters were delicious, especially the Lobiani. The meze and salad were also good, but the mushroom dumplings, while flavorful, were slightly bland as a main dish. The vegan dessert, Pelamushi, was okay but somewhat disappointing; it resembled Malabi without the toppings. The service was mixed. We had to wait about half an hour for our starters, and no one came to give us an update or an apology. However, the waitress was friendly and hospitable, while another waiter seemed grumpy, short in communication and barely bothered to give us a table to sit at when we came. Overall, it was a positive and tasty experience, regardless of the service issues.

Hidden gem! I've been here 3 or 4 times with friends and loved it so much I booked it for my birthday for a table of 16. The food was delicious, especially the Khachapuli, Shkmeruli & Khinkali dumplings and aubergine rolls. There are also so many vegetarian options - its q rare to find this many proper mains that are vegetarian, so that was great for my vegetarian friends. Service brilliant, rly friendly staff and even though there were so many of us the food came quickly, was steaming hot and delicious. We were there on a Saturday night- was busy, but relaxed - we stayed for a gd few hours and weren't rushed at all. It's one of my favourite resteraunts in area and will definitely return - i need to try more of the dishes! V reasonable priced - we got way more than we could eat and drink for under £50 each

It’s quite disappointing that we chose this particular place because we went there to celebrate my husband’s birthday. It was just a family dinner, but we wanted it to be nice. We chose this restaurant among other Georgian ones because the Google reviews were good, with a rating of 4.9 stars. That’s why I decided to leave my feedback, as it doesn’t match reality. The place is very simple and small. The food was good—not everything was perfect, but overall, it was decent. However, the atmosphere was so unpleasant that I still can’t believe we ended up in such a situation in London, where the atmosphere and friendliness towards guests are very important. The music was playing softly, and right next to us sat two men who appeared to be connected to the restaurant—possibly owners or administrators, they were sitting facing the guests. The only waitress in the restaurant, who was serving all the tables by herself, was constantly talking to these men in Georgian. So, these men just sat there observing everything—how people ordered food, ate, and so on. When the waitress took our order, she was also talking to them, and we didn’t understand what it was about. Then they all started laughing, and we had no idea why. We felt like test subjects, with no comfort whatsoever. It gave the impression that we weren’t welcome there, and that they were just doing us a favor by serving us. Additionally, our empty plates were not cleared away. We were eating our main courses and celebrating my husband’s birthday surrounded by empty plates, as you can see in the photo. The plates were only taken away after we had finished everything and asked for the bill. Clearly, we won’t be going back, though I’m sure the owners don’t care. This review is not for them but for other people searching for a nice place, so they don’t make the same mistake we did.

The სოკოს ხინკალი was amazing! They have a lot of good options for vegetarians, and the wine was delicious. Will definitely go again if I find myself in London again! The sercive was great, and it was fun to chat with the people there!

This was my second time trying “kachauri,” and it exceeded my expectations. This dish features a perfectly crispy exterior bread with a flavorful filling with mozzarella and feta cheese plus butter and an egg. I am now a fan of this dish and can confidently say this is an excellent place to experience authentic Georgian cuisine. If you haven’t tried “kachauri” yet, it’s a must-try specialty that showcases the rich culinary traditions of Georgia.

We've been meaning to visit Gurmani for ages and so pleased we finally did. Great atmosphere, lovely music, welcoming staff and FANTASTIC food with so many vegetarian and vegan options! We had the lobiani, megruli khachapuri, mezze (four pkhalis), Georgian salad, the honey cake, Georgian pear lemonade and a glass of rose. The food was fresh and delicious, we loved the dough based dishes and the fresh salad. Shout out to the honey cake - not too sweet, not too dense, not too moist - just right. We're so glad we live only a short walk away, and will be coming back again. Highly recommend! Thank you for a wonderful meal 😊

Worst experience ever!! I'm planning to visit this place long time now, finally i made it and I completely disappointed, 1. Stuff completely not exist the waiter extremely rude, no matter what I ask the waiter told me that didn't exist, is like he didn't really want to serve me, I ask for he's best plate (Recommendation) and he completely ignored me. by they way I'm Georgian as well and I felt realy bad front of my girlfriend. SHAME!

I didn't imagine I would leave this place and be so unhappy considering how many amazing reviews they have. The service was unsatisfactory, our waiter forgot to bring a salad and mixed one of our drinks. We waited very long for the food and even to get our table cleared and get the dessert. We appreciated the dessert and service charge were taken off the bill. Even so, we paid £47 for 2 mains and a side, a Diet Coke and a glass of wine. Way too much, in my opinion, considering none of us was blown away. I wouldn't recommend the "baby chicken" - it was dry and not a lot of meat. The baby potatoes were dry and tasteless. My partner wanted to order the pork from the menu but they didn't have it. Instead the waiter suggested some sort of pan fried pork with roasted vegetables. What he received was 3 small pieces of pork, again nothing exceptional. This is a real review, I am a foodie so I can't lie and recommend this place based on our experience.

Very pleasant experience with nice but not amazing food, in a small, friendly spot. Came here for dinner, ordered mixed meze , mushroom khinkali, lamb chakapuli, a Georgian salad, and honey cake (all shared between 2 people). Bill was about £30 per head. Mixed meze consisted of 4 pkhalis, minced vegetables with walnut sauce. These were carrot, aubergine, spinach, and beetroot. All were moderately tasty but none stood out. Georgian salad was a standard cucumber, tomato, onion salad with ground walnuts. Good quality ingredients were used, which lifted it, but fundamentally it's a fairly plain accompaniment which met expectations. Mushroom khinkali (dumplings) were tasty, with a little chilli heat, but nothing like as good as a meat dumpling could be. There are pork ones on the menu, I assume they're tastier. It's great that they have a mushroom version on the menu, it's just a shame it's not that good, especially when compared to other Asian dumplings. Lamb chakapuli (stew with tarragon and sour plum) was incredibly tender but very mild and underseasoned. More anise flavour would have been good, likewise more sour plum and more salt. It was a reasonable portion, served with 2 slices of bread, but I'd have expected a little better (and a little more bread) for £20. Honey cake was of the traditional Eastern European/Central Asian variety (i.e. layered). Unfortunately, this one was a little dry, lacking the lactic tang of soured cream, and overly dense. Staff were friendly and attentive, service was relatively good all around. No complaints. There's nothing that puts me off about this place. It had a nice, low-key vibe, everything felt well put together and in general reasonably priced, with a nice, short, menu. It's unfortunate that I just didn't find myself particularly impressed with any single dish.

My friend and I enjoyed our first experience of Georgian food tonight! I am vegan and it was great to see an entire section of the menu devoted to vegan mains. We asked the waiter for his suggestions and so we ended up with the mixed mezze, the aubergine pkhali and the lobio bean stew. All three were excellent and it’s hard to choose a favourite, though perhaps the soft bread was the real stand-out here. We will definitely be back.

And the Honey cake was just three bits of dry pastry poured over with cream and honey!! Very disappointed! Hey there :) Wanna give my honest review about this place! Visit at 06.04.2024 To be short here one best thing about this restaurant is the food it’s really great and delicious! So the main reason why I leaving just 1 star it’s a customer service!!! It’s was not nice and made my experience unhappy! Firstly you waiting long someone to take your order, secondly you don’t get help any help with the menu, the waiter just take your order(as person who try Georgian cuisine for the first time it’s difficult, cause you can even read the dishes name correctly) Then you wait more then 30 min and above, the waiter just come and simply drop the food and you need to figure it out yourself which dish is it 🤯 The main thing WAITER made the mistake when was taking the order and then we received the beer instead of the pear lemonade And then when we call the waiter back she start to BLAME US in asking wrong drink order! 🤬 In final I asked to take the service charge out from my bill, because I didn’t want to pay it after all that customer service make my whole experience for the first time in this place terrible and stuff reaction was so disappointing, they start to asking why with was feel not nice, WHY? Really good spot! The food is great, especially Adjarian khachapuri made with proper cheese and delicious dough. Although we were less impressed khinkali which were on a “dougher” and less meaty side. The prices are incredibly reasonable too. Expect a bit of a wait for your food, but that’s typical for Georgian cuisine, and it’s definitely worth it. Everything seems to be cooked to order and served as fresh as possible. Overall, great value for money.

We came to visit all the way from Kensington and it was absolutely worth it)) This place is in fact a hidden gem. Every dish we tried was delicious (got khachapuri, odgahuri, lobio, chikhirtma, Georgian salad, pelamushi, pkhali, mushrooms with cheese and Saperavi rose wine). We’ve been to other Georgian restaurants in London and can definitely name this the best of all. My husband is Georgian and quite picky, but he was very happy about this place as well. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming, service — 10 out of 10. We are certainly coming back sometime (it’s a shame we live so far away). I made just a couple of pictures because I was too busy eating, sorry 😂😍

We were both curious to try Gurmani because of the outstanding customer reviews. On arrival we were greeted by the friendly owner. The place is small but beautifully decorated and spotless. We ordered cold Meze, a selection of the 4 vegetable Pkhalis, Khachapuri bread, Khinkali dumplings and the baby chicken in walnut and garlic sauce. Every single dish was absolutely delicious and reasonably priced, my favorite was the chicken. The sauce was outstanding. We would have loved to try one of the desserts, but due to the amount of food we had it was impossible. So we just had Cappucino , which was also very good. We will definitely come back.

Overpriced for what it is - the food was above average but it wasn’t worth the £100 we’d paid for 2. Only having a glass of wine each and we left not feeling full… had to go get fast food afterwards. Such a shame as we had high expectations for this place

Best Georgian food I’ve had in London but we waited 45 min for drinks and approx 2 hours for mains Edit - Booked for 8pm 02/02 for 11 people, all agreed with the wait time, last main came at 10. No fault of the staff!
