One of my favourite locations in Balham, with outdoor seating perfect for summer. Workers are always kind and have delicious food

I've been here four times and it's been lovely every time. Great for meat eaters and vegans alike. Service is always warm and caring. My favourite restaurant in the area.

Feels like a hidden gem. The food and service are exceptional! Great for vegetarians- but everyone has to try the roasted cottage cheese.

Delicious food with incredible service!

Delicious food and good service. Would recommend the charcoal grilled chicken. Shared a paneer cheese starter (lovely) and finished off with a beautiful mango sorbet. The Cobra beer on tap was reasonably priced and a refreshing choice with the food.

Honestly I do not know why it's taken so long to try this restaurant - I'm so impressed! My partner and I popped in after seeing their 21st Birthday offer of 15% off the bill and we will definitely be returning; the service was excellent, all the staff were so friendly and professional and the food arrived quickly; food was really fresh and nicely seasoned and the menu included a lot of options. Even without the discount, the prices are really reasonable. 100% recommend this little Balham gem!

Nischal and Subash looked after us very well. Food and drinks 10/10. Great food recommendations. They also really kindly allowed us to sample some dishes that they are thinking of putting on the menu, which were delicious, and a nice drink on the house! Fantastic flavours, impeccable service - all around a wonderful experience. My dad has memories of Nepalese cuisine from his childhood, and he was very impressed. The food had delicate flavours, and you could taste each and every spice that they had added to the meals. Even more importantly, the food was not oily like you might find in other places. Overall, the quality and flavours were wonderful. Especially recommend the momo cha and Kathmandu pork. The service was brilliant! I was really impressed - the waiters took the time to explain and recommend dishes in detail and engaged in lots of friendly conversations with us. It was a lovely dining experience - my dad said he felt special dining here. They took care of us in a way that he said felt like the old British dining experience. Will definitely return!

Had a lovely experience at Gurkha’s Balham. The service was incredibly attentive and we really enjoyed the food. It was authentic and flavourful! We had momo cha and spicy prawn crackers for starters. Tarai chicken, sunsari pork and dhahi bhanta for mains which were all delicious and would 100% get again. We’re locals of Balham and glad we got to try Gurkha’s, it really lived up to the reviews and would highly recommend to anyone who lives close by or is visiting.

Incredible food and service. Our server was attentive, and his recommendations were excellent. The lamb dishes are to die for. My husband and I were genuinely sad we found this place on our last day in London - we would have come back for more!

Had an amazing meal at Gurkhas Balham, incredible slow roasted leg of lamb and momos that were some of the best I’ve ever had. Sweet outdoor area too that was great to sit in for the warm summer evening! Our waiter Nischal was so lovely and hospitable and made the evening all the more enjoyable. Will definitely be back!!

I've just had dinner. In the Gurkhas Dinner in Balham and too tell you the truth. It's one of the best restaurant I've been too in a very long time. The food was outstanding. Sizzling chicken. Was amazing. We had the slow cooked lamb shank. It melted in my mouth. Have already booked for next weekend.

Ghurka's gave us a great evening - wonderful food and service

Brilliant evening, great food and even better service.

The food is absolutely fantastic! Delicious and the meat is cooked to perfection. The drinks also good, however I did have to chase up a drinks order. And the service to initially get our order was a little bit slow, but the staff seemed friendly enough just a little bit inexperienced maybe. But will definitely be back as the food was just perfection!

Brilliant food got exactly what we ordered. I bad a lamb curry off the bone and everything was served with good value. Restaurant situated in Central Balham near the tube. Staff very friendly Tops is the second time I've been here and I would goo back

Lovely food. Really good service and pleasant atmosphere. We were well looked after. Staff were attentive but not intrusive. Good variety of dishes catering for carnivores and vegetarians (vegans). We have been back several times for celebration meals.

Food very good if a tad expensive for portion size. Issue for us was extremely slow service. Got there at 730 our booking time. Did not take order until 8pm. Starters came at 815pm finished by 830ish then waited until 925 for mains. There was a big table in but no real excuse. I felt we were tucked by bar so people just kept missing us? May try again but not sure

Gurkhas is as authentic as it gets. The food is so delicious - highly recommend the Munillo Maccha - it's salmon in a coconut, cashew and cream sauce and it's unreal. The service was great even while the restaurant was very busy - Nischal took great care of us. Overall a great dinner out and we can't wait to go back soon!

We wanted food of Nepal & we got it! Overall, we really enjoyed the food here however I felt our Nakese starter had been microwaved to warm it up and then sauce added. The Sherpa lamb was very tasty and the Sunsari pork was delicious. Service was excellent however a young, inexperienced waiter kept walking up & down the restaurant which was distracting. toilet is very clean. We’re planning to come back here and try more delights. Our Recommendation to the Owner is that they should consider better lighting to create a more appealing, comfortable ambiance. View other successful restaurants and their interior designs for ideas.

We had dinner yesterday evening at this restaurant and it was wonderful. Despite just being 2 staff (a lovely server and the manager, Nischal) they were so attentive and helpful, amazing service! It was our first time having Nepalese food and we ate a lot - it was all delicious, well cooked and tender meat, great flavour and much variety. The desserts also were very good, note the banana fritter like dessert was not oily at all. In fact none of the food including the curries were oily which is great! Mango Lassi big and refreshing, my friend loved his wine - he said it was fruity and fragrant and my husband loved his Nepalese beer. We definitely recommend this place, with it's lovely restaurant layout, tasty dishes and fantastic service!

We really loved our meal and service here - the restaurant was quiet but then regulars came in and they were all kind and cheery with the staff. Overall a lovely experience - great food, good service. We will definitely become regulars ourselves!

All the staff were extremely accommodating, we went there for my nieces birthday and they even surprised us with a whole cake for them! Would definitely recommend and come back!

It's not your ordinary Indian curry, it's Nepalese; not as hot as Indian, but fairly tasty at reasonable prices.

Hands down the best curry in the area. Some of the tastiest dishes I've ever had. And the staff are absolutely incredible. We cannot recommend Gurkha's enough!

Very well marked up allergens menu so great for me as a coeliac needing gluten free options. The food was delicious, especially the pakoras and paneer. Service was friendly and attentive. Also very good value if you get the veggie dishes which are half the price of the meat dishes but almost as large. Would recommend.

London has many places with delicious food. This is one of them. Great use of spices. London has less places with delicious food and tables that aren’t crushed together. Even rarer in London is delicious food, a comfortable place to dine plus warm and friendly service. Gurkha’s is that rarity.

A prawn 🦐🍤 too far I suppose getting seafood dishes from a landlocked country is not such a good idea. Well, one of the party of eight did. I have to say that the prawn curry was bland and the prawn was chewy. Not something you would expect from fresh food. My salmon curry, another bad idea, was actually not bad but it felt like someone had taken frozen cubes of salmon and put them in a cashew nut curry. There was hardly any spiciness to any of the dishes which was quite disappointing. Service was adequate and the restaurant was clean. However it did not have the vibe of someplace exotic. Someplace I was going to go to soon on another yoga adventure. Luckily for me I had a great night thanks to everyone in the group. Would I go again? Not unless they improve the food. Tell you what... I will review this again after I return from Nepal 😉😂 I m a fair man I want local businesses to succeed and get better 😁

Apart from service ( which is very delayed ) everything else was really good. Authentic Nepalese food, one of the best in the city.

Excellent food excellent service

Visited for hubby's birthday, food excellent, staff friendly to the point they noticed that hubby had a birthday gift bag so later they bought out a chocolate cake and all sang happy birthday, will visit again.

Fantastic food, beautifully presented. Serving staff lovely and very efficient. Reasonable price with generous portions. Great terrace sheltered from wind. We ordered too much, because we wanted to try as many dishes as possible. Well priced for all that we ate and drank. Would highly recommend. Well behaved dogs accepted on terrace, but not inside restaurant. On our Friday 11 August visit, the restaurant was buzzing, and it is well deservedly popular.

Delicious food (esp the creamy salmon curry) but pricey and the portions are small. I was still hungry at the end. Service took a while on a Wednesday night as well. But the food was incredible!

The food was amazing and they were so friendly and it is the best Nepalese restaurant I have ever been to. Definitely recommend the chicken chow chow/chicken chow main.

Visited (and ordered delivery) a number of times, food is always brilliant - I didn't veer away from my usual order of Mayur Lamb and chow-chow (noodles) but will one day! It's a real shame that Nepalese food hasn't become more celebrated in the UK as it's so good. Service was also really good, particularly as it was a Sunday night when you can imagine work is the last thing you want to be doing. Prices are extraordinarily reasonable as well. Just go here, you won't be disappointed.

WOW what a lovely meal. Not only delicious food, but wonderful service too. Very friendly and relaxed environment. We where a group of 8 plus a one yr old and they were very accomodating and kind. All the food was top notch, I had a lamb dish and was cooked to perfection. The deep friend banana desert was also so tasty. Thank you!!!

This is a wonderful place with lovely friendly staff who are always attentive and smiling. The food is a delight and certain dishes make us regularly return.... A real treat and always a lovely experience when we visit...and we would highly recommend it…Now go and discover your favourite dishes...

Wasn't huge on the shrimp that we had to start, thought they were a bit tasteless but the pork for my main was banging 👌 good prices too

Service was very poor - the staff overall really need to up their game. Didn’t get prawn crackers until we asked 15 mins later. Asked for the bill then had to wait another 15 minutes. Do NOT order the tofu (coconut) £9 as it was inedible. So disappointing.

Excellent Nepalese cuisine which sounds a bit of a cross between Indian and Chinese. Very tasty. Good service. Seating is outside or inside and there is plenty of it.

We have been here twice recently and cannot wait to go back each time we have a lovely time and lovely food and service and recently even surprised us with a birthday desert which was unexpected but a delight!! Highly recommend

First time eating in Gurkha's after many years of take aways and it didn't disappoint. Fragrant, slow cookes lamb dishes with steamed rice, aloo broccoli and breads. Thankfully they had the side windows fully open allowing a decent breeze into the restaurant, so pleasant enough even on a hot evening

Delicious and high quality Nepalese food. Every dish ordered was very tasty. It's also recommended by Michel Roux Jnr. Due to the layout of the room, it can get very noisy when full. But service is very good.

Excellent food. Amazing service. Try the Momo Cha, the Mayur Lamb and the Holy Sweet dessert. Everything else we tried was good, but these really stood out!

The Gurkhas Diner is only ever excellent. If you haven't tried Nepalese cooking it's just great place to try it. The momos - a sort of spicy ravioli - are perfect. Friendly and pleasant staff too.
