Not for me, unfortunately. Food looked dried out by 10am, Staff were overwhelmed, and service suffered as a result. It's very noisy from school type chairs dragging on tile floors. With all that considered, it was poor value. 😔

A group of friends and I met up to play some Magic: The Gathering and hangout. The four of us were there for a few hours, and everything we ordered tasted great. The staff were super nice and accommodating, and the place itself is gorgeous. We'll definitely be back! Update: For a few months now myself and a few friends have met once a week at Ground, and have always had a great time. The sandwiches and toasties are delicious, the range of cakes and buns incredible, and the drinks to die for. I personally recommend the Mocha with a slice of Lemon Drizzle cake.

Lovely food lovely staff . Coffee and tea first-rate. Nicely positioned in a historic building next to the river. Was originally built to pump water to the town. Only gets 3 stars this visit as the owner / higher manager was in inspecting.. while his wife / business partner spent the whole time coughing from one end of the cafe to the other . Someone running a food business should know if coughing or sneezing to mask up.. or stay away and not become complacent . Pretty basic stuff . Someone not familiar with how well it usually runs, might be put off returning .. Reputation is everything after all .

First off, It was not at all busy and I don’t know what was wrong with the young lad working there. Firstly I asked what the sandwiches were as there were no signs on them and I can’t eat meat and he bluntly said ‘there’s only what’s there and there aren’t any that are vegetarian”. That was whatever but it was said in such a bad attitude. I ordered two drinks, an iced vanilla latte and a chai latte. Working as a barista myself for many years I knew these drinks were easy. I paid a ridiculous amount of money for these two small drinks and the iced coffee was slammed on the table without any vanilla in it. I asked at least twice if he could put the syrup into it with the first him replying ‘yea fine’ and after waiting a good five minutes while other people got their drinks I asked again and he glared at me til his Co-worker did it herself. He also forgot my chai latte which his young Co worker had to remind him of several times. While he was steaming the milk he leaned against the coffee machine with his hand in his hair and then finally presented me with my chai latte without saying anything at all. It’s possibly the worst service I’ve ever received and when I sat down to drink the chai it just tasted like milk with hardly any flavour however I couldn’t be bothered to deal with him again. Not a single smile or any politeness from the staff, at least the girl did her job right even if they were both really standoffish. Completely disappointed. Being usually a very positive person, this really shows how awful the experience was, and working as a barista for years if the job seems that hard to the lad while it was quiet he shouldn’t be working there.

When it first opened, chemical and v60's were offered and the staff knew their coffee's offering speciality beans too. Now the level of knowledge appears to be Americano with varying degrees of milk added. Asked for a v60 and was told they ever done such a thing, asked for a filter coffee and the response was "we do americano". Coffee is still nice and the eats are grand too but it's not what it used to be.

The building was originally a pump house for pumping sewage across the river. Built in 1929. As a coffee house it’s a bit tight for space inside but good space outside looking over the river bann. Typical ‘Ground’ menu with good selection of sandwiches and traybake so shouldn’t be any surprises if you know the franchise. Works well as a stopover for walkers and cyclists.

Ground Espresso Portadown is situated in a prime location literally on the periphery of the town centre yet in a picturesque, peaceful spot right beside the River Bann. There is limited car parking onsite including parking for the disabled, with ramp access to the cafe. Good selection of food and tray bakes.... coffee is excellent and their barista staff obviously know what they are doing. Certainly worth a visit, particularly on a clear sunny morning. One can sit out on their patio which is a sun trap, catching rays from early morning well past lunchtime.

I and 8 friends visited today. My small well-behaved dog was under the table but I was told no dogs allowed. My food had already arrived prior to this so I asked if I could eat my food before leaving and was firmly told NO. Therefore I had to leave part of my lunch and eat the rest standing outside in the rain. The waitress could have offered to dry a table and chair for me to sit. I understand that the dog unfriendly policy is at a management level but it could be enforced in a more caring and pleasant manner. Some customer service training in pleasantness would not go amiss. PS what I was able to eat of the sandwich lunch was tasty enough.

Lunch with wife and son. Fancied a good coffee break among shopping as you do...which to their credit they do here. BUT having ordered 3 hot drinks, 2 hot meals and a tray bake...I fancied a tray bake myself. So I asked the staff member...for a crunchy oatmeal slice...to mop up my americano with...and asked if I could have 'that one there with the crunchy crust'...a favourite...only to be told.... "Sorry I can't serve you that you have to choose one from the front because of the sell by dates". I stepped back...did I just hear that right...so I asked if they just said I couldn't have a wee bun that I the paying customer asked for regardless of all the other items I'd bought...'are you really not going to serve a paying customer the tray bake they'd like...seriously....you just said that?' Eyes rolled. Monosyllabic answer...'Fine'. It wasn't as if I was looking to play jenga...the bun was right there! Anyway. I fully understand the need to not waste produce and that good business practice would require astute staff to follow work rules...ie use the older buns first. But to tell a customer...no can't have that. Mind boggles. Quite kurtly they then offered to serve it...had went off it by then. No thanks. Unimpressive attitude and service...of that staff member. Haven't had this 'experience' in other Ground Coffe shops. Hope the Pump House managemet read this. Other good coffee shops are nearby.

Sadly my impression of once a place for myself and my bike group to meet for coffee I will no longer be able to use this coffee house. Today I asked for a slice of toast and a regular coffee. The lady on duty was lacking in manner and produced a slice of toast in a box no butter no topping of any kind and charged £4.20 hearing the price of the coffee and 1 slice of bread I ssked the price of the slice of bread, she said it cost £1.20 in my opinion this is an absolute shame. This needs justification before the next person is ripped off So sad that this can happen when the cost of a full loaf is less than a pound.

Out for a bike ride this morning and decided to stop for a coffee. Fairly busy but a few empty seats inside and out. Joined the queue and waited and waited and waited. One person was wrangling the toaster / cooker doing food and another was wrangling the coffee machine. Both appeared to be losing what ever battle they were attempting. After 10 min the queue had an apology for the wait but still nothing moved. The queue got longer but still nothing moved. After 15/20 minutes I gave up hope of a coffee and left the increasing, non moving queue watching the toaster oven and coffee machine produce nothing. Disappointing.

I had been promising myself a visit here and today I went. Ordered a Latte and Cinamon Roll. Took them outside to sit and enjoy the lovely view. When I bit into the cinnamon roll it was solid and very obviously stale. Naturally I went and complained and the answer I got amazed me, The assistants answer was "well people normally have them heated so wouldnt notice". I said that, that was no way to disguise stale food and she said "oh no, they were fresh yesterday morning so I know they are fresh". Needless I got a refund and finished the coffee outside and have to say I doubt I will be back. This is a shame because its a beautiful setting and staff are lovely but food preparation and storage training is an absolute must.

Waited 45 minutes after having ordered a light lunch only to be told that there was a problem with the ovens which meant that the food was being cooked in another kitchen and subordinate to their orders. If we had been told that before we ordered we would have gone next door to the place with the working ovens. Huge disappointment as the food description on the menu was different and exciting.

Food was delicious, good portion size, quick to arrive after ordering, friendly staff. Lovely surroundings. Only reason I didn’t give it 5 is because we had to wait to be seated as the staff were busy and it’s difficult for my mum to stand.
