Griffin in Nuneaton and Bedworth

Very, very small vegetarian selection. Poor. Didn't stay.

Pre ordered our meal and we were then informed our chosen meal wasn't avaliable on the day. Our first disappointment which was then followed by then not being able to split the bill as the had assumed we wanted to pay all together so placed it on one bill (at bo point did they ask us) When we came to use the discount emailed to us by marstons to pay they informed us they couldn't do it because it was all on one tab. They had no issue with us putting out drinks on another tab without mentioning anything. Very disappointing service for what was a very nice meal.

Nice meal out and enjoyed catching up with a friend over a meal here. Recommend coming here.

Table for 2. Both wanting Sunday lunch. Informed that the red cabbage wasn’t available. No substitute offered. Ordered the trio of meats only to be told not enough for a trio however all three meats were available as separate orders. Roasts were lovely. However overall very disappointing

The last 2 visits have been disappointing. Both occasions lots of items were off the menu..Some meals had items missing and had to ask for them. Gravy came out so late half the meal was eaten.. one meal had half a dozen chips was told that's the correct portion size, so you might want to order extra chips.. Photo of pie advertised was misleading. Came out a little bigger than a mini pork pie..lol..Must say most other meals were lovey and tasty.. Booked for 15 people as a treat from me, went to pay using my 30% discount but can't be used bank holiday wkends, told thread the small print. So ok that was my fault...So people be aware... Just a little disappointed that no offer of slight discount or maybe a meal free. I should have took photos but didn't think at the time... shame to say all of us will be finding elsewhere to eat out..

Lovely place. Always had a great time. Food was OK. Requested medium for the meat but came out medium well, a bit dry. Everything else was amazing. Our server Katie was polite and friendly.

Menu is very limited, no selection of steaks, no gammon only on the basic mixed grill, a lot of pub grub, burgers, fish and chips.

It was a Saturday afternoon 1pm 3 of us ordered the mix grill only to be told that only one was available umm we wasn't very happy about that . Our waiter was lovely and friendly.

Fabulous meal and drinks, staff could not be more helpful and even provide a blanket for our Dachshund so he could sit on the bench, super service with a smile.

We had another lovely evening at the Griffin , we were delighted to see our regular waitress Michelle when we walked in , nothing is too much trouble for Michelle she knows what our tipple is , recommends dishes as she remembers what we like and always has a chat and makes us feel so welcome, the food is always great and very reasonable prices , it’s a nice friendly atmosphere , clean warm we love it there 😊

The custom pizza flatbread was amazing especially with the bbq sauce on it

Massively overpriced compared to competitors in the area. £7 for 3 chicken tenders is ridiculous. And neck oil price is higher than at Tottenham Hotspur stadium.

The food was extremely good. Last time, a long time ago, it was pretty bad but this time it was the best meal I've ever had in Coventry.

I recommend this place. Prices are competitive, food is decent and the staff are great. They are attentive and appropriately interactive - offering suggestions and good knowledge of what they have behind the bar and on the menu with some banter, but also leaving you to enjoy your meal and company. We will definitely return.

met by an efficient staff member who showed us our table, asked if we wished for a drink first, and produced menus for everyone including a gluten free menu, our drinks arrived and shortly after our orders were taken, the place is very smart and clean, the toilets are exceptionally clean and there was ample parking out front. The meal was particularly good, and everyone said as much. if only we could have stayed another Hour or so.

8 of us booked for the Mother’s Day menu, we initially paid a £10 deposit which was reasonable. Upon sitting down we were informed several of the menu items were unavailable, after asking if there were alternatives we were told no, the waitress returned and asked if we had paid a deposit, once it was confirmed we had other options became available, why was this not conveyed to the waitress when we were sat down . We ordered starters and mains, but after about 15 mins we were told one starter option was not available, then the table next to us who ordered after us had the said starter delivered to their table. The mains were not a lot better, steaks cold and over cooked chips not nice , parts missing off the roast dinners which we were again told were not included but brought out to us after they realised we had booked the Mother’s Day menu. Drinks were reasonably priced but one of our pints had to go back as it was not nice. The deserts were great as were the waiting staff who were apologetic throughout. We left a good tip for the staff and paid in full without asking for any discount. I also spoke to one of the senior staff members and informed them of our concerns and that we would be leaving this review.

My son, Samuel, took me here for Mothers Day. We both had the Trio Roast. He had the Crumble for dessert and I splurged on the Chocolate Bomb. Worth every calorie! Thank you, Katie, for looking after us. If you haven't been, the restaurant and bar is spacious and has a relaxed atmosphere. The beer garden is perfect for families. Will be coming again!

The food was good, with a decent variety on the menu. The service was painfully slow, with what seemed like one or two members of staff covering the whole restaurant, for both food and drinks, while having lots of people run food and also it felt like there was members of staff just standing around not doing anything.

I attended a family meal where we were honouring a year passing of my uncle. We booked the table a month prior, sent pre orders through for them to change them not once but twice because of a 2025 menu change in the middle of march 2025. Attended today and had to change my main course on the spot. We all got there for 1pm and didn't begin eating until 2:45 where the food was coming out slow. We didn't have table service for any drinks when we was told we would. Food was ok but 4 hours in attendance we felt neglected, treated by a rude member of staff when paying. I was having a conversation about how we would split the bill to a member of my family to be rudely interrupted by a member of your staff stating 'I've already explained your not getting your deposit back it comes off the bill' which I replied I understand we have sorted it out between us. I will not be returning in a hurry as your staff are rude, long wait times and mediocre food.

Went for a meal with my family this is the second thread as the first one was removed sat for an hour waiting for starters then asked for drinks never arrived then waited another hour got mains . Had the pie 1 piece of meat and it's not worth the money I explained to the waitress and they aren't bothered please don't waste your money

Felt abandoned. Greeted on entry, placed at table 5 at the back of the room, behind 2 large parties. Asked about drinks as seated, and asked about menu order when drink brought. Meal brought very quickly but the half an enormous carott, was completely raw and mine had a big piece of black in the middle. Parts of the meal were at the correct temperature, pie and gorgeous roasted garlic potatoes but veg and gravy were very much luke warm. Asked if we wanted sauce and a portion of mint sauce brought back in a small pot but no spoon or anything to get it out of the bowl. And that was it, we became invisible, no curtsy visit to check everything was OK, although I did notice one was done for one of the other tables, our finished plates were left in front of us for nearly 40 minutes, no one came to ask if we would like a dessert, which we had originally. When I went to complain and pay the bill, the only excuse given was they were busy!!! If you are so busy, do not accept a booking 2 hours before! This was supposed to be a special occasion to celebrate my Mother's birthday after a visit to the Belgrade, we had planned to eat in Coventry but as using public transport and weather forecast being rain decided to eat nearer to home and as I'd had a wonderful time and meal there a few months ago decided on the Griffin. I really wish I'd stuck with my plans to eat in Coventry. A real let down to an otherwise lovely day and not even remotely sorted by the compting of the meal

This is a great place for a meal. Great food and atmosphere. The service was also good, but they were very busy on a week night, maybe more staff needed. But a busy place tells you how popular it is and that, says it all really.

Great food, good service, quiz nights on Thursdays, set menus available. Large dog friendly beer garden. Little bit pricey, especially the puddings. Good parking facilities

Only reason I have given 4 stars for food is due to the zesty lemon tart. Lacked flavour. Description said clotted cream (but it didn’t come with any cream) and the compote seemed to be more like a mixed bag of frozen berries that had been defrosted. Definitely not fruit cooked in sugar or syrup. It was so tart I could not eat it (although partner tried it & he thought it was ok). Definitely not something I’d order again. Rest of meal was fine (Lasagne, scampi & the apple & cherry crumble).

Came down just for some light lunch. Food was amazing! Great job to chefs Rash & Jake! Accommodated my fussy eating choices. Also servers Katie & Shelby were so lovely! Went above and beyond. Will return again. Next time with our dog as it is a dog friendly restaurant! They have bowls, blankets and treats ready for dogs to come in, which I didn’t know about. Very impressed

Very friendly staff, great service, food very good. 😊

Starters too 40 minutes to arrive but then the mains arrived 4 minutes after finishing them. The mains had been left under a heat lamp so didn't taste fresh, the burgers were massively overcooked and dry. The staff were friendly enough but very disorganised as the table behind us got their deserts before their main courses. And to top it off for the quality of the food it was overpriced.

Great cosy and welcoming place, food was outstanding and the service provided by Stacey at the bar and Kacey and cherise in the restaurant was second to none will be back for sure

Staff were really friendly and professional. The Griffin is the only place that's ever asked me about allergies , and as I have a severe allergy to Brazil nuts it made me feel safe and heard. Overall experience was excellent, we'll definitely be back soon 😁

Lack of food available- so left without eating

I came into the pub with my family and ordered my food unfortunately I received the wrong food but the assistant manager Craig was so helpful and sorted all our order out so professional and helpful thank you Craig is a credit to your company

Popped in yesterday for some lunch with out a booking and when I saw how busy they were I didn’t expect to get a table, but Owen found me a table where I was served by Julie who recommended the sea bass, boy was i impressed! Amazing food cooked by Billy, Rash and Emma, really would recommend! Excellent service all round

The food was expensive for what you got the £17 for a burger that was very well presented looked the scraps of chips had been thrown on tot he plate, the burger was overcooked, the pulled brisket was tasty. All the time we were sat at the bar we could hear the bartender complaining about customers and he was bragging about how he was being rude to them. The decor and place it self was nice. Food and service can defintely improve

If i could put no stars i definitely would! this place is appauling waited 15 minutes for my sons pepsi and it was flat the food poorly presented cold and most of all the lady that served it smelt of BO when she was passing the plate over when i stood up i was smothered in dog hair that shoudnt be on the seats or wiped neither was done rude manager also other people complaint of the service and waiting for food that never came sure i seen a mouse or a rat had to get window to get service on me phone and there was a rat running near the back doors

I came here and had a terrible service but tonight I took my mum who has mobility issues and couldn’t of been happier with our food and Craig who went above and beyond to help us a true credit to this pub thank you Craig for your help and the food was loverly and very reasonable

Friendly, welcoming staff and good food

So you serve a freind of mine tonight but then last orders you refuse service and say you shouldn’t have let the person in with a hi vis on. Shocking. Pubs are not doing well and closing left right and centre and you embarrass a working man like that. Have a sign on the door saying no working class ppl allowed if that’s the case. I’ve emailed marstons head office. I will recommend to everybody I know never to go there and they recommend everyone they know not to either.

It was a birthday treat and we were welcomed on arrival and shown to.our table. Everything was extremely friendly and not rushed. Drinks arrived quickly and then we ordered our meals. All four of us thought the meals were very good value. The service was impeccable and we are arranging our next visit already. I am sure this will be our "go-to" place for the foreseeable future. We'll done and thanks to all the staff.

I went with my partner for Sunday lunch but unfortunately when we arrived we were told there wasn't any left. Obviously a popular choice throughout the day and at 5pm, although a little disappointed, we were able to choose from the remaining menu. The staff were extremely friendly and accommodating. Love the atmosphere too.

The food and service were fine but some of the seats needed replacing or reupholstery.

The gammon came with out the egg and very little peas - the chunky chips were good. The calarmari was very chewy and rubbery The kids chicken tenders came over fried our 1 year old couldnt eat them, and i'm shocked they only come with one side, mash and chicken most places offer another veg - peas, beans, corn... The chicken burger tasted lovley, but the cheese and batter were also burnt, it was rock solid we couldnt eat it. We did mention about the chicken tenders to the waiters and she said she would tell the chef, there was no offer of anything else for my son to eat instead

Called in late afternoon very quiet. Shown to a table, drink order taken straight away. We ordered the cheese,leek and potato pie.....delicious. The veg were cooked to perfection crunchy on the inside.

We had the WORST experience ever! The manager needs to be sacked she was the rudest person I have ever met infront of my elderly grandmas it was absolutely disgusting! She bare face lied twice to us about our ‘pre order’ and also had the cheek to back chat me infront of my family and in front of other guests sitting at other tables who had told us she made them also feel uncomfortable. Absolutely disgusting behavior the only good thing was the food (which wasn’t even the food we booked in for). Our table was also given to someone else. Crap service and would not take my kids or elderly grandmas back there again.

Booked here for Christmas Day. It was a superb experience. We’ve eaten here numerous times but today was particularly good. The staff were really welcoming, all of them really warm and attentive, all working exceptionally hard throughout. Everything was really well organised and the service was excellent, very quick and efficient. The food was EXCELLENT, not overly fussy, like home cooked food, superb quality. They even gave a personalised Christmas card with vouchers with money off food in January. Cannot praise the venue and particularly the staff enough. A fantastic experience, thank you to everyone at the Griffin and Merry Christmas to you all!

We went for a family Christmas meal with my 92 year old nan. Food was lovely, staff really friendly and helpful sorting a ramp for the wheel chair. Lovely Christmas atmosphere. Will definitely be back.

Service was ok, nobody did a check back on the food to make sure we were happy with it, steak was very chewy told the waitress when she collected the plates and she said they get that comment a lot and it was due to the supplier, so maybe change supplier? Mac and cheese was very basic, not a lot of flavour. Garlic bread was nice tho but abit oily.

One of my favourite places to go! Staff are friendly and helpful, no stairs to go inside. Plenty of parking space. Also they do events like crafts fairs/market!

I’m absolutely appalled by my experience at Griffin.. I dined there yesterday, and just a few hours later, I found myself in the worst agony of my life with severe food poisoning. The pain was unbearable—no painkillers made even the slightest difference. It got so bad that I had to call 111 for help. I didn’t sleep at all last night, spending the entire time in misery, and today I’m completely shattered, still dealing with lingering pain. This wasn’t just a bad meal—it was a health nightmare. I won’t be coming back, and I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone. This kind of experience is unacceptable.

Slow service and poor quality food

Slow service today My chicken burger was probably one of the worst I've ever had... The breast was extremely dry incl the fries as it was heated up from previous day.... Really didn't enjoy it ...wouldn't be coming back.. also awfully smelly inside...

Went here for a xmas do. The waitress was lovely, very friendly and cheerful. Probably the best bit about the place. The food was ok, nothing to shout about. Went for the mix grill so I was expecting it to be decent for the price (£20) but the steak was somehow over cooked and cold, did that typical thing of not wanting to make a fuss though. Lol don't think I'd be returning.

Tge foidxwss hot, but overcooked... carrots a bit watery, hard, pastry around the pie, opinion rings, hot but overcooked. There were large parties for Christmas food, so we put it down to that. The staff were all helpful, polite, and attentive.
