Service excellent. Breakfast cooked perfectly. Great value for money. Family of two adults and two children. Both children ate for free.

We eat here quite often and have done so over many years. It has been going down hill in recent months but tonight was a low for the food. The waiting staff are always extremely lovely but always understaffed and overworked. We have no disappointments with them, the problem is the mediocre food that gets served up and the time it’s sits under the heat lamps before delivery to table. My wife asked for the fish and chips, safe option you would have thought but no , arrived as soggy batter. Sent back for crisping up. I had ordered crispy chicken burger. Simple meal should have been easy to cook, unfortunately it arrived and was inedible due to the chicken being impossible to bite or cut into. Not sure what the cook (cannot use the word chef!) had done but he had managed to totally screw this one up. The young waiter was most apologetic, not his fault, and meal sent back . I did not order anything else so went hungry. The fish arrived back, but was again totally soggy batter. How can you get fried fish wrong? Very disappointing all round and one of the most annoying things is the whistling cook from the kitchen area who can be heard above everything else . It’s like listening to a demented canary.Won’t be visiting again for quite a while .

When we entered we were greated by a lovely lady. We sat down and Sharon explained how breakfast works she was polite and friendly and very professional the breakfast was amazing clean and tidy place I am happy with the price great selection of food we will be coming back on our days off 😋. 🥰

Some of the furniture is at the point of needing to be binned and replaced now. Staff are pleasant, but seem a little distracted. The atmosphere isn't the same as it was a few years ago, tough to say what has changed but it used to be quite a special restaurant that felt special. At the moment, it feels like any other large chain. Food is reasonably priced, portion sizes were small on my attendance (and I mean small!) and service was reasonable. I'll try again at some point. Hopefully the slipped standards aren't a reflection of all the time. They do have colouring packs for kids and a small outdoor play area too.

Fillet steak was fantastic and all the other food we had was ok. Staff were lovely, like going back in time to when they actually care about you as a customer, top notch

Went for breakfast took 35 mins to get a breakfast asked for how I wanted egg cooked and was snotty not even white and the only thing that was hot was hash brown service was not that good at till we had to pay for 1 full breakfast out of 2

Nothing exciting. Food excellent, though very frustrating with availability of sauces. Almost have to beg for more ketchup and the bbq sauce is a pound extra and tastes horrid. No real feel of comfort but if you like steak, it's good.

Called in for walk in breakfast. Was looked after by rowena. She was so professional, and welcoming despite her obviously working by herself in the breakfast area. Nothing was too much trouble. The Food was fab. Plentiful. Thank you.

Service was good considering they were very busy good job I booked. Breakfast was good but the mushrooms were cold and I am afraid they failed with the poached eggs which were hard. Not sure iff they know but learner cars use the car park to train the learners to reverse and park into spaces this is dangerous to other drivers

our food was cold, the garlic bread was very burnt, our order was wrong and had to wait even longer for our starters, the fruit on top of my drink had mould on it (it was passion fruit to be more exact) we had to wait a while for our drinks to come out, bad presentation of food, me and my partner had to wait over an hour for our food despite there being barely any customers, not a calm atmosphere, our table was sticky, me and my partner were getting dirty looks from the staff even thought we were not being loud or causing a disturbance, 2 tables next to us also got the wrong order, stakes were overdone and not how we asked for it, the rice was old and gross, very overpriced. considering how many people say how good this place is i am very disappointed. me and my partner spent over £75 on food that didn’t even come out warm. i have put a picture up (i have cut the ribs it did not come out like that) the chicken had basically no flavour and was hidden under the ribs when came out.

On a positive note. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The venue is really nice, inside and out. Very clean and looks pretty new. Very well looked after. The food was really nice, however, it is definitely not worth the price. First time here and we had a voucher, and I’m glad we did. We had 2 beef dinners. £15 each. Not enough food for that. We normally go to carvery’s for £10-£12 each and get twice as much. Looking at the normal menu everything just seems so overpriced. No wonder the place was dead. If you have a voucher I would highly recommend this place ,but don’t pay full price

Food was ok. Service by the lovely waitresses was lovely. But the chefs swore behind the counter and they moved food around on the plates with their fingers before they went to the tables with un gloved hands 😖

Came today for breakfast with couple of friends. Service we have received from start to finish was amazing. Our waitress Sharon was so friendly and funny but very professional. We use griff on regular basis but today’s breakfast was so tasty and poached eggs cooked to perfection despite it being holiday time and they were busy as children eat free. Well done and we will definitely be back soon.

Very dissatisfied with service and food. Ordered potato wedges with cheese and onions with bbq dip, they where not wedges more like thin. cooked chips, complained and was told that is how the supplier describes them, so they have to sell them as the supplier described and I wasn’t the first to complain about them. One of the side orders was missing from the main course, we had to ask twice for them, they finally came out when the food was almost eaten, and they tasted burned. We ordered a round of drinks before dessert, we had to ask where they were as we had waited 30 mins for them and had finished dessert, 25 minutes later a man comes over to us to say “ you do know the restaurant is now closed, drink up and leave “ very rude. It was 10pm needless to say we won’t be going again

Popped in for breakfast this morning, and I must say I had a wonderful experience, I was served by a very pleasant and cheerful waitress called Sharon and I was made to feel very welcome, really impressed with the high level of service,& I will visit again. Thank you.

Arrived at 16.50 today Saturday to be told they couldn't give us a table as they don't have enough staff there were very few people inside and there was 3 of us . Oh well won't be trying again. People travelling beware of wasting a journey

Turned up today as a walk in...told they where to busy only taking bookings...went outside booked walked in 5 minutes later ...said we had just booked didn't really wanna serve us ..walked through the restaurant there where 17 people on 6 different tables ...absolutely disgusting thinking your better than people and u can turn down people in a restaurant where there was less than 20 percent in restaurant

Lovely food and staff were lovely. Service was very slow and was waiting a while for food to come out but I believe they didn’t have many staff in but they were very apologetic.

Starters aren’t that nice. (I had the calamari which was awful, chicken goujons which where amazing, Garlic flatbread which was dry and needed cheese and the halloumi fries which was chewy and bland) The steak sampler was absolutely 10/10 amazing. The meat pulled apart. You didn’t even have to cut it. So were the desserts. (We had the brownie and the churro sundae) absolutely delicious. Other than that, the restaurant itself where we were seated was dark and felt lonely. I was dining at around 7:30pm on a Tuesday and it was cold and quiet. Didn’t like the atmosphere at all. It got to the point where my partner was putting his cup down really slowly so that it didn’t make too much noise on the table. It was very strange. Also the staff were very polite but as soon as we paid and didn’t leave a tip, I straight away felt hostility like we were a pain to still be there. Conversations become forced rather than flowing like the rest of the evening. So I think a 3 ⭐️ is valid.

The attitude of the manager spoiled the evening, though our waitress was lovely. My visit was on 23 June. I have complained directly to Whitbread about him.

Great restaurant for a family meal. Come here most weeks before a trip to the cinema with my Dad. Jade always goes out her way to make us welcome. She makes us feel really special , remembering us, our seating and our normal order. She is such an asset to the restaurant and she deserves a pay rise for going the extra mile!

Went for Sunday dinner, one hour after they started serving, then had run out of lamb (probably didn't have it in the first place!) My mix grill was a joke, solid eggs fatty gammon and steak and a bit of chicken which should be called a nugget. The Sunday dinner was even worse, my father couldn't even cut through the Yorkshire puddings with a steak knife!!. Gray is horrid and swimming in fat, veg over cooked too Was horrid but my dog enjoyed the meat. Wouldn't go back

Really awful team members. Disgusting behaviour from managers degrading other staff, extremely disturbing and was put off food completely. Spoke on phone to request the customer service number, to be talked to like a child and refused to be given customer service number, accused me of being a worker and claimed i was never in the restaurant, meaning i have to complain via google. I was told he is a manager so therefore can do what he wants! Shocking experience. Never returning again.

We go for breakfast quite often. A good cheap and cheerful breakfast. Staff are very nice. Kids eat free too.

Lovely location, friendly staff. The food terrible, starter over cooked I had chicken strips I got 4 with no salad looked terrible, the main meal was also over cooked and the portion was very small and food missing part. Told the waiter who just said sorry but did not offer a drink or money off the bill. We went with our daughter and her family don’t think we will go again which is a shame as the place is really lovely.

My only wish would be more fish and salad choices, service was excellent even though they had two large groups to serve before us, the price was what I expected, not bad at all. They managed to make me a lovely salad with my beer battered cod replacement for the chips,going off menu, for which I was grateful.

We went last weekend and the food was good but everything else was poor. Our waitress was very rude to our table and had a very bad attitude problem throughout the evening. Myself and another member of the group tried to order cocktails as they were 2 for £10 and then were told we couldn't have the ones we wanted due to lack of ingredients and all we could have was a sex on the beach, then the waitress came back and said we couldn't even have that one as they didn't have the juice to make it, so we had to go without as they were incapable of making a single cocktail out of the 9 on the menu. The rude waitress was the worst part considering there was about 30 of us on the table and we all had a main and about half of us had desserts and we ordered plenty bottles of wine and various other drinks so we ended up paying a significant amount of money in total (and this is not a cheap restaurant by any means), only for us to be spoken to like that. I understand it's difficult to be a waitress for that many people on one table, but there was no need for the rudeness. The final straw was when we were sent round to the bar to finish our drinks and we were all just having a chat and a laugh and the waitress shouted "I'm gonna have to ask you all to shut up now" in the most rude manner I have ever witnessed in a restaurant. I was going to cause a fuss over this as it was unacceptable behaviour but it was my grandads birthday so I didnt want to make a scene and upset anyone any more than they already were so we just left. I was going to come back with some friends in a few weeks but after this experience, we will go to the Griff down the road instead. Being an NHS worker myself, if i spoke to anyone like that whilst on shift, my job would be at risk so its unbelievable this person is likely to go without consequence. The only thing saving this review from being 1 star was the food, which was very nice.

My husband and I went for Sunday lunch yesterday 7th April . Great experience!! Lovely greeting at the front desk by the lady , glad to be asked if either of us had any allergies ( very important). The lady Claire, serving us at our table ,also asked 😊. Sunday lunch menu was good and nice to see Lamb being a choice, which we both had. When the meals arrived, all very nice and the lamb was cooked to perfection. Thankyou to all the staff. Will definitely visit again . ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

We often come here for breakfast on a Sunday & the staff are always super busy but always have time to make us feel welcome and valued. You never see this Sunday morning team stop & keep it all running as smoothly as possible, the only thing that mars it is the occasional impatient customer. Attended a socially shared meeting. A nice space for a small gathering.

Usually visit when the offers are on. On par with Brewers Fayre. A quick meal out when you can't be bothered to cook.

We stay in Premier Inns and eat at Beefeaters every week. The food and service at this restaurant was really very good. My Gluten free burger option was delicious, and the service by Sarah & the team was really friendly & helpful. I even managed to get a coffee with Oat milk here, something that no other Beefeater has been able to offer. Would highly reccomend. Thank-you! For once I actually felt like everyone else enjoying their dinner despite my dietary requirements!

The reviews here are not really an accurate reflection of this Beefeater. Many reviews pertaining to the adjacent Premier Inn also comment on this restaurant, as they are of course linked. Sadly, they are mostly negative. For my part, as a loyalty card member, I was not impressed and didn't feel any aspect of this restaurant was up to standard. Firstly, I was seated in an area of the restaurant that was drafty and cold. I noted that other areas of the restaurant - and it has many segments to it - were toasty and warm, so it didn't feel welcoming at all. Secondly, having arrived at 8.30pm, I was told to get my order in promptly as the kitchen was closing at 9pm! Really? According to the website it is open until 11pm. Sounds more like a ploy to rid the place of pesky customers because the staff want to finish early and can't be bothered. I was left feeling like I was being a nuisance, distracting the staff from some other apparently more important task. To compound things further, I had to wait ages for a drink before ordering. When it arrived, my bottle of lager was served with no glass. OK, some people don't mind drinking from the bottle, but it should not be assumed, and no genuine bartender (nor waiter, for that matter) should serve it without a glass. Interestingly, upon ordering a second bottle, it did arrive with a glass, but a pint glass. As a former hospitality manager myself, I can tell you that in this industry, such details matter. All this just looks lazy and lackadaisical and smacks of a staff that just can't be bothered and care nothing for standards or customer service. These are all things I could easily tolerate if the food had been good, but it wasn't. The starter of crispy calamari with fresh chilli and spicy mayo (see pictures) was just OK. The choice of starters was very lacklustre, with nothing remotely original or exciting on there. I ordered side dishes of cheesy flatbread and mac & cheese just to make it a bit more interesting (see pictures). My main course was the chicken & ribs combo (see pictures), which again failed to impress. It was lukewarm, the chicken was very dry and not worth the £17.50 price tag. The food was not very good quality, not well cooked and not served properly. Disappointing.

Went there with friends for an evening meal,it was busy a good thing you would think but they did not have the staff to cover service properly,my wife ordered the fish and chips and it was left on the top counter for about 10 minutes while the burgers were done as a result it was cold when it arrived along with the chips,the fish batter was soggy,the burger meals were ok a bit skimpy on the fries,we waited ages for the plates to be taken away and ordered desert which was very underrated for nearly £7 so overall not great there was a nearby table with two women and a chap on obviously drunk shouting swearing and trying to sing they were not asked once to be quiet by the staff who encouraged them by bringing more drinks for them,I won’t be returning,

Never been to the Griff before, and tbh I won’t be going again! Firstly half the restaurant was closed due to the heating being broken, we got seated and ordered a couple of drinks while we waited for friends to arrive, the drinks eventually arrived, when our friends arrived we ordered more drinks and food 3x fish and chips and the beef roast, three times we asked about our drinks, being told of an issue in the bar, not my problem! Again the drinks eventually arrived, we waited what seemed like an age for the food, we enquired and was told it had only been 26 mins, we arrived at 1.30 and this was now 2.40, waiting again I called the lady over and said if it wasn’t with us within 10 mins we were leaving, well surprise 5 mins later we had it, but to be absolutely honest I wish it hadn’t! Beef was fatty, sprouts hard, parsnips soggy, the only decent bit was the roast potatoes, the fish and chips were very mediocre at best, the waiter said they were short staffed and not their fault again not my problem! Several tables not cleared down so felt uncared for. We went to middlemarch over the road for desert and coffee and would have gone there for carvery but they didn’t have any tables free, was heaving in there even at 3.30.

From the welcome at reception through to the barman and “especially” Jade our server, it was great. You have to understand it’s a Beefeater, which caters for a large turnover, however, as a table of 10, we were fed and watered well throughout. The food was fine, everyone almost cleared their plates ‘the portions are generous’ and one or two were beaten… All in all … great, made even more so by the very lovely and efficient Jade. Thank you guys!

Still at the restaurant now waiting for all our meals to be delivered. It’s 14.45 and we arrived at 1pm. We ordered a shared roast dinner and an ultimate roast dinner. They’ve given us turkey instead of chicken. Starter plates to eat the shared roast off. No refills on the refillable soft drinks. The longest wait time to get drinks, order and then most of the food. We were meant to get additional roast potatoes, gravy and Yorkshire puddings (as we have paid for that), after asking for 2 sets of this they bought out one set with the wrong gravy 20 minutes late after we finished the food it’s meant to go with. Give us strength as we try and get the bill and pay.

So close to walking out without paying. I stay at the attached premier inn every week for business, I am forced to eat here otherwise I can’t Expence it. Normally, while it’s a little expensive for meh food, I don’t mind as I’m not paying the tab and generally can be in an out in just over an hour. However today I had to wait over 30 minutes to pay my bill and asked 3 separate staff members for it. In fact it was as I was about to approach who I assume was a team leader/manager when a staff member finally asked where I was going. I was planning to stay for dessert as had managed to snag the 33% deal and as I found out just needed to spend £4 more to qualify (I knew it was close but wanted to check) Spoke to a manager but was unsatisfied with the additional wait and offer. The only highlight of an otherwise frustrating experience was Vanessa at the front desk. Who while my room wasn’t quite ready went the extra mile to make up for it. Shame the rest of the experience didn’t follow.

Food is lovely. The service is terrible. The small team working are running around and literally rushing past tables constantly to get food and drinks out. To be absolutely clear the staff are great (apart from one cook who insisted on doing an annoying whistle his whole shift, fine apart from the fact it's an open kitchen) , there's just not enough of them. Don't bother going for just a drink. Table service only and the guy pouring also takes them out. If you're not in the dining area you'll struggle to get served. The bar area is freezing cold during winter and not welcoming. If they hired some more staff it would be a great place to go, but the service level is substandard at the moment.

The rooms are functional. A typical English Premier Inn hotel. I slept well there. The food is delicious, i.e. appropriate. If you don't look too closely, it's bearable here

A group from the Poets Association went for a lunch time meal, that was recommended by a friend. We throughly enjoyed our selves. Plenty of time to enjoy your meal, then dive into your delicious pud. A big thank you to Ramana, and the young man for looking after us.

Haven’t been to a Beefeater for years, so was looking forward to our meal. I had looked at the menu before hand and had a good idea what I wanted to order. We had booked a table and arrived in plenty of time. We were amused by the signs … asking us to be careful and not letting the local cat into the restaurant. We were not acknowledged when we walked in so felt a little uncomfortable standing and waiting until the waitress finally came over. Drinks arrived very quickly and our food was soon ordered, including my other half requesting no mushrooms. I ordered what I had looked at earlier. Food arrived and mine looked amazing, my other half’s had the mushroom on which we needed to deal with as there was no one around and our food was put down and the sever walked off straight away. Once we had removed the mushroom and the juices as best as we could we ate our food. My food was awesome but obviously my other halfs had been tainted with the order going wrong. When we had finished the waitress came to clear the table, we said about the mushroom and she said she had ordered it with out. We just asked for the bill and left. I honestly think we will not return.

First time back in a long time. Bad start, waiting at front of house for 10 mins until attended to, only to go in and realise its not even that busy. Clear to see the issue is that they are totally understaffed and have no management structure. Drinks took another 15/20 mins, which came out wrong. Food came out some time after, steak not being cooked as requested. The waiter with us was polite and tried his best, but overall, it's just a shambles, really. Over 2hrs spent here, mostly sat around waiting. It's not exactly cheap either. Very poor.

Excellent food and very friendly staff

I've visited here for food on a few occasions with changeable results depending on the staff working. Mostly the service is quick and friendly and the menu is always as you would expect from a beefeater. In this restaurant the food has always lived up to expectations. It is a roomy restaurant and the privacy offered depends upon the table you are given with a variety of seating options. Parking is ample, a registration entering system is used for free parking if using the restaurant.

Waited so long for food then for sauces then for pudding menu then for pudding .

Two adults and five children went for breakfast this morning. The restaurant was very busy, however the staff worked hard trying to keep everything topped up. Also, the lady that took the food order was very patient with the children and friendly.

We frequently book the function room to conduct meetings. We have found that all of the staff are very attentive and very helpful and polite. Special notes to Latoya (the general manager) as she has always been very accommodating to our needs. The food is great and the value for money is superb.

It's been a few years since I went to a Beefeater, and in the past I've found them to be a cut above some of the other chain restaurants. I've not visited this particular branch before though. However, we visited this branch recently and I was fairly disappointed if I'm honest. The staff were clearly working hard, but it seemed that they were understaffed - it took 30 minutes after drinks being ordered for them to arrive for example. The food was overall OK. My steak was cooked perfectly, but the rest of the food was best described as satisfactory. We had a 25% off mains voucher, which brought the food bill down to a similar level to Harvester. If I'm perfectly honest though, I think the food overall was better at Harvester.

I had pre-booked to come here today. The table was booked for 2.15 and it was clear they were understaffed and over populated. We were not told that the Sunday roast was already all gone and some items were also not available on the menu. What was more frustrating was the over 1 hour wait where 3 meals arrived but the 4 was literally forgotten about until I asked again 15 mins later. No communication whatsoever or apology for the waiting time. The food when it did arrive had been under the pass for sometime. Totally shocking and will not be going here again.

Great food , steaks are normally always good at most Beefeaters, this place needs a refurb though the staff do well even when its busy.

Popped out this evening for a bite to eat, the beefeater menu was great and the service even better, thanks to Jade for the prompt service and smile!!!
