Greenans Steakhouse in Newry and Mourne

Pasamos una tarde agradable de domingo con mis hijos, marido y padre. La comida no era de este mundo, y mucho de ello! Servicio de primera categoría, y a los niños les encantó la zona de juegos exterior. Situado en una ubicación serena y no queríamos irnos. Sin duda volveremos!

Habíamos comprado un vale para los Sizzlers groupon y postre y redimido, última noche en nuestro camino a casa de vacaciones.

I have eaten here a few times with the wife and 2 young girls. Once on a groupon type deal and a couple of other times simply because it does great food. The dining area is well presented and neat and clean. The food is amazing and the staff very helpful without rushing you or getting in your space. Have tried the steak and the sizzler dishes, Bar atmosphere is also friendly. A wee gem in the mournes

I really enjoyed my meal and the kids were made feel welcome and not in the way. The value was great and the atmosphere within the bar was brilliant

Very tasty, well presented & large portions all round. Surroundings clean and homely. Staff very attentive & helpful. Good variety of dishes on menu but can personally recommend sizzler dishes. Bought a Groupon deal for this meal but will definitely be back again. Would highly recommend this restuarant.

My husband and I went to Greenans Steakhouse on Wed. 3rd July, 2013 after buying a Groupon voucher for £20 which included two sizzlers dishes with a sauce, a rice/potato dish and two desserts My husband opted for the Sizzlers Special (strips of chicken, beef & prawns). I had the Shredded Chicken Sizzler. Whilst having a drink and waiting for our meals we remarked to each other that the bar and restaurant (and also the Toilets) were absolutely spotless and there was plenty of room between tables. The staff were courteous, obliging and the waiter served us with a wonderful smile. I would certainly recommend Greenans as a great place to go for a meal and/or a drink. We have already been advising all our friends and family about it. We aim to go back to it in the not too distant future although we have to travel from the Ards Peninsula.

My husband and I have been here a number of times most recently we used the groupon voucher and It was wonderful! The staff are so welcoming and nothing is too much trouble. The service was quick and the food was yummy! I shall be returning soon.

I have now eaten in this restaurant four times and It is a lovely place to eat after driving/walking in the Mournes. The restaurant is between Castlewellan and Kilkoo and is easy to drive past. Don't! The food is good, well cooked and there is a reasonable menu. The staff are friendly and efficient. I went as I had a Groupon voucher and have returned for the food. Sizzlers are lovely, the burgers not as good but still ok. Prices are reasonable. Well worth a visit. I noticed rharkin2 got too many veg. I love veg so am very happy! You will not leave here hungry.

My partner and I went to Greenans on Sat 1st June after buying a groupon voucher for £20 which included two sizzlers dishes with a sauce & a rice/potato dish and two desserts. Upon arrival we wer greeted by a very helpful waittress who took our names , drink order and we wer asked to wait in the lounge while waiting on our table to be ready , which was lovely to just sit and enjoy our drinks beforehand, made us feel so at ease! Myself and my partner both opted for the sizzlers special (prawns & strips of chicken and beef) I got mine with the hot and spicy sauce, he got his in creamy garlic and we both got garlic saute potatos , all was delish! only thing was we don't like vegetables and if we wer to go again would would ask it with out , becuase there was a lot of veg (if your the same take this tip). My partner then got the chocolate fudge cake and i opted for the cheesecake which was both lovely.. and a bargin for £20! We also decided to get a starter which was a combination of chicken wings, garlic bread and breaded mushrooms, we both had an alcoholic drink and I got a mocha with my dessert, so all we had to pay to it was £13 that night got the starter and drinks! We ran into one hic up wen my partner was served the wrong drink although this was quickly rectified :) I really enjoyed this meal, service was prompt and friendly.. i would most definitely return! (just wish we lived closer ;)

Went to Greenans 11th May 2013 after buying a groupon voucher for £20 to include two sizzler dishes with sauce & side and two desserts. Myself and my husband opted for the sizzling special (prawns & strips of chicken & beef), mine was cooked in pepper sauce, my husband in teriyaki accompanied by garlic sauté potatoes . Food was piping hot and absolutely gorgeous. For afters I had apple crumble and custard and my husband had mint aero cheesecake. Our dessert was gorgeous, I especially enjoyed the apple crumble. The staff were very pleasant and attentive. What a bargain! Definitely worth the money, we will return.

Having passed Greenan's many times over a number of years, we had never ventured in until I spied good Tripadvisor reviews. It's local so we decided to give it a try. The favourable reviews seem quite justified - with really flavoursome steak followed by a light apple crumble which really hit the spot. They have a good value early bird steak meal for 2 with a bottle of house wine - which seems to be excellent value. Staff were friendly and efficient - even while the Chef was celebrating a new arrival. Congratulations Chef !Decor and arrangement is simple and unpretentious - clean as a whistle.We intend to re-visit soon.

We were in the restaurant last weekend, we were greeted by friendly staff. The atmosphere in Greenans was lovely and the food was to match. Great value for money and was a very clean pub.

Visited Grenan's last night with me Husband. It was a return trip having had our first great meal in Greenan's late last year, we decided to go back. Sometimes your memory of a place is not what you thought and you are left disappointed but this was definately not the case here.Like the last time, we were greeted at the door as soon as we arrived, given menu's and a drinks order was taking. Rather than having to ask, we were offered a jug of water when the waiter took our drinks order.From memory of our last visit I remembered thinking that the staff seemed all very well trained and efficient and this was certainly the case again. In fact, one waiter seemed to be able to manage almost single-handedly with someone stepping in when required.The food was of a very high standard and great value for money and like the last time the dessert was just to die for! My husband got the apple crumble and custard which just melted in your mouth - had I tasted it beforehand I would have ordered it for sure!I like everything about this place, the toilets were spotlessly clean and the atmosphere is just nice and homely. The staff all seem happy in their job and are attentive without being over-bearing which puts me of a lot of other places!A credit to the owners, well worth a try and we will def be back.

A nice clean bright restaurant was the thought as we entered Greenans for our first visit. We perused the Dinner Menu and eventually we both decided on the same starters and main courses.The sweet chilli chicken and vegetable basket starter arrived piping hot and was extremely tasty. Our main course of Rib steak and chips was excellent. The steak was superb, juicy, nicely cooked and very tender. The chips were chunky and well cooked and the portion of vegetables served with the main course were lovely. We ordered a portion of french fried onions which were also of matching quality and quantity. The staff are very friendly and welcoming and the service top notch. We are looking forward to returning to Greenans in the near future.

Visited Grennans on Sunday evening. Food was fabulous and staff were very helpful and friendly. Very nice surroundings, tastefully decorated and spotlessly clean. Will definitely be going back soon

this is a very clean pub/restaurant its not your top of the range type restaurant but for good food and plenty of it, served by very friendly and helpful staff at a reasonable price you cant go far wrong.

Went Friday night after hearing family members rave about greenans steakhouse ! Staff very friendly and very welcoming although we were not booked and the restaurant was full the staff did manage to get us a table very quickly I must say the staff were an absolute delight they actually recommended dishes of the menu which is rare to find these days and as for the food all I could say please order the ribs you will not be disappointed a BBQ sauce with a little kick and the steaks just perfection no fat or grizzle and was like cutting melted butter . we didn't try the desserts as we had no room left! Well done to all at greenans keep up the good work Thomas jennings

Yes, another Groupon voucher utilized for a Greenans visit.I must say i was thoroughly impressed with the food the service and the general ambiance (even though we arrived at 4.45 on a Saturday afternoon).My wife had the soup and i plumped for the goars cheese starter....oh man, both were delicious. We both went for the sirloin for main courses, mine medium to well and my wifes well done. Again both were very good....and yes you can taste the difference in the way they were served. The steaks were fairly big and as a consequence my wife couldnt finish hers so i had the opportunity to sample the well done alongside the medium to well done. Both were served with 2 sides of your choice, so we ordered 4 and split them. Dessert menus duly arrived and after some deliberation i opted for the mint chocolate chip cheesecake. My better half said she was full and couldnt manage to fit in a dessert - so the kind waiter offered to issue this part of the meal as a carry out....very kind indeed.My only gripe about the entire experience was this - red wine should not be served chilled, and my Californian Merlot was just too cold. You could not pick up the flavours because of this!! Anyway as i say it was a tiny blemish on what was a lovely dining sojourn. Well done to all at Greenans

Like the last review, went to Greenan's last night with my Husband on the Groupon deal. We were greeted straight away when we went in, a drink order was taken and we were given our menus. It wasn't long until we were taken in to the dining room and starters were served straight away which were delicious.All of the staff seemed busy and professional and the place had a very homely feel about it. Main courses did not dissapoint either and portions were very good. We ordered a side order of chips and french fried onions which again were generous and piping hot.Bit of confusion when we were asked did we want to see a dessert menu as I actually thought that dessert was included in the groupon deal. I wasn't certain however and didn't say anything but we did go ahead and order dessert. This was the highlight for me, Terry's Choc Orange cheesecake. It was beautiful!All in all, great night and lovely atmosphere. I have only ever bought one of these groupon deals before, for the Primrose Bar in Ballynahinch and although I wouldn't consider myself to be overly fussy - I was totally disappointed by the service we got.I could definately not say the same for Greenan's, staff were friendly and it was nice to see somewhere where the staff actually looked like the knew what they were doing and wanted to be there.Having looked at the Groupon voucher again today, I would still be under the impression that our desserts should not have been charged for, however, they were well worth paying for!We will definately be back....

4 of us went here last night though groupon deal, very impressed, food and service was excellent, we didn't have to wait long for our food to be served either, , large portions which is great too, maeve our waitress was brilliant, couldn't do enough for us, will be back again v . Soon, keep up the good work :)

We were well impressed with Greenans. From the friendly welcome when we arrived, reading the menu my mouth was watering thinking about the BBQ ribs, sizzling chicken in hot & spicy sauce, then the homemade cheesecake. They have a kids areas which I think is a great idea. Lovely relaxing waiting area & 2 cosy eating areas. The food was to die for & great value. Kids get free drink & ice cream for £4.95. We will be back soon

I was very impressed with the selection of food on offer. The early bird menu is priced at £12.95 for two courses which had a good choice. The childrens menu was only £4.95 for a main course, drink and ice cream and the portions sizes were very generous. I had really delicious roasted tomato and bacon soup, followed by sizzling chicken in pepper sauce served with half chips/ half rice. The bill for two adults and two children with a drink each was £46 in total, and we all had starters and a maincourse.We all were too full to have a dessert but they looked lovely. The staff are so friendly and their service is excellent. I will be returning again soon.

Had got the Groupon deal for the Friday night,,where welcomed at the door and shown to a table that was beside a cosy fire.....order was taken and then when it was ready to be served we where brought into the dining area,where the waitress Una could not do enough for us..not only was the meal outstanding but the customer service was fantastic,we where made to feel like part of the community.needless to say we went again on the saturday and took the advice of Una as to what we should try if we came again...we where welcome like old friends..so i would recommend this restaurant to anyone and have to customers that have come shopping in Belfast that live in this direction..cant wait until we go again,will be worth the drive,from Carrickfergus

I visited the restaurant with family and the food was good but i was dismayed to see the state of the toilets in the bar area. The urinals are overflowing and there is a filthy rubber mat on the floor, the smell of urine was overwhelming. If you can judge a restaurant on the condition of its toilets then Greenans toliets reflect really badly on the restaurant.I would like to see this issue resolved if i were to return as this is a simple matter to resolve and would greatly improve the overall experience experience.

Had a lovely meal here with friends and my partner on a Saturday night. Really enjoyed the food and loads of it! Have been for a Sunday dinner before and it was lovely as well. Nice fire to sit by, the only criticism I would have is that the bar man was a bit of a strange character, not a very welcoming person, and he was trying to throw everyone out at around 11 which isnt ideal on a Saturday night especially when we had travelled 40 miles to get there. But the waitresses were lovely and more than welcoming to us! Will definitely be back!
