Courtneys Steakhouse in Newry and Mourne

Had a family meal here tonight. Adult food and kids food was excellent. Best we've had in Newry. Dessert and cocktails also fantastic. Service 10/10 also. Highly recommend.

Just had a great "steak dinner meal deal" downstairs. Food was great. Whoever reared the lad who was in charge and served us, he's a credit to you. What a very pleasant guy. Oh, and the food was excellent.

Without doubt, the best steak I've had out in a very long time, Also, all the staff have a can do attitude, The chef definitely knows what he is doing, With regards to the prices, you won't get better value for this quality anywhere, looking forward to returning to Courtney's.

We went to Courtney’s Steakhouse for a dinner for 2 and everything was 10/10. The service, the drinks and the food was amazing and great value for money. Very rare to find a place that ticks all the boxes these days and this place was unbelievable. We will be travelling from Dublin again just for another steak!

Courtneys steakhouse is mine and my husbands favourite restaurant. It has the best steak and crab claws I have ever ate. So it was the first place I thought of when we were arranging a Christening party for our twins. We already knew the food was going to be amazing but the whole experience did not dissappoint. Firstly, Paula the restaurant manageress made everything so effortless, from initial arrangements to following up, she ensured everything was perfect for us. We booked the cocktail bar downstairs for a private function of just under 30 people including 7 children. We had a separate table for the children to do arts and crafts and it worked perfectly so the adults could enjoy catching up and eating in Peace 😆. We had a two course Sunday lunch and Christening cake for dessert. The menu was beautiful with plenty of choice and we did not need to pre order. The food was honestly beautiful. I tasted a bit of everyone's at my table and I honestly couldn't pick a favourite dish. The children also had a great selection to chose from including steak and chips which were HUGE! Jugs of water and juice were provided on the tables as well as big generous slices of homemade wheaten and their famous guinness bread. My sister and mum loved it thst much they bought some loaves to take home. The small details that the staff went to didn't go unnoticed. They even provided a stunning gold cake slice and knife to match in with our colour scheme, and cute little boxes for anyone who wanted to take cake home afterwards. The staff were just superb. They were tentative, friendly and amazing with the kids. Nothing was too much to ask for. They are a brilliant team. Overall a 5 star experience. If I could give more stars I would. I highly recommend Courtney's steakhouse in general to anyone I meet, but if you need to book a private function, I wouldn't consider anywhere else. Thank you for making our twins day so amazing 👏

Absolutely beautiful steak. Think it's the best steak I've ever eaten. The flavour was phenomenal. Friendly staff. Lovely wine list. I can't remember the starter and dessert but I do remember they were delicious. You won't leave hungry.

We called in last night and it was just beautiful. The waiter who served us was so attentive, really great atmosphere just so relaxed. The food was delicious 10/10 also 10/10 for the service it was just delightful.The beautiful bread before our meal was an extra bonus. All together a great experience.

Dropped in early without a booking and Stephen looked after us really well. Pleasant , relaxed and comfortable surroundings overlooking the Quay. Cliona and the team provided excellent customer service, the food was incredible. There was a number of dietary requirements in our group of 20 and they catered to them all.

What a beautiful steak house .We were a party of 16 last night .The food ,service, cleanliness .hospitality was top class. We were out for a nice Sunday outing and wanted to have food on the way home. After hearing great things about Courtneys we rang and booked a table. We were warmly greeted by the staff downstairs who directed us upstairs. The staff were again very welcoming and gave us a lovely table by the window. Although this is a steakhouse there were good range of non steak options. We were provided with a lovely selection of breads to start and then small cups of the soup of the day …delicious. We were a part of 4, 3 opted for the slow cooked lamb shank with couscous and one having ribeye stick. Everything was perfectly cooked and the lamb was melt in the mouth with such great flavours. The steak I am informed was perfection. We had brownie for dessert again beautiful. I will definitely be returning and highly recommend this great restaurant

I was at this restaurant to celebrate my birthday after a day hiking in the Mourne Mountains. The food was delicious and the service was amazing. For starters we had the Carlingford crab claws with tiger prawns and goats cheese pannacotta (pics attached). As mains we had the 10oz fillet steak with parmesan and truffle fries (no pics). It was a lot of food in the end, and we had trouble finishing it, and had no room for dessert. We will definitely come back when in Newry or this area. Highly recommend!

A relief on the steak culinary in Ireland. Ever since I’ve been to Ireland the last three weeks its been hard to get a steak properly cooked right. Right on my last night they have saved the reputation of Ireland for steaks for me. The venue is lovely overlooking the canal and the attention to detail is remarkable at this place, even some literature is provided in the toilet for lengthy visits to the loo. Moisturizer is also a big plus for me. The special crispy egg for the risotto starter is beautiful. As a connoisseur of eggs I must say the very fresh orange colored yolk can only mean that it was sourced it from a very good local place. The staff is very lovely and attentive, we really felt welcomed and well cared for.

Delicious starters starters with a nice touch of creativity, steak cooked to perfection, and a great selection of drinks including a large number of wine, whisky and cocktail options. It is a great restaurant for anniversaries or birthdays, or stopover for a great dinner on the way back from Mourne Mountains.

We were visiting Newry while on holiday and decided to stop here for lunch. A friendly welcome and the meals we had were excellent. Would definitely recommend this gem for its friendly and helpful staff and delicious food!

Look, the star rating speaks for itself. This is BY BAR the best steakhouse, and possibly the best restaurant, that I’ve ever eaten in. The food is just divine, and the servers are wonderful. I could write for ages about our experiences here but there’s no point. Just try it for yourself.

Our party of 5 gathered in this stylish restaurant for Sunday lunch. We were greeted by friendly staff especially a waitress with chat and a smile. The menu was varied with a great choice for both adults and children. A complimentary soup taster with bread was served to offset any wait time. The beef daub was tender and tasty. Food enjoyed by everyone. Would recommend this to anyone.

A genuinely fantastic experience at this gem in central Newry. Arranged a family dinner for 20 at 10 days’ notice - Paula was a star and nothing was too much trouble from our first exchange of emails to taxis at the end of the night. The welcome was warm and friendly and the service absolutely faultless throughout. As a ‘steakhouse’ you would expect the beef to be good but the steaks had a fabulous depth of flavour, came beautifully aged and marbled, and were cooked to perfection - bravo! The rest of the food was equally good from the perfect seafood ravioli to the delicious crème brûlée. The whole experience was truly memorable from beginning to end and I could not recommend this family run restaurant more highly.

Pat Courtney clearly knows his meat, as he has been a butch all his life, but he also knows how to get great staff to provide excellent service. I had a fantastic meal on Friday night at a private party- some of the best steak I have had with excellent service and catered for 20 people to a very high standard. Highly recommend. Dined here with some friends recently and all bar one had a steak.Quality was fantastic as everyone else before me has stated and the sauces were also excellent.My main gripe would be with the size of the side order portions-they really are tiny.

Don’t know Newry so well. Went down for unveiling of Pat Jennings statue. Stumbled across Courtney’s after the ceremony, while walking around. Hadn’t had any brekky so decided upon a wee (actually not so ‘wee’) fry… Very friendly staff, positive experience and great coffee. Defo hit the spot… Recommended….

Another great night in Courtneys. We usually go at the weekend so this was our first time trying the Thursday steak night - it was great. We had gorgeous starters - 1 x prawn and crab claw, 1 x evening's special. We were able to upgrade our wine to a malbec. Steak was great as usual. Paula looked after us on arrival, giving us the gorgeous window seat. She's gifted at making everyone feel very comfortable and is always a bit of craic. Another lovely evening, can't wait to get back.

Myself and my partner went in on Friday evening. Hats off to the chef & staff unbelievable experience. The special starter was a braised pork cheek & when I say it was hands down the nicest starter I’ve ever had in a restaurant I’m not saying it lightly. Will definitely be back

I suggest you make a reservation, we didn't, so they sat us at a double in the bar area. The room was full of empty tables that remained empty the 90 minutes we were there. That said, the food was amazing. The lamb so tender and its sauce delicious. The seafood salad, again, amazing. Some of the best food we ate on the Isle.

I searched on Trip Advisor for the 10 best restaurants in Newry and Courtneys came out on top. We were a group of 12 people and requested the back room for privacy as we wanted to have a brief meeting before dining. There was no extra charge for this excellent facility. The food was absolutely amazing as was the standard of service. Paula handled all the booking details and was very attentive to all requests. Terrific choice of starters, mains and desserts and excellent value for money. Won't need to search next time - straight back to Courtneys. BTW - steakhouse doesn't do the restaurant justice - they have excellent fish, chicken, vegetarian etc. options

What can I say I have no words, as a chef myself I love good food I took my mum tonight unbelievable food and unbelievable service, Paula the manager it's a credit to her and to caira and the girls first class service definitely worth a visit 5 stars x

Dreadful experience on Friday.. Ordered the lasagne meal.. Had to leave it.. No pasta, not exactly sure what passed for the meat?? ( dry as a bone!) So disappointed.. Mentioned this at the till.. Nothing could be done about it.. Just had to pay for something I couldn't eat.. Needless to say.. I won't be back.. Poor service all round..

We had a fantastic experience here a couple of weeks ago - the aesthetics of the place are stunning, cozy and the vibe was great, good music and not too loud - we were 4 of us, 2 being kids, the waiter and kitchen staff were so over the top to keep the kids happy, not only by bringing their food earlier than ours (super quick) but by being engaging to them throughout the evening. This is important to us as we always take our kids to our date nights and not everyone is welcome and accommodating to kids - the food was UNREAL specially those breads - so was the service in general - RECOMMENDED!!

This establishment is an absolute gem. The steaks are of immense quality, sourced from locally bred grass fed cattle. The server can even tell you which exact farm your meat comes from. My steak was cooked to perfection, accompanied by a whiskey and mushroom sauce...

Great steaks, pleasant surroundings and staff were polite,courteous and helpful. I enjoyed a fantastic fillet steak here and will return. The food is a bit pricey but it was worth it. The restaurant was busy when we visited on a Saturday night which sort of explains why it was difficult to get the waiters attention, however another waiter or 2 on the floor would put this place on top for restaurants in Newry. Having said that I would have taken a dessert but the dessert choices were limited and not to my liking, no cheesecake, no tiramisu. Definitely worth a visit though.

Lovely evening for my son's birthday at the launch of the Tapas menu....really enjoyed the selection of tapas including prawn pil pil, wings, ribs, patatas bravas & pork belly. Very tasty and will be back again soon. Service was excellent...staff very professional & friendly.

Not impressed with the porterhouse steak as in it wasn't a porterhouse, in no way was it a 20oz steak(more like a 12oz) thin, very thin, for what you pay its very over priced, this used to be a great place to eat but letting standards slip which is sad to see. The recent investment in the opening of the lounge area, adds greatly to the comfort and hospitality offered. Best whiskey choice in the area and consistently great food make this a must for private dining, social business meals. Relaxed welcoming atmosphere makes for a great occasion, no matter the reason.
