Grand Central Kitchen Birmingham in Birmingham

Visited Birmingham recently and didn’t fancy a hotel breakfast, found this place via google and decided to give it a try. Slightly tricky to find due to scafffolding on building managed to walk by it the first time. It is a small but homely cafe, patrons are packed in fairly tight but this gives a good atmosphere. Coffee was outstanding according to my wife who used to work in that industry. The food was excellent we both opted the cooked English breakfast. Service was also quick friendly and efficient. If I ever find myself back in Birmingham I’ll certainly return

lured here via TRIPADVISOR. My god how can a person be wrong. Now of course we all know that the standard for the English when it comes to food is not at a very high level, but this must also disappoint them. When you enter, there are 4 men looking at you to see what you are doing. Eventually someone with a fake Italian accent comes and asks what the intention is. Well we would like to have lunch. Well that was possible, just mention that they closed at 4 p.m. Ordered pizzas. Or were they pizzas?? Ready-made bases with tomato sauce were neatly removed from the plastic after which some vegetables, meat and cheese were sprinkled over them. You read that right... ready-made pizza bases including tomato sauce. They were shoe soles...and everything on them had no taste. (Not for all 5 pizzas) So turn around at the front door, don't do this to yourself!!

Loved the place. Great hot chocolate and chicken BBQ pizza. Prompt service and friendly staff. Would recommend.

Easily the best independent cafe in Birmingham! I went for the Full English Breakfast and Chai Latte. The Full English was absolutely delicious, food was hot, high quality and very filling. The price was very fair for the portion as well. The chai latte was really tasty too. The customer service was amazing, super friendly staff and very welcoming. Definitely worth a visit 👏

We were there a few days ago, the waitress service was bad since she pressured us to order something, the food had no flavour and was very bad for the price we paid, I do not recommend eating in this place

Had heard excellent things about this spot for a while, so decided to visit for lunch today. I must say, it did not disappoint! I ordered the Smoked salmon ciabatta. It was hot, fresh & delicious! I also had a side of chips & a chai latte, both were delectable. The staff were lovely & welcoming, delivering very fast service. Highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a delicious, hearty brunch spot!

I visited yesterday, and honestly, the service was terrible. The waitress was incredibly rude, practically rushing us to order. Plus, she didn't even bother to mention the extra fees for our order. And don't get me started on the food, it was bland and tasteless. To top it off, I ended up with a stomachache later that day after eating there.

What a find! Opens at 6.30am and contains the friendliest guy in Birmingham. I've been in for breakfast a couple of times and watched his regular customers come and go and every one of them gets a boost from this guy. The food is good. Not michelin star, but the omelette is excellent and coffee is hot and strong. I'm going to not include breakfast with my hotel stays from now on so I can visit more and become a regular myself. Bravo team!

Great full English breakfast, EXCEPT for the mushrooms. I love mushrooms, but they were that dark colour, that way they go when they are old. I can never understand this practice. Do you know how long you can keep fresh mushrooms for before they go that dark colour and loose their consistency? 10 days easy. So why not get fresh mushrooms in say twice a week, or even once?! I still enjoyed my breakfast, great staff, but…! Fresh mushrooms = 5*.

A fantastic breakfast of omelette with mushroom, cheese & onion on whole meal toast with a bit of a kick, really delicious and set me up for the train journey and day ahead! Wonderful staff, super convenient for the station and critically fab coffee! Would definitely recommend!

Very cozy place, feels like a family owned restraunt and I'd be very surprised if it isn't. All the food tastes great and for a solid breakfast for two people is under 20 pounds including a drink! Affordable (Even for Uni students), lovely breakfast or one more round of drinks 🤷‍♂️ Staff are friendly, attentive and courteous. Place is always busy but not so busy you want to pull your hair out. Steady flow. Great location just outside new street station. Highly recommend, been here everytime I've stopped from Birmingham.

I have been travelling up and down from London to Brum and in a moment of weakness had a breakfast at the Wetherspoons inside New St Station. No need to do that again, 10meters outside the station is this delightful place. Fantastic service very friendly from the second I walked through the door and food was delivered quickly. Food was great, my only recommendation would be to have some extras available like black pudding or hash browns but based on what they sell 5STARS. Will be returning soon.

The food tastes good, but the air is very poor and greasy. Clothes and hair will be full of oily smell. I guess there is no range hood installed.

I’m a regular visitor to The Grand Central Kitchen in Birmingham so thought it was time I gave it a review, this has to be the best breakfast in Birmingham, all the food here is excellent, fresh, well prepared & presented, the restaurant is always clean & all the staff are polite, friendly & welcoming, well worth a visit.

Came here with a bunch of work colleagues and we were all very impressed. There were 9 of us but they moved some tables around to fit us all in which was great and the food and coffee come nice and quick. Choice of 3 eggs which is always nice and very affordable. Will for sure return.

Popped in whilst waiting for a connecting train as it’s so close and this place is amazing! Grabbed a lovely breakfast baguette with poached eggs and the coffee is 10/10 definitely recommend!

Always stop in in the morning to get a coffee before work. hot and tasty every single time! The staff are always lovely and as im a regular have my coffee being prepared as soon as they see me so im alwats in an out fairly quickly

Best place to eat breakfast in Birmingham - excellent food and staff! Ordered a large cafe latte, which was generously proportioned and way tastier than anything I have drunk from a chain coffee shop. Ordered toast and scrambled eggs - not on the menu, but I fancied it, and Sina (the host with the most) was more than happy to prepare it for me. Staff are very friendly, and you always receive a warm, friendly (and genuine) welcome from Sina, who always stops at your table to have a chat.

Being gluten and caffeine intolerant I always struggle to find accommodating cafes. This place is amazing . Gluten free avo and poached eggs on toast with decaf soya latte, omg amazing! Working in the hospitality industry myself it’s important to recognise great businesses and service . The staff can’t do enough for you and very attentive Thank you

I’ve been a number of times and always received excellent food and service. Great spot for a breakfast and decent coffee. Polite waiters, great to be served at the table, and nothing was too much trouble.

Came here for breakfast before shopping with the wife aas the reviews were so good and it did not dissapoint! We were ssated very quickly even though it was busy. The staff were very friendly and more than happy to cater for my wife as she is gluten free. Great food, great staff, cant go wrong.

The omelette was cooked perfectly, and the coffee was delish. My partner enjoyed his full English as well, only slight recommendation would be adding hash browns as an option but is preference and was still incredible. The service was also incredible and extremely friendly. Would happily go back any time.

Decided to pop in on the way to work last week, Food was pretty good, slightly overpriced but I couldn't get over the cross contamination of everything, I was there for about half an hour and the guy making the food didn’t change his gloves once while prepping and cooking food, just kept wiping his hands/gloves on his apron. Furnishings and decor were covered in dust, and the frames above the food prep area were thick with dirt. Kind of a shame because they had great service, but don’t think I’ll be going back.

The reviews were great, so went to experience what all the fuss was about. A very short wait on this occasion, although very soon a queue did form. However, the team are very efficient in clearing tables and getting people into the restaurant, without at any time feeling as if you were being hustled through the process for the next customer. The food choice was very good and the quality was even better. The prices are extremely good value and the team will consider any alternatives if you have a different preference. We will go here again when in Birmingham, although with reviews is too good, we may have a wait for service. But, that wait will be worth it, to experience the team and food again. Superb.

Better than your average café! Great choice of food with generous portions, a friendly welcome and great service! Just outside New Street Station so a great place to refuel after a train journey. Excellent value for money. I thoroughly recommend this establishment and I will definitely be visiting again!!

Another business breakfast in Birmingham. Quite nice basic cafe. Oddly the omelettes are treated like pizza bases that are then topped off with ham etc. Have to say £10.95 for two egg omelettes on toast seems a bit on the expensive side but they were nice nonetheless.

My husband took me here for breakfast, before we got the train back to Scotland. What an impressive place this is. Staff are amazing and very friendly, service was out of this world. Food was perfect and very tasty. Will definitely be back when I next visit.

Right across the street from the station we found the perfect breakfast spot, the Veggie breakfast and House omelette very so good! The place is small and gets packed fast, there's usually a queue, but it moves fast

The perfect breakfast experience! From the moment you step inside ‘Grand Central Kitchen’ everything is simply perfect. Greeted at the door with a welcoming smile, seated at a cosy, immaculately clean table, time to settle and peruse the extensive menu before orders are taken. The kitchen is open-planned and it's interesting to watch the well orchestrated staff as they prepare your breakfast. Everything is cooked to order - and cooked to perfection! I had the Full English and my wife the Smoked Salmon mmm … delicious 😋 in the words of Arnold Schwarzenegger, “I’ll be back!”

Came here for the English breakfast. We dined in. Nice place and friendly staff. Tables were neat and staff was lively. I think I had a bit more than I planned to, and that was because, the meal got me 😊. I recommend.

Nice, special place. Great and tasty breakfast and rich coffee. Friendly and quick service. Perfect morning if you interchange at the station, it's just a few steps away.

The 3 is only because of the food. It was unfortunately very very bland.. no seasoning on the avo, mushrooms or tomato. Sausages were basically cold and soft. As if they've been microwaved on defrost and then nothing else done to them. I'm sure other options may be better but for vegan stuff maybe not their thing. Service was good, attentive but as they are busy it did feel rushed. The atmosphere was great as it was so busy. Probably wouldn't return for vegan food.

Breakfast is ok ,nothing extraordinary nothing wrong with it.Well cooked and a typical English breakfast that has gluten free and vegan options.Service is caring and personal with a very positive attitude that makes you to want to visit again.And they do know what a double espresso is that is essential at least for me.Could do with a little bit of a music vibe in the background..Overall a very friendly and nice atmosphere .

Popped in this small cafe while exploring the city and wow!! Super friendly and knowledgeable staff and the food was piping hot and delicious. I enjoyed their smashed avocado with a couple of poached eggs which were cooked perfectly.. 10/10

Amazing staff, they are very welcoming. Started off with coffee, and I am sorry to say it tasted just like milk! When asked if it's a single shot because it's really milky, they said yes and that's how it is. My company had hot chocolate and said the same about his. Coffee - don't recommend if you want yours to wake you up. For food, I had the veggie english breakfast, and I really liked the veg sausage! However, I had better expectations for scrambled eggs, tomatoes, and mushrooms. Including some potatoes could've been nice. That's probably why I felt it was a bit pricey for what they offered. But the avocado toasts on other tables looked delish!

The food was awesome, great portion size and decent price, I can see why it's so popular opposite the train station. The first two times we tried to go there was a queue outside so we had gone somewhere else but were determined to get in because of the queueing! It was nice, and the service was great and very fast, lovely staff. However I thought it was too small, crowded, busy and hot for my personal taste though. The place really is tiny!

One of the best breakfast places I have been to in the UK. Even if you have an hour to spare at Birmingham N St station this gem is definitely worth a visit. I’d left my glasses on the train so couldn’t read the menu and just rattled off a list of things I’d like. I ended up with this beauty that covered the entire plate. Smashed avo on sourdough toast topped with smoked salmon, a slice of halloumi and finished with a poached egg. Mushrooms on the side and rocket as a garnish. Absolutely delish. The coffee was decent too The staff are amazing and super friendly 6 stars.

Good quality café food, bustling with atmosphere situated opposite Grand Central station. Will be going again and trying more of what they have to offer.

Absolutely delicious food at a really reasonable price. Dropped on this place by accident but will definitely be coming here again. The steady stream of customers and all tables being filled as soon as they became available says it all. The staff were lovely too.

Absolutely thrilled with our experience at Grand Central Kitchen, right next to Grand Central B'ham. The food was nothing short of amazing, making it the top spot for breakfast in the city center. Special shoutout to Majid for his incredibly tasty recommendations-->they were spot on! The cozy atmosphere of this small gem is paired with big quality that guarantees we will be back for more.
