Gourmet Burger Kitchen (GBK) in Thurrock

Unacceptable. I paid for 3 smashed patties with bacon egg on and extra beef and it turned up one patty no egg no bacon no extra beef. Unacceptable

I had ordered 2 veggie beyond meat burgers and 1 beef classic burger. The labels were incorrect and the beef burger was in the beyond meat box. For personal reasons I am a strict vegetarian and I do not eat meat. I rung GBK to inform them and they advised to complain to just eat? I am so shocked at the response but more so, how does a mistake like this happen??

This place is just ok. The burgers are expensive for the size and quality. What I found annoying is that student discount is only available Mon-Fri until 5pm. Those are pretty much the times when a student is expected to be at university! So stop pretending you have a student discount...

I came here on the 16th of september 2024 and must I say!! This restraunt has the best customer service i have seen especially Jess she was an absouloute angel. She was very helpful and had full knowledge of all the allergens. I will be back . Thank you so much Jess and GBK for the wonderful time (Jess deserves a raise.)

Came here for first time today and burgers were really good

Most of the meal was great the only let down was the beer was warm

Poor service, we received the wrong order on multiple occasions in one sitting, food missing from the order, drinks missing. We asked for specific ingredients to be removed but this was not adhered to. I asked for my burger to be cooked medium, I received rare, then medium rare and an egg!!! I complained to the manager just to be told that they are short staffed and sometimes these things happen. This is the worse service I've received at a GBK. SATURDAY 27TH OF JULY 2024 18:05

Food was very nice, service wasn't great. Got placed at a small corner table when 60% of the place was empty, would have been nice to have a booth . Not asked if we required anything else once we received our food, staff looked a little miserable and the plates were pretty much thrown down in front of us

Ordered food from here, order took 30 mins, when food was delivered the wrong order was given to the driver. Called the restaurant and they said they can’t re send the food I have to call just eat to process a refund and re order the food. Unacceptable.

Very long wait from making the order to actually receiving the food. Like 45minutes wait. Would have been quicker to go shop. But in all food was fantastic. Guess all good things comes to those who waits

After a long day of shopping I was looking for a good meal but instead I was told by our waitress that I was wrong and obviously didn’t know how to read. I was flabbergasted. I asked the waitress if I could share my concerns about the menu with the manager and she asked if I thought the manager was stupid too. I was left speechless!! Horrified by her treatment, I asked my family if they had had enough abuse for one day and we all got up and left. I don’t care how good your food may be…nobody should be abused by a server in that way. All she had to say was I’m sorry for any confusion and if you would like to speak with the manager I can get them for you. How difficult is it to be nice to customers? I can promise that I won’t be returning and I will sharing my experience with everyone.

Went there for the first time, 5 of us, and were very disappointed. All the ads and pictures look very attractive. We spent £25pp for 1 drink and 1 burger and went out like never had food. The size of the burger was the same as mcdonalds for x5 price. Would never go back again.

Waited 20 minutes someone come and take an order. Staff are probably all actors, working in minimum wage.

Went in for brunch for the first time. Food was incredible and ordered a milkshake that is deadly....was so good! Service was fantastic. Would highly recommend

GBK have removed the self ordering and replaced it with table service so they can disguise a 'discretionary' service charge of 12.5% that comes automatically applied to your bill. We were a party of 3 so it's not even reserved for those tables with a significant number of diners. Absolutely shameful behaviour, tipping should be voluntarily offered and not expected.

Came here for the first time after shopping at lakeside. Very convenient location like the other places nearby. First the food is actually pretty good. Burger was cooked as we asked, good flavour and fair portion. Downside unfortunately was the service. We got seated quickly but wasn't actually served for over 20 minutes, despite the place not being so busy.

Decided to visit Gbk with my two children today. It was 3 o'clock afternoon- still pretty busy. I was greated at the door straight away, the host sat us down imediatly and brought a highchair for my baby without me having to ask. Manager Veronika was very helpful while I was ordering, sugested few things, everything was extremely tasty. The staff looked happy and was constantly smiling:) will definitely be back, one of the greatest experiences in the restaurant so far. Highly recomended

Visited at around 8.30pm on a Friday. Nice relaxed atmosphere and the service was fantastic. 2 kids with us both enjoyed different selections from the childrens menu. Thouroughly enjoyed the Taxi Driver burger. Will be back!

Lovely atmosphere. Was greeted at the door and shown to our seats. Given enough time to look at the menu and decide what we were having before being seen to. Food was really good. Will definitely be back when visiting Lakeside again.

I am a regular here, staff are always amazing, especially Henry, Jess and Veronica. The food is exactly how I want it every time. Always a good experience.

I been almost in 3 different restaurants from 20:40 and they all have the kitchen closed because it was not busy… I walked in this gourmet burger kitchen and I received a good welcome and service the place was even more quite the the others.. I enjoyed the hamburger 🍔 for that the service and atmosphere you deserve a 5 stars from me..

I have been frequenting GBK Lakeside for many months, when working away from home, it has become my evening dinner haven. The team always have a warm friendly welcome, the restaurant is always clean and tidy and the food is really well prepared - and tasty. Special mention to two staff members who always go above and beyond to make sure I'm okay - Caoimhe and Henry. Thank you for always making my visit a great one :)

Changed a lot , liked it before but must be a new Manager . Is sitting not helping even when people wait for tables but restaurant nearly empty but employee is on break She does not jump in . Table smells with beer - the lady which took our order went on break and no one else could add anything to the order or provide us the bill , in the end an OPTIONAL 10% service charge was put on the bill . So that was it for us with GBK as the service was bad we would not give a tip at that time

Waited 20 minutes before we were even asked what drinks we would like (seemed understaffed for the amount of people), milkshake wasn’t the right flavour and when we said this they laughed about it, both of us found a hair in our burgers, staff all seemed very stressed as if they were busy but then would stand around and could hear them gossiping every 10 minutes.

Very poor service, as told table service and still waiting 15 mins later. Ended up ordering online, much to the staffs astonishment. Food was ok, had better, but also far worse. Better choices around the area than here. Pity

Second time we have visited and really enjoyed our meals. Burgers were very tasty. Slightly pricey as you order everything separately but would recommend if you are visiting Lakeside.

What is going on GBK ? You are on the edge or losing it. Bring back those old panko coating on the burger, real skinny fries, green and red old sauces e.e. kiwi habanero , monkey nuts and everything what made you the best burger place in the UK.

Burgers have shrunk to mini burgers and ingredients/fillings changed for the California burger. Seems cost cutting gone bit too far and prices are the same

Quick lunch on Saturday before hitting the shops. Ordered on the app in store. Nice low alcohol beer!

First and last time here. Got a table nice and quickly and told someone will come over to take our order. Other people came in after us and got their order taken before us. No one noticed we were there at all. Food came quickly and so did drinks. I was disappointed that the meals didn't come with chips. Never knew a burger place to do that. But the part that really pissed me off was the 10% OPTIONAL tip. That isn't advertised anyway or was told about. As I paid I looked at the receipt and noticed it. I asked the waiter about this and they said " most people look at the receipt before they pay". No they don't not at a restaurant. It's not optional if no one mentions it or it's not shown anywhere. I wonder how much money they got from people doing that. Also the food is very expensive for what it is.

Disgraceful experience this evening. Turn up to the resturant tonight at 6.30pm. Half of the tables are empty yet was told by a manager (who looked about 16) that they was not seating anyone tonight due to no staff have had there breaks today and that he has to shut the kitchen. Yet delivery drivers still coming into collect orders like there is no tomorrow. Refused to let me go in and order to takeaway. Not well managed at all and on a Sunday evening to apparently shut the kitchen so early is terrible customer service.

Staff extremely attentive, was busy but staff managed to get our food to us quickly, very happy will be returning :)

Fantastic meal at GBK, staff were attentive and considerate. Food was served quickly and was hot. The truffle fries were fantastic. Really recommended after an afternoon of shopping!

As a previous mystery shopper. the Food was awful the meat was cheap tasted a lot like fire pit tescos burgers.Then frys you have to buy separately? Comes out in a mug size portion but your charged an arm for it. Alot of money for cheap burgers! The place has a great atmosphere how ever save your money and go to burger King or five guys or bills any where but here. Save your money. Don't be fooled by the photoshoped pictures.

Food is no better than ok and it's usually pretty flat atmosphere wise. They do a great milkshake though.

Food very tasty, staff really friendly and helpful but hygiene of restaurant itself and loos was very poor.

Won't be going back. The food was OK, but overpriced for what you get. Service was terrible. Orders where wrong. Sat there waiting for one of the many waiter or waitresses to come over, eventually realised we had to go order at the counter (no one even offered drinks). There was a group of 10 of us I accept, but the 1st meal came out around 10 minutes before the last meal was brought out. We then did get a waiter ask if we wanted deserts (where was he when we wanted to order mains/drinks), we placed a few orders he then said "you have to pay now" and produced card machine, we said "oh my son hasn't ordered yet", the waiter kind of huffed turned to him and grumpily said "what do you want".

Usual gbk menu with a lakeside terrace, that felt unkempt.

We went here at midday on a Friday (just after schools are back) and it was dead - like one other table in use. This was fine for us but don't go in there expecting "a vibe". Service was good - friendly chap got us seated and let us know we could order on app or they would come around. Ordered on app - drinks came in good time and then food arrived a short while after. Drinks (milkshake) were good and the food (Burger plus Double burger with beef and panko chicken) were really tasty. Fries were good. Not marking down as 5 stars really for the fact that the burger wasn't super hot (chicken was). Outside of that all was good - would go again.

Kids loved the chicken tenders. The jerk chicken burger was nice too. The Panko chicken is Halal. The vibe was relaxed too. The skinny fries were awesome.

Excellent experience at gbk lakeside, definitely recommend the Korean chicken burger. Credit to be given to the chefs and the front of house staff

Tasty food by the lake the only problem for me is the modern way of ordering, I am old fashioned I want to have a waitress or waiter at my table serving us not a poxy app, I often go out without my phone so I cant use apps freely.

Fantastic food and service. The chicken tenders on the child menu were a bit too spicy for my 3-year-old, but only because he prefers the flavourless rubbish nuggets from fast food places... 😅

The waiters were very friendly and extremely helpful. Had great suggestions particularly the Taxi Driver Burger. The boy with the Jordan’s and the blonde manager were great to talk to throughout the course of my meal, my daughter loved them.

I've been here numerous times and the food and service are always on point! The burgers are delicious and their onion rings are the best! Staff are always friendly and welcoming.

Not much to say. Staff looking bored and tired, even though it was just around midday and not too many customers. Food quite tasteless and no flavour. Loot of space for improvement.

If you get chance to visit GBK and are lucky enough to have Olly Martin as your waiter then you will have a happy kind speedy service. What an asset he is to the team. The most polite and helpful team member

over £40 for 2 of us to have a bang average burger, coleslaw and a drink. I had to go to the counter to ask for cutlery as well... It gets 1 star for the friendly staff. Never again though

Food okay, but disappointed that this is another place where the staff just bring food and drink to the table. Why is it you have to order via an app when there are people there perfectly capable of taking an order. Really detracts from the dining out experience. At the point of checkout on the app the bill defaults to include a 5% service charge that you'll need to override with 0. What's the service charge for when all they do is bring the food to the table?

We had such a great time here. The food was very very good. I tasted all the food that is on my photos and all had the right seasoning. The server, Veronica, was very kind and tended to our needs with professionalism, making the right recommendations for us. We had our child with us and he got some crayons and colouring sheet to be occupied. There is parking in the shopping centre complex and toilets are available, clean and well maintained.

Quite disappointed. I went back to this restaurant after a year and a half and it honestly feels the standards have dropped. Food was ok, the fries pretty awful; drinks... basically you pay £3 for what's essentially watered down squash but they call it strawberry and elderflower spritz... it was disgusting. The little service you get is not great either, when we got our food the person bringing it just put it all in one corner of the table, literally one corner where my husband had to catch the plates before they fell and pass them along. I get that it's tough times but with noticeable cuts like that it's just not worthwhile going to eat there anymore. It just was not a good experience.

Really nice place me and the wife were in a rush as going to cinema food came quick and was hot and really nice I had the Korean bbq chicken burger absolutely amazing thanks for a great experience guys (lakeside store near the new titanic)
