Gourmet Burger Kitchen in Brighton and Hove

STOP & TAKE A BITE OF THIS!! If you're looking for a veggie, vegan or meaty bite to eat this is the perfect drop in! Family friendly, an ideal pitstop for burger lovers trapped in the bustling lanes🍔 It's a fair price, great flavour and good portions - I had the loaded fries with my triple patty smash 🤤 DELICIOUS! This is my second visit to this GBK, the first was in 2019 and I think the food is better than before (which is rare.. we all know how places usually go down hill.. this place is on the up) Do you best to book a table as it can get pretty busy - they always welcome walk-ins Now I can't comment on the atmosphere for a normal day in this eatery as we visited in the ghostly period between Christmas and New years. Which means, I will visit again and update my review with a fair analysis of the atmosphere at least.

GBK has always been our go-to burger place when we visit Britain, starting many years ago at the previous Brighton Marina location. Unfortunately the burgers are now a shadow of what it once was, in quantity and quality. The Satay Chicken burger now has the size of a kids burger with the piece of grilled chicken just almost flat. The k-town burger wasn't any better and the kids chicken burger was even sadder. The fries were at least ok, but we did miss the sweet potato fries of the old menu, which were great with the baconaise. With the low value for money we all agreed this was probably our last visit. The staff were great and delivered good service.

The burger was tasteless. Super salty and other than that no other taste.

Love the burgers here and the staff are polite and patient! Plenty of seating, good menu and in a great place for the North Lanes. Enjoy!

This used to be one of my boyfriend's favourite restaurants but since covid the menu and the items have declined so much in quality and don't even resemble a shadow of what it once was. Freshly made blue cheese sauce now replaced with what was confirmed as bottled sauce that separates in the bowl; a variety of thick beef patty burgers replaced with thin poorly executed smash burgers; the juicy grilled chicken replaced with a very thin slice - even thinner than the pre-cooked sliced roast chicken you get from Sainsbury's; the size of items has been reduced to half if not more; other well known American chains may be derided for their high prices but at least we have not left feeling as our food has been subpar in taste and quality. This is not to denigrate the staff but seems to be a corporate decision gone wrong. Staff is always nice, welcoming and attentive.

Cuando llegaron las hamburguesas se puso peor! ¿Eran más pequeños de lo que recuerdo, y los bollos eran patéticos? ¿Algo que puedas conseguir en Mac Donald’s? Definitivamente ya no es gourmet, ¿más Mac Burger Kitchen?

First time dining here and had a great experience. Food was amazing and our server Joe was exceptional! Polite, kind and made me feel very comfortable, will definitely come back again!

Nuestro servidor tomó nuestro pedido y dejó una gran impresión, tanto yo como mi socio ansioso por dar propina a nuestra camarera. Las bebidas llegaron un poco despacio teniendo en cuenta que no había más de 2 mesas. La comida llegó a tiempo. Conseguimos las bebidas de recarga, y tuvimos que hacer todo lo posible para pedir una recarga. Nadie ofreció una reposición. Nos sentimos demasiado incómodos para pedir una segunda recarga mientras estábamos comiendo nuestra cena, ya que nadie vino y se fijó en nosotros. Y después de terminar nuestra comida y apilar nuestros platos, nadie vino y despejó nada ni ofreció pudines durante unos buenos 5-10 minutos. Mi pareja necesitaba usar el baño y así mientras pasaba preguntaba si podíamos tomar un batido Oreo. El batido llegó rápidamente, pero al entregar el batido nuestros platos no fueron limpiados. Tuvimos que ir a la caja para pagar ya que no habíamos visto a nuestra camarera desde que tomó nuestro pedido. Normalmente no escribiría una queja, pero vimos al personal fumar / vapear y sin embargo nadie podía dedicar tiempo a registrarse en nosotros o limpiar nuestra mesa. La comida era increíble.

Incluso con su personal educado, servicial y trabajador yendo de plano, te preguntarás por qué tu comida tarda años y llega fría. Es porque las comidas para llevar obviamente tienen prioridad sobre su asiento - en los clientes. Mientras espera, se sorprenderá por la cantidad de personas en el restaurante con cascos de motocicleta que se pasan bolsas de comida fresca caliente mientras ve sus papas fritas en el pase. Es posible que obtenga su comida más rápido y más caliente si pide a Deliveroo mientras está sentado en el restaurante. Salvará a los 12. 5% de cargo por servicio también.

Walked in to GBK before attending an event at Brighton Dome. Very friendly and attentive staff. Joseph was lovely and nothing was too much trouble. Food was great and came out very quickly. Would definitely come back

We visited GBK on Thursday evening in Brighton and Joe was exceptional in his service! I worked in service 10+ years and also lived in the US for 3years so I notice when someone is attentive, warm, friendly, checks in, gives advice on orders etc - Joe did all of that and really caught my attention as an excellent server. I was already planning on mentioning this to him and thanking him, when he mentioned it was only his first week at GBK and politely asked if we'd leave a review. I always forget but on this occasion I wanted to make sure I made a point to highlight him. Thanks again Joe! Also the food was brilliant as always, can't fault a great burger.

Mi esposo, hijo y yo vinimos ayer 19 de septiembre, por primera vez para celebrar el cumpleaños número 13 de mi hijo, el servicio fue fantástico y muy amable, nuestro camarero era Joseph y él estaba teniendo una risa amistosa con nosotros e incluyendo a mi hijo que inmediatamente hizo un gran ambiente, tuvimos una buena cantidad de tiempo entre pedir bebidas y comida y no nos sentimos apresurados y cuando la comida salió, todo estaba bien presentado y tenía un sabor delicioso, las salsas caseras son muy deliciosas. A mi esposo le gustaron las alitas de pollo y a mi hijo le encantó el batido Oreo que recibió. Definitivamente vamos a volver ya que queremos probar algunas otras hamburguesas en el menú, y tal vez un cóctel jajaja. Muchas gracias 😊

Absolutely splendid service from a kind young gentleman called Joe. From as soon as we walked in until we walked out he was exceptional. He helped us with all our needs and looked as happy as can be to help us. Just a star. I can’t speak highly enough of this man. I hope the next time I come here he’ll be working again because it truly made my evening. Food was banging too. Goodnight x

Me and my husband visited for a meal after hearing about it from family, the food was beautiful cooked and presented, the atmosphere was so lively, definitely going to be visiting again. Our server Joseph made us feel so comfortable and explained the menu so well, overall a lovely experience and will definitely be back

Barely any gluten free options, unfriendly unhelpful staff, very expensive and quite a steep service charge added to an already overpriced bill. Wouldn’t go again.

I came here on a Saturday night and got excellent service. I last visited GBK in 2019 and I feel that both the food and service have improved massively. I had a beyond meat burger which was the best vegetarian burger I have ever had! I will be returning very soon. A big shout out to the waitress Holly who was very accommodating and friendly, she has a lovely smile too☺️

when we entered the establishments it was clean and I was excited to try gormet burger kitchen again as the one local to me shut i now know why it shut, I am a small woman but did not expect to be treated like a child i ordered a toastie that came with skinny fries for 9 pounds. And the false advertisement shocked me to my core my heart broke as my stomach rumbled after consuming the few morsels of food on my plate. DO BETTER YOUR CUSTOMERS DONT WANT MINUSCULE FOOD!

Visited (twice) on Sunday. First to grab a quick snack before meeting friends, and then a couple of hours later with my friends and we were all hungry. The staff were all super friendly, and although our last visit was 9pm on a Sunday, they were very welcoming and accommodating. The food we all ordered was great and didn’t take long at all. You can also order via the QR code on the table (this is very convenient if you’re in a group and all paying separately), or you can wait until a team member comes over. Inside the restaurant it is bright and spacious, but there is also outside seating available if you want to experience the Brighton buzz up close. Highly recommend and will definitely visit again.

Wow super tasty 😋 Situated in the lanes of Brighton this tasty burger restaurant is one to try. Friendly staff and value for money for a tasty burger 🍔 The only thing that was a little disappointing was that you had to buy chips separately. You can also have the option to sign up to GBK and receive vouchers. If you like burgers give them a go.

we ordered the kids chicken burger, but the chicken was awful it was burnt and tasted very bitter. overall the portion of the food is quite small doesn’t look like the advertised product that had originally brought us here.

Great halal chix panko burger esp the onion rings on the side. Good coffee too. Toilets need better maintenance and better lightings.

Sadly going down hill since new corporate owner. The menu has changed and reduced even further, don’t even have sweet potato’s fries now on the menu. Menu on the app differs from the menu card given, they don’t let u claim rewards unless u use the app. Everything is set up to be a barrier. Sadly yesterday the restaurant was practically empty during a lunch time service on an extremely busy day outside. Customers seen getting up and walking out due to the menu and lack of service from staff. When the food do arrive, it’s clear they have modified it to reduce costs. I usually have the chicken burger no bun which used to come with a lovely salad but now At over £10 now all I got was the chicken breast, scoop of coleslaw, two tomatoes slices and two leaves of lettuce and a fluorescent mustard dressing in a dish. It looked sad! No longer worth the cost charged. We used to love going monthly but this was probably the last time now. Although it feels like a company about to go under sadly.

Absolutely love the vibe of this restaurant Korean BBQ off the scale flavours, have revamped menu obvious increase in charges great food and service every time, only issue not happy paying service charge 12 and a half per cent won't happen again don't want to subsidise wage bill but will definitely return again

Delivery was received almost by accident as the tracking system did not work and the delivery driver was not calling my telephone number. However, the food was excellent.

A fairly ordinary chicken burger. Nothing gourmet about it. Interesting relishes and sauce but not particularly memorable.

The food here is absolutely excellent which is why I keep ordering but they keep on consistently messing up my orders. I'm not sure if the menu online is wrong or something idk. Kept getting Chicken Satay burgers when ordering classic chicken burgers, so maybe what is advertised as the CCB is actually the CSB and in order to get one you have to order the other, either way consistently annoying but the food is good

Got a takeaway....vegan burger was probably the worst ive ever had, very dry. And chunky chips were horrible, didnt taste fresh at all. Onion rings were nice but arrived with most of ths batter off :(

We went to Brighton yesterday for a look around the lanes and really needed lunch. Was a bit dubious about going for a burger but boy was I wrong. We were very courteously seated and given the menus .. We decided to go for the sides and it was the best idea. The food was delivered quickly and hot and all was delicious. The chicken wings onion rings chicken tenders sweet potato fries halloumi and salads were all amazing. The baconaise was the best I've ever tasted. Aparently the hot chocolate was amazing I didn't have it but my daughter and father in law did. The atmosphere was lovely and the toilets clean. We will definitely be coming back Thanks for a lovely experience x

This was a strong recommendation, but after getting our order, I was severely disappointed. The burgers came overcooked and charred, and the taste of burnt burger completely ruined the whole thing. It's like their grills aren't regularly scraped clean....ever. For a place that has local notariety, its quality is adjacent to overpriced tourist food. It's crossed off my list of burger options, and I hope it improves. If you can help it, try somewhere better!

Expensive for what you are getting very little

Used to love GBK but this will be our last visit. Burgers have gotten smaller (whilst prices have gone up) and look rather underwhelming when delivered to your table. Ordered it medium but it was well done. Cheese was almost invisible. Slaw portion is smaller and uninspired. You would hope the once legendary onion rings could save the day but they didn’t have any. No explanation or apology, just a “we don’t have any”. Service was poor and we had a long wait for our food. Also overcharged for an extra drink. We thought it was fair to ask for service to be taken off the bill and no questions were asked. Obviously they weren’t too bothered about rectifying any issues in the future. We will be spending our hard earned cash elsewhere in future.

Burgers are usually pretty good, lots of variations and "guest" burger get rotated in the menu, always worth checking what's currently on. They used to have the most delicious salt, called "Hei Hei" salt (this is honestly borderline addictive on fries or one of their massive onion rings) - but they've recently stopped having it for some reason. Bring the Hei Hei salt back, GBK!! 🙏

I used to use this location alot and enjoyed it frequently. Went in today sat down and waitress had disappeared. Seems there was personal issues in kitchen. They came back after sometime very unfriendly. Didn't seem to care about the order. Food arrived same poor attitude. The fries and onion rings were cold. I will not be returning to this location. All a mess.

i don't usually leave reviews, let alone bad ones- if i get a bad meal i chalk it up to a lesson learned and don't order from there again. but i truly do not want anyone to waste their money like i just did- never in my life has a meal been so wildly offensive to all of my senses ! barely a handful of undercooked chips for £4 and a £14 burger with a single leaf of lettuce, a thin slice of hard tomato, two rings of red onion and a slight smear of mayo as the garnish- my partner commented 'i wouldn't even make this for myself, let alone charge for it'. an absolutely colossal waste of money, i'd rather have gone hungry than looked at the embarrassment tbh

Visited with a friend yesterday. Had the blue cheeseburger with melted stilton which was very nice, though wasn't keen on the coleslaw (but not my idea). Ladies (Aimee and another lady whose name we didn't get) both very helpful and menu flexible as well when I asked for one or two variants...

A very bad experience at gbk Brighton. Burgers came literally burned and the cheese not melted. Burgers had such a strong burned taste, that were not enjoyable. When we told the staff, the answer was "this is how we cook our burgers". Not coming back here!

You can’t burn a burger when you’re charging that price. Chips unseasoned. Baconnaise cheered me on from the side line as always but this isn’t good enough

The burger tasted burnt. We had to order separately for our friend with allergies and there was not fries gluten free. Nevertheless the service was really friendly and helpful, Charlie did a great job.

Really impressed with the service at this branch. I came here yesterday with a friend who suffers from several major food intolerances, and our server--who I think may have been a manager--was incredibly considerate, making sure to check every item we requested and made necessary alterations so that my friend could safely enjoy his meal. The actual quality of the food was fantastic as well; my burger was especially delicious. One of the best branches of GBK around.

Haven’t been for a while but was pleasantly surprised. Burger and chips for £7 & an order of onion rings (£3 and delicious). Lost a star as there was a happy hour for drinks but you couldn’t use this with the £7 burger deal.

Ordered premium delivery via deliveroo. Relishes and onions in the burgers despite specifying no additions. Everything arrived stone cold despite only supposed to be coming 1 mile down the road. And over an hour late with no apology. Avoid ordering delivery at the least, this is overpriced rubbish.

I had a bad (and expensive) experience in 2020, but we thought we'd give GBK another try. I very much wish I hadn't! The burger was tasteless. The bluecheese coleslaw had zero bluecheeseness, and was far too salty to eat. The halloumi was cold and rubbery. Salad was, well, see the photo. There was zero atmosphere. Too bright. Good parts: seating was new and funky. Chips were nice.

Ordered at 13:45 - 30-45 mins expected delivery time. Took 2 hours 45 mins. No way to contact just eat is abysmal service.

I used to come just for the avo bacon burger (now gone) and amazing homeslaw (now changed to a basic recipe I can get at Tescos). Bring them back!

The burger and fries were really good but the bacon in the burger could have been cooked with an iPhone flashlight. After removing the bacon the burger was great and perfectly cooked.

Great chicken burger, we’ve ordered grilled one and was delicious, full of flavour; there are vegetarian options too! you will need to order fries separately, and there is sweet potato ones, they are my favourite. Great service and very central in the heart of North lanes!

A lovely staff member served my family and I and was thrilled when my dad ordered the blue cheese burger (didn't catch his name but he said he has it everyday). His enthusiasm convinced me to try it too and it was awesome. The staff member was welcoming, bubbly and very polite through the whole meal and I can confidently say it made our day in brighton much better. Highly recommend for the food, fantastic service and overall wonderful experience.

Por Dios me traen una hamburguesa quemada.. que las rayas de la parrilla queden en la carne de la hamburguesa en color negro, es quemado, el sabor de la hamburguesa es a quemado! Me da bronca porque no pude disfrutar la comida.. no entiendo que tan dificil es hacer una Hamburguesa.. si Alguien sabe o me recomiende alguna restaurante en Brighton que no quemen las hamburguesas.. Gracias.. Nunca mas Volveré a comer en este lugar.. una verguenza..

We visited GBK with 7 children for a 10th birthday meal last weekend. The food was delicious (particularly the vegetarian options!) and kids meals very reasonably priced. Special thanks to Henry and Kai for the excellent service and for making us feel so welcome! We'll definitely be back soon!

This has been my absolute favourite GBK since 2012-13! I recently visited Brighton and had some food there and I was so delighted with the vegan options and customer service. Honestly no complaints other than we need the skinny fries back on the menu please 🥹

The burgers are basic at best and there are many better establishments nearby. Burger brothers is a stone throw away and far superior. The only advantage gbk has plenty of seating. Recommend if you're a family

Fast delivery, great food, arrived warm and in one part which doesn't always happen with burgers. And the restaurant remember to add avocado like I asked. Everything tasted fresh and I enjoyed it

Yet another nice GBK restaurant that is rarer to find nowadays. They have closed many branches in the past few years. I enjoyed my well cooked burger very much, juicy and not overdone like in many other chains.

Can order your burger medium or well done! Amazing burgers , Onion rings and shakes. Highly recommended

Absolutely love this store it is our go to restaurant in Brighton on day trip so warm and welcoming all staff polite and respectful friendly service especially as my wife is wheelchair bound lady disabled toilet not working sadly but food and drink amazing quality Amy was so upbeat and positive lady just what we needed on our forty years anniversary from first date in Hyde park London 26 6 23 wow lovely memories again ,I managed to navigate gbk app free burger and milkshake lottery win will definitely return soon
