Gotto Trattoria in Hackney

Went with a large group for a celebration. The staff were friendly and helpful. Food delicious and reasonably priced. Slight mix up with booking details (not anything important) but was resolved politely and efficiently.

Visited on a warm evening and sat outside. Friendly and attentive staff, great atmosphere and the food was delicious. Will definitely return.

Visited for a family lunch. The restaurant is small but looks out over the canal. The menu is small with specials added daily. The pasta dishes were delicious and pizzas went down well too. The portions are large. Desserts were tasty - loved my affogato. Wine list was small and quite expensive. Service was great. Will be returning!

The manager Andrea has been very kind and accommodating. We had a delicious pasta alla Norma and calamari has appetisers. We were so impressed that we also visited few nights before and we tried the pizza. Gluten free options are also available. Highly recommended.

We recently opted for a lunch at Gotto Trattoria, a decision fuelled by expectations of an authentic Italian dining experience. The initiation of our visit was less than seamless; upon my arrival, despite the presence of numerous vacant tables, I was informed that our reservation could not be located. This slight hiccup was momentarily resolved when my wife emerged from the facilities with our children, allowing us to settle at the table for our reservation my wife had already found. The culinary journey that ensued was, regrettably, a mixed affair. The calamari failed to impress, lacking the finesse one might anticipate from such an establishment. On a more positive note, the pasta—undeniably homemade—was a delightful testament to traditional craftsmanship. However, this achievement was overshadowed by a ragu sauce so overwhelmingly infused with garlic that it masked any other potential flavours. My son’s pizza was deemed merely average, a sentiment that did little to align with our expectations of an Italian-owned venue’s capability. Service throughout our visit was, bluntly put, below par. The manager’s preoccupation with his computer at the front door appeared to take precedence over guest service, contributing to a palpable neglect. Additionally, the disappearing act performed by the other waiter only served to exacerbate our growing dissatisfaction. Culminating our experience was the decision to order decaffeinated coffees, a choice we lamented posthaste. The quality was so profoundly unsatisfactory that it left us questioning the authenticity of the beverage. In summation, Gotto Trattoria fell markedly short of the expectations one might hold for an establishment boasting Italian ownership and culinary heritage. With an abundance of dining options available, it is with regret that we must conclude our experience at Gotto Trattoria as one better forgotten. The pursuit of authentic Italian cuisine, coupled with service that cherishes its patrons, is a quest that will continue elsewhere.

I went to Gotto Trattoria with my friends for a dinner. The atmosphere was amazing, everyone extremely friendly and it really felt like being in an Italian Trattoria. The food was delicious (word of Italian!) and price is very reasonable for the great quality. Samuel, our waiter, treated us divinely: only because we had to wait a bit more than the standard timing, we had a bottle of wine on the house - so much appreciated. At the end of the dinner, chef Maurizio put some Italian songs and we all danced together. Well done, we will definitely go back! Thanks Samuel for the amazing service, you are a star!

Friendly staff and excellent Italian food (proper Italian food!) The Chef (Maurizio) is excellent and has a clear passion for Italian / Sicilian specialities. The menu is short, but complete. The maccheroncini with mushrooms and truffle oil are a delight. If you are lucky enough you may also get some special Sicilian arancini on the menu. The area is also very nice, walking path, pleasant and great in sunny days. I'll definitely come back!

This was a decidedly average restaurant. The food was bland and average. The ragu lacked depth and flavour. The garlic bread was burnt in places and had a bitter after taste. The service lacked a smile. She seriously didn't smile once and sulked when we asked to have the service charge of 12.5% removed....... Good points. The pizza was tasty. The mushroom pasta was pleasant.

Went with my wife on a sunny Sunday afternoon. Decided to order selection of starters as we were not extremely hungry, and we were not disappointed. The Octopus salad is a must and the meatballs with fennel were packed with flavour. Did not try the pizza but looking at the table nearby it seemed very good. If you add great setting and attentive service, this place comes highly recommended

We came in for dinner for 2, had the zucchini and arancini to start, both really tasty, followed by 2 pizzas. Pizzas were really great, will definitely come back! Great homely atmosphere and service was great as well!

I came here with my partner for our anniversary on a very quiet Monday night – there were only 2 other tables. We were greeted by the very friendly host and the impeccable service continued throughout. We shared the arancini and bruschetta for a starter, both were absolutely delicious but the arancini especially was to die for! I had the maccheroncini pasta which included truffle oil and Italian sausage and I s*** you not it was the best pasta dish I've ever had. Blew my mind. For dessert we shared the homemade tiramisu which almost made me cry it was so good. Along with a bottle of wine the bill came to just over £80 for both of us which for the quality of the food was an absolute bargain. I cannot recommend this place highly enough, it's a must visit if you're anywhere near the area.

Cannot fault the service. Martina was so friendly and knowledgeable about the menu and made us feel so welcome and at home. The Bologna pizza was to die for as was the mushroom and truffle pasta. And the negroni! It was the best my partner has had. We were so well looked after and have found our new fave Italian. Can’t wait to come back.

The place may not be the closest to London town center but it's definitely worth a shot! I have been living in UK since 2015 and so far i can state this is the best Italian restaurant where i ate in this country (I'm from Italy). It's the true representation of what fresh food means, not like the crap that they come up in pseudo FAKE Italian restaurant chains, pseudo Italian restaurants or the ones that they adapt their menu to the local cuisine. Me, my partner and my parents were served by two skilled and lovely waitresses (Martina & Nazzarena) that made us feel very comfortable and welcomed. I don't usually say this, but everything we tried was amazing. Therefore, i highly recommend it to anyone would like to have a great meal with real Italian Food!

We stumbled across this place after an activity at the velopark. The menu was full of delicious sounding dishes so it was difficult to choose but we all had pizzas. The Bologna pizza had a whole burrata on top with mortadella and pistachios….. the most delicious and indulgent pizza I’ve ever had! Our two year old loves his margarita pizza and the chocolate ice cream at the end was amazing. Great value kids two courses and a drink for £7. We will be coming back next time we are in the area.

We came here to have dinner with friends and it was a fantastic experience. The service was brilliant, our waitress was knowledgable about the whole menu and our special requests. We had the calamari to start with which was not too oily. Our pizza and pasta mains were all full of flavour and you could tell they make the pasta fresh and use premium ingredients. We were pleasantly surprised at the price when we received the bill.
