Great service, amazing food. My 6yo girls demolished 3 rolls each. I highly recommend visiting Go-to, but remember too book as they are quite busy.

Service was good, reservation recommended. I had Tonkotsu Ramen - broth was thick and gelatinous, didn't get miso flavours - one thin piece of pork and some lettuce was a bit disappointing. Didn't try sushi, maybe that's good?

This place is amazing, the food and drinks were great (especially the wine) and the staff were so kind, friendly and attentive. I'm so glad places like this still exist in Exeter

Service was amazing we had our order taken quickly and the starters soon followed. I tried both the Katsu Curry Rice and the Tonkotsu ramen both were amazing and very filling! The tasty warm curry with the rice felt like being hugged by my mother after a rainy day 😅 The house sake was nice and I also had chicken karaage for starter which was also really nice. Overall a great experience and I’ll definitely come back to Goto next time I’m in Exeter

The ratings are overrated. I can say I wouldnt come back here because of the ramen. Ordered tonkotsu, tasted more of shoyu and theres a lettuce in it? Noodles is basic. I wouldnt even try this place if it werent for the review. Chicken karaage not crispy. Very few for the price. If you have tried a good japanese restaurant you would understand. Tiny sushi. The pious one I think is much better for sushi. Such a shame. I had high hopes. My two cents. No parking. Service is on the spot.

Absolutely amazing! The best food I've had in Exeter for over a decade. Something for everyone in our quite fussy party and so much choice for myself who has complex dietary restrictions. Can't wait to come back to try some more from their wonderful menu. I must also point out that the service was sublime so that everything gelled and came together for the most perfect evening meal out.

It’s been our 3rd or 4th time at Goto, my partner and I first discover this lovely gem via Google maps and saw they had pretty good review. The food is really good, good quality fish n sushi’s and also a relatively big menu too! For the price I’d say it’s pretty good and the staff there are always really nice 😊

Had the tonkotsu ramen. For anyone who’s ever actually tasted real ramen, this was clearly not it. It’s basically miso soup, and shockingly was served with lettuce, LETTUCE! The chasu pork belly wasn’t seared and the whole bowl was under-flavored.

The best Japanese food in Exeter? Quite likely. The chicken thigh starter was fantastic and salmon sushi very generous.

We were a party of two, an early walk in at 1730. Loads of tables were reserved but they managed to squeeze us in on a table reserved for 1900, with the proviso we left them time to turn the table around. The decor is hand painted on the walls and quite beautiful. The atmosphere and service were spot on. The food was tasty, green tea and Sake (first time I’ve had it) were good. The only, very minor gripe was that the plant based dishes were few and far between. We will return.

Having been lucky enough to have visited Japan and experienced their cuisine I must say that eating at Goto took me back there. The Goto platter was excellent and the sashimi platter was outstanding. Flavours were great and presentation was to a high standard. Service is very professional and you feel that you are welcome. The quality of the food is obvious and given all I have said value for money. Well worth a visit. Booking in advance advised as very popular and deservedly so.

Really lovely lunch spot. It wasn’t too crowded when we went so was very peaceful. The staff were polite and attentive. We had some great ramen, flavourful broth and a good amount of toppings. The only thing I would say is that my egg was very cold!

Went whilst visiting Exeter. Superb. Unassuming little venue, with cool decor and cute staff. The sashimi was divine, as was the sushi. The wasabi blew my mind (and my head off). Ramen was yummy as well and the Sake was served in a really gorgeous pot flask thingy. For two people (and we ordered too much food) the price was £66. Unbelievable value in these inflationary times. I only wish we lived nearer.

Really nice freshly cooked food. Everything was delicious. I particularly enjoyed the pumpkin croquettes. It was very easy to reserve a table via Facebook Messenger.

I'm sad to see a lonely fish in a small fish tank, I was distracted by it all the time I was sitting in the restaurant. Can the fish be set free or be sent to somewhere it can live in a larger space?

Delicious ramen & delicate tempura. Portions slightly on the small side but the noodles were still reasonably priced. Would like to go back for sushi some time!

Honestly best ramen in exeter you can tell the chefs put the effort in the broths they are supposed to to make it taste as good as it is even for delivery. The katsu udon was the perfect taste as well, definitely recommend ordering here I'll be definitely trying it in store perfect portion sizes too, very fulling. Massive thumbs up.

Excellent food, the starters and sushi were delicious. Only disappointment were the mains, tonkotsu ramen quality of noodles was poor and the broth lacked the flavour I would expect. The teriyaki was ok, needed a bit more sauce.

I often go here for lunch, in fact this is THE place I go for lunch when in Exeter. It's cosy, authentic, and the staff are all welcoming and friendly. The dashi and stocks are full of flavour and everything is always fresh-tasting. I always love the Tonkotsu ramen with vegetarian toppings 😋 Lovely place to eat, also great for takeaway.

Freshest Sashimi Try the Prawn and Mango Rolls Hospitality!

It’d be better to make a reservation as they are usually quite full. I was lucky to get a seat without making reservation but the dining time was limited as they need to prepare for the customers with reservations. The broth and ramen taste so good and really love it! The tempura is great as the coating is light, would like to try their sushi next time!

First visit but hopefully not the last. Only takeaway this time but a wonderful taster for a repeat visit and dining in so able to enjoy more of the menu. Due to taking away the food we only ordered sushi. The menu presented a fantastic selection of different seafood in sashimi, nigiri and sushi roll form (no maki). The line caught mackerel and the turbot were lovely. Some of the best sushi I've eaten in a long while. Can't wait to try the ramen and appetisers. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Arigato gozaimasu.

what can i say… incredible! best sushi we’ve ever had, got about 6 dishes that added up to around £45.. tipped £5 so 50 all in. the service was INCREDIBLE! one of the nicest servers EVER! nothing was too much! you know it’s good when it’s full of Japanese natives! always wanted to try soft shell crab. and it was lovely! one dish wasn’t to our taste.. but the presentation was second to none and in no way being negative because it wasn’t to our PERSONAL taste. i’m sure it’s as good as all the other dishes. will 100% return and my partner won’t stop going on about it! only reason atmosphere is 4 star.. is we were the only english people in there, and didn’t really have anyone to talk too apart from the once again.. AMAZING waitress! price wise, we have nothing to compare it too.. but we’re more than happy with the bill. can’t wait to go back and try more fantastic dishes!

We had a lovely meal at Goto tonight. Miso aubergine starter, mackerel sashimi and spicy California rolls were the highlights but everything was delicious and service friendly and attentive. Best sushi we've had in the UK by far. I would definitely recommend a visit.

Before I start And be called over critical. I've eaten Asian crusine. As I am Asian . I've eaten up and down the country and in the countries of origin. And give honest reviews for others to see. Lunch time. 2nd table in for lunch. Prawn tempura with seasonal veg tempura 4/ 10 Tempura is an food item that is lightly battered. With a crunch. Tbh it was quite Bland, the courgettes were the only thing that had any real flavour. This could be down to it's seasonal. / Not ripe enough. The butternut squash was Slightly undercooked, I believe Onto the prawns. They are a nice size. Especially for England's standards. They've be "king prawns" Prawns were very fresh and cooked fully Mainly good crisp on prawns but multiple areas where batter is soft All the tempura was soft. Not the crisp I'd expect from tempura at all. Karaage 6/10 Karaage chicken is marinated chicken thighs mainly using soy and ginger. The karaage today has a Nice flavor.very succulent , perfectly cooked meat wise, However the Batter is again soft. Not crispy at all. I believe the batter issues is due to oil temperature Tonkotsu Tonkotsu one of the most iconic ramen. The signature drinking meal, mealy known for its full meaty/ umami flavour and the fat in the broth. 9/10 Best authentic broth hands down in the country. Full fat as it should be. However it is let down by cold charsui, the Egg perfectly made . Soft boiled, and then cooled in the fridge and stained by soy. Service 10 / 10 . Every time they brought me food they would make sure my tea cup was filled . Food is kinda a let down. As I've heard so much hype for this place. 7/10 is my overal review Price: 31.30 Kinda overpriced for the quality of the cooking

The foods was good but the portions are relatively small.

Buzzing atmosphere, incredible food, but everything served all at once, so sushi we wanted to take our time over, savour and enjoy ariived at the same time as Warm terrakyi chicken and katsu curry. So we rushed to eat sushi then katsu curry cold by the time we ate.

The food here was so delicious. From the sushi to the katsu, the food was faultless. Service was quick and efficient too I would highly recommend.

New favourite unlocked! Been waiting for really authentic Asian food in Exeter for so long (lived in Aus). Everything was delicious, we had salmon mango sushi, katsu udon ramen and beef katsu - enjoyed it so much, friendly service and nice atmosphere. 100% will be back. The only thing that was a little odd was lettuce in the ramen rather than seaweed or kelp... you need the crunch/texture but unsure on the lettuce. Still delicious though.

Goto is almost a hidden jem.. right at the bottom of town, but soo worth the wander down... one of the best Sushi restaurants I have been to.. super fresh prepared to order.. and oh the Miso soup WoW 👌 👏 😍 😋😋😋

Delicious, authentic Japanese food

At the lower end of Fore St this restaurant offers a unique service. The sushi comes in large platters for sharing or you can just have a small individual portion to yourself. U also get wasabi and ginger pickle. The noodles and katsu curry were highly rated by all. The price is just right and the service excellent. The seating and table arrangements are comfortable. The internal decor includes hand painted murals which must be seen. An excellent experience had by all.

As a Sushi fan, my husband and I had a go at this place as it has good reviews. The service was very good and felt welcomed even though we did not have a reservation. In terms of authenticity and quality of sushi, there is a room for improvement. Seafood Ramen lacked texture and clearly they used dry instant noodles, I was so surprised to find Lettuce as vegetables in Ramen. It was disappointing. Sushi platter we ordered came with cucumber Sushi which we didnot expect. The rice was too hard and didnot taste like fresh rice or rice was not a Sushi grade rice. We were glad we tried it but we don't think we will go again.

This unassuming restaurant in the heart of Exeter serves the most amazing sushi! We've been here a number of times when visiting. The chicken karrage is some of the best chicken I've ever had. The tuna nigiri (when available) is out of this world - the chef shared some of his personal tuna which was so generous of him. The seared salmon, avocado nigiri, grilled aubergine, and the tiger prawn with mango roll are all unbelievably good dishes to try. The staff are friendly too and the sushi really rivals any you'll find in London. 100% worth a visit.

Food was lovely, although it took around 30 minutes too come to the table. The service was lovely but we were sat down in a small tall table which it wasn't that comfortable. The atmosphere was really nice with nice Japanese background music.

Unassuming on the exterior - you would probably just walk past if you didn't know better ........ don't let this put you off, the food is well worth going inside for. We, a table of three were booked for 6.30pm. By 7pm it was full - it's a small restaurant, so booking would definitely be advised. A wide ranging menu, although primarily sushi, sashimi or ramen is on offer. Portion-size was decent, quickly served, and of a good standard. Both Asahi and Kirin beers on offer (although only in 330ml format), and a selection of sake or plum wines for an authentic Japanese feel (non-Japanese alcoholic beverages also available). One starter, three main courses, three beers and two plum wines came to a little under £65, which isn't unreasonable. The location on New Bridge Street places you about a five minute walk from the city centre. If you fancy food cooked by a Japanese chef, or an alternative to Wagamama or Yo Sushi, then GoTo should tick all your boxes. They also offer take out.
