Golden Wok Chinese Takeaway in Rhondda Cynon Taf

Food was awful, ordered a curry on its own it ended up coming with chips and rice. Chicken balls tasted like ones you’d get from Iceland, chips was dry, bbq sauce didn’t taste like authentic Chinese bbq sauce, wondered how it came so quickly probably because the lot was microwaved. Worst Chinese’s we’ve had in years. £25 wasted, kids are disappointed and wont touch it, it was their monthly treat and it all went in the bin

Salt and pepper squid was tasty but rubbery which means frozen squid, and the Sichuan beef was extremely disappointing, it was just sweet, not spicy at all. Fried rice was standard. I've had better meals from this place before so maybe today is just an off day.

Oily noodles, fatty meats in each dish and order had forgotten Sauces which were paid for. Delivery time was full 45 mins but did arrive hot. Sweet and sour sauce flavourless

Ordered food from 3 miles away, arrived within 25 mins, absolutely nothing fresh. Chips were old enough to go to school, brown, hollow on the inside. Must've been cooked about 6 times. Not a single thing was even remotely fresh. If they can't be bothered to make fresh chips, I'd be seriously concerned with the rest. £50 order so not cheap. Shame because had food here before and it was decent, probably made the mistake to order when they've just opened so they've chucked together the last of the weeks food. Rang to just politely voice my concern, greeted with nothing but abuse from the woman behind the counter and chef. Haha 😂

Worst Chinese ever!! Chips were about a month old. Won’t be ordering again!

Food was not good. I ordered a chicken chop suey but was nothing like I've ever had before from anywhere. It was chicken, onion, a few beansprouts and carrots (still hard, I'd say raw). Also it came in something resembling a sweet and sour sauce which i dislike. No mushrooms, water chestnuts, bamboo shoots etc Never again!

Absolutely disgusting food , first and last time we will ever order from here rang to complain was told changed supplier and that’s it no offer of refund , no chicken in the chicken balls dried hard and no taste.

Ordered food over an hour ago on just eat they've taken our money but still no food but they messaged that the driver left 35mins ago and the shop is 0.4miles away when we try and ring shop or go on website it's states it's closed a total rip off called down the shop to see what was happening and all locked up I know it's £19 but it's the principle of it deffo one for trading standards and because we have waited so long we can't order from anywhere else a total piss take and I will get my money back just be careful guys when ordering

Stunning vegetable curry and loved the chow mein. Had to wait a while for the delivery but was worth the wait. Will order again! X

2 years later: I ordered as they have changed ownership and now have a 4 star food hygiene rating. £14.35 fed 2 people with plenty left. The food was good, white lady behind counter seemed friendly. Food wasn't too oily. Seem to be following covid rules with a big screen. This visit seemed better. Ordered from here after seeing 4.3 Google rating. Upon collecting I saw 2 food hygiene stickers in the window. One had 3 stars and the other had 1 star. Looking from the inside the 1 star food hygiene was the latest rating. Unfortunately the food had already been ordered and paid for. The carrier bag had a knot tied on the handles so I did not look inside. When arriving home and opening the bags it was clear the chow meins were drenched in some brown oily liquid. The taste was awful and it didn't settle well in our stomachs. The prawn crackers had obviously been sitting in the shop for a while as they had discoloured. Won't be ordering from here again.

I found this restaurant when looking for a local takeaway during lockdown. I was first drawn by the high food hygiene rating and choice of menu. We have eaten from here several times now and we have found the food to be very tasty and delivered hot by friendly staff. We will definitely be keeping the golden wok as one of our favourite restaurants long after these testing times. Support your local business 😊

By far the best chinese we have had locally for a long time, possibly ever. Food was on time, hot, well priced and most of all very well executed and as it should be. Not a reason to complain as it is personal preference, they dont do vermicelli (rice) noodles. As far as I'm aware, it is also the only chinese in the area with a 5 star hygeine rating. You can't go wrong!
