Golden Valley in Caerphilly

Recently i visited the historical Morgan Jones Park in Caerphilly with my sister and nephews. This was our first visit and the children enjoyed playing on the swings, slide and climbing frame, before visiting the splash pad with water jets. At lunch we enjoyed a picnic and there was plenty of green space. After lunch the boys visited the skate park and we enjoyed a walk around the flower gardens and the boys used the outside gym. After our walk we purchased drinks from the Old Library Cafe. This was a fantastic park with tennis courts, football and cricket pitches, and a bowling green. The boys continued playing in the park until about 18:30, but before heading home the boys suggested picking up a takeaway tea (to share with my husband and brother in-law). Earlier in the day we met a local family who recommended the Chinese takeaway Golden Valley on Mill Road. We managed to find the takeaway and ordered sweet and sour chicken balls, egg fried rice, chips, vegetable spring rolls, prawn crackers, sticky lemon chicken, duck l,'orange and beef in black bean sauce. At the takeaway we received lovely customer service and the food was cooked fresh to order. The food was still really hot when we got home. All dishes tasted scrumptious and were made with lots of fresh vegetables. Sometime in the near future we will return to both the park (hidden gem close to all amenities including the shops and castle) and Golden Valley because the food tasted fantastic and was excellent value for money.

This place used to be great . With lovely food all tasty. BUT recently gone downhill fast. Curry like water noodles gone really thin like worms .even changed the chips . Anyway passing on the cheaper product to the customer will find them out in the end. I certainly won't be eating here again . cheaper product more expensive

Pre booked meal on just eat at one o clock to come for five minutes past six, had a text message at six o clock saying the meal had been cancelled, waited for five hours for nothing. First and last time never again.

We have used this take away for over 20 years. However, after the last abysmal experience we will be looking elsewhere. Ordered a take away. All veggie apart from Chicken curry. Person taking order repeated back the order. Confirmed it and it would be 20 mins. We went to collect 20 mins later. Only to be kept waiting for a further 20 mins plus. Half way through she asked how we wanted the sweet and sour to be cooked??? Also mentioned that Chicken curry was not vegan? A bit confused by that. Finally the food was ready took it home only to discover - NO CHICKEN CURRY. We rang and were told it was not on the order. It was pointed out that not only had we ordered it the person taking the order had repeated it back. No we were told it was not included????? If we wanted the Chicken curry we would have to go back and collect it or they would deliver and charge not only for the curry but also delivery. No apology for them messing up the order. No apology for overcharging us for the food which DID NOT include the Chicken Curry. We said no we wanted the Curry and we expected them to deliver it free of charge. They had messed up the order. They had charged for food that was not included and why should we have to wait another 30-40 mins for the food. We then had a knock at the door approx 20 mins later. The Chicken Curry had arrived and they wanted £5.25 for the curry and delivery. The delivery lady was firmly told NO. We paid for the order, they messed it up and they had charged and we were not paying again. We received £29.90 worth of food - according to their menu but were charged £32.45 and they wanted a further £5.25 on top. WILL NOT BE USING THEM AGAIN. THEY WERE SLOW, THE FOOD WAS NOT WHAT WAS ORDERED AND THEY OVERCHARGED. Even worse they would not see that it was their error and they refused to put it right. Anyone can make a mistake but to refuse to acknowledge your mistake and put it right is wrong.

Crispy beef tasted nice, but was cold when I began eating it. The chips are better than some Indian takeaways but could be improved. Some crunchy, some soggy. Wait time was average as I ordered and collected there itself.

I always order house special curry and occasionally house special chowmein - which is a variety of meats and prawns in curry sauce or same with noodles. On this occasion I ordered both. It was tasty but unlike other chinese takeaways in the area, there wasn't a lot of meat and the chunks were quite small. Not the end of the world as it was tasty but would probably not order from here again. Also I live in Machen and they won't deliver there - which is a shame, because we'd be willing to pay a fee. Dragon City down the road delivers to Machen for a fee and i love their house special curry.

great food & cooked to order & the fish was so fresh, staff were very pleasent, will definatly use this place again when we next visit..

Had takeaways from here as it's close when we're babysitting for the grandchildren, food is OK, and, the portions are good

Super scrummy take away! Ordered chicken breast and it came with peas in a gorgeous gravy sauce and it was lush! we also had salt and pepper chicken that was plentiful with lots of fresh veg. King prawn and black bean sauce too was delicious!

Always hot and fresh food, although sometimes you have to wait too long and others seem to receive preferential treatment. Standard has steadily improved over 20 years with new dishes added. Very good and polite service.

Just popped in to try an alternative to our usual place (Angel House). It didn't come close. It was more expensive, smaller portions and not as tasty. The Hot and Sour soup was very watery. The main dishes were just average. Unlikely to be popping in again!

In my opinion the best chinese takeaway in Caerphilly. Dont think we have ever had a bad meal from here.

Our regular takeaway Chinese takeaway (Great Wall) was closed as were many others in the town so we found this one online and ordered a delivery from there. The man who took the order was very friendly and professional and delivery was on time but...... The food was disgusting. The curry sauce was a strange colour and tasted bad. I had crispy beef and it had a nasty taste to it. We all said we would never order from there again and we threw most of it away. We are not majorly fussy eaters but this place is easily one of the worst in Caerphilly.

Had a takeaway from this Chinese . Delivery was very prompt and food boiling. On the food I had chicken foo young chips and curry all very nice my husband had special fried rice chips and curry which was all eaten too . All in all nice food .

We've lived in Caerphilly for some time and have tried most Chinese takeaways, this is always our trusted faithful chinese takeaway never fails in quality, consistency and good price. Generous portions and really tasty, their roast port fried rice is to die for and the chicken in satay sauce is super yummy too. Highly recommend this place.

Comi um steak muito gostoso, macio e crocante ao mesmo tempo. Achei a porção boa, se comparada com outros restaurantes. Recomendo!

Had a lovely meal from here again really enjoyed crispy beef with satay sauce . Very nice with portion of chips and poppadam . All very nice

Chicken curry wonderful ................ also really like Deep Fried chicken with special sauce (which happens to be Peking sauce )

Had a lovely family take away from here several times .sweet n sour chicken is amazing n lots of duck dishes are very nice also enjoyed the curry very nice
