Overall food was good but the curry sauce, which was usually hot and thick was really watery and flavourless, not their usual standard. Cutting costs maybe?

Food is amazing and always hot on delivery, staff are super friendly and polite, we've be customers for 3 yrs and have never had a bad delivery, also recently we've had a bereavement and the staff have been so sweet and supportive, honestly made this few wks bearable, thank you all at golden dragon

Best Chinese ever for food tasted lovely

Have tried every Chinese that deliver to Risca and Golden dragon is by far the best, tasty, plentiful always warm always a friendly driver and on the phone. The hot and sour soup is incredible if you haven’t tried it you must! Cures a bad tummy cures a stuffy nose, I’m sure the amount I have eaten in the past 3 years has prevented Covid ❤️❤️We love you golden dragon

The delivery drivers attitude was discusting, blond medium long hair with glasses, i gave her a tip as she tip toed out of my garden she said was “dirty” bearing in mind i have had a leak from the guttering, unable to get up on a ladder being a single person, only just got all the sh** out 2days ago and not had the time to clean up yet. no need for my excuses, there was no need for her attitude or sh**y comments

I like my takeaway food and have to say being from Newport originally I probably tried every Chinese and Indian takeaway there was in Newport, I've used this Chinese takeaway many times and I've never been let down, the food is always fresh, hot and very tasty and best of all it's up the end of my road, if it wasn't good I would go elsewhere as there are quite a few within driving distance that also deliver. I would definitely recommend this takeaway.

Food did not arrive after 3 hour wait. Called to ask said it had left the kitchen. Called again to be informed they had delivered to me! I informed them nobody had visited! No refund via card I would have to go into the restaurant! Fuming two hungry children upset and up late. 25 % off next order ha... We definitely will not be ordering again. Money dropped off so they managed to find the address they have delivered to for the past 6 years. Very disappointed. Poor service and NOT GOOD.

Salt and chilli spare ribs were great but the main courses were quite poor. There was too much ginger and practically raw onion (not spring onion) in the Beef with Spring Onion and Ginger. Likewise again there was too much almost raw onion with the Chicken with pepper and black bean sauce and the the pepper with the chicken dish was also uncooked. I know the chinese stir fry quickly and the vegetable should still be crunchy but the vegetables in the dishes we had only been shown the wok. We won't be going back

Terrible service ☹️ Ordered at 19:15 and was told it would be a hour. At 20:35 we rang them, " it's on the way " they said. At 21:00 we rang to cancel, " isn't it there yet ?". No, that's why we were ringing. Said they would send the driver around with our refund, in cash, even though we paid by card ? Will not use them again ☹️

There's 2 menus to choose from that are all you can eat. Abit confusing upon book because it's called a buffet but the food is ordered and brought to you. Prices range from 12.50 to 16.95 depending on which menu you choose. Restaurant is open 7 days a week, service is great and drinks are responsible.

Lovely little restaurant. We were a booking of 7. The all you can eat was absolute value for money for me. The food was cooked to perfection and the staff are extremely welcoming and helpful. I would recommend eating here.

Surprisingly this is in my opinion best Chinese in risca Always have take out but thought we would try all u can eat. Food perfect. Staff really good friendly. Only thing is maybe could do with facelift instore. To modernise.

Used to order from here all the time, Infact the only Chinese I would order from, just don’t know what’s happened, it’s gone so down hill, food is very bland, I LOVE my pancake rolls had them today, full of grease and bean sprouts there was no meat filling what so ever, don’t know if I’m ever gunna order from here again, my family has the opinion, a shame really when it was so lovely..

Went into the restaurant to order a takeaway and was disgusted to see the counter was covered in ants. After noticing this i asked for a refund as i would not be eating their food due to poor hygiene. At first the woman at the counter was reluctant to give me the money back until i pointed out where they were coming from and she finally gave me my money back. Very disappointed and will not be returning.

Great food but really slow with orders coming out at different times by the time the chips came out we had finished.. But always have food delivered from here and cant fault it 5star for delivery..

I ordered mixed meat noodles and they was very undercooked. Could snap them in half, the chicken was awful, nothing fresh about it. Phoned up to say about the noodles not being cooked and it wasn’t very nice to be told that the noodles was ment to be like that? 🤮 I have eaten this dish a few times and never had hard undercooked noodles? 😳 the cook who I spoke to needs to change her attitude towards paying customers, I will 100% never ever return to this Chinese! Foul

This is a take away and eat in venue. You get free rice with the takeaway curry which is a saving. The meals in the restaurant are inexpensive. The most annoying thing here is that the price you are charged for a takeaway very rarely matches the price on the menu. You always end up paying more.

We have been ordering from golden dragon once a fortnight for years now and always enjoyed it but tonight it was terrible Not sure what's happened here but the chicken was so chewy we had to spit it out and bin it! Please sort this out or you will lose our custom for good!!

What can I say about this place curry sauce was bland also I had a hair in my rice which was disgusting, if there was a minus I would surely give this place one.

Went here last year for a takeaway so nice decided to go in to the restaurant, so glad I did fantastic meal went for a buffet meal while the kids had chicken and chips a wonderful way to try out the different food unbelievably busy the night we were in only 1 member of staff to answer phone takeaway orders and serving food in the restaurant and the service was still excellent a wonderful place to go highly recommend it.

Delicious all you can eat (Sun-Thurs £10.99) no fuss restaurant and take away. I recommend the honey ribs, satay chicken, crispy seaweed...

I think the food is great here. We go there all the time the staff are really helpful and friendly. It is a must if you enjoy a variety of well cooked chinese food. Definitly try the starter menu. That is my favorite

Well I must say the service was terrible the girl behind the desk was trying to take orders, answer the phone ,serve the tables ,serve the drinks clean the tables all on her own the food was excellent but they need more staff the restaurant also needs to be updated looks very shabby .

Regular customers of both restaurant and take away. Buffet meal is great value for money with a huge menu selection. Food very well cooked and presented. Recommended.

So I did have some difficulties explaining what gluten free was, however we got there eventually and I had a chicken and mushroom dish. It was takeaway, arrived nice and hot and obviously cooked fresh. Very difficult to find a Chinese that offers a gf meal so I want to praise them fir trying but I did find this particular dish a little bland. Having said that, all my other party thoroughly enjoyed their meals

Absolutely lovely food staff couldn't do enough to help you would definitely recommend the buffet there was plenty of it and it's came out boiling hot and would highly recommend it 2 friends and family definitely worth travelling from Cardiff for my brithday with my wife and family will definitely be going back

After ordering from this chinese for years its fair to say we will never eat from this place again or waste our money we have notices a massive diffrence not sure if its a different chef but its the worst meal iv had the rice was so stodgy none of the meal had tase the x4 ribs we had were bone the chow meain was beyond dry the chiken balls were over fryed could of broke my tooth bighting into one, if i could give 0 stars on this i would dont waste your money.

I have eaten in the Golden Dragon on a few occasions, and also had takeaway. Great selection of Cantonese food, very fast and lovely and hot in temperature. I have tried both types of the eat in buffets. And they are both delisious. I really enjoyed the Cantonese chicken, chicken balls and pancake rolls, my daughter is vegatarian and they have a great so lectionary for her.

Had a chow mein last night, they don't use real noodles, the beef curry was powdery, in a nutshell - disgusting food! Couldn't agree more!

Have visited here many times and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves but our visit last night was not so good. The waitresses are usually very friendly, helpful and efficient but unfortunately the waitress we had last night (who we hadn't seen before) was quite the opposite. Our meals were literally plonked on the table with no finesse whatsoever ever. She didn't even know what the meals were, so we had to guess. She appeared uninterested in the customers and clearly would benefit from some training in people skills! Very off putting ☹️

Very hit and miss, last week I had an awesome meal here, this week raw chicken and when replaced came back raw again, won't be coming back.

If I could give 0 stars I would. Chicken was raw, spring rolls stone cold, owner came to our table and snapped spring roll over the table leaving a mess, then told me the chicken was normally pink. Then came got spring rolls and chicken that was more raw than the first. Manager only apologised (Not meaningfully) the 3rd time she came back to the table. Disgraceful, and to top things off, you can't have free tap water! Utter **** hole this place is!

Don't go here if you want steak. I visited this place on my birthday....when my meal of steak chips and gravy arrived I was given an ordinary table knife to cut my Rump steak. Also the gravy was spilling off the plate!!!! Never again.

Buffet menu is a good option at £10:99 each. Order as you go. The food is tasty and enough choice for everyone to find an option. A few to many rules for my liking. But hey. They also apparently 'don't serve tap water' with this...

A small family restaurant with a very hard working team. Although they work flat out they still find time to be calm and relaxed with customers. We never felt under pressure at anytime. Buffets are our preference and although they have a buffet menu every item is prepared in house and cooked to order so don't expect a fast food experience. Instead we enjoyed a very relaxed meal ordering items when the previous had been eaten. Simple straightforward menu but very tasty. The pancake roll was top rank as was the hot and sour soup and black peppered chicken. We will be regular customers from now oñ.

Hemos oído un montón de cosas buenas sobre este lugar y no nos decepcionó. El buffet era increíble y siguieron viniendo tan larga como queríamos. Hay un par de t&cs; pero son razonables y que sigue siendo un montón de comer por su dinero! La comida era perfecta, el té chino divino, el personal era divertido y nada era demasiado problema. Volveremos :)

This is probably better known as a good take-away, but their sit-down restaurant is even better. The restaurant can seat about 40 guests, it is plain, functional, but not unpleasant. Good to see they concentrate on good food rather than "fancy" wallpaper.Mostly Cantonese, comprehensive menu, all very tasty, and the portions are generous. Good wines and beers, some spirits, too. I have been going there for many years, never disappointed. Definitely recommended.

Just had an amazing meal delivered on time even my partner who would by choise have ordered an Indian could not fault it . Loads of meat in the duck with black bean sauce onions and green peppers had the just perfect fresh crunch ,chicken with Peking sauce to die for thank you golden dragon highly recommended xxxx

Take away service was quick but then the noodles were cold and the beef was just bland rubber. Free poppadoms were not at all fresh as you could bend them and they wouldn't snap. Stay clear if you value your taste buds.

Absolutely awful service, the staff clearly do not want you to be there, have no interest in serving you and clearly can't wait to get rid of you. Children of staff running around unattended, smells of tobacco coming from the kitchen are just the start. Extremely long waiting times, freezing cold restaurant, absolutely no atmosphere and to top it off below average food which tasted like it had been reheated from hours before. Yes it's cheap and for a reason, a night in front of the TV with a sweet and sour ready meal would've been far more satisfying and enjoyable.

We have used this restaurant/takeaway on several occasions over the last year, and we have been very happy with the quality of food it produces, we travel 20 minutes to pick up this takeaway and are happy to do so for the standard of food produced.We have been working our way through the menu although we do have our favourites, all the sweet and sours are brilliant and the flavour of the sauces are really authentic. The different flavoured rices Re really good although my favourite it the house special fried rice, and the. Noodles Vermicelli Singapore style is amazing.We have never been disappointed with this takeaway, why not give it a try, you may like it as much as we do.

We visited this lovely takeaway for the first time in over a year as we have become Vegetarian in that time and were unsure what to have. Their Menu has a dedicated 'Vegetarian Dishes' section that had some lovely alternatives to meat dishes for very reasonable prices.
