Arrived first night a caught sight of the menu for the Golden Sea Chinese take away A we have the set menu for 2 £25 thoroughly enjoyed it and coils have been shared between three as there was plenty - tasty and quick service

Hadn't used Golden Sea for a while as I had moved from the area. Well worth a few extra miles for quality food, forgotten how good it was and will certainly reacquaint myself with the place. Had a Potato Scallop while I waited just like the old days 👌👌

This is the best Chinese restaurant in Weston super Mud. The staff are helpful and friendly. The food is delicious 🤤😋. I've been coming here for 20 years. The prices are very affordable on any budget. You won't be disappointed. Come along and get yourself a yummy takeaway.

In the absence of very few decent Chinese takeaways in Weston we finally made it all the way into town. Our first and many subsequent visits were excellent. Not only was it amazing food with plenty of flavour but it was always good value. For that I commend it and for the long period of very happy custom. However that’s where the positives end. The last four visits have been appalling; Cheap tasting frozen chicken in the chow mein, overcooked dry meat, varying degrees of seasoning from bland to over the top in the meals and multiple occasions of errors in the overall order - not spotted until we have made the 15 min drive home. The biggest issue however for me is the attitude of the owner, by far the rudest bloke I’ve ever encountered in any eatery. I have lost count how many times he’s tried to pick a fight with me or I’ve witnessed him arguing with paying customers. I have been kind by not leaving a negative response until now, however after yet another appalling meal served up to us I’ve decided enough is enough and it’s time to move on. Replacing my previous 5 stars with this generous 2 stars. He’s not going to care what someone thinks about his attitude, so maybe knowing his previously amazing food has become utter pish of late might generate something in his head to address the obvious issues.

Good food always fresh and good staff

During our stay for a week in the area the 2 of us visited this take away on 3 occasions and had 6 different meals. The food was all delicious every time and always far too much of it to!!

I have tried every Chinese takeaway in WSM and I can categorically say that this place has best quality of dishes with the best value and big portion size. The owner says he does not need to advertise and does not get caught up with any delivery whatsoever, the end result though is that they can't be beaten for what the customer receives.

We have been getting takeaway meals from the Golden Sea for many years. Since I was diagnosed as a coeliac I discussed with the owner which meals can be prepared gluten free, and he confirmed a limited selection can be prepared gf. I take my own gf soy sauce for the chef to cook with, and they also leave out the oyster sauce. My recent Chinese takeaway of chicken pineapple, port mushrooms, and beef spring onions and ginger was as good as ever, and good value too.

Food is always brilliant and service is quick and friendly. This is our local and go-to takeaway, would highly recommend.

Chinese food is normally off limits to coeliacs, but here I am able to enjoy a limited selection of the menu as advised by the helpful owner. I always bring my own gf soy sauce for them to use, and avoid busy times so they can prepare my meals separately. The food is always lovely and fresh.

My experience of Golden Sea has mainly been as a chippy - they do cook up a satisfying cod and chips, for sure. Unfortunately, my experience of flavours from the Chinese we ordered for New Year was a bit lacking - the Szechuan beef was alright but nothing special, and our duck dish in plum sauce didn't really taste of much.

Okite staff and food is very nice

In the last few years we have had a number of takeaway meals from here and they are always superb. Two of us are coeliac, and after discussing the menu with the owner he has been able to prepare a limited number of gluten free meals for us, (I always supply my own gf soy sauce to cook with). Despite some meals being 'off limits' for us there is still plenty of variety, and I think the meals taste even fresher cooked that way. Many thanks Golden Sea!

Not the best Chinese ever, I know lamb is fatty but there was more fat than meat which over powered the taste of the sauce.

Really great fish and chips, which surprised me because it’s a Chinese takeaway but honestly their chips are delicious. I rarely get Chinese takeout because I like to cook Chinese food myself but when I do I go for the sweet and sour chicken Hong Kong style and egg fried rice. I really enjoy it, tastes fresh and not too oily! Will try more Chinese dishes in future! Great takeaway so glad it’s just round the corner!

Only been using this Take Away for 5 years but never disappointed with the food and price. It may be off the main road but near to a small Tesco and Co-op.

Golden Sea is my takeaway of choice, serving a wide range of Chinese dishes, as well as good quality fish & chips, pies, sausages, etc., etc.

I have tried so many times to order Chinese. Once I had funny tasting chicken, another time I ordered Thai prawns and got sweet and sour chicken. There is too much food, and its really heavy with msg. The only safe bet is the fishcakes and chips. A small chips is enough for two!!

I love this takeaway. The food is delicious and very reasonably priced if you just want somewhere to pick up a quick fish and chips or a Chinese curry. Don't let the slightly brusque manner of the owner put you off either - he's lovely really!!

No ifs or buts about it this place is without a doubt the best chinese takeaway in our town and surrounding towns , i have eaten my chinese from this takeaway for as long as j can remember easily over 20 years, the food is priced great and tastes amazing, i have tried just about every other chinese within a 20 mile radius and nothing compares , not only do they do chinese but also traditional english takeaway stuff like sausages fishcakes chips pies etc , the owner li is such a nice bloke and i would reccomemend anybody looking for somewhere new to try to go as you wont be dissapointed .
