Golden Bridge in Nuneaton and Bedworth

Feeling very much in want of some Chinese and finding the Golden Bridge open on a Monday, we gave them a try. Would rate them as cheap and cheerful, but could be better. We ordered quite a few things totalling around £45: chicken and sweetcorn soup, hot and sour soup, sweet and sour chicken, bbq ribs, special fried rice, salt and chilli chicken, char sui pork with vegetables, large meat spring rolls, and we got prawn crackers and 2 fortune cookies for free. Let's start by saying the soup was the best part of the meal and set me up for a bit of a disappointment. Mine was the hot and sour soup which was absolutely beautiful, would definitely get again and have with prawn toast by itself! The rice was delicious along with the salt and chilli chicken. The sweet and sour chicken was made separately from the sauce and was slightly dry. The spring rolls were as my partner described as ' a bean sprout sandwich'. It had no flavour or meat to be seen or tasted. Had we no sauce it would have been left. The ribs were a bit tough and the char sui pork with vegetables was ok. Had everything been flavoured and cooked accordingly then it would have been rated higher. Staff were very pleasant and friendly. It's collection and cash only which was a little inconvenient. Food was slightly late, but everything was hot! Would go back for somethings, but not a whole meal. Parking is difficult so be prepared to walk a bit.

The staff are absolutely amazing, great happy family run business. I've used this Chinese 100 of times and never had a poor meal. Always hot 🔥 and great flavour. Well done golden Bridge keep the excellent work 👍

Actually gutted to say this as I've been coming here since a was a teen. Food was inedible tonight, it felt as though it was getting worse but this tops it. Chow mein was so dry it tasted like noodles and old chicken, rice all glooped together and the chicken balls were stale with paste like sweet and sour sauce. Last time I'll be coming here again.

Had a mixed grill spare ribs pancake roll The stake was tough as a old boot . The gravey was jelly same as ribs fir £19 disgusting was good new owners I think save your money I won't be using again .

The food was very tasty, was ready in very good time and there was plenty. I was very full after half of my order. The only negative thing was it was Cash Only, which I wasn't aware of. This was rather awkward as I had to get cash out of a nearby machine and was charged to use it. Needs to be looked into.

Big family get together spending £135 and have often used here for the meals really not to the standard they have been before, one of grandparents asked for Cantonese style sweet and sour this came as chicken sliced up dry and a sauce to pour over?- really disappointed as they are visiting from turkey and really looked forward to it. The crispy chilli beef made one family Member sick also stodgy and no taste just fat. A disappointed family.

After years of going here, I've noticed a change in the food I normally order (last so many weeks). Sadly the usual lady isn't answering the phone, (not sure if she's retired or if it's under new management) but, the last few chicken chow mein dishes have been drier than usual and the last 2 duck and pineapple orders we've had, it's like somebody sucked the juice out of the pineapple, no taste? I've been going here for more than 10 years, my mum longer than that. I've noticed the time change online, so who is now running what once was my favourite Chinese? Not the same!

As time goes by this place remains the same food is amazing shame they don't do delivery but I suppose they don't when the food is so good they wil make it if we wil come . Keep the good food coming

Used to be a lovely Chinese but lately very poor and very bland tastless food the salt n pepper Chicken and chicken balls didn't taste fresh they tasted like been reheated the chow mein was not nice and prawn Crackers were very stale made me my husband and children very ill after eating from here defo won't be ordering again

Did not know what to expect from a takeaway that had interior from the 90s. But the food is absolutely amazing!

We love the Golden Bridge, big menu, good prices and great quality. Cash only mind. Not a problem if you know in advance. Chicken, ginger, pineapple and onion is my favourite.

Incredibly friendly and helpful staff, loved the staff, served by a polite young man who cooked up a STORM! Smelled incredible, great atmosphere, will be going here every day.

Tried Golden Bridge because they were open on a Monday and our local is not. There is no delivery option which was disappointing but we went to collect all the same. Parking is also not great as the restaurant is on a road marked with double yellows. Food was quick and hot when we arrived, we ordered chicken curry, boiled rice, chips, chicken balls and chicken chow mein. The food was okay overall, not amazing but completely edible. The only issue was that everything was so bland. There was very little flavour to the chow mein or the curry so it was quite a boring meal. The chips were lovely though, but the chicken balls were strange. Chicken was chunky but the outer was extremely mushy. I don't think we would choose to eat here again unfortunately

Always great food, sadly they don't deliver but it's worth the drive to fetch the food.

Use the Golden Bridge on many occasions, food always very tasty, and always piping hot upon collection. The only downsides to the Golden Bridge are parking issues, i.e. you can't park directly outside the shop, and secondly they only accept cash for your ordered meals, no card facilities whatsoever.

Not the friendliest woman .. she rushed me to order and stood there impatiently whilst I looked at the menu .. but that aside good old fashioned authentic Chinese food

Great food. Amazing value. Food was ready quickly even on a busy Saturday evening. Small warning: They only accept cash. If like me you do not carry cash, there is an ATM at the shop next door but this charges for withdrawals. Interior is very dated (think 70s or 80s) but do not let this put you off.

Deviated from my usual place due to the good ratings however found myself really disappointed. Ordered a mixed veg which was just bean sprouts and bamboo shoots (no green veg or mushrooms). Crispy shredded beef was soggy and chewy, nothing crispy to it, and the chips were under cooked. Wouldn’t recommend. I will say however the spring rolls were lovely.

I had crispy beef with orange and pineapple sauce and egg fried rice, and a banana fritters for dessert #takeaway. I absolutely loved it! Portions were good and food was super tasty and cooked to perfection.

Can’t fault the staff, friendly and the food was ready on time. When we opened the boxes though, it wasn’t a pleasant smell. The Foo Yung had a burnt smell to it and tasted burnt and flavourless, if that’s possible. Big bits of fat in the beef and mushrooms. BBQ ribs looked like they’d been done a while and were quite tough with a honey like sauce rather than BBQ. Disappointed

Always get our Chinese food from here and the meals don't disappoint, but last night the Prawn Crackers were stale, burnt on the edges and most inedible, come on Golden Bridge up your game on this little issue as it takes the edge off a really nice Special curry! Overall wont stop us going, getting through is a challenge but shows how popular it is. Covid signs in place and girls masked up and behind a glass screen and only 2 allowed in shop to collect at any one time, unless your a Nuneaton covidiot who ignores this, only happens occasionally thankfully..

I love the food from Golden Bridge, I have been eating takeaways from here for over 25 years and I can't find anywhere as good. The staff are always friendly and the food is consistently delicious 😋

Been going here for years, I've never had a bad meal although I do have the same thing everytime I go there 😃 There's a few things I don't like which is why I knocked a star off the review. You can only pay by cash which can be a buggar! We are in 2021 it's ridiculous really they don't have card transaction machine. The other thing I don't like (maybe a cultural thing) the main women in there never smiles, never talks to you, she's really ignorant actually.

Ordered at 6:20pm - told an hour 20 wait. Was there for 7:35 to let them know we were there. Must have been easily 10-15 people waiting. We waited outside in the rain until 8:05pm before leaving. Still accepting telephone orders and more and more people turning up. I know it was a Saturday but it was chaos. Shame as we love the food from here.

Rang through my order, had it repeated back to me, told to collect in 20 minutes. Had to queue outside (no issues) Had the order repeated as I collected it. Got home, no sweet & sour pork, but a bag of chips! Telephoned back, told to return it. Returned, had to queue again! Exchanged the chips for Pork balls. Reheated the rest of the meal. My single vegetable pancake roll was dripping with oil, inside, prawn and pork amongst the beansprouts! Tonight was very poor indeed.

Same family run business as long as I know which has been around 30 plus years. Food has never disappointed, portions are large and 1 of few places I know not online, using all these junk food hubs or taking delivery orders. This speaks for itself as they have thrived all these years

Very cheap, but you get what you pay for. Salt and pepper chips were soggy chips tossed in chinese five spice and chow mein was really bland.

Called to place an order, asked if they take card payment. Woman said yes. But when I got there she said that they don’t take card. Hard to imagine how they could have done a worse job.

Don't be put off by the dated decor. The food is very good.

Recommended by a friend, one of the best Chinese I've had for a long time and great value for money. Only slight niggle is no home delivery but its definitely worth going to collect it otherwise! 👌

Absolutely awful! Went to collect order after advised 50 minutes. Waited there for 10 minutes while she answered the phone and served two people that came after me. Literally didn't even acknowledge me! The food was even worse. The salt and pepper chips were greasy and so over fried they were hollow inside. The vegetable 'sping rolls' ( which I clarified on the order as he said ' pancake rolls) was full of meat and prawns. Lucky we aren't vegetarians! Worst £22 ever.

Maylasian style chicken and vegetables absolutely no lemon grass or coconut milk just mild chinese curry..cheap tough chicken bits..at least the veg was nice and crunchy..will not be going there again...back to Maks in Edward Street authentic quality meat and much cheaper and the best spring rolls ever

First time tonight.. after reading the reviews we were looking for a Chinese in Nuneaton after just moving here. Lovely food, very busy takeaway and polite staff. Good portions nice tasting too. Will definitely use again..

We pass many Chinese restaurants to get to the Golden Bridge but worth the trip. Great food always piping hot and great flavours. Don't be put of by the outside and inside decor- I don't think its changed in 20 odd years!! A trip down memory lane. Quick service when telephoning through, good portion sizes and a wide range of choices. Fairly priced for what you get.

Very popular and busy takeaway. I've been going for 30 years. Cash only and no delivery. Worth phoning order in at busy times as can sometimes be a wait.

The only gripe about this place is they do not deliver! But suppose it is a good thing as stops me eating from there more often! Certain dishes are exceptional and huge portions for reasonable prices! £10 can feed my son and myself with usually some left over! Been using this same family run business for over 20 years

This is still the best Chinese takeaway in Nuneaton for me, I've been to lots of Chinese takeaways and this one is the only one that does not do the nasty pink sweet and sour sauce. Tastes great every time.

Food is bland no taste. The only Chinese that does sweet sour chicken Cantonese is a chicken burger cut up. Not cooked with veg and sauce. No taste with fried rice. Shocking food

Efficient, friendly, good food!

Food is excellent!! I never go anywhere else, meals are always big and tasty. The special fried rice comes with a selection of meat it's my favourite. Always busy and worth the wait.

Visited this restaurant for the first time and we were pleasantly surprised by the portion sizes. Very tasty food although it was a long wait from the time of ordering to when we could pick it up. Price was reasonable. We will be back.
