Golden Bell Fish and Chips Shop in Redcar and Cleveland

I got fishcake and chips today. Looking at some of the reviews, it is obvious that some people really enjoy eating here, particularly for kids meals and parmos, but I'm afraid zi have to be honest. I got this home and it was absolutely drenched in fat and grease; it had totally soaked through all the paper and on lifting it out the bag, it was dripping on my kitchen floor. I only ate some of the fishcake, quite tasty, but all the grease made me feel sick. Plenty of chips..too many really, and inedible, and very strange smell to all the meal that I found gard to get out the house. I'm afraid, won't be returning.

Fish was not drained off properly swimming in fat! Both fish were put together one on top of the other divided by a piece of crease proof paper which held all of the fat in! Never go to this shop again.

Parmo was burnt. Chips were like warm ups and scrappy. Probably the worst chip shop chips I have ever had. Never again.

Tried it when I first moved here & cod & chips were sodden in oil & grease threw it all away

There fish and chips with scraps are beautiful massive portions best in the area and the chicken parmos are gorgeous also best in the area worth every penny 😋

There always forget to put something in the bag everytime I go up there and come home there's always something fucning missing.

My first order at the golden bell. This place is well worth the money. And it's delicious too. I'll definitely be ordering again. Can't think of a better chip shop. Thanks golden bell. X

Some of the best fish and chips I have ever had, and the parmos are huge and delicious too. Everything was wonderful with huge portions; very generous and cooked fresh. Shout out to the wonderful service, thank you Amanda!

Drove all the way from Richmond to try one of their fish parmos and got a normal parmo incase I didn’t like it… my god what a game changer the fish parmo is!! So much lighter than chicken and tastes amazing!! The lady on the front desk is a babe and all the staff were so welcoming and friendly… I will be back

We always come here and I’ve never had a problem however, the attitude of the man on the phone to me this evening was disgusting. I am aware it is fish Friday which is why I ordered my food to be delivered an hour and 20 mins before the delivery time requested. When I called up I was told it would be another half an hour and he did not understand why I was complaining as I am ‘supposed’ to give them half an hour between the time slot I’ve requested. If this was the case it should have been stated upon ordering or a phone call would have been nice to advise that the food was going to be later than expected due to the volume of orders. I understand it’s a busy day and a simple apology would have done but instead I was met with attitude and patronising behaviour to the point I hung up the phone. I’m really disappointed in the service and even more annoyed that the order had not even been started when I called up to see where it was as it was late!! When the food came it was disappointing and did not include my full order!!! Tried to call but the phones have been turned off!

I ordered a Parmo and they did they weren’t delivering so I got my friend to order one for me and they delivered pls sort this out much appreciated

Best pork parmo I've ever had ..the chips and salad/coleslaw and garlic are also really nice .. my kids liked the fish bites aswell :)

I went to this fish shop after it was recommended .I got 2 large cod and 1 bag of chips and they were huge and delicious .I will certainly be going again The staff wee very friendly also .If you want the best fish and chips this is the place .

I have always gone to pavs in grangetown and thought i would give here a go and wow wow the regular parmo was the size of a 10’ pizza box with a tub of chippy chips, salad and that comes with coleslaw. The parmo was UNBELIEVABLE looks like i have a new place to order from now thanks for not letting me down golden bell

Staff are fantastic couldn't recommend this place enough everything I've had from there is spot on.

Omg first time food was dire never experienced anything like it dripping in grease is an understatement if you have health conditions this place won’t help I opened my food and it was just a pile of mushy grease I was near sick took mouthful and went straight in bin I was only visiting this area so I’ll be passing next time the paper food was wrapped in was soaked and plastic bag was puddle grease at bottom it really was shocking, I like to support local businesses rather than bigger places and would never leave such a review if hadn’t been so vile never ever seen anything like it can’t believe I paid over £24🙈🙈🙈🙈

Went for a Parmo on my friends recommendation and glad I did. One of the best Parmo’s I’ve had lately. I live out the area now so always have one when I’m home. Definitely be coming again. Very nice and decent size too. 👍
